Movie quality afer export is horrible, whats going on??

Hi,
I have a 2hr piece, its been rendered, saved, looks great on the timeline........however, i have tried every possible to export this piece and every single one looks horrible. Horrible = when there is fast motion or just about any motion the picture turns into long bars across the screen. Its like severe pixalation. I have used the compression markers but they have done absolutely nothing!! I have exported in every way, read every post on this site and nothing works!!! PLEASE HELP!!

#8 External Monitor Viewing.
Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

  • Best settings for highest quality for exporting a .mov  file to h.264

    Hi,
I want to know what the best settings are for the highest quality for exporting a .mov file (720p50) to h.264. I want the same quality as the original.
I want to know the data rate etc.
    regards,
    Jeroen

There is no way to get the exact same quality when transcoding from an editing source to a highly compressed H.264 QT. However, you can get a real high quality by adjusting the data rate.
However, these things depend on the length of the original. I routinely encode H.264s with good results in the 3000-5000 data rate range. I also make sure that I use multiple pass encoding. Take a short snippet of your project (10 seconds or so), and try various bit rates until you have one you like that doesn't take forever.

    Hi 22chill,
I recommend that we delete and re-download the movie from your purchase history:

  • Poor quality when exporting to MOV (H264/AAC) with CS5 and CS5.5

    Hi there,
I need to export my HDV sequence (1440*1080 Pixel 1,33 25fps) using HDV footage only to MOV format (with H264 / AAC codecs).
I'm using 1024*576 (1.0) SD preset with a correct video bitrate CBR 6mbs and the Quality is awful.
When I use the H264 format ( to get a .MP4 file) with the same preset (1024*576 square pixel >> CBR 6mbs) the quality is quite good. I 'm pretty happy with that. The only thing is that my client (TV) needs the clip in MOV format (including H264/AAC codecs) and the quality is awful. They expect me to use FCP as most of the journalists here in France use this application.
    I tried with PREMIERE CS5 on a PC (windows 7 64 bits) >> 8G0 RAM, Dual Core
and with PREMIERE PRO CS5.5 on a mac
Same awful result when trying to export to MOV (H264/AAC).
I heard that PREMIERE can't properly export to this format? Is this correct? If so, i need to convince my client to use only MP4 (H264/AAC) files since I don't really wanna use Final Cut Pro or Media Composer to edit and export my clip.
    Any tips ?
    Thanks guys.
    Julien

I had similar quality issues exporting H264 from PPro vs. Avid Media Composer.  CHeck out this thread link http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854379?tstart=0.
I found it pretty helpful, it also links to another reference thread.
I think it's possible, but will take a bit of trial and error.

  • Can anyone tell me whats going on? Crystal Report Exporting issue

    Hi,
I am having a issue with the way that CR exports a report. It was working GREAT until we restarted our server. At which point a 2 page CR exported to a PDF began to display enlarged and over 21 pages. The code never changed and if exporting from the VS CR tool it previews and exports perfectly. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Could a install of Acrobat Reader 8 caused this? or anything else for that matter? Any thoughts would be a great help cause it might help me think of something I have over looked.
    Thanks
    Jeremy

it would not be install of Adobe that would cause this, however a changed printer driver may. Has the printer driver changed? Do you see any difference on the rpeort if you set the option "No Printer? (File menu, select Page setup).
When you say the report is now 21 pages, do you mean it has more data? Or has the format changed such that it is 21 pages long. The latter would again point to printer driver...

  • HT5132 Hi there when I start move mobile me to aperture my mac goes to crash: what do I have to do?

Hi there when I start move mobile me to aperture my mac goes to crash: what do I have to do?

Try to download your MobileMe content from your me.com web page:
Ope your System Preferences, then select the "Mobile Me" pane / Accounts panel.
There press the "Visit Me.com" button and download your Mobile Me contents. Then sign out of Mobile Me.
When you relaunch Aperture and the "Mobile Me" has been discontinued panel pops up don't use the "ok" button, but click the "Learn more" button. Ignore the web page, and open the Aperture preferences.
In the "Web > Accounts" tab of the preferences remove the "Mobile Me" account.

  • Why is the quality of movies and pictures exported to the external hard drive lowered?

Why is the quality of movies and pictures exported to the external hard drive lowered?

Are you speaking of manually moving these files, or using an application to export?
When you use the the term "export", it usually entails an application performing some kind of file conversion, rather than a simple transfer. It is during conversion to another file format that information may be lost through lossy compression, or by settings of the export.
Anytime you convert a file to another format, there will usually be some loss or degradation. Tghis can't be helped, as one format may not support every information characteristic the original one did.

I had the exact same thing happen ... for the second time.  I'm done renting movies on Apple TV that I cannot watch, and don't get my money back.  I have a strong Internet connection, and about 10 minutes into a movie and it stops and says that the movie will be ready to view in 55 hours.  Rediculous ... and frustrating.  I don't know how to fix this, and I disagee with the other person responding to you who said it was your network.  I have a strong network, running through an Airport Extreme -- and this problem persists.  I'm done.

I didn't even have time to cancel the preorder as that processed a couple minutes before the bundle was posted.
Pre-orders are apparently not worth my time ever again.

