Movie as a background for interactive pdf

Hi,
I've important an movie in indesign and set it as a background while the rest of the text boxes are on top.
In my preview it shows that the movie works fine as the lowest layer
but when exporting it pushes the movie on the top layer and hiding the rest under it
how can i fix it ??
Thanks

Thanks for the reply...
I've posted it in the acrobat forum.
It is just confusing to see it work in the preview and not in the actual pdf , but that's probably cause it's flash?

  • In InDesign, how can I name individual cells in a table for interactive PDFs?

Hi, I'm creating interactive PDFs for a client that include tables with empty cells that will be populated afterwards (depending on what information a customer puts in on a form).
The forms are created in InDesign and exported as interactive PDFs, but I need to be able to name the live fields (in InDesign) before I export the Interactive PDF, so that I don't have to select each indivual field in the final PDF and rename them.
The reason I want to be able to do this pre-PDF production, is because the forms will be rebranded over and over again and I don't want to have to rename hundreds of cells time and time again in Acrobat Pro.
The deveopler who's populating the cells already has predefined names for them, so I can's simply give him the names that Acrobat automatically defines.

What version of InDesign are you using? If CS6 or CC, you can add fields and enter a name for each in the Name field of the Buttons and Forms panel.

  • Creating a Randomizer/Shuffle Button for interactive PDF in InDesign CS6 (PC)

I'm creating a set of flashcards in InDesign CS6 (on a PC) so there are two sides (question then answer). I'd like them to "flip over" using an interactive PDF. That's not the problem - the tough part is linking the two sides (ie pages) together and creating a "randomizer" button so the user can shuffle the deck of flashcards in a new order while keeping the question and answer pages of each card together. Is that possible with an interactive PDF? I'd appreciate any info! The company is printing the flashcards and then offering them in a digital format to it would be great to be able to use one document for both purposes.

Sorry, this is not possible in an interactive PDF file.
You could probably do with SWF. You could probably include it a tablet app using HTML5 and JavaScript.
    But not in PDF.

  • Text hyperlinks for interactive pdf (In Template)

I have an interactive pdf - created links to individual pages using an index at the top with the list of page numbers...
I successfully linked the numbers to their respective pages, but when I export, the hyperlinks only work on the first page. All other pages using the template have the same list of page numbers at top, but don't link to the pages (only the first page in the document works)...
Is there another way - I found that if I don't use the template - I can individually paste the same list of page numbers on each page - but that kind of defeats the purpose of a template...
FYI, I'm using the hyperlink tool - not the button tool... would that matter?
Thanks for any assistance - very frustrating as its a 250 page document with several subsections... would be great to be able to use the template...

Just to be clear (and very brief) about the Interactive Forms Workflow:
You create the initial form in InDesign CS6/CC, (you can use any text for the form labels), you then add the fields by drawing rectangles, and convert them to a Text field using the Buttons and Forms panel (label each field with a unique name). You then export the InDesign form as an Interactive PDF and after it's created open it in Acrobat Pro. In Acrobat you use Forms > Edit to view the fields. You click on a field and it opens the Text Fields Property panel, here you can change the default (Times) font that appears in the field to say Helvetica (you must use a font that’s on everyone’s computer). In this panel you can also change the size, alignment  and colour of the font plus there's a number of other options. You then close the form editing mode. You can test the form and subsequently distribute it. To ensure users can not only add data but save it, you need to save the form in a special way: Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools. Make sure you keep a copy of the original form as after this stage you can’t alter it. I suggest you try it out on a couple of simple practice forms before you work on your actual job.
There are lots of other things you can add to forms such as drop down lists, combo boxes, radio buttons, print and email buttons.

