Movie Playlists

Hello All,
I just got an intel mini about a month ago. Started archiving my movie collection using mac the ripper and accessing them with DVD_Assist (which is a godsend) I love having all my movies called up at a moments notice!
But I digress. My question is this.
Is there a way to have a movie that is on two seperate discs to play one right after the other? A good example would be Lord of the Rings. After disc one is over it asks for you to play disc two. It would be great to have this happen automatically.
It would be helpful when watching trilogies and/or TV Series too. After one movie/episode is over the next in the series would automatically start playing.
Any ideas?

Hi, I've had some successes coupling some of the tv series i have handbraked from disk into one long movie, using the latest version of quick time you can open multiple files and then drag the little icon of part 2 onto the screen of part one(make shore that part one has played through to the end) then when you close part one it will ask you if you want to save changed file. these files work fine for me on front row though they are quite big and its a pain if you want to start several episodes in, I'm now in the habit of saving then in four part lots. Still i hope this has been a help.

Remote App 3.0 Movie Playlist

Recently upgraded to Remote App 3.0, along with an ATV upgrade. Glad to see the WiFi issues have been cleared up. new problem however is that Movie Playlists will not start the movie.
Scenario is:
Load Remote App 3.0
Connect to "Office" Apple TV
Select "Media Server" from Home Share
I do no select any specific category, and I am presented with all my Playlists
Select Movie from any playlist (Smart or no) the movie will not start
Anyone else running in to this problem.
If I look under specificly the "Movies" section in the Home Share, the only options I have are Unwatched, All Movies and Generes.
When using the navigation controls and having the AppleTV it self view the play lists (after enabling the option to see Playlists in all areas) I am able to use the Smart Playlists I have been able to use. This would isolate the issue to Remote App 3.0
The question is, why won't the latest Remote App start a movie from a playlist?

Unable to load movie playlist?

I'm really starting to regret Upgrading to Director 11. I
didn't have any of these issues going from MX to MX 2004. All I'm
trying to do is make a simple projector work on a Mac and it's one
issue after another. Not to mention all this after updating a whole
boat load of Xtras 11 requires.
The new one is this;
Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI file exsist? It
must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry
'Movies01=pathname.dir'.
I've already read a couple of other forum post with the same
error message going on with others but can't find certain files
required to make the fix like the 'Projec32.skl',
and I don't know how to read, let alone make an .INI file.
I'll mention I got this error after updating to Shockwave 11
EVEN though I was not publishing a Shockwave movie.
I know I just need to include a certain file on my CD when I
burn one because all works great on the desk top, but I'm throwing
darts trying to figure out what the CD burn is missing.
So to make a long story short does anyone know what I might
be missing?
I'm new to making director movies for the Mac, and even using
a Mac so I might need it spelled out a little more for being a
novice.

PS I tried making a Mac Projector from my PC with no good
results either.

This is a very frustrating problem. I have run into it as well, but can't tell you exactly how I solved it, its been a while since I've seen it. It does have something to do with the length of the path to your projector when its published. I would suggest moving your movie as close as possible to the root of the drive, you may even want to restart to ensure all the internal variables have been reset and then republish the movie.
If you publish the movie from your authoring location and then copy the projector to a cd or the desktop the path length seems to be built into the projector at publishing. So that does not solve the problem. It is fairly easy to get a long path name - c:/mylocaldrive/documents and settings/yourusername/yourprojectsfolder/yourprojectname.dir has a path name length of 100 characters! I realize you are on a mac, but the same rules apply.
I also might be mistaken with the maximum path length. Perhaps its 128 characters?
Has anyone else run into this error?

Movie playlist in iTunes is not showing up on ATV3

I created a Movie playlist in iTunes with 3 trailers and a movie. I can view the playlist fine in iTunes. When I go to my ATV3 the playlist does not show up anywhere. There is no playlist option under movies and the playlist doesn't show up when I select playlists under Music. I can access my music playlists fine and also the movies. It's just this Movie playlist that is missing on the ATV. Where do I access a Movie playlist on ATV3?
iTunes version: 11.0.1
Apple TV software: 5.1.1

This is not to be done in iTunes in your computer; this is to be done at your apple TV under "setting". "audio video" "show playlist" "music only/all"
I am posting this here because I started chat mode with Apple support last night at midnight till 1:30, they didn't know what to do.
They called me back this morning at 10 am.
It's not 11:40 they finally know what I am talking about and showed me where to to find the "music only / all" toggle. My problem is now fixed;
all these time, they have in front of them a screen shot of your questions and answer but they don't know where to change it from music only to all.
So, I hope this will save the next victim a lot of time.