  • Quality problem exporting from FCE

    Hi,
i have a quality problem exporting from FCE. I have finalized a 30 minute movie and want to send it to friends on DVD or CD-ROM. when i use "export as quicktime movie" the file has 6.5 GB and won't fit on a DVD-ROM. when i use "export with quicktime conversion" and choose quicktime movie with H.264 compression and highest quality the movie goes down to 4.2GB. Now it would fit on a DVD-ROM, but the quality is not good. The picture looks blurred and i see some type of interlace-effect.
which type of export format do i have to choose to avoid the interlace and blurred pictures? is there a magic format that does not cost that much quality and reduces the movie by 30-40%? or would a video DVD work better? how do i create a DVD? with iDVD?
    thanks for your help!

or would a video DVD work better? how do i create a DVD? with iDVD?
    That's what Id do.
Export as QuickTime Movie (reference file is OK) and drop the export to iDVD.
You will get 1 hour of FCE Timeline on a single sided disc using Best Performance (iDVD setting).
Two hours using Best Quality (iDVD setting)

  • Low quality when exporting.

I have a movie recorded in HD720p by iPhone 4.
I imported it into iMovie 11 (edited, etc.), and after I export in HD. Unfortunately, movie quality is very bad.
Screenshot from iMovie - quality is fine:
    http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/3251/36192067.jpg
Here are exported using QuickTime - 720p, mp4 - really ugly effect
    http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/1614/72690083.jpg
And the last attempt to export using the "share" -> Export Movie -> 960x540, m4v (HD is unavailable - I don't know why...)
    http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/2364/nrmor.jpg
How do I export the movie in original resolution and without loss of quality?
I'm sorry for my "English" mistake

You might try to do some custom exports. Here is a so so video I made about just that using another version of the H.264 codec. http://bit.ly/aw9dVh
I have a phone that shoots "720p" too but I would in NO WAY compare the output of my phone to what my "real" camera can do. So in short... Don't expect better quality to what you see in iMovie preview.

  • Poor video Quality when exporting to DVD

I cant seem to get a clear video. I am downloading from DV from a canon and the quality is sentational.
When on the time line averything is brilliant. When rendereing everything is still ok.
When exporting to DVD it goes pear shaped. I have tried dozens of different variations with the same results.
I am in AUstralia and am using PAL.
I get motion blur and what appears to be very poor quality result after exporting.
Help... I dont have much hair left.
    Premier Pro Tragic

    @Harm,
"Pear-shaped" (or sometimes "fruit-shaped") is a euphemism meaning that the effort has gone awry; it was a mess.
    @John,
Export to DVD is a PPro 2.0 function; in CS3 it is now Export to Encore. Is that what you meant?
First thing is to check the field orders of your source material and of your export settings. Don't invert them, and don't deinterlace interlaced footage.
Perhaps a short list of the settings you have tried (and why you chose those settings) would help us help you.

  • Less quality after export Pemiere Pro CS5

    Hello,
Not sure if I am writing this in the right place but the adobe forum is not working so I was hoping someone in here could help me out. I have made some nice tracks on my snowboard holliday. I want to make a movie of that. I tried this in Final Cut, but when someone recommaned Premiere Pro to me I was definitely convinced of Premiere Pro. The movies are taken in 720P 60FPS. Someone told me as a sequence I had to choose HDV720P 29,97 FPS. Because when I do a slomotion of 50% it stays 30 FPS. So I started a sequence in HDV720 29,97 FPS. I made the first few minutes and tried to export it. I choose the option H.264 in HDV720P 29,97 as an export file. When I watch the exported file in the same program (VLC) and compare the shot of the real movie to the exported one there is really less quality. I was wondering why is there less quality and what is the best to choose to get the same quality as the real movie?
    Best regards,
    Cathelijne

Many thanks for your reply. Someone on the adobe forum helped me out. In premiere I can choose a sequence by selecting the video and it will take all the settings of the video to the sequence. I have done that. I still the find the exported file a bit less in quality. I mean the image quality and not the motion. I have exported in H.264 - High quality - 720p - 59,97 fps - VBR pass 2 - maximum render quality and a bitrate of 6 and max 10. For a 12 minute video the file size was 550 mb.
The 60 fps mode of the camera (contour HD, almost same as GoPro) is really cool especially when you play in slow motion it looks really nice. I still think (not because of Premiere but also the raw shots) when you look at a 60 fps video it looks like it is in fast motion. Don't know why this is.

  • Importing HD footage mov./mp4 export to hd

When importing HD mov.mp4 or hddvds, once the file goes into the timeline the resolution softens, when exporting to play on DVD player the playback does not look HD, can someone help?

    roarusafrank wrote:
maybe its SD, however the resolution of that dvd looks nice on a dvd player, however when I import that dvd into PP and make a couple of edit then export to media and burn on toast the quality playback does not look as crisp on the dvd player? Im not sure if importing incorrect or exporting?
First, you are compressing HD to DVD, losing quality in the process, then you edit this compressed material again and need to compress again, which loses quality for the second time. That is called generation loss. Each time you encode/compress you lose quality. Do your edits and only when completely finished, encode/compress to DVD.
Second, using toast instead of DVD can also deteriorate quality (depends a bit on your toaster).
