Movie files are not recognized

MacBook is from late 2007 OS X 10.5.8. Last December, I had to change harddrive and after the new harddrive, movies (from DVD´s or attachment with .mvw format) are not recognized. Quick Time Player and DVD Player are installed.
YouTube, streaming movies, news clips etc are OK
Any hints?

cceder,
QuickTime cannot handle all kinds of video unless you install extra tools, such as Perian:
http://perian.org/
Alternatively, you can try VLC media player, which supports most video and audio formats.

  • My lightroom 4 will not import my files from my compact flash card . It has been working for years with out fail but now there is no import previews and it says the files are not recognized by raw format support in LR

I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"

Don't feel too bad.  If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4.   The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported.  The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here.  Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac.   Product updates
On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version.  If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person.

  • Just purchased Nikon D610. tried to import 3 images and got this message: The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. How do I fix this frustrating problem. Have been using Lightroom for years also Nikon products without any prior

How do I import images. Have a message that says: The files are not recognized by the raw format suppot in Lightroom. Am using a Mac version 10.9.4. the import is from a new Nikon D610. Am using LR 4.4 Please help Adobe is useless as a support.

Each camera must be supported explicity and your LR version is years older than your camera.
According to Adobe's Camera-support page, you need at least LR 5.3 to work with your D610 NEFs in LR:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
If you don't want to upgrade to LR 5, or can't due to your OS being too old, then it might work to use the latest DNG Converter and create DNGs from your NEFs, which should open in LR 4.x.  You can find the DNG Converter here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates

  • Im running lightroom 4 and just purchased the Sony A7 and using its sd card. when I   tried to load the photos, I got a message "the files are not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom"

Tried loading my raw files shot w my new Sony a7 and its sd card into lightroom4. Got a message: "The files are not recognized by the raw format in lightroom"
Does Lightroom 4 not work with the Sony A7?
    Thanks,

Lightroom 4 cannot read the RAW photos from a Sony A7
You would have to download and install the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 8.5 and then convert your RAW to DNG, and then import the DNGs into Lightroom 4
You could also purchase Lightroom 5.5, which will have the capability to read the RAWs directly.

  • Canon 7D Mark II error "Files are not recognized by the raw format support in Light (149)"?

Has anyone tried to load raw files from a Canon 7D Mark II I get an error "Files are not recognized by the raw format support in Light (149)"?

Based on previous experience, I expect the final versions of LR, ACR and DNGC to be released simultaneously.  We have so far seen Release Candidates of ACR and DNGC but not LR.
Unless there needs to be a second ACR/DNGC Release Candidate which happens once every few years for special circumstances, which I don't see any of at the moment.

  • Files are not recognized

Files stored in External FireWire HardDisk strated to behave problematically. First I thought the problem was with QuickTime as most of the files are .mov files, but after more investigations .jpg .PSD .dmg and .aif files stored to that same disk seem to behave similarily.
Here are descriptions of how problem occurs:
    1) The preview in finder column view shows only blank space, but not a movie.
    2) Instead of opening the file QT claims that "This is not a movie file"
    3) Not all the files in the disk are injured but about 80 % of them. There might be in same folder movies that behaves normally and movies that behaves as described above.
I have restarted the machine few times and repaired the disk with disk utility, with not any couraging results...
If there were any ideas what the problem might be, and how to fix it, advices would be very much appreciated.
    Screenshots of the problem:

"I have restarted the machine few times and repaired the disk with disk utility, with not any couraging results..."
Try running repair permissions and +repair disk+ from your +software install+ DVD.
If you have DiskWarrior or any other 3rd party utility programs run them if the above does not work.
Regarding your QT issue, suggest that cross-post and/or search your issue over in the QuickTime Forums. There are plenty of postings w/your issue w/possible solutions.

  • .Mov files are not playing on my Mac BookPro

As of this week, I am unable to play my .mov files through Quick Time on my Mac Book Pro.  A small windo appears and states that sometype of conversion is occurring and eventually some of my movie files will play.
I am at work creating a .mov file through quick time and the file will not play.

That's a well documented limitation of JavaFX. Mov files are simply not supported.

You should vote for the corresponding JIRA entries.
    Maybe it helps.

  • ProEngineer files are not recognized by Acrobat 9 Pro Ext.

It seems that Acrobat has problems with the numbers at the end of Pro Engineer Files.
When you save a file in Pro E the file get a number at the end which marks the version of the file. So the name of a Pro E file is:
    "Filename.prt.1"
save it again in Pro E generates a file named
    "Filename.prt.2"
When I open Acrobat and choose "File/Create PDF/From File" and went to a folder with Pro E files, I can't see anything. Under File type there is "All known fileformats" set. I can set it to "Pro/Engineer" but that doesn't change anything.
Only when I delete the number at the end of the ProE file I can choose it in Acrobat.
When I edit an existing pdf-document and want to insert a 3d file from ProE I mark an area with the 3D-Tool and choose a file. In this fact I can see also files with numbers at the end. But when I choose this file and press OK Acrobat tell me that the file is not supported. Only a file with no number at the end works.
Is there a patch the make Acrobat recognizing ProE files with numbers at the end? Or some other help?

