Movie lost in middle of watching

The Internet connection was lost in the middle of a movie we watching and the connection came back up the movie was lost.  How do retrieve the movie without purchasing again?

Settings - iTunes - check for rentals. If it doesn't appear initially, log out and back into your account
However, if you are unable to watch the rental within the allotted timeframe you will need to rent it again or contact iTunes.

  • My ipod 4g external speaker has been working on and off for the past few days since christmas. 2 days ago it was working all morning then in the afternoon in the middle of watching a video it just stopped. it hasnt worked since ): any help?

My ipod touch was given to me from apple refurbished and still with ios 5.0.2 after owering it on for the first time and updating to 6.0.1 it was functioning normally and i was using it just fine. i had just begun to use itunes and i bought some music and after playing about 3 or 4 songs aloud from the external speaker it stopped working. just like that. i looked over the internet about other incidents like that but then after thaty i returned back to my ipod and began playing Tron and the sound worked fine! i exited the app and it played my music just fine too. then the next day it went out again and no sound was being played. i left it alone and after about 2 or 3 hours i came  back to it and it played sound again. the next day it went out in the middle of watching a video i had just taken. it hasnt come back on since. any help/suggestions?? anything plz..

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

  • Apple TV ... Rental movie lost

In the middle of watching a rental movie, it stopped.... And I cannot get the rental movie back .... Any suggestions?

We had the same problem and it started after we updated the Apple TV software, and first time around the Apple guy refunded our money. When it happened the following weekend I then discovered that the assigned the software update had reset the settings to US defaults. I changed our country back to Australia, and suddenly our rental appeared.  As such, I presume that if the country your iTunes account doesn't match the country assigned on Apple TV, there is some movie rights restriction that prevents you from seeing it.
    I hope that helps.

  • I want to store movies on an SD disk, watch them on the way to Europe, then use the chip to record photos in my camera.  I can't get the iPad mini to recognize the videos I've recorded.

I want to store movies on an SD disk, watch them on the way to Europe, then use the chip to record photos in my camera.  I can't get the iPad mini to recognize the videos I've recorded.

I'm a bit lost - you first say
"The only file(s) I can sometimes get it to recognize are the ones shot with a camera onto an SD card"
    then you say
" If I take an unused SD card and record video with my camera, it will see, and import the file to the Photo app."
In the first statement, aren't you using an SD card in the camera?  And what do you mean by "unused SD card"?    Cameras put their files in specific folders on a card, and your device only reads photos and video from those folders, not from anywhere else on the card.

  • Watch a rented movie once, then can't watch it again within the 48 hrs

    This doesn't seem right.
I paid for a rental and downloaded a movie. I could start watching within about a minute, it played without skipping a beat.
My wife started watching the movie the next night and got about half way through.
The next day, she tried watching the rest, and selected the film and clicked on "resume watching".
But instead of streaming and playing like it should, we got the spinning wheel of death followed by a message "The movie will load in a minute" which soon became "the movie will load in 2351 minutes"!
Additional information that I can add is that it was Sunday afternoon which is peak time for internet usage and I'd just exhausted my data allowance before the speed limiting kicks in. Basic internet using browsers at that time was really slow.
So it was as though the movie we were going to resume watching was going to be downloaded from the iTunes Store again. I thought you downloaded a rental to your hard drive and it deleted itself after it expired? So any subsequent streaming to AppleTV would be coming direct from your hard drive. It shouldn't have been affected by the speed of my internet connection at that time, surely. Anyone else experienced this?

  • My "Apple TV" is hooked up via HDMI to my Marantz receiver.  Everything works fine when watching movies.  When trying to watch a show or listen to music, there is no sound.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Perhaps you should ask over in the iPad community, you may get better answers there.
It's actually my fault that psoon ended up here ... s/he intially posted over at Home Sharing, and I tried a relocate request to Apple TV rather than iPad.

