Movie Formats

I have 5 different movie formats that I want to use to make a DVD.
.WMV
.ASF
.MPG
.MPEG
.MOV
Only the .wmv and .asf are able to do added to the drop zones in iDVD. What do I need to do to convert the .MPG,.MPEG, and .MOV to be able to be dropped into iDVD so I can make a movie?
Thanks,
Jason

First of all, you should not be dropping your movie per se into the drop zone ... drop zones are for menu movies
Your main movie should be dropped into the iDVD pane beyond the parameters of the drop zone (I think there is a Preference that shows you the drop zone as a spotted line as you move the movie across it)
Secondly, iDVD is designed to work best with Quicktime (.mov) files

  • ITunes 11 has converted some songs to Quicktime movie format. How can I convert them back to MPEGs? format

iTunes 11 has converted some songs to Quicktime movie format. How can I convert them back to MPEGs?

I didn't mess with the iTunes Media folder previously, so I don't think that was the cause. Anyway, I manually fixed most of the songs, but I still can't figure out how to fix the movies that became listed as songs.
Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I click on "Get Info" for one of the movies (which has ended up in the music section on iTunes):
There is no option to change the media kind to "movie" or "video" even though it is a movie and it still plays as a movie if I press play.

  • Converting dvd vidoes into a .mov format

If I convert my DVD videos into .mov format files for the web, will the Quicktime player or plug in be the only available player to open these files. Basically what I am asking is does everyone have to have the Quicktime player or plugin available to open these files?

.mov is a container file form, not a compression type. You can use any one of dozens of compressors for a .mov file. Widely used are mpeg-4 and Sorenson 3. Those will both play in QT 6. H264 is also being used a lot but it requires QT 7 to be installed.
By the way, the QT mpeg2playbackcomponent will not export mpeg-2 format. It is playback only. Also, note that QT will not export sound from muxed files like mpeg-1 or mpeg-2. This freeware will export to various formats with the sound included. Note that there are both Windows XP and Mac versions of this freeware. Mpeg StreamClip

  • How to save a video made with adobe VOICE (for ipad) in MOVIE format

I have made a video with adobe VOICE application for ipad. Does anybody know if there's a way to save the video in .MOV format. I see that it only allows me to upload the video and share it via email, FB, Twitter or message.

    Hi felipe1,
You've landed in the Acrobat.com forum, and I was going to move your post to an more appropriate forum to get you question answered, but it doesn't look like we have one for Voice yet! I did find this page: Adobe Voice - Support
And, it doesn't look like there's an option to save as .mov format.
    Best,

  • When I tap a photo in my iPhone photo gallery, the photo appears but there is always a "this movie format not supported" alert and then the alert goes away and the photo appears. These are photos I've taken with the iPhone and aren't even movies.

It's very odd. I take photos with my iPhone and then later go to view the photos in the Photo Gallery on my iPhone. The photos to appear, but I keep getting "this movie format not supported" alerts, even though I am looking at photos taken by my iPhone. The alert appears briefly just after the photo appears and then the alert goes away and I can see the photo. They are just still photos and not movies. Why wouldn't the iPhone recognize the format of photos it is taking?

That thread helped for a time.  But now it seems as though my computer is back to slow again.  But, some of the jargon is over my head as well.  Not sure I knew quoite everything they were talking about.  But thanks a lot for that, it helped I probably just need to reread it and follow the instructions again.  Thanks so much.

  • Convert iphoto slide show to mov format?

hello, I just want to ask that, can I convert iphoto slide show into mov format??? I tried to select all pics, and export them as a mov, but the problem is, in the iphoto slide show, the pics can be moved and fit the screen size, but when I i export it, the pics just set in the middle , no any effect.

    1. Select the photos you want to use, and click on the +. In the window that appears, select slideshow, and give your project a title.
    2. Choose your transitions and music.
    3. Go to File>Export; this will create a QuickTime movie- a .mov file.
    4. For information on playback, read this section from QuickTime Player Help.
    _Viewing Movies at Full Screen_
You can set the screen so that only the movie is visible, not the QuickTime Player window, desktop, or other windows. This presentation setting is called "full-screen mode." (You can also set a movie to play at half size, double size, or other sizes.)
To play a movie at full screen, do one of the following:
    Choose View > Full Screen.
Choose View > Present Movie, choose Full Screen, and click Play.
To quit full-screen mode, press Esc. To adjust the way the picture is sized to fit your screen, such as stretched to fit or in letterbox format, move the pointer to the top of the screen to display the QuickTime Player menu options, and then choose a setting from the View menu. The following additional options are available in full-screen mode:
Fit to Screen: The content is scaled to fill your screen as fully as possible without cropping the movie or changing the aspect ratio.
Zoom: The content is scaled and cropped to completely fill your screen in at least one dimension. This can eliminate black areas on the top (letterboxing) or side (pillarboxing) but may hide or distort the content.
Panoramic: The content is scaled to fit your screen and the outer horizontal edges compressed to avoid cropping the image.
You can also cycle through all of the available full-screen options by clicking the button in the movie controls that appear when you move the pointer.
You can also set options for all movies playing at full screen. For example, you can hide the movie controls or change the amount of time they're displayed before being hidden. To set these options, see QuickTime Player preferences.
Note: As long as "Display full-screen controls" is selected in QuickTime Player Preferences, you can make hidden controls appear by moving the pointer.
    I hope this helps.

