Movie control bar in iwev
I have done a spreadsheet with numerous movie clips. They all worked fine until just recently. The movie control bar will not accept inputs. It works fine in iweb. I ultimately just went to autoplay to keep the site running. There is a small down pointing triangle when the bar appears on the web.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?

Hello everyone.
I got this strange problem with my quicktime since 3 days ago.
every time I view a quicktime movie online in my browser the whole movie control bar turned into black.
it still functions , I just can't see it.
Any idea.
ThanksNope, no solution or comment other than "Apple doesn't support 64bit Windows".
It was working for me a long time ago, but it broke with an updated version of QT, somewhere around 7.0.X
And unless you specifically pick IE 64bit, you're probably running 32bit QT Plugin inside a 32bit web browser anyways. There shouldn't be a problem other than Apple broke something and doesn't care to fix it.

Remove control bar from MOV clip
I dropped a MOV file into the web page and it created a
control bar at the bottom. This is nice for most uses, but I don't
want it. Any idea how to remove the bar? I tried re-sizing the
graphic, but that just resizes it from the middle, so the result is
that I would have to cut off a portion from the top equal to the
size of the control bar at the bottom :-(set controller parameter to "false"

Compose movie FLV without control bars?
How do I produce a SWF that acts as a Flash-player that does not have a control bar? All of the ones I have place a control bar on top of the visual.
THANKS!As Todd suggested, you can get much more help on that on the Flash forums. The short answer: You need a standard player, but you hide the playback controls by feeding it with proper external parameters (Flashvars) in the HTML code that control what is actualyl visible. For certain scenarios you may also wish to properly embed the FLV video in an SWF file instead of using a streaming player such as is the default e.g. in Dremweaver.

Video Control Bar in Flash Displays on HD but Not From Webserver
I am using Flash Pro 8 - putting FLV files in SWF files using
Flash Pro 8 and then "publishing" to Html and SWF to a location on
my hard drive.
When I display the webpage from my Hard Drive from where ever
on my hard drive I initially published to from Flash 8 Pro -
everything works fine - videos play and video control bar shows and
works.
When I publish this website to web server the video displays
and plays but NO Video Controller Bar (at bottom of the video)
shows at all.
Symptom: when I make an Html, SWF and FLA file into a folder
on my hard drive and display them in the browser the video control
bar shows. When I copy those three files into the hard drive
website in FrontPage, the video shows but the video control bar
does not.
So, I re-made the Html, SWF, and FLA files and put them
directly into the FrontPage website (on my hard drive) then
everything works fine when I use broswer (IE 6 or Firefox). z
But, when I publish the hard drive website to the remote
website hosting company, the video control bar disappears -
everything else works fine (video shows OK just no video controller
bar.)
My guess is that the SWF file has a non-relative URL
reference concerning the video control bar and when the three files
(Html, SWF and FLA) are moved to new location then that
non-relative address rears its head.
I should NOT publish from Flash 8 Pro directly to remote
webserver as it has FrontPage Extensions and does not like to talk
to FTP changes to website not coming from FrontPage client.
is my guess right? What to do?????

1. When I encoded the video in flash I selected one of the
pre-packaged control bars (so the user can control basic
functions). I then published an HTML and a .swf. The HTML works
perfectly however when I use Dreamweaver to insert the .swf it does
not carry over the control bar. I have tried pulling over the
control bar .swf and placing it under the video file but a HUGE
object is imported with a bunch of controls that do not work (bunch
of controls = play/pause/etc).
make sure the component skin is uploaded in same directory as
swf, movie, html

The second issue is this; the user still has to click once on
the video to use the controls... does anyone know what I am doing

Setting control bar to resume auto-play (Captivate 6)
Hi,
I am currently using Captivate 6 to create an eLearning course. We have decided to display the bottom control bar to allow flexibility for the student to move between screens in each lesson. Currently if the student uses the progress arrow in the control bar to move forward or backward the lesson pauses and the user has to press the Play button to resume the lesson.
Does anyone know of a setting within Captivate or whether it is possible to program the control bar so that it will resume auto-play mode whenever the student uses the progress bar to move back and forth within a lesson?
Cheers,
RichardHello and welcome
I think you are talking about scrubbing the progress bar? I don't know about a way to achieve AutoPlay. Moreover, if your course is not linear, it is not a good idea to give free navigation that way at all. Same for the buttons on the normal playbars. I almost never use it for that reason. Another way to allow free navigation is the TOC (which you can have in overlay so that it can be hidden/shown by the user). In the TOC it is easier to show chapters, and if you add labels to the slides, at least user will know where he is going to.

