Movie captions for deaf and hard of hearing users

Hello. I'm a Deaf user of an iBook G4. Recently, Mac has released a new program that allows us to purchase movies or TV shows from itunes for $9.99. As a Deaf user, I found out that I coudn't watch the movies, they were not captioned. Is it that itunes simply forgot to add the caption function to the movies? It would be great if someone could tell me if anything is being done about this. I would love to be able to buy movies and watch them on the laptop.
another note: what about the ipod videos? As of now, there is not a function on the ipods that allow us to watch movies with captions. Some people might say that the words would be too small on the screen. But as a deaf user.. size does not matter.. and i'd love to have an ipod to watch movies since i don't listen to music that much and I currenly do not own an ipod.
any information about this would be really helpful. Maybe theres a solution I don't know about.

Of course we understand that are the studios provide the captions, but we are only secondary clients, and we need the pressure of the primary client that is Apple.
I think that we all be grateful if iTunes can make this negotiation for us.

I talked to an apple represenative today. They
said
the problem lies in the movies that they get from
the
movie makers do not come with the captions in the
movie. Is there a way to make sure that the movies
come with the captions in the moive? They do come
with them on DVDs that I get from the movie rental
store... I don't see why they can't come with
captions from the itunes store.
There is no techincal reason... The distributors
simply do not provide the information to apple. Your
beef is really with them. As far as I know none of
the movies afre in any way closed captioned. You
should probably be better off writing to the studios
about this.

The answer appears to be no. Apple TV uses QuickTIme to play videos, and QuickTime has very poor support for subtitles.
According to the Apple website about Leopard (see this page http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/accessibility.html ) Leopard will come with QuickTime 7.2 which happens to be also the current version for Tiger, in other words it will be same (i.e. equally useless).
There is a plugin for QuickTime called Perian which does a reasonably good job of adding subtitle support to QuickTime Player but this feature will not work for Apple TV or Front Row.
There is a program you can buy called SubMerge, which will burn subtitles in to the video image (so they can then never be turned off). Of course you also have to get hold of the subtitles.
Until (if) Apple dramatically improve the support for subtitles in QuickTime, things like Apple TV, iPhone, and Front Row will all be equally limited. Also there is no point Apple putting subtitles in videos on the iTunes Store since they cannot be played via QuickTime.
While it is not related to your question, QuickTime is equally pathetic at supporting surround sound, and multiple audio tracks (e.g. for different languages or directors commentary), again there is no point Apple providing this on the iTunes Store (for films) until QuickTime can support it.
VLC, and even gasp Windows Media Player (for Windows) can do all of this.

Here I need to know the table and fields for the above mentioned output fields.
Particularly i need to know what are the

Numbered captions for figures and tables

Can anyone tell me how to create captions for figures and tables such that they are automatically numbers (ex. Figure 1, Figure 2, ...) so that when I remove or add a new figure in the middle of the document I don't have to manually re-number everything. If it still is not possible in Pages ver. 4, I hope that someone can write an applescript that will post process a document to prefix captions preceding tables with Table # and any captions following images with Figure # or "Some custom phrase" followed by #.

Nokia Handsets for Deaf and Blind...???

Guys,
I'm dealing with a few customers at the moment who are either full or partially blind and also a gent who very hard of hearing....
What sort of products would suit these customers best, i'm thinking of something with a text-talk type ability, but i've no idea what handsets would be up to spec and would suit their needs.
Do Nokia do anything specific??

You can get the requesting text for the spid that is blocked, plus all the other information you get from sys.sysprocesses by

But you will not bee able to get the command that caused the lock that is causing the blocking. SQL does not keep that information. For a lock, it only keeps the spid that owns it, what is locked, and the kind of lock. It does not keep
the command that caused the lock. And while you can, at least sometimes get the last command the blocking spid has issued, but that may well not be the command that caused the lock. The command that caused the lock might be anything the blocking
spid ran since it entered transaction state. And since that could be the last command or many, many commands ago, you won't be able to get that information with a query into the system tables and/or views.

