Movie just stops playing, shortly after starting it.

We started watching a Netflix movie, got 15-30 seconds into it and it just stops.  It goes back to the menu screen every time - no error message though.  It did it over and over, so we tried a different movie.  It did the same thing, but it waited until we were about 2-3 minutes into the movie.  What's going on?

I'm not sure I know what you mean when you say you did a network test and it stayed connected.
On the matter of signal strength, it is possible to have good signal strength but still experience interference.
If you play a movie from your iTunes library, start it and pause for 20 minutes or so, how much of the movie has downloaded, if you then start it playing do you experience the same problem.

Make sure your headphones are plugged ALL the way in, meaning the white part of the headphones is flush with the Nano and you cannot see any silver from the plug still showing.

  • ITunes stops burning shortly after starting...no errorm. !

    Hi,
I have a Plextor PX-712A DVD burner with newest firm ware (1.07) and iTunes 5.01.
iTunes recognizes this burner. When I push the button, iTunes starts burning, writes several MB to the CD and just stops at the very beginning of the first track. It sticks until I quit the process. Of course I can throw the CD to the garbage can.
Some older version of iTunes had the same problem. I hoped that 5.01 would solve the problem...it didn`t ! HELP !
I use Windows XP Prof. and Nero has no problems with my burner.
    Thx !

  • IChat stops unexpectedly shortly after starting a Video session

    Hello all,
I am trying to set up a new iSight and begin using iChat for the first time. iChat 3.0 did not let me do much of anything but connect to AIM. I updated the system to 10.4.4 and iChat now lets me update mt buddy list and open a video session with a friend.
The problem is the iChat consistently shuts down unexpectedly shortly into the session.
    Some information:
I have an ethernet lan with four computers. I am using an Acsense Palm HUM-5E, and a Linksys BEF SR11 cable router. I thought there was a built-in firewall in the router, but I am not a techie so I am not sure.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Kent

    Hi Kent,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages.
Yes port need to be open the in the Linksys
    This page should help.
I can not see that this device had UPnP.
It appears that they have used different pics from different Firmware versions as well which is not helpful.
The UPnP Forwarding shown is not what you need !!
If there is a tab that says Administration then see if that has UPnP in it. Otherwise use the intruction shown.
Please not they have marked each port as open for UDP and TCP and this is not required in all cases.
Jabber ports 5220 and 5222 and the undocumented 5223 need TCP only
The AIM login port needs both TCP and UDP
All the others 5060, 5678, 16384-16403 need UDP only.
The page linked does not deal with Bonjour which needs
5297, 5298 and 5353 on UDP and 5298 need TCP as well.

  • Nano stops playing podcasts after apx 30 mins.

Each track I have is apx. 1 hour long. My nano will just stop playing them after about 30-33 minutes and return to the default main menu. On rare occasions it will go passed that point but if I touch any control, such as the volume, it stops playing.
Each track plays the full 1 hour+ on problem on iTunes.
    Any information is good information.

I have a nano 2g, 8gig and it stops playing podcasts when there are still 45 seconds left. It doesn't do this all the time but it happens frequently.

Did the battery run out of power?  If not, try doing a Reset to "reboot" the iPod

(A Reset does NOT erase the iPod.)

Shortly after starting Firefox the "music" reminiscent of Pac-Man starts. It is only on Firefox (haven't tried Thunderbird) even following an uninstall and re-install of Firefox. Just started today. Am using XP Home SP3.

    Dear Firefox:
I am not amused with the pac-man music. I spent the entire trying to find a virus on my computer. I might have tolerated this as an April Fool's joke, but this "celebration" was completely unnecessary!
And to others trying to fix the problem ... I just uninstalled Cool Previews and that did the trick. No more bat-shit-crazy pac-man music.

  • For certain songs on my iPhone 4s with iOS7 some songs stop playing audio but continue playing the song almost as if it were muted. Where can I fix this? Say "Stronger" by Kanye West stops playing sound after 2:25 but it is 5 minutes long.

Basically it is just like it says. Certain songs stop playing sound after a certain point in the song but the song continues playing and ticking down like it normally would. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi I found the answer from another post. So far everything is working find. I been trying to fix this since march,

Deleting the application rarely solves anything on Macs. A better starting point is normally to delete the preference file for the application (in Users/~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist) or see if you have the same problem in another user account on the computer.

  • My MIDI device stops playing notes and starts triggering keyboard shortcuts

    Hello everybody.
    I have a problem,
    My M-audio keystation 61e
stops playing notes after a while.
Like it has a about 1 or 2 octaves and
then any higher or lower you go, they start becoming shorcuts.
    ex. Undo, paste, splice...
    can anybody help me?

Open the key commands window, turn off MIDI remote. Check you haven't assigned MIDI notes to key commands. Open the controller assignments window, and again check you haven't got weird assignments.
If in doubt, trash both your Logic preference files and see if it goes away.

  • HT1657 What happens if my rented movie just stops in the middle?  Can I re download it free of charge?

2 of my rented movies just stopped in the middle of the movie.  Is it possible to redown load them free of charge?  If not what other recourse is there for movies that do not down load properly?

If it's not playing properly then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • Backup Freezes shortly after start

I've a recurring problem with Time Machine, whereby the backup appears to freeze shortly after starting. No error message is reported and I can see nothing in the log.
At first it seemed to be caused by my children's log-in still being active but it's not that. It does seem to happen more when my wife has left lots of applications open, including MS Word with lots of documents.
I've checked the external disk (Lacie 500GB), even erased and reformatted it (Mac OS Extended (Journaled), same as by iMac hard disk) but to no avail. Stopping the back-up does nothing. Pulling the cable or turning the disk off whilst kills the current back-up doesn't cure the problem.
The only solution is to restart and run a back-up straight away.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately, a lot of things can cause this.
Let's take a look at the log: there may be a clue. Download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget from: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/timemachinebuddy.html. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. Navigate to one of these stalled backups, copy and post the messages here (be sure to get them all, as sometimes they overflow the small window).

That sort of thing might slow it down a bit, but shouldn't be much.

Also check the *Partition Map Scheme* shown by Disk Utility on the first line of the drive (the one with the make and size). It should be GUID for an Intel Mac, +Apple Partition Map+ for a PPC Mac.
Is your LaCie Firewire or USB? How is it connected?
Does it have it's own power supply, or does it get power from your Mac?
Are you running FileVault, any virtualization software, or any significant non-Apple software?
How much data is on your internal HD?
That info plus the logs should at least get us started.

When I started my iMac today, it started beeping like an alarm horn.  I shut it down, and held the startup button a little longer to get it to start.  Shortly after starting up, a dark 'film' slowly comes down over the screen and I get a message saying I have to shut down the computer.  I've tried to start from the disk, and before I can even run a repair off utilities, it happens again.  What's up?  Am I screwed?  HELP!!

What you are seeing is a kernel panic, often but not always connected with a hardware or peripheral issue, so, unplug everything except mouse and  keyboard, reboot and hold the shift key as soon as your hear the chime, continue holding it until you see the Apple Icon and spinning progress indicator, then post back.
It will take noticeably longer than normal to start.

Will I lose my emails I have on there? I have numerous client email files and can't afford to lose any of them. I do have everything backed up but I'm fearful of losing important client info. What if something happened during the back up and it doesn't have my files?
