Movie closed caption

Any movie i looked. Very exciting to download but there are no closed caption logo on any movies. But wonder if there are closed caption all movies if there no icon CC on it?? Some movie i want to download but i couldnt because when i download movie and no closed caption, it will waste my money! need feedback! No CC icon but have Closed Caption????

Hi,
There doesn't seem to be a way to change the position of the captions. The captions settings are explained on pages 38 and 39 of your TV's user's guide, and I don't see anything about positions!
As for the size of the picture when playing DVDs, you'll want to take a look at the section starting on page 50 of your user's guide. There are quite a few options for picture size. While the user's guide does go into detail about what each setting does, my suggestion is to simply cycle through them and use the one your like best. Repeatedly press the "PIC SIZE" button on your remote control to cycle through the available settings.
Good luck!

dont know what to do. When watching a movie, closed caption comes up and it wont go away unless I stop the movie and restart it.  Closed caption and sub titles are off but still comes up.  I restored my apple tv to factory settings to see if that would stop it, but it didn't work still comes up. What can I do?

  • Movies playing in iTunes will not show closed captions

I have purchased several movies from the iTunes store. They all have Closed Captioning listed in the store description. I need Closed Captioning because I have hearing loss and even with my hearing aids, I cannot hear all the dialogue in movies.
In my iTunes app, I opened Preferences-->Playback and checked the box for "Show closed captioning when available." Then I play the movie in iTunes. No captions. I click on the Controls menu for Audio & Subtitles. It's grayed out.
I go to the .m4v file in Finder and open the movie with Quicktime to see whether I can get captions that way. No captions. I check the View menu for Show Closed Captioning. It's grayed out.
At this point I'm thinking these movies do not really HAVE captions, despite what the store description said. However, this proves to be wrong because I turn on my TV and start up my Apple TV 3. I select "Movies" and then "Purchased" and find these movies. When I play these movies via the Apple TV, they all show up on the TV screen with the captions working perfectly.
So, what gives? I've spent hours searching the internet for a solution, but all I can find is that the selection I've made in iTunes preferences *should* make the captions show up in iTunes. I'm stumped. I want to play the movies on my computer in iTunes (or in Quicktime) so that I don't have to be at my house in front of my TV in order the enjoy them. Is there any way I can make these movies play in iTunes with the captions showing? Can anyone make any suggestions? I'd be very grateful if someone could help me achieve this goal.

I have same problem with my son's iPod Touch running iOS 5.1.1.  I set "explicit" to off, but then many songs we purchased on iTunes that are labeled as "clean" do not show up on his iPod Touch. If I set "explicit" to on, they do show up.

  • I have purchased many movies on iTunes, now they are adding closed captioning or subtitles to those movies, BUT can not reload them so I can view those subtitles.  I am mentally disabled and need the subtitles.

Hello,  To start off, I have been a member of iTunes for awhile and have been content with them, until now.  I am legally disabled due to a head injury that happened when I was a teenager.  I am everyday functional, but I do need closed captioning(cc) or subtitles to understand the movie or TV show.  I have purchased lots of movies and TV shows from iTunes.  As any new business does, iTunes has updated itself and added features for their customers. They figure out what the consumers want and like.  I started to realize that iTunes added subtitles for the deaf and disabled, but as I was told by Apple there was nothing I could do about reloading those already purchased movies, to include the cc or subtitles.  Since then, I don't use iTunes and it's a real shame because I love electronics and it's technology.  I wish Apple would work with the consumer.  Why can't I reload the iTunes movies on my PC (Win7) with the subtitles, which they now offer, but didn't when I purchased them?  To me, that is wrong to do that to a customer.  Now that they are including cc/subtitles , everyone is able to enjoy iTunes and not be excluded.   Someone__please explain this to me.  Thank you for reading this.
    Carrie-

Untill the movie studios agree to allow past downloads of movies outside of the US, you aill always have to have a copy of purchased movies on your computer. If not, you will have to buy them again if you delete them.

  • HT4613 Is it normal that closed captions do not show in the trailers and other promos, even if they are present in the movie?  I don't want to pay to rent a movie that supposedly has CC if it doesn't show up on the samples.

I want to rent some iTunes movies with closed captions, but in order to confirm that the CCs work, tried watching the trailers first.  I have CCs enabled on the iPod touch, but no captions showed up on the trailers or promos.  Is this normal?  Can I be sure that if a movie is marked with CCs, that they will be there if I rent it?  Thanks.