Is there a way to make movies playlists in itunes 10?

I would like to be able to make a playlist consisting of movies without having to change info to make them into music videos. If there were a sperarte music video category in the itunes library section, that sure would be neat. But instead there is a music video playlist where the music videos will be, but they also show up in the Music library which I do not like or want. So is there a way to make a movies playlist w/o them ending up clogging the Music section of my itunes library?

You can make a playlist that contains any combination of audio and video from the Music, Movies, TV Shows, Books (Audiobooks) and Podcasts sources. If you really object to the music videos appearing in Music, either make them Movies, or perhaps better yet, TV Shows and give them a common Show name to group them together.

Movie playlist now missing on iOS 5 for iPad

Is anyone aware if Apple will be bringing back the ability to create movie playlists as was available on iOS4? What a bummer.

Sorry, but no one who would know can discuss unreleased software such as iOS 5 in these forums. We'll have to wait, probably for the official release, before such details will be known.

Movie Playlist Autoplay next movie

Since the latest update of the iTunes for Windows 7 (x64) that my movie playlists don't play automaticly from the end of the movie A to the begining of the movie B and so on...
In the latest version this works perfectly, and now I don't know how it stoped.

Video playlist and movie playlist

Is there a way to place the videos that i have converted with the videora program into the video section and not the movie section on my 30g video ipod? Or if not can I make a movie playlist?

Right now, all imported videos are going into movies. Tell apple you, like many others, want the ability to change where they go.

Any way to convert a file from Movie playlist to TV show playlist?

Hi, I just uploaded a few tv shows from my computer to itunes, but unfortunately, the tv show i uploaded went to the Movies playlist.
I cannot drag the file over to tv show no matter how hard i try. It stays on Movies.
Is there any way to change this?

You can right click on the title, and choose GET INFO, there's a tab there, i think it's OPTION and choose TV SHOW (default is on MOVIES)

Syncing Movie Playlists?

In the past, I've always had specific playlists in iTunes that I would add/remove songs and movies from then sync directly to my iPod (just in case something happend and I lost everything on the iPod I could just sync right back to where it was).
But now with the iPhone 3G all I can do is scroll through a list (in my case, an extremely long list) of movies and put a tick next to the ones I want on my iPhone - this gets very annoying very quickly.
Is there a way to sync movie playlists directly to you iPhone 3G?

No way.
iPhone only recognizes one Movie list, the same for TV Shows.
If you want to create a Movie list in the iTunes you use to sync your iPhone, it won't be recognized either.
The Movies are treated as if they were in a solely single list that you can't modify... at least that you modify the name of every movie in iTunes to make them appear in different order.
I am agree that it is a must to have a way to manage movies in different lists. But, at this moment, it is impossible.

Feature request- access to movie playlists

iTunes allows users to create playlists of movies - just as it does playlists of songs. However, the Apple TV only displays movies in a scrollable alphabetical list. When attempting to access a playlist of movies via streaming, the Apple TV gives an alert that there is no music in the playlist.
There is no reason to have this limitation on the Apple TV, and while many users may not care while movie collections are relatively small, the ultimate point of this device, and of the newest itenerationof iTunes, is to manage all your content just as easily and flexibly as you manage your music.
Please consider allowing access to movie playlists in a future software update to the Apple TV.

How do I move playlists in ipod to itunes library

I am trying to move playlists from my ipod to my itunes library on my new computer. I am specifically trying to find a way to move the entire playlist-- intact-- not just random songs, if possible. I realize there have been many answers posted to this question in the past but it appears that many of the answers are not up-to-date anymore for the latest itunes software and ipod hardware. In the requirements it says:
• To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 1GB of RAM is required.

Performed the AppleTV update yesterday. Haven't had a problem since...though it's only been one day. Am I just hopelessly optimistic to think that AppleTV just needed to be updated to match iTunes and iOS for home sharing and airplay?

You can group music, but not movies (videos). There is a way to group movies:
Select the movies in you 'Movies' tab in iTunes, right click, then select get info.
Tick the box next to artist, and fill in the studio of the movie. Then re-sync all content to iPod.
Albums of MP4 need to be converted to AAC, to do this:
Select the songs you wish, right click, and choose 'Covert Selection to iPod'.
