Movie clip trouble with .ai file

I am fairly new to flash, however I do know my way around
pretty well. I live traced a drawing and imported it into a movie
clip to manipulate. As soon as I apply a shape tween to the
timeline, the image gets distorted. Could my graphic be too
complex? In the help section of Flash, it said that it could only
import .ai files from Illustrator 10 and earlier. This did nothing
when I resaved to version 10. Any help would be much appreciated.

most likely the shape(s) is too complex - shape tweens work
better the simpler the shape.
hard to say withouyt seeing what we're talking about but that
is my best guess.

How to load movie clip internal in .fla file

Hi - How do I load a movie clip inside a .fla file?........I
know the script to load a .swf file but I do not know the script to
load a movie clip (New symbo l= movie clip) made in the same .fla
file.

Do you mean loading clips that are in the library?

Troubles with xmp files not loading...

I'm having troubles with xmp files not loading with images but are present in the image folders. does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix this. Also when trying to load the xmp individually they are grayed out and unable to load. I have tried this on different machines (Macs) and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this issue.

Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
Guess I won't be using DNG any more..

Having trouble with wav files and sample rates

Hi ,I am having trouble with wav files and sample rates .I have been sent multiple projects on wav as the main instrumental ; I wish to record in 48.000kHz .Now comes the problem.When I try to change the project to 48k It seems to pitch up the track.I can't have them send the logic/project file as most have outboard synths,different plug ins etc.This particular case the producer has recorded the synth task in 41.000 kHz .My successful outcome would be to be able t create a project file in 48 kHz .And NOT pitch up whne I add the instrumenta wav file .Any help would be gratefully recieved,this is my first post so any mistakes I may have made go easy

You'll have to convert the actual synth audio file file that the producer gave you to 48kHz. You can do this in the audio Bin in Logic.

Accessing movie clip from flash swf file

I have the situation where in flash i created a simple
animated movie clip with few stop() commands on timeline. Movie
clip consists of simple animatio played on roll over and on roll
out which is controlled using actionscript. I loaded movie clip
into flash using [embed] tag but actionscript code is stripped,
there is no stop() action so movie clip loops continously. I guess
that's normal behaviour for embedded flash swf files but i would
like to know is there a way to still achieve that? Can i load swf
some other way with its actionscript and then control movie clip
from flex?

You need the FLA's to open in Flash.
You could download the free trial of a flash decompiler
(www.sothink.com). The free trial won't give you actionscript, but
it will give you all of the art in the swf.

I have imported .mov clips created on a older mac os x (lion) and when I wanted to import them into fce, a quicktime conversion window opened up and converted them (I haven't experienced this in the past). I then imported the converted quicktime clips into my fce project. After doing this I took selected clips and put those edited clips on the fce timeline. When playing the video back in the fce timeline,I noticed
1) the video wasn't playing back smoothly like the original content
2) when looking at the timecode reading of the timeline, the timecode was sputtering as well as the video and audio. I exported to quicktime just to see if that was consistent, it was.
When I play the converted quicktime content independently of fce, it plays normally (no sputtering of timecode, video and audio. Need help to resolve the sputtering playback of converted video content in the fce timeline. I've never experienced this before. Any suggestions?

When you say you converted the clips before importing them into FCE, did you convert to AIC or DV and do the converted clips match your FCE Sequence settings exactly? If not, go back and convert the original files again, using the intended Sequence settings as a guide.

Movie Clips Trouble

Just wondering if anyone can help me.
I have a series of movie clips, movieClip1_mc, movieClip2_mc,
movieClip3_mc.............etc. and i have another series of
dragable movie clips, drag1_mc, drag2_mc,
drag3_mc...............etc.
I need to code my action script so that when drag1_mc is
droped within movieClip1_mc or 2 or 3 etc that the name of the
movie clip which is the target (ie movieClip1_mc) to be put into a
variable, from there i can then work with that variable.
Any ideas, i hope that makes sense :)

Okay so ive set up my array with all of the movie clips names
inside, this array is called 'mcArray'
Than i set up a simple loop but i dont know if this is
correct:

now inside this i am required to put the hit test in arent i?
So far i put this in
drag1_mc.hitTest(i);
This is a total stab in the dark at this so im sorry if im
wrong, lol however this bring up false for every field in the array
when i trace it, is this because my code is wrong or because my
movie clips are not in the same place, they start off on the same
level but drag1_mc goes down a few more levels than movieClip_mc,
could this be my problem??

