Movie imported with wrong time

Hi, could someone please take a look at the linked photo and tell me what I did wrong (or haven't done) to have an 11 second .mov show up as only 6 seconds, 20 frames?
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p220/josephnathan/1.jpg
There was an earlier question similar, but the replies had to do with audio sample rate, and there's no audio in the clip. Could it be a problem with the way I exported the .mov from the software I created it in? It was exported in the Animation codec (since DV/NTSC doesn't look as good).
Thanks,
Jonathan

OK, I am truly baffled. I tried exporting from QT and it was better (only left off four frames that time!) and it was OK since I had enough pad at the end. But I had to make a change and when I imported the new one into Motion it happened again (6;20). Tried bringing it into and exporting from QT, but it didn't work that time. I'm beginning to wonder if it's operator error Is there any chance it's the codec? I'm using Animation, Millions of Colors (since I don't have an alpha channel) with highest quality, keyframes set to automataic, 29.97 fps (which is the same as my Motion project). Like I said, I don't want to use DV/NTSC since the quality is poorer.
So frustrated,
Jonathan

I want to get a new iPhone to replace this defective phone. I am gonna be crazzzzzzzyyyyyyyy with anger,!!!,!,,,!  I takes2 hours to go to Regent street apple stores for three times!!!!!. It is a lot of transport fees !
PLz tell me why! How to deal with it !

Unless it's confirmed officially that your phone is defective, then you can ask for a replacement. Or you have to live with you. However you can trade it for a new one if you don't care the price drop.

use a supported web browser to go to iCloud.com. Click your name (top right) and set you Time Zone to the correct one.

  • IPhoto imports QT with wrong time from Panasonic FX7

IPhoto does not correctly import the time for audio comments recorded with my Panasonic FX7 camera. Does anyone know of a fix (including an Automator program)?
These comments are saved as QT movies (with a still picture naturally, not moving) and are seen in iPhoto as being made seven hours earlier than they actually were. I do not have this problem with either still pictures or "real" QT movies made with the camera (i.e., movies that are recorded in movie mode with motion).
I checked the creation date of the QT files and they are correct in Finder, but I am told by AppleCare that the date iPhoto uses comes from the embedded data within the file. I suspect the problem is that iPhoto thinks that the date/time field (which I cannot see) is UTC (the new name for GMT or Greenwich Mean Time) time, whereas it is probably local time -- which is seven hours behind UTC time right now. Assuming that's the case, iPhoto would subtract seven hours from the correct local time -- which is what I am seeing in iPhoto.
Unfortunately Panasonic is not one of the supported cameras for iPhoto. Hopefully Apple will add support for Panasonic cameras since they are likely to be a bigger player in the digicam market. I was dubious about a Consumer Electronics company making high quality cameras, but when I researched this purchase last Spring, to my surprise, Panasonic was rated better than Olympus (my previoius two digicams) and all other brands in the category for which I was shopping.

When you say your Library, do you mean in the iPhoto Window?
    1. Try the options at View -> Sort Photos
    2. iPhoto should be reading the photos by the Date they were Taken not the date they were imported. If you wan to see them by the date they were imported, use the Roll view.

  • Movie clips have wrong time when importing

I use to rename my images before importing to iPhoto. I copy them from my camera to a folder in the desktop, rename everything to my like using Adobe Bridge, and then I import them to iPhoto. That way the name of a file usually corresponds to the one in the internal Library (control-freak as I am). That said, I never mess with the Library.
But I'm having this problem all the time: After importing, all the image pictures are listed on the event accordingly to their correct date/time, but the movie clips are not. They always have an irregular variation in time, sometimes with a difference of several hours, that I have to change manually using iPhoto "adjust date/time" to have them sorted ok chronologically. The strange thing is: that EXIF data is correct in Bridge! I even use this to view/reference the correct time in Bridge, and change it on the movie file already imported in iPhoto.
Could this be a bug in iPhoto, or is there something wrong with my way of importing? Again, it happens only to the movie files, not the images.
    Thanks.

