Movie files saved as iTunes image

When I save movie files on my computer now they are saved as .mov but they have the iTunes image. They now open in iTunes when double clicked. My permissions are fine and the disk utility finds nothing wrong with the system or hard drives. The only way I can fix the problem is to get info and change the file to open with Quicktime. Anyone have a solution for this? I do not want my movies files to play in iTunes. I want then to play in Quicktime.

Depends on where they originated or something new set in QT 7.1+. Launch QT Player and note that the movie trailers point to the music store and not to http://www.apple.com/trailers/. I guess they're looking to get your nickels.

  • .mov file saved from other Mac not working on new Macbook

My old Macbook Pro started acting funny so I saved all my pictures and videos to USB drives. My new Macbook (OSX 10.5.8) with QuickTime (version 7.6.4) will not open the .mov files. Per another similar thread it was suggested to enable the "Show legacy encoders" under QuickTime Advanced Preferences, but it still won't work. QuickTime opens and plays the file but there is no sound or picture? Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean here. Did you use the "Save As..." option to save the files as "Reference" movies to the USB drive? If so, they can't open because the "Standalone" reference file is not available on the mew system for playback.
QuickTime opens and plays the file but there is no sound or picture?
Confused here. Which is it? "QuickTime (version 7.6.4) will not open the .mov files" or "QuickTime opens and plays the file but there is no sound or picture?"
Codecs: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, DV, Tween, Integer (Big Endian)
What QT application are your referring to here? A "Tween" track is not usual for captured DV/AIFF content and would probably cause problems with an application like iMovie '08/'09 which don't like all possible MOV container track types.
That's unusual, there is no Format information available. Just 1)source, 2)data size, 3)data range, 4)current time, and 5)duration.
Sounds like corruption in the file, the QT embedded structure or the QT player. If the "small" files (like MPeG4/AAC) play okay, and only large ones (like DV/AIFF) have problems, then you may wish to check the USB drive format for file size limitations, data integrety, and/or other problems.

  • How to display 1st screen of movie file as a thumbnail image?

    Hi.
I have a site that allows registered users to upload a video
    file.
I would like to display the 1st screen shot from the video
    file as a
thumbnail image for the file (like YouTube).
Is there any way of automating this as part of the file
    upload or will I
have to manually create the thumbnail for each video file?
    Thanks.
    Regards
    Nath.

I was thinking about this issue some more and realized an error in my thinking. For some reason I believed that when ecards were activated they played right "within" the image within the body of the email that the user clicked on, but now i remember that after the click the movie opens in another window then plays. I've been able to publish the swf file with one of the jpg's in the file. Now i would like to somehow use that jpg, or any image for that matter, as a springboard to the swf flash file (that would play in a new window) without having to create a hyperlink to the swf file. I would like the "open swf and play" command as well as the swf file to "live" within the image in the email so that when a user clicks on the image, a separate window opens and the swf plays. Can this be done?

  • .mov files and jello type images

I have shot some footage in 1080p on a Kodak Ki8 camera to capture car travelling shots using a Camzilla suction pad camera mount  There are two questions I'd like help on.
Firstly, I notice some shots seem to look as if the image floats as if it was jelly. Someone said this happens even with his Go Pro and he thinks it's to do with the CMOS sensors. Anyboidy got an opinion?
Secondly -the files are all .mov files. I use FCE4.0.1 and need to know the step by step procedure to capture them to the FCE Browser so they can be dragged to the FCE Timeline. Do these need to be transcoded? I thought .mov was an Apple friendly format?
    Thanks

    1. is a rolling shutter problem and can be mitigated in FCPX.
    2. should just be able to import the media depending on the exact specifications and your system's capabilities.

  • Video or Movie files added to iTunes are copied to ATV

Whenever I drag and drop files into my iTunes Library it always automatically copies to my Apple TV too. I haven't been able to figure out why its doing that and how I can stop it. I don't want everything meant to be on my iPod to be on my ATV. I only notice this with movies or other videos I bring into iTunes. I have control over my music via playlists. Here's another example. I have a BluRay DVD with the Digital copy disc. I set it up so I can watch the movie on my iPod and a few minutes later I see the movie being copied over to my ATV! I have SYNC movies checked in the ATV menu. Should I uncheck that box and if so will that allow me to manually sync what I want on my ATV?

If it's AppleTV1 then change to Custom sync, then manually select the movies to sync.

  • How do you Retireve Pages files saved in itunes

I have been saving files from pages to iTunes. When I go to the iTunes app on the ipad, i am not bale to retieve those files. Please help!

Pages files will never appear in the iTunes app on your iPad. That app is for purchasing from the iTunes Store. If you want to view Pages files on your iPad, you need the Pages for iOS app. Then you look in the app. This presumes of course that you have synched those documents to your iPad from your computer.

  • PSD files saved as Photoshop Image 13

I have been using Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) on my Windows 8.1 laptop (64 bit) for over a year and has been working perfect. About two days ago something weird happened. All of my PSD files show that they are Photoshop Image 13 files instead of showing it as a regular Photoshop document. When I open a file or import another Photoshop file, I get a dialogue box saying that the "file cannot be opened because it is not compatible with the current version of Photoshop". I can't figure out what happened. I never saved any files differently that could cause this. I even checked my preferences to see if something was accidentally changed but everything is unchanged. I even uninstalled Design And Web Premium CS6 from my computer and reinstalled it to no avail. What happened? Can someone please help!