  • Two problems with MP3 files for interactive PDFs

    1. I'm putting in two interview excerpts for an interactive pdf. Last week when I tried to import the first MP3, I got the "cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation" error message. I don't know anything about sound files, so I just tried To MP3 from the App store, which converted my MP3 file to another MP3 file, I guess. The new file worked fine.
I got the second file today and had the same problem. I sent the following urls (http://indesignsecrets.com/forum/general-indesign-topics/how-to-place-an-mp3-file-into-ind esign-cs5-which-was-edited-with-audacity-and-converted-with-switch, http://indesignsecrets.com/forum/general-indesign-topics/no-filter-found-for-requested-ope ration-mp3) I found that seem to describe similar problems to our sound guy at work.He tried lowering the bit rate, but it didn't do any good. So when I got home, I tried To MP3, and it solved the problem again.
Does anybody know why this is happening?
    2. Once I had the first sound file in place, I wanted to replace the small gray box that Acrobat puts in. Bob Levine suggested
    http://indesignsecrets.com/hiding-sound-files-in-an-interactive-pdf.php
which worked great, but I needed some way to control the audio. I tried a variation of Steven Werner's suggestions in
    http://indesignsecrets.com/hiding-sound-files-in-an-interactive-pdf.php
It was working fine, when I had just a play and pause button, but when I added a resume, the play button just stopped working. I tried all sorts of variations, getting rid of the double actions in the buttons, starting new files, new buttons, but the play button just didn't work. In my last test, the play button worked, but only after I had pressed resume. So I am completely stumped.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
    I'm using InDesign 7.0.4, Mac OSX 10.6.8
    Chris

OK, I should have thought more  before I answered.
So I see that Media Encounter does import audio files but it only exports video. However, I did a test with making a video file from the MP3, importing that video into InDesign, reducing the video, using the multi-function buttons, and everything worked fine. I got the warning message that the "interactive elements are clipped in ways that PDF files cannot reproduce" but it didn't interfere with playing it back. Still, I feel as if I'm cheating and something is going to come back and haunt me.
The disadvantage is that the video files are larger than the audio.

  • Exporting Green Screen as Transparent for Interactive PDF

I am running CS5 Indesign and Premiere Pro CS5
I have a coach on green screen and keyed out the green and have a black background. I am wanting to place the coach only into an Indesign file and have him floating in front of the eventual interactive PDF. I have tried exporting through FLV and enabling the alpha encoder but have not had any luck with it working. Am I missing steps or is there a seperate way to make a background transparent? Thanks!

    Todd
I am able to have footage behind my FLV when I import it. I used other footage and even a JPG to double check. The transparency is there it just doesn't export it seems like. I appreciate the help and any other help from other users. I guess the answer is with the interactive PDF and Indesign.

  • Audio Playback Controls for Interactive PDF

I am a student and new user of Adobe Indesign CS6. I have an interactive PDF with an audio file (mp3). When I click on the play icon for the audio file in my PDF, it opens in an ugly gray box, and I can't really tell how to stop, replay, or fast forward the audio file because the gray box is so small. How can I modify this? Thank you

This might help. Nothing has changed since this was written:

  • Advice/Tips needed for Interactive PDF

I am looking for any suggestions/advice/tips on creating a interactive PDF. I have 1 title page document and this document has 8 links on it. These links will go to 8 new/seperate pdf documents. I'd like to create it so that when you click on a link it goes straight to that document and only gives you the option to go BACK to the title page.
I know I can create this with bookmarks, but with bookmarks you have a loing list on the left sidebar. The tricky part is I can only show one document and a back to title page link.
Any suggestions or tips on how to accomplish this task? I have Acrobat Pro 9.
    Thanks

Bookmarks are the way to go on this. You can set the default viewing of the PDF to not include the bookmarks and such (under ctrl-D for the document properties).

  • Understanding Sizes for Interactive PDFs

This is what I want to accomplish:
Create an interactive PDF with a page size of 1920x1280.  In other words when someone opens the pdf and they select the full screen the layout they will get a page that exactly fits the screen (assuming the user has a 1920x1280 monitor), no moving left, right, up and down is possible, only possibly a next page which again will give a full screen.
So I tried to create an InDesign document using the Digital Publishing option and a pixel size of 1920x1280.
Now whatever options I try I always get the interactive PDF to open way too large.
So can anybody tell me what to do?
Again I just want to have a full screen page of exactly 1920x1280.

