Movie not showing up in iTunes library

I recently downloaded a digital copy of a movie, but it won't show up in my iTunes library.  The file shows up in my itunes folder, but not in my library.  Any ideas how to fix this.

I just had the same thing happen.  I downloaded a digital copy of War Horse and it is in its own folder in the Movie folder inside the iTunes Music Folder.  I can even get it to play in iTunes but it will not show up on my list of movies in the library.  I need a solution.

  • I have songs on my iPhone but they do not show to my iTunes library. How do I get them to show?

I have an iPhone 4 and have songs on it that do not show on my iTunes library. Everything is up to date, but I cannot get these songs to show to make my playlists.  Some of these songs were from CDs I had. How do I get these songs to transfer from the iPhone to the iTunes library?

  • When I try to sync my music on my iPhone 4 I have a tab at the top that says 'on this iPhone' The music in that tab is always on my phone but does not show in my itunes library.  How can I get it into my library?

When I try to sync my music on my iPhone 4 I have a tab at the top that says 'on this iPhone'.  This is at the end of all the other tabs like info, ringtones, music etc. The music in that tab is always on my phone but does not show in my itunes library.  How can I get it into my library?  It doesn't sync either.

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version.  You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes.  Or you can adapt to the new look.

  • Transferred music not showing up in iTunes library

I moved my music from a PC to Mac and now it's not showing up in iTunes. I used an external hard drive to copy all of the songs over and they are in the iTunes music folder. Is there something else I have to do to get them to show up in my iTunes library?

Thanks Niel. I knew it had to be something simple!

  • Download Movies from Music Store but will not show up in ITunes Library

I purchased a Movie from the iTunes Music Store. After downloading the movie the movie disappears. It's not in the itunes libaray or anywhere on my hard drive. I looked at my purchases account info for the store and it has a record of my purchase. Is it a itunes bug? ...Apple has no answers. Using iTunes7.

in your source list, below "LIBRARY", do you have a "Movies" category showing up?
if not, try heading into your general preferences and putting a checkmark next to "Movies" in the "Show" area. there's a screenshot of that tab in this document:
Adding, Browsing, and watching videos in iTunes
if you can get the Movies category to show up in your sourcelist, do the errant Movies show up in it?

  • Movies Not Showing Up in iTunes

I am on an iMac with the lastest everything.  Including 10.7.3.  The problem was happening before 10.7.3 also.
I add m4v files to my iTunes library, they copy in, but I can't find them.  If I go to my iTunes Media folder, I can find them in there.  But, I just can't see them in iTunes.
I allow iTunes to manage my library.  Not sure why things aren't showing?

This problem affects Windows users too.  Has anyone found a fix other than recreating the library?  I went to my home server and restored a backed up ITL file but the corruption looks like it must go at least a couple weeks back and I can't resolve it.
I tried creating a new library from scratch.  This allowed me to re-import everything just fine, but since this is the machine that syncs my iPhone and iPad, iTunes said that they were synced with a different library and it wanted to replace all of the apps and data on both devices.  That's unacceptable.
Interestingly the movies I added show up as being available to put on the iPad and iPhone.  It's just that they don't appear in the main Movies view.  So it's more like the Movies view is corrupted.  I tried removing all of the movies and re-importing them, but now the view just shows the "Feature films and home movies you add to iTunes..." splash page, so it appears there are no movies.
If I can just get them into a playlist then I can live with that.

  • My music is not showing up in itunes library

after i updated my itunes all my music has disappeared. why and how do i get it all back

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • Added music not showing up in iTunes library

I recently bought a cd online and I tried to add it to my library. I tried it like three times, the music isn't showing up there. When I go to the "recently added" playlist, I can see the music there and it's also on my iPod, but it's nowhere to be found in the music folder. What should I do? Is my iTunes library corrupted?

right-click on one of those tracks in iTunes and choose get info. go to the summary tab and check the path to the original file.
also, in iTunes for Mac, if you right-click on a file, you get the option to show in finder (the equivalent to windows explorer). not sure but iTunes for windows might have something similar.

  • M4V movies not showing up in iPad library.