Thank you. I didn't know that.
But still, for me it's a common issue to have iPhoto reading a wrong "File Created" data on my imported movies, even though it seems to be OK on the original file. Does it ever happen to you, know about that issue? Sometimes I have ten or more movie clips in an event and it's a bit of a hassle to restore manually the correct time for each one.
Maybe it's Bridge fault, maybe it's iPhoto, maybe my workaround is the only answer to this "bug"?
    Thanks again.

  • HT3775 How can I see MOV files with Quit Time Player on my Macbook?

I have video cams in my store and htey record in a MOV format and I´m trying to look the recorded videos and I can´t, it says that is not suported. Somebody knows what can I do?

You can try using MPEG Streamclip (free download) to see if that can handle the format. Check their website for their requirement of the MPEG2 Playback Component which you may or may not have already (please update your profile - you are not running iOS on an MBP). Are they recorded at 30 or 60 frames per second? I believe only Final Cut can deal with 60 fps.

  • Writing position of stage to file as it moves along with relative time.

I'm wondering how to get the position of a stage I am controlling through labview to continuously write its position.  I have an indicator set up with its position and the indicator shows the values as it moves along its axis, however when I try to save these values, only the initial value when I start the motion of the stage is displayed.

It would help if you posted your VI so we can see what you tried.
Most likely you need to create an array of the values and then write the array to the file.

  • ICal archive saves file with wrong time in filename in Lion

iCal archive filenames in Lion now have the time in the filename, after the date.  But the time is 8 hours ahead of the actual time it was saved.  I guess they're using Greenwich Mean Time, but the time that's in the filename should match the time that the file was actually saved (local time).
Is anyone else seeing the same issue?

A hand full of my events were showing as off by 1 hour, even though my Treo 755p, Mac Pro and iCal all show the same time zone. If I had an appointment at 12:00pm it would show up on my Treo 775p as '1:00pm (12:00pm PST)'.
I went through and edited the time zone to something else then back again. I duplicated a few events and then deleted the original. But I've gotten all of them to now show up at the correct time.
Give it a shot it may help if it isn't 100s of appointments.

  • Clips import with wrong duration

In Premiere Pro CS4 Win version, media browser shows Panasonic P2 clip duration as 00:35:34:10 (which is correct). After "Open in Source Monitor" or "Import" [to sequence] duration displays as 00:01:09:10 and only first 1:09:10 plays. Any thoughts? Thanks dbrown

I found out it also applies to regular 24p as well as 24pa footage. And yeah it isn't as much he extra clips that get me "the wasted hours caused by undocumented errors".
I really wish someone from Adobe would confirm this. All I really know is what a beta tester said,
"I actually first brought it up about six weeks ago when I posted the new features article and mentioned the independent Sequence settings. That was a full month and change before CS4 was released.
    http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/article.php/15
I can't release the white paper because it's a consulting work for hire for Panasonic. As I said, I hope it will be posted on their site sometime next week.
By the way, it's not just 24pA; it's also 24p standard. When the fix comes, it will again be able to automatically remove both 24pA and 24p standard pulldown, as it has been able to do since PP 2.0."

  • IPhoto imports photos with wrong dates even if the dates are fine on the camera

    Hi!
When I import photos with iPhoto, sometimes it imports them with wrong dates, even the dates are fine on the camera. It puts dates such as 2032. Does anyone know how can I fix that. As far as I know there is no way to change dates of the photos.

well that is very confusing since if the date is correct on the camera it will be correct in iPhoto

Try looking through your iPhto menus - two commands - adjust time and date and batch change time and date - asjust is used to correct incorrect dates like a comera setting -   Batch change for missing dates like with scans

Oh, baby! This bad boy flies!! Here's what to expect:
I had 40,000 images in Aperture 3 and it was dog slow at everything. I installed 3.1 update today. It took 5 minutes to update the database and then behaved marginally better than before at ASIC library navigation. I was disappointed.
Then I QUIT the app. It took a couple of hours to "update files for sharing" with a counter that went to 110,000 images. So it must have updated every thumbnail and variation of preview. Turned it back on , and BAM. Came up fully in seconds. Paused for 10 seconds ten everything was lickrty split. For the first time ever, I can use the Projects view with all 791 projects and scroll quickly. I even put it in photos modevand whipped thru all 49,000 images!
Haven't done anybprocessing yet, but i'm liking it!!

