Movie length and slideshow length

I've been reading and searching around. I have used iDVD for movies, but have never added a slideshow. I am working on what will arguably be a long movie (family vacation). Yet I also wanted to add a slideshow to show of many of our stills from the vacation. So I have a few questions:
Is there any simple way to determine the combination of pictures and movie that will fit on the DVD? I do understand that it is a combination of choices, but anything simple? (i.e. 80 minutes of movie, 0 photos; 60 minutes of movie, 30 photos, etc...)
For a simple slideshow, should I just use the iDVD slideshow or try to do it in iMovie?

No problems yet, but that's the point. I'm asking now to avoid troubles later.
I've got 5 hours of video from a family vacation from this summer. I'm going to take that down considerably for a DVD to share. No one wants to see all of that.
But, and here's the point, I need to know "down to what?" If I have 1.5 hours of video, does that mean ZERO hours of slideshow? Is it that simple?
Or are slideshows somehow saved on a different part of the DVD?
If its simple (our friend above said there was NO simple way to determine this), then fine. Am I correct its 1.5 hours in iDVD 5?
If its not simple, then how do you figure it out?
I just don't want to take a lot of time creating an iMovie project of a certain length only to discover that there isn't room for the slideshow of stills. Or, at least find out something like---"hey, your movie is 1 hour and 10 minutes, you can now ONLY make a slideshow of 20 minutes---however many pictures you can get in, in that time." That gives me a simple guide.
Hence my original question---is there not some simple way to know? I've done enough iDVD projects to know there is a movie time-limit. I've never added a slideshow.
Now can you give me some insight?

Assume We are loading data from Flat File.
We have date field coming from File. Date can any format. with that drop down box , we can specify either internal format or External format (File has which format for Date field).
Suppose if i'm providing Internal Format, Date Value should be 20070510.
If you choose external format, we have flexibility to enter the length (Take the Case of Fiscal Month).

For column wrapping you can use the SET_WRAPPING of cl_salv_wd_header and the data.....you have got cell editor for that column right...then using the cell edtior reference you can get the specific cell tyep(like cl_salv_wd_text_view type check this)
this is object reference and you can use the set_wrapping of this class. using this you can get the wrapping functionality for the data also....

Logical and Physical Length in Datastore

I would like to know the differences between logical length and physical length in datastore. Can anyone teach best practices to use them properly?

Movie length and quality

Is there any way to drop the quality a bit and still burn around 4 hours of video to a dvd?

First, in the iDVD preferences, for movies over an hour you must select Best Quality. Default is Best Performance but this is only for projects of 60 minutes or less. So check that first.
If you do have Best Quality selected, then the next thing to check is to verify your project really is under two hours in length and you don't have something like a bit of audio way out to the right making your total length appear to be, for example, 3 hours long when in fact your footage ends at 1 hr 30 minutes.

Titles are automatically changing length and shortening - imovie '11 version 9.0.2

Titles are automatically changing length and shortening no matter what I do. I'm using imovie '11 version 9.0.2 I have tried everything and they keep reverting back to random sizes. I have several 4 sec still pictures and I want the titles to match in length so I make them the same size but as soon as I move away or do anything else the revert back to some random size like 2.2s or 1.2s. I don't know why but it is very frustrating.

It's been a month now and I just installed the new update (9.0.4) and it is still doing this. I took a screenshot of what it is doing. I want all of the titles to be the same length as the pictures. They are all 3.9 or so seconds. I drag the titles so they are the same size and then as soon as I do anything else it automatically changes back to this. Any Ideas? I just don't know why it's doing this and it's really bothering me. Please help!

Total time/length of slideshow

Is there a way to see what the total length of a slideshow (with automatic transitions/builds) will be without having to play the slideshow each time? I'm trying to build a lengthy slideshow that will later fit with music, but there doesn't seem to be a way to see the length of the slidshow as I add slides, change transition and build times, etc.
It would be great if there was a running timer that would calculate based on slide and transition lengths as they are added.