I have several movies downloaded from iTunes via the "Free Digital" copy that comes with many new Blu Ray movies. None are illegally downloaded or ripped. I always choose the apple format (and not the Windows) to be sure that I can play them on my iPhone.
I connect iPad to my computer, then through iTunes go to the "Movies" tab within the device options. I have "Sync Movies" checked but I do not have the "automatically include.." option selected.
Down below I see several movies listed and I select the checkbox of a movie. Then I click apply and wait for the movie to sync. Afterwards, I disconnect and open my iPad. Unfortunately, the movie is no where to be found.
I have double checked that all of my movies are in the correct format (M4V) and none of them are set as television files, they are all movies. Any other ideas why I am unable to find them on my iPad to view?

I don't have any wisdom to offer but I will add this. I never use the sync movies and music settings. I always use the "manually manage movies and music". This way my devices only have what I drag to them. I do use the sync photos and apps.
If the movies are in your itunes library, you should be able to see them and drag them to the ipad device.

  • Songs are not showing up in iTunes library

I have 1600 songs or so on my internal drive.  However, the iTunes library only shows 1600 songs.  They're all in the folders under the same My Music folder/directory on my C drive.  How do I get them to be visible in iTunes?
If I was to delete the library, how would I:
Get the songs to show in a new library?
    Preserve the playlists I have?
Not delete the actual files, including all the apps my kids have purchased for their iTouches?
    Thanks for the help.

Typo above ... only 1300 of the 1600 songs on my local drive show up in iTunes. 300 are physically on the drive but missing from the library. Sorry for the confusion.

  • I have music on my phone that will not show in my iTunes library, so I cannot play those songs from my computer.

I am having a list of problems with my phone. First, my music keeps starting and stopping and I can't get a song to play through.  I went to the apple store and they told me I have some kind of damage so my dock connector thinks it's connected or something. In any case, I have a lot of trouble playing music through my iHome since it is connected by bluetooth and my phone no longer likes to play music. So I've resorted to playing music off my computer through my iTunes library until my phone upgrade is available. Today, I ran into the issue where I noticed I was missing songs from my iTunes library. I checked on my phone and they were on there, so I'm confused why they are not in my library. Shouldn't they be synced?? I'm absolutely perplexed, and I just keep running into problem after problem. Can anyone help as I can't get phone support without giving Apple more money?? Thanks!

You probably purchased those songs on your iPhone and never transferred them to your computer. You can do so by following these instructions:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • Podcasts are downloading, but not showing up in Itunes Library !

Hi guys.... this is d3riving me up the wall !!!
I'm running Windows XP. I recently had some work done on my computer and had to restore Itunes. Initially, nothing worked, but now the only issue I have is with podcasts.
I select the episode I want for download and that works OK. Once the download is completed, the episode is nowhere to be found in Itunes. When I look in the 'podcast' folder in the itunes library in Windows, it is not listed.
I did a search and found these references...
    E:\...\Downloads\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\
    E:\...\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\download.mp4 1,310,720
    E:\...\Downloads\Podcasts\Fischer's Brick_PE'S Chess Cast.tmp\Info.plist 1474
Note 1) Fischer's Brick is the name of the episode of PE'S podcast
Note 2) 1,310,720 on line 2 and 1474 are the file sizes.
Note 3'E' I have set Itunes up on my 'E' drive rather than 'C' which I believe is normal. Don't know if that is relevant as 'Songs' Audiobooks seem to work ok with these settings.
If I select the second line and tell windows to open it in Itunes nothing happens. Actually, what happens is that ITUNES will start playing a song that I downloaded that day!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It's the iTunes library files which, along with the iTunes Music folder and some other files, are found in the iTunes folder that iTunes uses to know the contents of the Library.
It sounds like you may have only copied the iTunes Music folder to your new computer, not the entire iTunes folder. Can you confirm whether or not that is the case?
If that's what happened, repeat the process , making sure the whole iTunes folder goes along for the ride.

  • Rented movie not showing up in iTunes or on AppleTV

I rented two movies before I left and I believe the both dowloanded to my external HD.  I unhooked the MacBook Air from the external HD and wasn't able to watch the movies on the plane because iTunes couldn't find them (they were at home on the HD).  Now, I'm looking to watch both of the movies, I don't believe I started either one of them and I can find them both on the external HD now that I am back.  They aren't recognized anywhere, but the files exist on the HD.  I can't add them to the iTunes library etc.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are some bad sectors on the hard drive of the iPod, see if you can do a Restore on a window base PC, if so, reconnect it back with your Mac and hopefully it will get recognized for you to do the following :-
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes and click “Restore”