  • Big trouble with using Find/Move/Rename Actions multiple times

    Hi~
I have a folder with a lot of JPGs in it.
For simplification, let's say this folder contains exactly 1000 JPGs. The JPGs have been renamed numerically 1 through 1000 while still preserving the original order the JPGs came in straight out of Camera.
I want to separate the JPGs by putting them into different folders (i.e. "untitled folder 1", "untitled folder 2", "untitled folder 3", etc.). I want to put 20 JPGs in each folder. The first folder will contain original JPGs 1-20, the second folder will contain original JPGs 21-40, the third will have original JPGs 41-60, ...and the last folder (untitled folder 50) will have original JPGs 981-1000.
I also want to rename all of the JPGs in each folder numerically, 1 through 20. For example, untitled folder 3 will contain original JPGs 41-60, but I want to rename them to 1 through 20. This is very important - the original order must be preserved. As an example, let's look at untitled folder 3 with JPGs 41-60. "41.JPG" must be renamed as "1.JPG", "42.JPG" must be renamed as "2.JPG" ... "60.JPG" must be renamed as "20.JPG".
I want this to continue until I have 50 separate folders, with each containing 20 JPGs, all of which are sequentially numbered 1 through 20 while still preserving the original order.
I gave this a try on Automator with no solid results. The sequence of actions I put together were as follows:
    1. Get Specified Finder Items (JPGs 1-20 from the folder containing the 1000 original JPGs)
    2. Move Finder Items (to the new folder: untitled folder 1)
    3. Get Specified Finder Items (original JPGs 1-20 that are now in untitled folder 1)
    4. Rename Finder Items (The settings for rename are as follows: Make Sequential, Add number to = "new name", "item name" is deleted and then I press return, Place number = "before name", Start numbers at = "1", separated by = "nothing", and the rename Example looks like "1.xxx"
These setups are repeated again for JPGs 21-40, and again for 41-60. Importantly, I modify each action to make sure it gets the correct JPGs from the correct folder.
I wrote the action to last for the first 60 JPGs (I wanted to test it before writing the rest of it, which would take a long time!)
The results I got are as follows:
-Original JPGs 1 through 60 have been removed from the originals folder containing the 1000 Original JPGs. (so far so good)
-Original JPGs 1-20 from the originals folder have been moved to "untitled folder 1" and renamed 21-40 (not good... I wanted them to stay the same: 1-20)
-Original JPGs 21-40 were moved to "untitled folder 2" and were correctly renamed 1-20. Then, these were unexpectedly moved a second time to "untitled folder 3" (not good).
-Original JPGs 41-60 were moved to "untitled folder 3" and were renamed as 21-40.
    Summary:
The final result was that Untitled folder 1 contained original JPGS 1-20, incorrectly renamed to 21-40. Untitled folder 2 is empty. Untitled folder 3 contains original JPGs 21-60. Original JPGs 21-40 were correctly renamed 1-20, whereas JPGs 41-60 were incorrectly renamed 21-40.
I feel like I have reached the limit of my knowledge with Automator, so I need your help!
Thank you very much for at least reading this!
    ~Michael

First, be careful of the forum you post in - there are Automator forums for both Tiger and Leopard. Your profile shows you running Leopard, but this reply would apply to Tiger as well.
Most actions return the results from whatever it is that they do - in the case of Move Finder Items, the action returns the items that it moved. In your example workflow, when you follow the move action with the Get Specified Finder Items, you double up the list of items to rename, so there is some extra renaming going on. Most actions have an option to ignore the input from the previous action, but getting rid of the Get Specified Finder Items action from your workflow should clear things up.
Automator will work for your workflow if there aren't too many items, but if you really have thousands of files you might have better luck with an AppleScript.