With the second one the problem was not not to inactivate the object.
When I have two objects on different sites and I want to show it to our customers I will navigate in the first site to a specila view. Then I change to the other site and navigate also to a specila view. Now I will go back to the first site to compare the to objects. But the view has been inactivating. It should be still activated when I scroll across the document when I set the option "Deactivate when = clicking on it and choose deactivate" Because with this option you said that it could only be deactivated when you explicit click on the object and choose deactivate. Thats the way it worked in Acrobat83D.
Thanks for the workaround with "Show toolbar" Now I can set the toolbar to "not shown" Thats excellent at presentation for customers beacuse there the toolbar is distracting.
b Now we have a bug list with four items:
*Open menu that does not recognize some filename extension
*Create object with 3D-Tool creates an error when choose ProE file with version number.
*Setting the option for 3D-object after creating it. (toolbar hide)
*Set the "deactivate when" option to "deactivate only when you click on it and choose deactivate" makes the object deactivating also when you navigate to other sites. It should still be activate.

  • MOV files are not able to be synced into iPhone.

    Hi, there,
Here is how I get this problem.
I took the video on the iPhone 4, imported in Image Capture into a MacBook, so now in MacBook it is like IMG_xxxx.MOV.
Now move this file into a Windows XP, where I sync my personal stuff is. So in iTune, under the Pictures tab, Include Video was checked, and after sync, the error message says:
some video items were not copied into iPhone because these videos are not able to play on this iPhone.
it was sync ok before, after I turned on iTuen and upgrade to 10.5.3.3 today, iTune for Windows.
but the funny thing is, that MOV file was initially generated on this iPhone, how come it says it can not be playback on this iPhone?
    my iPhone is iPhone4, 5.0.1
    any suggestion/idea?
    Thanks a lot!

  • MP4 Movie Files are not added to Itunes Library

I have a Macbook Pro I just recently got a week ago, and I have been using Itunes in Mac OS X, but when I tried to add some of my MP4 movies into Itunes on Mac OS, the files do not appear in the library and there is not copy bar for copying the files into the Itunes folder. I have had this problem ever since I started using Ituens on Mac OS and I tried reinstalling Itunes and the same problem comes up. I know the problem is not with the MP4 files because I added the files into Itunes on Windows XP on my other computer and they are added just fine. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I think I figured out why the MP4 files were not being added into the Itunes Library, it is because Mac OS X apparently cannot copy files onto a Windows Formatted external harddrive, even though I thought I could.

  • .Mov files are "not supported" on my mac?

One more test.  Add this last modified meta tag to your page in code view, right below your <title> </title> tags.

Upload to server.  Refresh browser. Can you see the new page now?
If not, contact your host.  Your site may be up, but on some of the cheaper web hosting accounts (not saying yours is cheap BTW b/c I don't know anything about them), servers don't reflect updates right away.  Also, make  sure you haven't run out of   server space and you're uploading to the correct folder?

  • Lightroom 4.1 exported JPEG files are not recognized by Apple Preview App

I just started using Lightroom 4.1 Trial version (coming from Aperture). I exported JPEG versions of some images using an ICC profile. On my iMac running Lion 10.7.5 the pictures do not show a thumbnail, the file on the desktop just shows "JPEG". I could not open the file with the Preview App, but I am able to open it with DPP (Canon software)? Also the file shows that it has 0 x 0 dimentions when I click Get Info even though it is about 25 Megs in size?
    The message I get is
"The file “Edit-739820120223Canon EOS 7D.jpg” could not be opened.
It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
Does anyone know why this is hapening?
Is it a know issue between Adobe and Apple?
Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks for help in advance.

25MB is quite a large filesize for a JPG, and this might be either quite a lot of pixels saved at a very "high" quality (not very much compressed), or it may be an extremely large number of pixels saved with medium compression.
While the technical spec of the JPG format imposes an absolute limit on maximum width and height pixel dimensions, some software employs a lower limit above which it considers the file to be invalid. Different programs, different limits, sometimes.
I have encountered this (for example) with pano stitched images using the full resolution of a large number of component shots - where JPG output could not be made, or if made, could not even be viewed as a whole by my standard image viewer (though TIFF was still OK even at still larger sizes).
If Lightroom has been set to a large printed size AND to a high ppi resolution, it is easy to get into very high numbers and very large output files. One should IMO at least question the utility and benefit of using very high ratios of upsampling from a standard digital photo - which may happen in some cases as a result of using the same output settings regardless, when spreading the same data across both small and large scales. If the file that was imported into LR really does provide an unusually high number of pixels expressing lots of detail, then that will better deserve such a capacious output file. Otherwise, each part of the file may merely show a very highly detailed representation, of a very blurry nothing-much-in-particular.
If the JPG has exceeded the viewer's size limits, a reported width and height of 0 may represent an error message, in effect - not actual reality.
    regards, RP

  • I have iphoto 6 and my pictures are no longer showing.  I have tried importing them but it just give me an error msg. (file format not recognized) I have tried rebuilding the iphoto library but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

I have iphoto 6 and my pictures are no longer showing.  I have tried importing them but it just give me an error msg. (file format not recognized) I have tried rebuilding the iphoto library but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

    How did you rebuild?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.