103 movement is GR w.r.t P.O into GR blocked stock. Generally GR blocked stock means keeping the material outside the plant. The stock displayed in GR bloocked does'nt considered into inventory stock.
103 movement will be activated were the stores want to put some Quantity check on the material & where the Purchase dept does'nt want to take any accountability for the supplier deficit stocks. (In 101 immediately accountability take place and reflected in the inventory and FI document gets generated).
In MIGO after 103 movement, user can immediately release stock from GR block stock in the same screen (A05 Release from GR blockd stock). From Quality point of view u need to go with 103-105 movement type. Here don't activate Quality for 103 movement but activate quality for 105 movement type.Bcoz in 103 after inspection, u cannot show defect material in Blocked stock and it will remain in GR blocked stock. Confusion remains between new material and defect material where bothe will remain in GR blocked stock.
In short 103 - Quantity check (stores activty, no Inpsection lot)
105 - Quality check (Quality activity. Inspection lot)

Firewire for interface and hard drive

I have a firewire Lacie external hard drive and m-audio 410 firewire interface, does using firewire for both affect the overall performance in logic express, or firewire and usb is better?

I use usb and firewire just because my audio interface doesn't have firewire.
Also, has been using booth firewire ports on my PowerBook, with the Lacie on one and a camera on the other importing video, and had no problems.
So, I think you're ok, you have a G5, Firewire's faster, you really shoudn't have reasons to worry. Give it a go!

IPhoto won't recognize *.MOV file for playing and for importing

My iPhoto is giving me an "unreadable file format" error on *.mov files after I upgraded to iPhoto '11. I have problem with video files that were working in iPhoto before and on files trying to import from my iphone or from my camera. I made new library and tried to import *.mov file to the new library to check if my library is corrupted. I get same error message. The *.mov file plays fine with quicktime when I import files using Preview to my computer. I just cannot import new video to iPhoto and play videos from iPhoto.
How do I make iPhoto recognize the *.mov file again and make the video file play properly? I miss my old iPhoto

have you used a maintainance application lately, that has cleaned some caches? Then check, if you still have the file "com.apple.xpchelper.cache" in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/Caches/".
If this file is missing, that might be the reason that you cannot play or import videos any longer. Then restore it from your backup, if you have a clone of your system. ALJ posted a link to a copy of this file in another thread: Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion

You can create transaction code from se80 as well.In object navigator,right click on your program name and create->transaction code.You can create transaction and select if it is only a report,a report with selection-screen depending on your requirement.You can run your report directly by entering the transaction code in the command field.
You can authorise the users who can use your transaction:
Authorisation objects are used to restrict certain transactions to users.Critical data must be protected from unauthorised users.For example,the head has access to certain data.But it cannot be accessed by his subordinate.For this we need to define roles.
Create an authorization object with transaction SU21.
An object usually consists of the ACTVT (activity) field and one other field,which specifies the data type to be protected.By ACTVT, we can decide if the data is accessible for change,display only etc.
Add authorization fields to the authorization object created.
Assign the authorization object to the transaction using SE93.
Attach the authorization object to the role using transaction PFCG.
If you want to assign roles,use transaction PFCG.Create a new role.In the AUTHORIZATIONS tab,you can get a self generated profile name and a profile text by clicking on the icon next to it.Then go to the "Change Authorization data" and choose an authorization template.Then you can choose to display/change/create an activity and after the selection,click on the red and white circle.The profile will now be created.
In the user tab,you can give the user details who can use this role.

Search Engine for Dreamweaver and OSX 10.6 users.

I have seen lots of post about search engines but I can't seem to find my answer.
Can anyone please educate me on how I can add a simple Search Engine only to

Instructions for Enabling and using the "root" user in OSX 10.8

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11331 you clck on "Open Directory Utility" in the Network Account Server section of the Users & Groups system preferences.
However, I don't see anything of that name in the preference (running 10.8.3).
EDIT: it is in the "Login Options" section.
