I had all my old home video's and super 8 movies converted to DVD's. Since I will move back to Europe I asked the company to convert them to PAl system. I just got all the DVD's for a lot of money, but I can not play any of them on my MAC book.(I think that is because they were burned on zone 1 dvd's and my lap top works with zone 2.
I wonder how I can make them work on my macbook..? I intended to start editing those movies so I need to be able to play them on my mac. Is there a way to copy them to zone 2 DVD's and or to zone 0 dvd's and where do I get those free zone or zone 1 recordable dvd's?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

  • Importing into iMovie from camcorder movies backed up on DVD

Each time that flashmemory of my camcorder is full I make a backup of the content on a DVD by copying all the files on a DVD (or two for 8GB flash). I have some camcorder backup files which are not on my iMovie library and I would like to transfer them to iMove, but there is no way that I can do this. The import does not recognize the CD/DVD drive. I have not tried copying the DVD back onto the flash and import it as if it is from the camera yet, because there are quite a few DVDs and copying each movie back onto the flash and then transfer it to the iMovie takes quite a lot of time. Is there anyother way? Thanks

Hmmm.... Depending on how you made the DVDs it might be possible.
First, open DISK UTILITY, from your Applications/Utilities folder.
Create a new disk image. Set a custom size that is at least as big as your flash card, say 8GB.
Set the properties of the Disk Image to be readable and writable. Give it a name.
You should now have an 8GB disk image. Mount it on your desktop by double clicking it. You should be able to see a blank folder in the Finder.
Now copy the contents of your DVD to the disk image. You will need ALL folders from your camera. Try to make the disk image look identical to the SD card. If you only have the .mts files, this will be more difficult. Let me know. If you have all the files from your camera, this is a simple copy operation.
Now, with the Disk Image mounted, open iMovie, and it should recognize it as a camera and you can import.

  • Adding More Than One Movie to a DVD

I am making iDVDs that are just about 15 minutes long. Since the dvd I am using holds up to 4.7 gigabytes, I would like to add more than one movie to a dvd project. How do I do that?

Look in the folder of an iMovie project. Let's say the project is called "My Great Movie"
There should be a small file with the name "My Great Movie.mov" That is the reference movie.
If you open iDVD directly rather than from iMovie and create a new iDVD project, just drag the reference movies onto the iDVD window and it will add the movie to your project.
On the finished DVD, you pick a movie to play it. When that movie finishes, it puts you back to the main menu to pick another.
Does this sound like what you want ?

  • Burning Purchased Movies onto a DVD

If I purchase and download a movie from the iTunes store, can I burn that movie to a DVD the same way that a burn or back-up my music to a CD? Also, if I put the movie onto a DVD, will it play in a DVD player?

Not exactly, to anyone reading the Terms of Service, it's not all that apparent really. Here's what the Terms say:
"(vi) You shall not be entitled to burn video Products or ring tone Products.
(vii) You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy (if applicable) Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. "
To me, this just tells me that I can't burn video products, but then contradicts itself saying that I CAN burn video products, but only for personal use (in other words, the standard rules of not reselling or distributing videos, as all videos state in the beginning)...
I did read the Terms before making those purchases, and they are not very clear. So with this in mind, I do blame Apple for not stating the terms more clearly...

  • 2 movies in one DVD

    Hello!
Is it possible to have 2 separate movies on one dvd? I would like to have 2 small movies, each with it's own chapters made in iMovie. How can I do that?
    Thanks for your help...
    DD

After you get into iDVD with your first movie in place, you can then go get the other movie from your hard drive and simply drag and drop it into the same iDVD window your current movie is in (avoid dropping it on those little drop zones that are meant for menu photos and movie snippets). You may get the second movie showing up as a separate folder you have to pick to get to the "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection" buttons, but those buttons can be cut and pasted back up on the top level and the folder removed. You can also rename the buttons so both your movies are not labeled as "Play Movie".

  • HT5517 Displaying Mac screen to my TV via Apple TV but movie playing on DVD Player shows only gray..

The screen for DVD Player and the one on the TV are both solid light gray and no audio. When I double click DVD Player screen on the Mac the picture shows for about 1/2 second then goes gray again... it also zooms to full screen or back to small screen on both displays when I double click. Apple TV is on the same WiFi as the Mac and I can see my Mac desktop on the TV. Only the movie in the DVD Player is grayed out. If I don't try to use Apple TV, I can watch and listen to the movie on the Mac with no problems. Any suggestions on how I can watch the movie on my TV rather than just on the Mac?

Why does that need to be blocked?  I just had the same problem today.  I have had my MacBook and AppleTV for over a year.  It wasn't until now that I was without a dvd player.  I didn't think that would ba a problem.  Now I can't watch my own movies on my own electronics.

  • Import home movie clips from DVD

    Hi all -
I've been trying to wrap my non-computer brain around the process of importing a previously burned home movie clip from DVD back into iMovie so I can add to it. (I messed up the first burn, but because of limited space, I deleted the original clip.)
I'd be happy to get it back to tape on my camcorder if that is the only way to do it, but I fear losing quality.
I've downloaded Mac the Ripper and Streamclip, but I don't want to pay extra money for any software (I'm a poor, starving student mom).
    Can anyone help out?
    Christine.

Your burned DVD uses MPEG-2 file format. You'll need more software:
    MPEG Streamclip (free).
    Apple's MPEG-2 PLayback Component ($20).
Use Streamclip to open the DVD contents and export to DV Stream (huge file). Use the .dv file in iMovie.

  • What is the best way to put a movie on a DVD?

I want to put my movie on a DVD and show it on the TV. What is the best way to do this?