Just curious if anyone found out a solution to this. I've discovered that one my podcasts has a similar problem. I can actually drag the scrubber to the end of the podcast and it just keeps on playing. If I pause in the middle, it doesn't always pick up at the same spot. Weird.

hi all,
I moved Transoft USQL Database from one server to another, even though i am able to validate the server with usql client but my crystal reports is giving errors while trying to open up some of the reports.
Unfortunately doesnt happens for all the reports, it happens for only for the reports which prompts for values in preview screen.
This is the error i get
first error screen....Failed to open a rowset....
second error screen
Failed to open a rowset
Details:HY000:[Transoft][TSODBC][MF](log: 3816-175022)offset and/or length of column exceeds maxium record length of 0
Thats it i get a blank crystal report screen.
I would appreciate if experts would help me out..

Don't use localhost as your server name. It's a reserved name and should not be used in code.

Database storage for video, movies and slideshows?

hi all,
i am trying to see if there is software or a database that would let me organize my videos/slideshows/movies.
since i have ported to mac from PC i am seeing the following file types in my "video + slideshow" folder: wmv, pdf, 3gp, avi. mov, mp4 and m4v. my recollection is that these were either downloaded form the internet, created on some PC software or created using Keynote, Aperture or iPhoto.
i am also going to post on the adobe forum as i have purchase the Creative Suites package and if there is an adobe product that does this exceptionally well i would be happy to buy it.

It's the same as adding an iframe, at least in the Mac version. If you want to add other media types, you can, but you'd need to manually enter the code or at least manually set the embed/object parameters. For more info, try googling things like "object embed WMV video" or similar. For instance:

The entire DVD containing Quick Time movies (Final CutExpress project) and slideshow was done in iPhoto. The Final Cut project was rendered prior to export to QT, the slideshow was sent to iDVD withoutrendering. The slideshow with most of the pictures from my still camera incombination with stills from movie clips and some downloaded from the Internet.After burning, the movie playback is perfect but the slideshow is not. The slideshow containing 3 differentkinds of pictures; those from my still camera looks OK; the stills from themovie clips and from the Internet are not. I don’t have much knowledge in this game, but I think NTSCwith frame size 720x480, and the downloaded picture Item Property shows most ofthem are between 400 to 500 x 300 to 600, may be both of them are not suitablefor TV screen while the stills from my still camera looks OK because they are2048x1536. If the Library folder is not shown in your login directory, then open a Finder window, and press command+J. This will open a Finder View Options panel. On it, there is a selectable entry to Show Library Folder. Once this is selected, the Library folder will appear. Now, follow the instructions in my May 6 post. You will have to right-click on com.apple.iWork.Pages and choose Show Package Contents, before continuing.

Sender File Adapter. Fixed Lengths and Field Separator

I have a doubt in Sender File Adapter with Content Conversion.
I have a text file like:
a,b,c,,e
I have the configuration in the adapter:
Register.fieldNames: a,b,c,d,e
Register.fieldSeparator: ,
The question I have is can I format the length of the text when i create the XML?
I woul like to create the XML like:

<Register>
    <a>a   </a>
    <a>b </a>
    <a>c </a>
    <a>   </a>
    <a>e   </a>
</Register>
</Row>
I would like that when I create the file in Field A I have length = 4, but I have only 1 in the entry, and I want to fill the rest of the length with spaces.
I tried with FieldFixedLengths but when I test it the fields are not being formatted and take the commas as part of the field.
I know that this can be done in Receiver File Adapter, you leave for example one field of 5 length and you format it to 12 length with spaces.
Is this possible for Sender File ADapter?

See the example given in this bog, in this blog the string has been splited into different fields as per the field length, so you may use the same concept to get your output.

But the user has to put in the exact length and zero filled.

Hi Uwe,
if I understand your question you need something like an alpha conversion.
You can use a formula, therefore is an textfunction called LPAD(text,len,pad).
You can use it like this:
LPAD(@yourtext, 18, "0")
@yourtext contains the input, the length is 18 and filling values is 0 like a alpha conversion.