    Hi Karen
Unfortunately you will likely end up implementing either a totally manual system (meaning you just add a line at the top of your topic with your breadcrumb trail as you wish to display it, then link as needed) or you will have to resort to some third party solution that isn't part of RoboHelp's features.
You might also take a moment and suggest to the RoboHelp development team that we need some flexibility with this aspect. (Link is in my sig)

  • Is this possible to put a Closed Captioned in small movie file

I ponder if this is doable, attainable and workable to do a small video file that a colleague of mine wanted me to put in a closed captioned into small movie - less than 2 to 4 minutes (three tiny small movie files). I try to explain that I don't think it is doable, attainable and workable to create a closed captioned into small movie file with Final Cut Pro X - especially with 320 in width by 240 pixel in length. My colleague insisted that I do it anyway.
I ask my colleague that if he has original movie file that I can work, so I can export the movie file that is larger than 320 by 240 pixel. He said no.
I told him that how is it possible for me to work with closed captioned into three tiny movie files for presentation-training purpose only.
My gut feeling tells me that it won't do any good, especially with TINY movie file with only 320 by 240. I told my colleague that it is MUCH easier to work with original file that is much larger than what he gave me. I mean, it is easier to edit and put closed captioned or whatever in any video footage.. whenever I am done with it, then export the finished file with closed captioned in it. I also explain to my colleague that if I work with file that is already exported movie file.. then I edit and put closed captioned in that exported file... then export it out of Final Cut Pro X, the quality would be considerable degradation.
Unfortunately, my colleague insisted that I proceed with the project. I hesistate that I'd waste my time for achieving nothing with no measureable result because my gut feeling tells me that my perspective is correct, no?
Am I correct? Is it worth it? Otherwise I'd tell my colleague that my answer will be a resounding no.
    Please advise. Thanks!

You are right that placing text subtitles on such a small size video is likely not great.
By default, FCP X does not support such a small video size; you'd have to blow it up to a standard size and then scale the result back down. But you can use a workaround to do all the work on 320x240 (see this web page:
http://library.creativecow.net/articles/payton_t/FCPX_Custom-Resolution-Timeline s/video-tutorial). That would lessen the losses.
    Still, definitely not great.

  • Closed Caption or Subtitles on Movies in iTunes for AppleTV

I bought an Apple TV Dec 2008 but am waiting for Subtitles or Closed Captions so that I can watch a movie. Does anyone know when they are going to appear? I am nearly deaf. I did rent one that I thought I saw CC on but it turned out it was not. Right now I have to use Netflix while my ATV collects dust. Nice "screen saver" but pretty expensive. Thanks.

I'm disappointed that I can't get the closed caption/subtitles on movies I've rented on iTunes. I'm pretty sure they exist, and if I had the physical DVD I could verify this. Will subtitles be available on Apple TV when they are available on the original? I tried the CC/subtitles on/off and nothing happened.

  • Movie and TV purchases do not include closed captioning

I just started using AppleTV for movie and some TV show purchases.  Before I used Netflix via AppleTV exclusively.  The problem I am encountering is ITunes movie and TV productes do not come with closed captioning.
To troubleshoot I went to Settings, Audio & Video and checked 'closed captioning' to "ON".  But still no luck.
With Netflix everything came with 'cc' and I would like to order more from ITunes but I won't until I can figure out how to get 'cc' working.

Closed captioning is not available on all content, check the information at the point of purchase to see whether content has closed captioning or not.

  • Closed Captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies?

Is it possible to select closed captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies? I rented a movie and did not see the closed caption option. Is it possible that only certain movies have the closed captioning option, or none.
I would appreciate any information regarding this subject.

You can turn on closed captioning in the AppleTV settings. Go to Settings > Video.
It is possible that not all rented movies will have closed captions. It is up to the movie studio to provide CC with the movies files they give to Apple for hosting.

  • Closed Captioning for TV shows and more movies

I too hope that Apple will add closed captioning to more movies and TV shows.  Especially for all it's customers who have been blasting songs into their ears from their ipods.  The hearing impared population is growing!

  • How can I browse movies with Closed Captioning?

I want to be able to browse movies with CC, and can't find a way to quickly do this. I used to with the Powersearch feature, but I can't find it within the new iTunes. It makes looking for movies a very long and frustrating experience, since not having closed captioning is not an option for me.

