Movie overfills frame in iDVD?

As a first time user of iDVD, I assumed that iDVD wiould 're-size' the movies we have made (mostly stop animation projects using an i-sight) in iMovie - to fit the space available in the chosen 'theme'. Instead we have found that we are watching only a small part of the image, and there is no resize option available in DVD. This is not a ratio problem - changing from 4:3 to 16:9 would not downsize the image enough - the movie is just oversized for the viewing space. Do we need to export the movie at a specific resoltion before iDVD? We can find no reference to this in any help file ... any help appreciated ...?

Are you talking about how a movie appears in a Drop Zone? No, you can't resize to fit, but different themes have different behaviours; some display more image than others. Hunt around to find one that works best but I think that most of them do some cropping of the image.
Your movie should play natively when you hit Play Movie ... tho I'm not sure about your animation codec

How do I move from iMovie to iDvd?

I am new user to both iMovie and iDvd (both in iLife 09). I have made my first movie in iMovie and it is 1 hour 49 minutes. How do I get the movie to iDvd? I tried Share, iDvd, and it worked away for an hour, then gave me an error message that the movie exceeds maximum content duration? Huh? I saw some postings about that and to change encoding settings, but do not know where those are.
If I go to iDvd, I thought if I went to Media and iMovie, it should show all movies in there, but my movie does not show up in that area. I think I found the answer to my question. According to a message I got in iDvd when attempting to open the movie I was told that I should choose Share, Media Browser. Seems like it should be Share, iDvd, but that is what it says. Also, I found the setting in Preferences for encoding and see I need to make it Professional. Guess I had a misunderstanding of encoding, too. I thought that would not be relevant until burning a cd, but evidently it is involved when taking the movie from iMovie to iDvd.

When you upgraded to Snow Leopard did you select the option to install the Quicktime 7 Player? If not the start a reinstall, select the Custom install option and install just the Quicktime 7 Player. That will let you play the movies from iPhoto (although it opens and plays outside iPhoto with Quicktime Player.

Zoom in/out, Move through frame WITHOUT changing the placement/crop size?

How do you actually zoom in and out of a frame, move through it up and down, WITHOUT changing the crop size or placement of the frame?
Scaling doesn't do it...

I mean I don't want the crop size or dimensions to change but I want to move the frame around within the same crop dimensions. Does that make sense?
While showing the image and wireframe in canvas, I should be able to adjust framing without changing dimensions by shift and dragging up or down, but I'm guessing it doesn't work once I've cropped the image since the dimensions are filled to the edge with black.
How can I accomplish this task. The clip is already in a sequences timeline.

Hi. Well i have an application that have a menu bar where i can select a few frames! I want select one frame and my question is, when i click with the right button of the mouse how i can move the frame to the arrow of the mouse! I already implemented the mouse listener and the program responds correctly when i click on the right button but my problem is move the frame to the arrow.

Can you give more details? What exactly is the entire error message text? there should be an error number too. Are you trying to finalize this to an external disk?

Move multiple frames in the motion editor?

Hi! Is there a way to move multiple frames in the motion editor (CS4)? Like now I have to move them one by one and it's hard to make them keep their values coz the shift+move doesn't seem to work. Or should it?

You can move multiple property keyframes for a single property in the Motion editor. Shift-click them and then drag. You cannot move keyframes across different properties, however.
If you want to move *all* keyframes on mutliple frames, you want to do this on the main timeline. Ctrl/cmd+drag across the frames to select the multiple frames, and then drag them on the tween span.

First, go back to iMovie and look under both iMovie Events and Projects to see if you still have the movie. Double check by looking in Finder to where you save the movies you create. For instance, if you save to Movies, there should be folders in there for iMovie Events and iMovie Projects. If they are there, you should see them in the lists in iMovie.
If not, I don't think there is a way you can move it directly back to iMovie. Is there a real need to have it in iMovie? Unless you are going to change the movie, there is not a need to keep it there. If, for some reason you want it there, however, you can go thru the process of copying the DVD back to the hard drive using MPEG Streamclip, and exporting it to Quicktime. Then open iMovie, and bring it back into iMovie.

You can get all the odd/even ones with a loop like this, but it's certainly not as simple as you were hoping for. Either one of these could be turned into a function pretty easily though--the second one you could pass lists of names to and get back the list of all matching labeled items pretty easily. At least then you wouldn't have to be tinkering with the physical layer of the item. That seems like it might bite you eventually...

Extra frames appearing iDVD

I have been using Final Cut Express 2 to cut together clips that have slates at the head.
Then I burn the movies to iDVD. When I play them back on a television, I sometimes get 1 frame of the slates flashing by, frames I don't see in the quicktime movie.
I work with some very short clips and each frame is valuable. I don't want to feel like I am cutting off frames just to fix this problem.
Any ideas?

I have found out, I am seeing 1 field of my slates. When I step through the frames on my dvd/tv, I see the field flash, then it settles on the first image.
I guess FCE and iDVD allow that 1 field of my slates to be available.

After upgrading to mountain lion, the movies I create using iDVD periodically stop then resume abruptly when I play them back on my DVD player. Any ideas on correcting this?

I know this is not much help. IDVD and Mountain Lion are working perfectly for me. I know many others that use Mountain Lion with iDVD also.

How can I get an anamorph movie to widescreen in IDVD

Hi, I NEED URGENT HELP!
A friend of mine and I cut and created a movie on his PC with Premiere Pro 2.0. Now I need to create a high quality dvd from it but I can't get the anamorph data to play in widescreen on my IMac. neither in I Movie nor in IDVD. I tried and burned DVDs in both formats 4:3 and 16:9 but both times the film didn't convert to widescreen and on top the movies looked bad- really bad quality, even though the orignal data my friend gave me, is very high quality film resolution.
What do I need to do to convert the xxx.mov anamorph (16:9) into a widescreen IDVD?
My friend says the original material is: Mini DV, PAL 720x576 Pixel, anamorph (16:9)
Or in what form/size do I need the movies/data from him to make sure I can burn a widescreen dvd with it?

I am not sure about SWF support in Acrobat 8.x, however, if it is supported, you will have to add it to the PDF after the PDF has been created. You can leave the space for it in your FrameMaker document and add it via the Mulimedia Tool.
I do know that SWF is fully supported in Acrobat 9.x, but in this case you will also have to add the SWF to the PDF after converting the FrameMaker document. To do this, marquee and area on the PDF using the Flash Tool; Tools > Multimedia > Flash Tool. You can also simply double click on the PDF with the Flash Tool. Support for SWF, and several other multimedia file types is much stronger in Acrobat 9.