Yes, you can put more than one movie on a DVD, as long as the total length of both together is not over 2hrs for single-layer DVDs.
I know what you mean about it taking so long for the burning....my DVDs are usually just close to 2hrs, so taking 12-14hrs to burn is not unusual for me. I just do it overnight, and it is finished in the morning. I 'save to disc image' first, and then do the burning from Disk Utility.
Trust me, I've tried everything I can think of to be able to.
I am surprised that you cannot get your movies exported back to DV tapes with your camcorder. I looked up its specs, and it shows it has Firewire port, so you should be able to export. I would pursue this further....
Have you tried saving your movies as QuickTime Full-Quality and then importing that into a new iMovie and exporting that? You will need to have more free space to copy the movie, but once you have made the QT movie, you can delete the original one, and you can delete the QT one after the export. Also, it may take a LOOOONNNGGG time for the compression/process necessary to create the QT movie, and somewhat long for the import into iMovie, but I have found that iMovies that would not export to my camcorder in their original form exported easily after I made the QT one.

  • Lots of flicking during movement with my DVD

    Hi
I am trying to create my video reel of my professional audio work. I am having trouble getting the video to look right on my TV with DVDs burned with iDVD. I feel like this has been covered, but my configuration doesn't match anyone who was able to solve it.
I loaded in the video from a Sony DVW-M2000 Digibeta deck using 10 bit uncompressed video in Final Cut Pro. I then exported the video with the same settings. The quicktime video looks great.
However, when I burn to a DVD with highest quality and play the DVD back on the TV, all the movement sections are grainy and flickering. The picture was professionally shot on film. The Digibeta looks perfect, the quicktime looks perfect, but the DVD looks bad. Any suggestions? Should I output as a different format from Final Cut?

Thanks for all your responses. My expertise is in
audio, not video. While I could learn the compressor
program, is there a particular way to export the
video from Final Cut that might improve things? Or a
specific type of compressor in the compressor program
    that would work?
iDVD only gives you two choices Best Quality (2-pass encoding - variable bit rate) for up to 2 hrs on a SL disc and Best Performance (single pass encoding - fixed bit rate) for up to 60 minutes on a SL disc. (The BP fixed video bit rate is about as high as can be used with the PCM audio.)
iDVD ONLY supports uncompressed PCM audio. This acts to limit the video bit rate that can be played back.
DVD SP (with Compressor) lets you use compressed Dolby Audio and lets you try many different video compression bit rates. (There is a maximum combined audio/video bit rate that DVD player can support.)
If Final Cut offers a de-interlace output option, you might try that.

  • If I purchased a movie, from a computer a LONG time ago like 3 years but recently I changed computers how can I get that movie back? p.s. I bought the movie from iTunes

If I purchased a movie, from a computer a LONG time ago like 3 years but recently I changed computers how can I get that movie back? p.s. I bought the movie from iTunes

If you don't have the movie on the old computer and you don't have the movie backed up on a disc somewhere, your only choice is to purchase the movie again. Currently, movie downloads are a one time deal andit is your responsibility to have a backup copy.
If you have the movie on the other computer still, you can burn it to a DVD and then copy it over to the new computer.
Personally, I have two computers and when I make a purchase on one, iTunes automatically copies it to the other and I have never lost videos or music in this manner.

  • In Lion, sometimes clicking on close button or tabs doesn't respond as if the buttons aren't there, i have to move the cursor away and move back to make them work again, anyone can help me?

I'm not sure if anyone had run into this issue. Clicking the same place on the display sevral times will cause the click to stop working. For example, if i open safari and click on the Show Reading List button, it will work the first time i click it, but stop responding to my command as i click more, as if the button is not there, i have to move away the cursor and click somewhere else and move back to click the button to make it work again. And it happened everywhere, not just the show reading list button. The scrolling and moving are normal.
In fact, I have my trackpad replaced in an apple store for this issue but it turned out this is not a hardware problem, and it is not only my problem. Ironically, i found the same issue on several of the demo Macs inside the apple store. So anyone can help me here? Thanks.

Hi manni394, what version of Firefox are you running now?
Firefox 22 has a new way of setting the default zoom level: it is based on your Windows font size setting. So, if you set Windows fonts to 125% (enlarged 25%), your Firefox pages also will be enlarged 25%. On pages that do not adjust their layout, you may get a horizontal scroll bar.
To reduce the zoom on a page, hold Ctrl and tap the - key (the one on the numeric keypad or the one on the number row of the keyboard). The zoom should be reduced for each tap.
If you want to globally adjust your zoom level to be lower, you can use either of these add-ons:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/ Default FullZoom Level]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/ NoSquint]
If you already have one of those add-ons, check the default/global zoom level in case it needs to be adjusted.

  • How can I burn more than 1 movie to a DVD when there is room on the disc for it. Premiere wants to overwrite once 1 movie is burned to the disc

How can I burn more than 1 movie onto a DVD? Once 1 movie is burned successfully to the disc, I try to burn another movie and Premiere wants to overwrite the first movie. One movie is 1.2 GB, second is 2.3; so there is room on a 4.7 GB DVD-RW.

What you report is what it is.
Each burn to of Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc results in the disc containing one OpenDVD Folder and one VIDEO_TS Folder.
Only one VIDEO_TS Folder can be put on a DVD-VIDEO disc even when Premiere Elements is not involved. I have seen that written about online, and I have
never found a way to overcome what seems to be basic behavior description of DVD-VIDEO..
Premiere Elements will allow you to write to a disc with content already on it, but only after you give the OK for erasing the disc content before going ahead
    with the burn to.
If you have several movies, one possibility is to build a Timeline with the movies, use stop markers, and setup disc menus according so that the viewer
can selectively watch the movies. More on that later if wanted.
Any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.