  • Mini DVR Records in .AVI and .MOV Format-white screen

I am a private investigator, and have used a mac for years. I purchased my new MacBook 2 weeks ago for the purpose of uploading the video to my mac, and burning the video to DVD for my clients.
I just purchased a JS208 Mini DVR and Mini Spy Button Cam. I.E. its a generic chinese product, but I was told that since it records in .AVI and .MOV format, I could either plug in the SV card (with the video from the mini DVR) or plug the USB cord into the computer and upload the video.
When I plug in the DVR, iPhoto recognizes that a .MOV is available. It downloads.
However, once downloaded, and opened on Quicktime, no sound and white screen.
When I click on Command I, This is what i see:
    Source: /Users/sammythepug/Desktop/MPEG0002.MOV
    Format: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Stereo, 12.000 kHz
    FPS: 30
    Playing FPS: (Available while playing)
    Data size: 2.28MB
    Data Rate: 2336.00 kbits/s
    Current Time: 0:00:00:00.00
    Duration: 0:00:00:08.20
    Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels
    Current Size: 640 x 480 pixels (Actual)
I spent an hour on the phone with Mac Support, and they told me to download MPEG StreamClip. I really don't know what I am doing at this point, because everyone told me it would be easy...HELP!!

    Here are the DVR Specs:
    Digital Screen: 1.5" TFT LCD
    Recording Formats: AVI, ASF, MOV
    Recording Resolution: 640x480, 480x240, 160x120 pixels
    Frame Rate: 30 FPS
    Built in Flash: 45MB
SUB Jack: High Speed USB 2.0
    Mini Cam Specs:
    Picup device: 1/3" color CMOS
    System: PAL/NTSC/ EIA
    Horizontal Definition: 420 TV Lines
    Minimum Illumination: 3 Lux
    Dimensions: 27x27x8mm
    Power Supply DC 5V
I am also open to recommendations for other cameras that may work. The DVR has to be smaller than a pack of cigarettes, and has to be compatible with the mini button camera.
    thanks

  • HT3775 What movie format does iMac support?

How can I watch a movie format in Real Media on my iMac? I tried Windows Media and that did not work on my iMac either.
I downloaded a software to convert the Windows Media, but there was no audio.

    Ciao.
It's an odd format, never was supported well and is clearly vanishing now. There used to be a converter but I haven't seen it since Moses embarked on his trek.

  • Jagged images after export to .mov format

    Hi everyone reading,
In a project I'm working on in FlashCS3 Pro, I have a problem
with export > Quicktime film > ect.
When the encoding to the .mov format is finished and I play
my new created movie in QuickTime
a lot of images are jagged, not complete or the previous
    frame remains in the vieuw.
How can I get a real clean and proper encoding from a .fla to
    QuickTime H.264 or QT Animation?

    Welcome to the discussions, evorot69.
If your original file is an MPEG file, you'll need to use MPEG Streamclip in order to convert it to an iPhone format WITH the audio.

  • In iMovie 10.1 for Mavericks, how do I output in .mov format?

In iMovie 10.1 for Mavericks, how do I export a movie in .mov format?

Thanks Pieter.  It looks like streamclip might work albeit a bit messier.  It is very disappointing that the latest iMovie does not seem to be able to directly output to the .mov file format.
It looks like going back to the previous version of iMovie might be the best choice.
Regarding your curiosity,  I am submitting a slide show for a theatre presentation.  The rules state:
Slideshows must be submitted as single video files in .MOV format. Any slideshows submitted in a different format will be rejected.

Try outputting it as a MP4 or M4V
If Final Cut won't output it, Mpegstreamclip will convert it. So will Quicktime if you have the pro version.

You can't play movies in iPhoto.  But, you can in quicktime, which is installed along with the OS.  Just double click on the .mov file and quicktme should start.

  • Converting movies to mov. format

Is there anyone who can tell me how to convert movies to mov. format. I have tried other solutions but non seem to work except for when I download an mov. file/movie. Does anyone now of any programs that do that. Thanks

yes, go under export and you'll see the supporting
    formats.
QT does not create DVDs, though.
QT Pro allows you to re-encode video but not to
switch containers (to change formats). You can use
    MPEG
    Streamclip for switching containers.
    iMac G5 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
      1,536 MB RAM
Not true, you can re-encode in QTP to multiple other formats and use also different containers

  • Run diffierent movie formats in Flash Player. Help Please

    Hi,
I want to run different movie formats upload by user in
Flash Player. Something like U Tube functionality
1 - Is there any player that run different movie formats like
MP3, AVI etc directly into Flash Player. No need to convert?
Another way is to convert different formats into FLV and
    than run into flash player.
Is there any good FLV converter out there which converts on
    the web during user upload.
Or user upload movie that is than converted to FLV but part
of web application not desktop application.
Any code or any tutorial to covert into FLV?
Platform is windows server 2003 and application is ASP.NET
    2.0
    Thanks

Spotlight search "Flash Player.plugin" and search the entire Mac HD.
Trash EVERYTHING that appears (there should be between 8 and 12 items depending on what you have installed)
    Empty the trash
    Reset Safari per Apple instructions
Then follow the instructions here:  How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X