  • File Saving with Linked Images

Why does file saves take longer when images are linked (not embedded.) ? It's just linking to the file, it should be nice and quick to save, such as it is in inDesign.

You are probably saving using the default save options. This means Illustrator is saving the file twice in one file: once as a native Illustrator file and once as a high resolution PDF with images embedded. The PDF is used when you place the Illustrator file in InDesign or rasterize with Photoshop. If you don’t need either of those things, do a Save As and turn off PDF Compatibility. I have seen files drop from over 200 MB to under 1 MB.

Do a clean install and delete the Firefox program folder.
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
    * Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Regarding Artwork and managing of iTunes Movie files on a NAS Drive

My Macbook hard drive was virtually full so like many other people in my situation I made space by moving my Movies and TV folders from iTunes media to a NAS networked hard drive connected to my network router at home.  That's great, freed up loads of space and when I'm home my iTunes wirelessly finds it and can even stream the content via my Apple TV.  My question now though is how do I add artwork to movie files that I have ripped from my DVD's?  I've been going into the info pane and adding artwork as I normally do and clicking ok, but then nothing changes.  It's as if iTunes cannot write the artwork image to the file on the NAS drive, or connect the thumbnail to it.
This has led me to question how do I now add a new movie file to my iTunes if the folder is located on a NAS drive now.  I also normally add a movie file to my iTunes library and then amend it's metadata i.e. the video type (movie/TV Shows), add artwork etc.  My concern is that I'm not sure how to add more files and also once I do I cannot seem to amend the metadata.
Does anyone have experience in this and can they explain how best to do it.

I have a similar setup with an iMac and media library on a TC and can add some converted movies but not all and changes to metadata don't save.  Files aren't hidden somewhere in Home movies.  I thought it was a format issue so switched to m4v Apple format and found that i can add some to the library but not others.  Any that do add, don't take changes to the metadata - no error message, just doesn't process.  Interestingly, I recently upgrades from a Windows pc to the Mac and under Windows it worked perfectly!

  • Why does iTunes create disk errors when deleting movie files?

I use a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.7.5. When I delete movie file from my iTunes library I get disk errors. I need to option boot select the recovery disk and repair the disk.  Deleting a movie file I have placed on my desktop with finder does not create any errors.  Most of the movie files are created as .m4v movies. They all play just fine with my Apple TV. I have tried turning off the Apple TV and rebooting before I delee files but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
    Lance

If you let iTunes organise your media folders then that is the way it is. An option would be to change the Media Kind to TV Show which would gather them togther in one folder, but in a different part of the library.

  • Can`t movies files into iTunes

    Hi,
I am trying to move movies files into the iTunes library by dragging them and without success.
I have tried to add the files with the file menu with the same results.
    Using iTunes 10.5
Can anyone help me with this?
    thanks,
    Amnon

Itunes only accepts MP4, M4V and MOV formats.  You will have to get a third party Video converter to convert AVI to Apple format.

  • Setting up iTunes on a Windows computer to use movie files on Time Machine?

I posted this question in the TC Forum, too, but upon reflection thought that I should do so here, too.
I have succeeded in mapping my TC’s hard drive to my desktop Windows (XP Professional) computer. I have also changed the iTunes Music folder location on that computer to the folder on the TC’s hard drive that contains my MP4 movie files. I want to be able to leave iTunes open in the XP desktop at all times so that I can stream movies from iTunes to my Apple TV whenever I want. Currently, I am using iTunes on my MBP with Apple TV. The problem with that is that the MBP has to be awake and iTunes open. That’s a problem because I like to close the MBP when I am not using it.
My problem is that I don’t know how to make movie files on the TC show up in iTunes on the XP desktop. I assume, but don’t know that, because my iTunes Music folder is now designated as being on the TC, whatever I do will not use a lot of hard drive space on the XP desktop. Nevertheless, I need to know before I try it because my movie files are exponentially larger than the available disk space on the XP. In short, what do I do to get the movie files that reside on the TC to show up in iTunes on the XP desktop without taking up a bunch of the XP’s disk space? Any help will be much appreciated.

Winston – Thanks for your advice. Thanks to you, I seem to be pretty close to having this thing under control. After I designated the movies folder on the TC as my Music folder in iTunes, I double clicked on a couple of the files and each immediately showed up in my iTunes movies folder. They also streamed to my Apple TV without incident. So far so good.
My original movies folder on the TC is named M4V Movies. Somehow, iTunes created a subfolder in my M4V Movies folder, named it Movies, and moved the two movie files I had double clicked on there. From this I inferred that any movie I moved into the M4V Movies\Movies folder would show up in iTunes. Unfortunately, it didn’t work that way, as I moved another movie file from M4V Movies to the Movies subfolder and the file I had moved there didn’t appear in iTunes.
Finally, I simply dragged the remaining movie files’ icons into iTunes and, Voila!, they showed up both there and in my Shared Movies folder on Apple TV. Thus, it looks like the worst is over. The only remaining problem is that three of my movie files in iTunes are in the Movies subfolder but all of the others remain in the M4V Movies folder, although all are in the iTunes apps Movies folder. But that’s a problem for another day. By the way, dragging the movie files into the iTunes Movies folder did not cause them to be copied to the C: drive, the only full version of each is still on the TC.
Thanks for your help, I couldn’t have done it without you.
