Movie in slideshow

Hi. I have recently imported pictures and some small clips I made during my vacation. What I would like to do is just to go through all my pict and movie clips in full screen (either in full screen mode or using front row). However, all the movie clips are skipped, I just see the pictures. Is there any way to see anything I imported in iphoto
Thanks for answering

Unfortunately iPhoto does not play stills and movie clips in a slideshow. iPhoto uses Quicktime Player to play the movie files and that's outside of iPhoto.
There is a 3rd party slideshow application, PhotoPresenter, that will play stills and movie clips together. It has over 20 themes. These are but two: Reflection - Apple TV Intro.
You can run it in the demo mode to see if it will suit your needs before purchasing.
You can create a slideshow in iDVD with both still photos and movie clips.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I downloaded photos from digital camera and now I want to delete some but when I hit the photos icon it only brings up pics with the only options being move or slideshow no trashcan or delete options available

You should be able to delete photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing

  • Playing movies in slideshows?

    Hi, all--
I tried finding the answer to this, but couldn't discover one.
I'm putting together a slideshow, and I'd like to insert a few movies along with the photos. Movies don't seem to play in slideshows, though. Is there a preference somewhere I need to click? Or do I just have to do this in iMovie instead?
Thanks in advance for the help!

iPhoto won't play movies in Slideshow.
Have a look at PhotoPresenter. It will and it integrates with iPhoto too. I reckon it's faster than iMovie.

What is the Output option that you are selecting for the transfer of the Elements Organizer 12/12.1 slideshow to Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Editor?
If you are using Edit with Premiere Elements output option, are you using the Premiere Elements command to break apart the Elements Organizer slideshow and then applying rotation to the portrait files? Or, it is this more than just a photo rotation matter?
More on this in the morning.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Need tips on creating a movie and slideshow to show with a projector

I'm putting together videos and a photo slideshow for a reunion. I'll be using photos of various sizes and quality. The projector will be rented, so I can't practice with it, but I got the info on it: 3 LCD, 1100 lumens, 1024x768 native resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio, throw distance 5' to 50'. The audience will be about 100 people.
I have created several movies with slideshows which have been burned to DVD for viewing on a TV, but I've never done any for projection on a screen using my laptop. It is my understanding that reducing photos to a video resolution reduces the quality because no matter what the resolution of the digital photo, the video output is going to be 720x480. Since the quality of the old 126 and 110 film photos are not very good to start with, I was wondering if they would look better if I could show them using Adobe Photoshop Elements' slideshow feature on my laptop and then switch to showing a Premiere file for the movie?
I've learned from my movie slideshow mistakes when the TV chopped off heads (outside the safe margin). I'm sure there are some pitfalls when using a projector, but I don't know what they are. Could those with projector experience give me some pointers? Thanks so much.

If this projector is going to run from a laptop, you do not have to go with DVD, which, as you point out, will be 720 x 480. However, much will depend now, on what your Video source material is. You will want to create the New Project to match that. Then, with your stills, you can Scale those to that Project Preset, before Import.
When done editing, you can Export/Share to an AV format, that the Projector can use. You would basically launch the AV file in say WMP, and feed that from the Video Out to the projector. A format, like WMV should work well. The smoothness of the playback will depend on the I/O of the laptop. With the WMV, you can choose a Frame size that matches the Projector.
Let's say that you have 720p material, then that would be the Project Preset, and the stills would be scaled to approximately that Frame Size. Doing that Scaling in PSE will be much better than letting PrE do it for you. I would have those images scanned at a high resolution, and then look at some of the Scaling algorithms in PSE. I do not know the possible options for Interpolation in PSE, but in PS, I normally go with Bicubic Smoother, however you might find that Bicubic Sharper is better. Only your eyes can tell. Also, if you need to Scale UP from your scans, you can use Stair-stepping to do this, basically doing several Scale operations (Resample checked) at 10% + 10%, etc., until you have Scaled to the necessary size.
    Good luck,

  • Database storage for video, movies and slideshows?

    hi all,
i am trying to see if there is software or a database that would let me organize my videos/slideshows/movies.
since i have ported to mac from PC i am seeing the following file types in my "video + slideshow" folder: wmv, pdf, 3gp, avi. mov, mp4 and m4v. my recollection is that these were either downloaded form the internet, created on some PC software or created using Keynote, Aperture or iPhoto.
i am also going to post on the adobe forum as i have purchase the Creative Suites package and if there is an adobe product that does this exceptionally well i would be happy to buy it.
THANKS in advance for any help or advice on this.

It's the same as adding an iframe, at least in the Mac version. If you want to add other media types, you can, but you'd need to manually enter the code or at least manually set the embed/object parameters. For more info, try googling things like "object embed WMV video" or similar. For instance:

  • Small camera movie in slideshow

How do I successfully include a short movie in a slideshow? The manual says I can do it, but have had no luck.
I have tried (from iPhoto) sending an Album and/or a Slideshow with 2 small movies embedded. Yet, in iDVD there is no sign of the movies in the exported album/slideshow. So then I think maybe that I can import the movies via iDVD>iPhoto. However, they they are nowhere to be found, even though they are in iPhoto.
I have tried and tried, and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

First, in iPhoto, export your slideshow as a QuickTime movie. Go to File>Export. Then open iDVD, and drag the icon for this movie into the window. Use this link to check out Old Toad’s diagram for how to add movies to an iDVD slideshow:

    I hope this helps.