PDF pages are always measured in physical units (points, or 1/72 of an inch). There is no concept of a page being measured in pixels.
When you create screen-mode files in ID, it simply uses 72PPI and creates an inch-based layout. Look at the properties of the PDF file and you'll see the actual 'paper' size.
If you set the PDF's properties to open in full-screen mode, and the aspect ratio matches the user's monitor, then it will fill the screen perfectly - but all other modes it will be at the mercy of the user's display settings and hardware, because Acrobat/Reader is trying to show "100%" in inches, not in pixels.

  • TOC links fail when using book function for interactive pdf output

I have  a large print publication consisting of multiple files using the Indesign book function. I have created a Table of Contents in the first document (there are multiple files in this book), but when I save to interactive pdf to create a digital version the TOC links are lost. They only work within the first document.
I have read numerous forums but cannot resolve this issue with the combination of:
    1. TOC creation
    2. Using Indesign Book Function
    3. Multiple documents in the one book
    4. Interactive Pdf output required
    I look forward to answers???

I am on CC version 9.0 but am updating CC as I type this in the hope this may have some answers?
If you are on CC, you should update your InDesign version to 9.2.1 as it is the latest version. Then you should open the TOC definitions, check it, activate the new add anchor on destiny function and save. Now you should actualize all TOCs.
The TOC functionality has been improved and changed between 9.0 and 9.2. If you update your files accordingly you will suffer less pain.

  • How do I make full screen button for interactive PDF

I know in Acrobat I can set the PDF to open in full screen mode. I want the PDF to open in normal view. There will be a full screen button. Click once and the PDF expands to full screen. Click again and the PDF reverts to normal size.
I wasn't sure where to post this but figured this is the place to start. Any advice on how to do this appreciated.
Here's a movie of a PDF that has the feature I'm seeking:
    Full Screen Normal Screen button
Was testing the link and I see you need QT Pro to download. Here's a zip archive of the same movie for download.
    Movie Download

The client (a woman's club) indicated that about half the women found the full screen annoying and the other half found normal view annoying. So I made it an option. Also, most PDFs I receive such as ID magazine have the option to view normal or full.
One thing I haven't figured out is how to get the page you're on to be highlighted. So if you go to page 5 in PDF, I would want the button for 5 to be highlighted in red. I ended up using page numbers but would like to be a bit more streamlined.
I received a PDF the other day and at the top when the page numbers and left/right arrows are, the page numbers read
    FC, IFC, 1, 2, etc.,
IBC, BC. I thought that was pretty cool. I imagine it has something to do with pagination in ID. Have to see if I can figure that out.

  • Multiple Hyperlinks for interactive PDF

Hi, I work for a company that creates 'Open Home' Maps and Lists for multiple real estate publications. the map has flags with numbers that corresponds with the matching list of details. I would like to turn these PDF's into a more interactive file used on the web with URL hyperlinks. we currently use Indesign CS5 and Adobe Pro 9 to create the final PDF files. I know we can create hyperlinks individually in both these programs but i would like to create 100+ on both pages, is this possible? can either of these programs run macros or Scripts that would take the manual work away? i would really appreciate your feed back or if someone could point me in the right direction on who could help.

    Hi Lissbee66,

  • How do I make a Full screen button in inDesign for interactive PDF?

I posted this question in the inDesign forum and someone told me to post it in the Acrobat forums.
I would like to make a button in inDesign to give users the option to view a PDF at Full Screen. Much like the button the inDesign Magazine PDFs have.
    Thank you for any help!
    Best,

How do I add a Acrobat button to my inDesign button? I created a button in inDesign with a rollover feature and I want to preserve this feature in Acrobat. Can I apply some type of "invisble" button in Acrobat with a Acrobat JavaScript action?
    Thank you!

  • Do InDesign table fields convert to form fields for interactive PDFs?

Does InDesign CC recognize table fields as form fields when creating fillable form PDFs - or do I have to create individual text fields on top of the InDesign table and assign form field text field characteristic in the buttons and forms menu?

I don't believe InDesign itself will apply any form of automated recognition to table cells...BUT...Acrobat's form field recognition certainly picks up empty table cells and assigns them as text-input fields.

I cannot believe the quality of the Acrobat X tutorials. Why can’t they be like the ones for CS.  Some balloon text boxes flash by so fast they cannot be read, timing is also an issue for other balloons.
Disappointed, If you like I can make better ones for you