I have created a video with a control bar in Flash 8. When I run the .swf file by itself (in Flash player or IE) the control bar is there but when I add it to my web page the control bar is missing. Can anyone help please?
My embedding code is:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="492" height="360" title="Samaritans">
<param name="movie" value="docs/video1.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<embed src="docs/video1.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="492" height="360"></embed>
</object>That is old-style embedding code which might not work for all browsers. So if you want to address that aspect then you should consider looking into making use of swfObject embedding which is available thru the following link...
http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/
Aside from that, since you are loading the swf from a different folder than where the html page is, that could be the source of your problem if you have not coded the swf to work in that file structure. When you embed an swf into an html page, the html page becomes the reference basis for any files that the swf tries to load. So if you have not done so, your swf needs to target any files it loads as if it is sitting in the same folder as the html page... it does not have to be in that folder, but it does have to act like it is since when it is loaded into that html page it is as good as living there anyways. -

Is there a way to get rid of the control bar which pops up anytime you move the mouse during the slide show? I am putting together an audio visual presentation with two laptops and a bunch of other stuff.
(video/audio mixer, stage lighting etc.) With a split screen I can run iPhoto/iMovie from either laptop on the "big" screen while controlling the sound from the laptop through the small screen....
Problem is, while the audience is watching the big screen, and I touch the mouse, the control bar shows up at the bottom of their screen......no good....
Thanks.You're rather far beyond the intended uses of iPhoto there my friend. No there's no way to stop that menu appearing. You might be best to consider using a different application or export the slideshow as a Quicktime Movie. Alternative apps which might help are PhotoToMovie or PhotoPresenter, both of which integrate with iPhoto.