  • Creating a iMovie with movies and slideshows

I am going to be creating a farewell DVD for some friends.  I would like to have both slideshows from various events along with movies from these same events play on the DVD.
If I'm thinking correctly, I basically want to create slideshows from the various events and then insert those into the iMovie around the movies of the same event.
Can someone tell me if I'm heading the right direction?  I have two weeks to do this, but I'd like to make sure I'm heading down the right road, or if there's a better way to do it, I would like to know.
Also, what is the best way to insert audio (music) into the slide show part?  Is this done in iMovie or iPhoto?
    Thanks!

    Add the music in iMovie.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto (see this:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2423 ), iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • New Quicklook Won't Play .Mov In Slideshow Mode

Prior to upgrading to Lion, I always appreciated the functionality of Snow Leopard's Quick Look to be able to highlight multiple files (.jpeg's, .pdf's, and even videos) and integrate them into a seamless slideshow in only a couple of clicks. After upgrading, however, I realized that, while much of the same functionality is present, one flaw is that .mov (and I assume other video formats) will not play automatically in slideshow mode. Has anyone else found this problem and/or a solution?
    Thanks

    hey thanks for the response.
I did run something called "socks". it's a program for cleaning up the operating system overall. I think it might have deleted something by mistake. all my movies run in quicktime fine. I've installed "perian" and since then all my video files play in quicktime great.
I'd suggest installing perian and see if your videos play again. I find it odd that videos play in quicktime, but not quicklook. hope things work out for you.

  • Can't get movies in slideshow to export smoothly to iMovie or iDVD

    Hello there,
I'm working in PAL format, with my slide size at 1280x720. I have a slide with a movie playing at full size in the background with type transitions over the top. The transitions are fine, but the movie is choppy. Reducing it in size on the slide helps, but it's not what I want.
The background movie was created in Photo to Movie, Apple Intermediate codec, 25 fps, High quality export. I've been trying other settings, but the end result is always the same.
Has anyone tried this, or found a way around it?
    Thanks.

Look at the [post here by lori_diloreto|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3836266] and click to see her music settings diagrams. You probably just need to drag the little dot down.

  • Does ipad support my home movies or slideshows

I made a sideshow with iPhoto. I exported it now it is mov format. I tried to sync my MacBook with the sideshow and a couple of other home movies I made. It looked like it synced but I can't find where they are. Plus my slides how didn't even show up to sync.
I love my iPad, but the lack of video and other limitations is getting to me.
    Thanks for the help.

Have you checked in the Video app? Usually I think you need mp4 files rather than mov though.

  • Autoplay iPhoto movies when playing album as slideshow

I have one album in iPhoto that I share with my Apple TV. It contains photos and videos.
As it is now, when the movies show up in the slideshow it appears as a black screen with a question mark in the middle and I have to press the select button for it to play.
Is there any way for movies to automatically play when they show up?
    Thanks

Still looking for clarification if an ATV3 will play movies in Slideshow.
Has anyone been able to get this to work, or someone in Apple Support I could ask?

  • How to keep entire photo library on ext drive and only slideshows on laptop

I recently did an erase/install upgrade to Tiger on my g4 powerbook laptop. My previous iPhoto 4 library is safely backed up on an external drive. I would like to keep the entire library on that drive and import new photos only to that drive and edit on that drive. I would like to have a second iPhoto library on my laptop that only contains slideshows that I have created on the external drive. I received mixed opinions at the genius bar: One guy told me that I would end up with a big mess and another guy told me it would be straightforward and easy.
So this is what I think I need to do:
    1. Open iPhoto '08 on my powerbook (it wants to upgrade the library even though there is nothing currently in it. Is it OK to let it upgrade?)
    2. Open it again while holding alt/option and ask it to create a new iPhoto library on the external drive (should I name it something unique?).
    3. Drag my backed-up iPhoto library folder (its contents) into the new iPhoto library on the external drive (I imagine it will want to update them as well).
    4. When I want to move a slideshow over to my laptop, export a copy of the slideshow to a laptop desktop folder (so it sends copies only) and then move them into my laptop iPhoto library (I have no idea whether the slideshow order and settings would be preserved).
I hope my thinking is right and would appreciate any comments or suggestions?
I am concerned that when I connect my camera to my laptop, it will want to open the laptop iPhoto library and import there instead of to the external drive library. How do I get the pics from my camera to the external drive library?
    Again, thanks!

    rbfactor:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Regarding Step 3: do not import the old library into the new one. You'll get the modified files as regular files and lose your keywords, tiles, albums, slideshows, etc.
What I would do is put your full library on the external HD. Then create a new library on your PB. In the primary library create an album with the pictures you want for the sideshow. Then use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager tocopy that album from the external HD library to your PB library. Unfortunately you cannot copy over the slideshow settings or the music used. You'll have to have your iTunes library on the PB and set the slideshow settings once your have the photos on the PB.
The alternative is to export the slideshow as a QT file and copy that to the PB and run with QT player.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