I rented a movie via apple TV. Watched half of it last night, and trying to watch the rest of it tonight but itunes cant find it. It helpfully tells me I have already rented this item, but then wont find it. Ideas anyone????

when you rent a movie it gives you 30 days until you start watching it
once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to watch it so idealy your movie expired...

  • My Apple TV deletes downloaded movies/series before I've watched them. How do I stop this?

My Apple TV sometimes deletes downloaded movies/series before I've watched them. How do I stop the episodes /movies being deleted before I watch them?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Downloads are deleted to make room for something else or when the device is turned off, if you don't want your downloads removing, you need to avoid doing one of the things that will cause this.

  • Billed for movie I've not yet watched

Sorry if this has been asked before, tried a search but difficult to choose appropriate keywords. Anyway...
When does iTunes bill you for renting a movie? As soon as you start downloading it or only if you press "play" & begin the 24 hour rental period?
Reason I'm asking is I like to pre-download a movie maybe a day or so before friends come over for movie night (I've had issues with long download times ruining movie night). Not knowing exactly what they'll want to watch, I often pre-download a couple of choices, assuming they'll want to watch at least one. What I assumed is, I'll only be charged for what we actually watch. If I don't start the 24 hour rental period then I don't expect to be charged. This doesn't seem to be the case however. Apparently they charge me regardless if I watch it or not?

Okay thanks for clearing that up for me. Wish they'd made that clearer.
I guess I'll have to stop pre-downloading movies I "may" want to watch. Disappointing as that more or less means I can't use AppleTV for movie night. Well unless I ask my guests what they want to watch before they show up. Oh well. Thanks again.

  • I have been noticing videos on hulu, youtube and even itunes have been downloading slow and pausing in the middle of watching them. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Someone told me its my media player, but I am not sure what to do.

  • HT1551 This thing is horrible. I rented a movie to watch later. Confirmed the movie was downloaded (available to watch) and when I hit "play" it tells me it will be ready to watch in 19-hours! What's up?

The ATV has no storage to speak of, so all content is streaming.
If the user desires to download first and play later, do so via iTunes on the computer.

  • Can I rent a movie in iTunes and then watch it in my car where I don't have an Internet connection?

Just wondering how to download a movie on the iPad and then take it in the car or on a plane and watch it... Is it possible to rent a movie on iTunes and then watch it elsewhere, where I don't have access to Internet?

Absolutely.  You can rent or buy a movie in iTunes and once downloaded to your iPad, watch it without internet access.  You can do this directly on your iPad.  Open iTunes on your iPad.  Browse, then buy or rent what you want.  Once downloaded, your purchase will appear in your Video App, which was preloaded on your iPad.

  • If you rent a movie through iTunes can you watch the movie on your iPad if you are not connected to internet or 3g

If you rent a movie through iTunes, can you watch the movie on your iPad if you not in an area that does not have wifi or 3G access?  Such as on an airplane, etc...

Yes - as long as the movie has totally and fully downloaded onto the iPad.

  • TS3623 Ordered a movie to rent. Was watching it then it stopped and had the timer going. Turned it off, tried to watch the next day and could not get it to play. Even after going into settings and going into iTunes Store and then rentals like it said. No

Ordered a movie to rent. Was watching it then it stopped and had the timer thing going on forever. Stopped watching it and went to bed. Tried to watch it again the next day.It Said for us to go to settings, then iTunes Store, then ck for rentals.  Still, the timer kept working and could not continue to watch our silly movie. This has happened to us many times. VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY annoying. I am beginning to HATE Apple TV. Please advise!

If it's stopping during the movie that could be network related. As for locating the rental, try logging out of your account and signing back in again.

  • HT201272 I rented two movies on my iPad, never watched them. My iPad crashed and now I can't access those movies without paying again.

Rented 2 movies on iPad 2, never watched them, iPad crashes and films no longer available.

Rentals are one-time only download, you will need to try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