Creating a Volume Control Bar for multiple audio files
I'm fairly new to Flash and am developing a project with a
series of frames that contain unique movie clips. Each of these
frames are accessible through a chapter based menu as well as being
viewable straight through as a regular movie. I've just added the
audio for each "chapter" / frame that are all unique from one
another. I'm having a problem with creating a volume control bar
that will affect all audio throughout all frames from the single
control bar on the general skin/interface that these chapters work
out of. (Using Flash 8)
I developed a sliding control bar, which works but does not
affect the volume in any way. Is there something wrong with the
following coding that I'm using? (The control bar is made up of a
button nested in a movie clip and the action is being applied to
the mc. The bar/line to follow is 60px long and the control is to
move horizontally while the increase corresponds to increase in
volume. The original code was for a 100px line from a macromedia
tutorial that I adjusted to be 60px) Any advice on best practice
for creating a volume control bar would be greatly appreciated! (I
currently have all of my corresponding audio files on separate
layers, should I be placing these within a mc rather than just
having them on the main timeline?) Thank You!!!!Answering my own question.....
Each individual swf has the code...
var my_sound:Sound = new Sound();
my_sound.loadSound("someSound.mp3", true);
my_sound.setVolume(50);
Code on Shell/main slide....
//SOUND OBJECT
var soundtrack:Sound = new Sound;
soundtrack.setVolume(50);
//END OF SOUND OBJECT
//GLOBAL VOLUME CONTROL
var nVolCheck:Number;
volSlider.volBall.onPress = function():Void {
this.startDrag (false, 0, 0, 75, 0);
nVolCheck = setInterval(updateVolume, 150);
volSlider.volBall.onRelease = function():Void {
this.stopDrag ();
clearInterval(nVolCheck);
function updateVolume():Void {
var vol:Number = (volSlider.volBall._x)*2;
soundtrack.setVolume(vol);
//END OF GLOBAL VOLUME CONTROL
my bar is 75 pixels in width and the volume is being
increased by 1.5 at its maximum. -
Creating single .swf file without border causes control bar jump
If the goal is creating a single .swf file and the answer is
to simply uncheck the border checkbox, there's a small problem. If
there is a Captivate control bar -- in my case a full length
stretched one -- it will ride up and over the Captivate movie,
covering some of the movie. In my case the control bar is riding up
and over several buttons referenced in the project, screwing things
up considerably.
How can we keep the control bar from riding up -- or more
specifically perhaps being loaded over top of the project -- such
that it obscures part of the project?
Quick answers would be really fantastic!
Thanks!Thanks Paul,
That did work. I use a pretty stripped down control bar so
adding in 27 pixles works. A cohort mentioned that Captivate 1
required a similar work around -- though it only produced a single
file. It'd have been nice to have known before her co-worker.
It's too bad there's not some verbage somewhere -- maybe in
the help -- that explains that adding a control bar to an exisiting
project will result in the toolbar obscuring some of the project --
how much depending on the size of the control bar.
It'd be great to have a little checkbox that would allow the
project to expand the exact number of needed pixels so that the
project and control bar were nearly mated together.
To come full circle, after I've done this and gotten the two
together, I have to resize again -- this time down -- for my
project.
So after making it bigger to fit the control bar, I resize it
again to make it smaller, make adjustments to the text -- which
doesn't seem to scale -- and to the caption boxes that don't mate
exactly anymore and publish. What I found is that the file size is
now closer to the original "larger" project file.
I find this curious, as I was finding when the control bar
was on top of the project before learning this workaround that the
file size for a smaller resolution project was actually turning out
larger. That never made sense to me.
After the workaround, it's actually close to the same size.
Thanks for your help! -
In QuickTime 10 is there a way to hide the movie controls when paused?
Is there anyway to hide the movie controls in quicktime when pausing movies? It's quite irritating when trying to analyse video, especially when resolution is low, and can't move the controls out of the video window to see whole picture. There should be a way to move them outside the movie window?
Click the mouse while it is over the player window. The onscreen controls and title bar will disappear.

No Movie Controls on Quicktime Export?
When I export my presentation into quicktime, there is no control bar at the bottom.
How do I make that show up?
Thanks!I'm a novice with QT Pro also, but I believe this is how to do it. Open the movie file. Go to "window>show movie properties" and then click the "presentation" tab. Towards the bottom, there's a drop-down menu where you can specify the movie controller type. I just chose the generic "movie controller", and it worked fine.
Then go to "file>export". From there you can choose your export settings. I did "movie to quicktime movie" and then clicked the "options" button, where I enabled "Fast Start", which allows the movie to start playing before it is entirely downloaded from the web. -
SWF Control via Standard Control Bar
We would like to control the playback of SWF movie much like
you would a FLV via a standard media control bar. The pre built
controls in Flash work well with video FLVs but do not work with
SWFs. It is important for our core content files to remain as SWFs
as they are true vector animations with an MP3 sound track which we
would like our users to be able to pause, start, scan, control
volume, etc. Rendering them as FLVs causes a lot of file bloat and
the compression is not kind to large areas of flat field color,
etc.
These SWFs are prebuilt and exist as separate elements
imported into our Flash Project.
So, is it possible to control a SWF as such?
Are there pre built elements for sale anywhere on line so we
would not have to build the control code and interface art from
scratch?
How difficult would this be to code from scratch if
necessary?
THANKS!!!

rtvfHi Saqib,
Sorry, I made a typo: I meant user-status (not user-exit). It is also possible have user-statusses in place for network activities. You can customize a user status in that way that it is automatically set at creation or release or a lot of other business transactions.
I can't give the correct business transactions: I think blocking FI-postings related to the activity will do the trick. Unfortunately I have no time to do the checking.

Video Player Control Bar hidden by OSX's Menu Bar