OK i replied with the idea of repurposing ``genres because that would give you what you want. I do not think there is any way else in iTunes 11.0.1
So if you created a Closed Caption Genre and assigned it to all your closed caption films, when you browse Genre and select Closed Caotion then all those films appear in the roight and you can browse to your heart's content.
Or if you require more granular control the Genre field can have mahy entries sepasrated with a comma
eg CC, Comedy or you could go CC Comedy.
I do not know of another way of doing this maybe someone else can help.
Did you used to be able to do this in earlier versions of iTunes

  • Why do I have subtitles over subtitles on some of my recently purchased Movies.? My closed caption option is turned off.

Why do I have subtitles over subtitles on some of my recently purchased Movies.? My closed caption option is turned off.
Recent purchases have been Avengers, John Carter, 30 days of night. All of them do it.
Please help me get rid of them.....

The subtitle only appears in the begining of the movie during the scene with the russians. The issue has been fixed where the subtitles appear doubled. Just a simple redownload from the cloud is needed. Make sure you delete the copy in the itunes library before redownloading. Heres the email I got today:
    Dear iTunes Customer,
Thank you for downloading the movie The Avengers. Unfortunately, the movie you received may have had issues with the subtitles. We have corrected the problem and a new copy is available to download, free of charge. To receive the new version, please re-download the title from iTunes.
Before downloading the new version, remove the current version:
    1) Open iTunes on your computer.
    2) Click on your Movies library.
    3) Click the movie to select it, and press the Delete key.
    4) Click Delete Movie and then click Move to Trash.
    To download the new version:
    1) Sign into the iTunes Store.
    2) Click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store under the QUICK LINKS section.
    3) Click on Movies and select the movie you want to download.
    4) Click the Cloud download icon to download the movie.
You will now have an updated version of the movie in your Movies Library.
To delete and download the movie from other devices, seehttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

  • Closed Caption Features for iTune Movie Downloads?

While I was glad to see that Apple plans to offer a movie download service with the iTunes Store, I'm still inclined to NOT use the service if there's no assurance that closed captioned/subtitled movies will be available as well.
Will iTunes Movie downloads include captioned media?
Today's DVDs all have features enabling us to turn on captions/subtitles and it's already a shame that Netflix, according to a representative's comment made nearly two years ago, will not provide captioned movies "until the near future"...
I hope Apple takes its hearing-impaired (deaf and hard of hearing) customer base into consideration...and it IS a sizeable customer base.

The question on the minds of the millions of deaf and hard of hearing people is whether Apple will make or enable captioning for their downloadable movies. I blogged about this a few weeks ago at HearingExchange online here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/blogs/?p=93 Apple didn't consider people with hearing loss when they made their iPhone non-compatible with hearing aids and cochlear implant processors. For a technology company, they aren't keeping up with accessibility trends. This is both disheartening and disappointing for people who struggle to participate socially and professionally on a daily basis with the world at large.

  • Closed Captioning of iTunes movie rentals on iPhone

I rented a movie from iTunes that is closed captioned (Oceans Eleven) and I turned on closed captioning on my iPhone (settings, iPod, closed captioning on). Yet, no closed captions display when I watch the movie on my iPhone. What am I missing? Why are captions not able to be viewed?

OK, it was Oceans Thirteen, not Eleven. But the caption symbol is displayed in iTunes. I tried playing it on my iPhone and my Mac Pro, no dice. Captioning does not work on either system and captioning is turned on in both.

  • Why are closed caption movies being pulled from iTunes?

As of today there is only one movie left in all of iTunes that is Closed Captioned. This is a real problem for those in the deaf community that have purchased iPods & iPhones, or even just those who use iTunes on Macs & PCs.
While Apple may not be fully liable, I am sure it is against the spirit of the ADA, and definitely not consumer friendly.
There is a small argument for blaming the movie studios for not providing CC content. Apple should be proactive in requesting movies be CC.
What is the reason for pulling existing movies that were CC and replacing them with non-CC versions?

If the CC movies are coming back, how does that work with those of use who purchased non-CC movies? I see 145 movies, not too many of which I want to see.
I love the Harry Potter movies, but I have a harder and harder time understanding them. My deafness is such that not only do I find it difficult to understand what's being spoken if there's a lot of ambient noise, but I also have a lot of difficulty with foreign accents (my being USian). My hearing is bad enough to qualify me for a TTY phone! The sound quality (even if the settings are the same in iTunes) is uneven across the movies, and all I want to do is watch the movie and understand what's being said!
If I can't get the closed captioning with the movies and TV shows on iTunes, I'll just have to purchase or rent from Blockbuster and the like.
It boggles my mind that iTunes has overlooked this issue. I guess you get what you pay for.