Changing movie clip alpha with a button

Hello all
I need a freindly nudge in the right direction.
I need to change the alpha properties of a movie clip with a
button press, but if the alpha cannot go below 20.
I have the first part ok but just cannot figure out how to
limit the alpha change so that it does not go below 20.

Ok everything works but now there is a new problem.
if I push the increase button past the alpha == 100 the alpha
does not change but to decrease it will not change until it gets
back down to the 100% point.
Example:
it takes 4 button presses on decrease to get to 20% alpha and
4button presses on increase to get back to 100%
If I press increase 3 more times past 100% then I need to
press decrease 3 times to get back down to 100% and the 4th
decrease button will cause an alpha change.

Trouble with extracting file for Flash Professional cs5.5 because of error occurring??

Im having trouble extracting the file as it has fully downloaded but then it comes up with a warning box which says The following disk images could not be opened and then an image and reason with this below it FlashPro_11_5_LS1.dm error -4960 not to sure what to do about this??

Which operating system are you using? If you look in the Adobe Download Assistant is it still downloading the install files?

Troubles with .m1v Files

Hi All
I am having trouble working with .m1v files in Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
I exported the .m1v (video only mpeg files) in Adobe Premiere Pro with the Adobe Media Encoder.
But now, when I try to add metadata to these .m1v files by right clicking on one- the right click menu no longer has file info as an option. And further, under the file menu- file info is grayed out when a .m1v file is selected. I also tried selecting the .m1v file and clicking in the IPTC core dialogue box, but when I do this, Bridge gives me an error box that reads: "This property cannot be modified"
Any Ideas???

It's simpler to just reinstall the OS, followed by running Software Update. Reinstalling shouldn't take too long and only replaces the system components and the basic Apple apps, leaving all settings and other files alone.

Linking other movie clips within one flash file

It's not confusing, there's just not enough information about
what you have designed already to be able to tell you what you can
do.
How will the movies be arranged in the Flash timeline?
If the movies are all going to be within the same Flash file,
then you will need to have buttons as the links you mention. You
can create your own so that they appear as text if that's what you
want.

Trouble with music file

I'm trying to listen to a music program which they place in an archive. When I click on the "Window" icon it opens to the following window. I've chosen iTunes and Real Player without success.

In Firefox, try right-clicking or Control-clicking on the Windows link -- the one below "Available 12:05 a.m. Sunday until the next show" is the one I used. When the contextual menu appears select "Save Link As..." A Save As window should popup with "swingyears.asx" already populated, along with your default Save-to location, which might be the Desktop. Go ahead and hit Save.
You should now see a downloaded 4KB .asx file on your Desktop (or in your default download folder). This file points to the archived stream. Try double clicking on the file to open it using your default application for the .asx file type. If double-clicking on the .asx file fails, try right-clicking or Control-clicking on the file and select Open With > VLC. You can also try right-clicking on it and choose Open With > QuickTime Player and see what happens.
I had no trouble opening the file using QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or VLC. Good luck!

Trouble with SWF files in Keynote 3

I am working in Keynote for the first time and having trouble bringing in a .swf file. I am having to use a Windows XP box to build the flash file and then moving them over to a Mac to drop into Keynote. I have Keynote 3 and have QuickTime Version 7.0.4 installed. I'm running OS 10.3.9.
When I drop the .swf file onto the slide I am getting a small filmstrip looking icon with a question mark on it. Any ideas on what I have done wrong and need to do?
I have published out with Flash using Flash Player 8, 7, and 6 settings. Nothing works.
second question after I resolve this one is can I make the flash background transparent?

Actually, some of the newer formats work, but it's hit or miss. I know you have to make sure that you don't havea compress movie checked when you save out as a swf from Flash, that seems to make more of the newer versions work with QT and Keynote.

Trouble with audio file

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows why I am unable to position an audio clip where I want it to be in the composition timeline? When I add it to the composision, it places it at the very beginning of the timeline by default, and I would like it to play about 30 seconds in instead, but I am unable to move it on the timeline like I can any other layer...
any help is greatly appreciated!

That is an unusual behavior. What kind of audio is it? Is it associated with any video files? If it's some compressed format, you may wish to convert it to a plain WAV/ AIFF file. After all, AE is a compositing program and its audio handling abilities are quite limited...
