Movie rental direct to iPad?

I am new to iPad and am having trouble with movie rnetals.  Can one download directly to an iPad?  I have tried twice and have not been able to find the downloaded movie once it seems to have finished.  I read elseswhere that you may need to rdownload to a laptop or cumputer and then transfer to the iPad.  So what's the best way to do this?

You should be able to download it directly on the iPad, and it should then appear in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :
If you do download it directly on the iPad you can't then copy it to your computer. if you rent and download it on your computer you can then sync it to the iPad.

  • Movie rental search on iPad

I've searched and searched discussions with no results.... How do I search the iTunes store on my iPad to find JUST movie RENTALS? So often, going thru the movies I'll "view" one only to find that it is not rentable.  I read that on a computer there is a "power search" to narrow results to see just rentals. But it's kinda senseless to have to boot up the computer for this feature. I truly hope it is available on the iPad. How do I narrow my results? Please help!!!!

  • Movie Rental Download on IPad Error

I have 3 movie rentals that I have not been able to download. At this time I would like to clear them from the IPad. Everytime I open the IPad Applications it requests my password so it can start a new download only to get another error.
    How do I clear this?

  • HT2729 I can't find movie rentals on my iPad, even though in iTunes it says they are on my iPad.  Not in Videos, of course.

I rented movies from iTunes and although it says they were transferred on to my iPad, I can't find these movies anywhere!  And yes, I did look in Videos and also searched them on the search screen.

You dont just sync rental movies to the iPad - you "Move" them in the movies tab of iTunes while the iPad is connected, iTunes is running and with the iPad selected on the left side under devices and then you sync. You must be connected to the Internet as well in order for the movies to move to the iPad.
Therefore you can't auto sync movie rentals from iTunes to the iPad. Do you auto sync?
I found this from another discussion.

  • Movie rental issues on iPad

Anyone else having issues renting movies where rentals either downloaded directly to an ipad or downloaded to a Mac and then transferred to an ipad disappear? This has happened to me at least half a dozen times. Anyone else have a similar experience? To be clear, the initial transfer from Mac to ipad generally goes fine, but at some point along the way before i have a chance to watch it, the movie disappears as a rental. Looks like the HD space is still occupied (at least judging by free space on the ipad), but the movie isn't recognized / available.

  • Past movie rentals appear on iPad

I have an iPad 2 running iOS 6.01.  I was looking on the "On This iPad" page in iTunes 11 today, and saw that under Rentals was a greyed-out item for a movie that I did rent, but watched and deleted well over a year ago.  Any ideas on how I can get rid of it?  It's not taking up any space on the iPad.

I'm running iOS 6.01. I am not syncing any movies or tv shows from iTunes to my iPad. And I have not downloaded any videos or tv shows directly to my iPad. There is no data in the usage settings that indicates any storage is being taken up by videos. When I open the Video app, I see the No Videos splash screen.
I tried the "reboot" as you mentioned and the issue persists.
    Thanks.

  • HT2729 Where is my movie rental on my ipad

Have you checked the Videos App on the iPad?

  • Movie rentals disappear from IPad when trying to download

This is the second time this has happened now whilst using IOS7 on IPad.  Try and rent a movie and it does not appear to download or appears to only partially download.  Click on the little cloud icon or the download circle to restart the download and the video simply disappears. Fortunately we have been able to get a refund by using the report a problem option when we get the email receipt.

What do you mean it doesn't recognize it? Are you getting a message that the password is incorrect?
Sign out of your Apple ID, restart your iPad and sign in again. Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID>Tap your ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Sign in again.

  • Can't find movie rentals on my iPad

We rented 6 movies through iTunes on my son's pc and they look like they are on his iPad when we look at it through the iTunes on his PC but when we go and look on the actual iPad, we can't see them anywhere.
    Am I missing something here?
    Marcus

I think somehow what I'm trying to say is getting jumbled up from my head to the keyboard lol
For some reason he had to plug his iPad into his computer and power up iTunes in order to be able to rent the movies - he chose HD
When iTunes is open on his deksktop and the device "Jacob's iPad" is selected we can see the movies on his iPad like you showed in the first example you showed via the 8:25pm response.
If we disconnect the iPad from the desktop we can't find any of the movies on it - not using the Video app or through the iTunes app on the iPad.
We've basically deleted almost everything off the iPad in order to have enough room (32GB iPad) so that isn't the issue - we just can't find the darn things on the actual iPad.
I'm tempted to just reset the unit to factory settings and start from scratch but worry I'll lose the movies he has already rented and paid for via a credit given to him by his mom.

  • Movie rental plays on atv3 only through airplay from ipad

In ATV 3 downloaded rental movie disappears from line up of rented, purchased etc. I can download rental movie on to the ipad 4th gen and iarplay the movie on atv 3 only. I get a message on atv3 to go to settings and downloads but there is no "download" section in the settings for ATV 3. If I select the "check for rentals" I am told no rentals are present.
Basically, I can't play my movie rental through through atv3 but have to relay on my ipad to airplay it to atv 3. Help!

I have spent 2 hrs. searching this forum and others for a solution to this problem. I have the same problem - I have an iPad 2, brand new ATV. We don't have fast Internet at home (can't stream video), so I rented a couple of movies from iTunes onto my iPad. I have a DLink router running (with no Internet connected) - the ATV and iPad are both on that network. When I mirror the iPad, the ATV says (on the TV) - it can't show it (I can't remember the precise message). Tried two movies - same result.
I know you can't move a rented movie you downloaded onto an iPad to your computer. But it seems like you should be able to watch a movie rental from your iPad to your TV via ATV. Is that not the case?
    Wow ....

I can't transfer a movie rental to my iPad for viewing, I am getting a message that I need to authorize my iPad in order to tranfer.  I have deauthorized and authoried the iPad a number of times, still no luck

  • 3.2.1 update and unwatched movie rentals

I have an unwatched movie rental on my iPad. Meanwhile, I just clicked "Update" to upgrade to iOS 3.2.1, and received the following message from iTunes:
    iTunes
    ======
There are rented movies on the iPad "My iPad". You should transfer these movies to your iTunes library before updating this iPad. Are you sure you want to continue?
Couple of issues with this message:
    1. on other threads (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11827605 and the Movie Rental FAQ) we've established that we actually can't transfer "these movies" to my iTunes library... so I'm being told to do something that the software won't allow.
    2. we're not told of the consequences for not following the instructions. Is this a "it's always a good idea to backup before laying down a new OS" type of message, or will I lose the unwatched rental if I upgrade to iOS 3.2.1?
I guess I can sidestep the whole issue and watch the rented movie and then upgrade...

You're not transferring them to another device, your just transferring them to iTunes on your computer so it can put them back on your iPad after you do the upgrade. Unless you do this transfer first (I think it's under the File menu) then you will lose your rented movies after the upgrade.
