Movie rental issue on my IPad

As soon as I try to update my card information on my iPad to rent a movie. It gives me a message to contact iTunes support, any help would be greatly appreciated. I updated my info already from my computer on the site, but it still doesn't let me rent or purchase. Help

Have you contacted iTunes support ? If not then you can contact them via this page and ask them why the message is appearing : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Ipad 2 movie rental issue..."cannot open"

I rented 2 movies for a flight last weekend, and when I went to watch them, I received an error message stating that either of the movies "cannot open".  Apple did refund the rental costs, but I want to know why they didn't work in the first place.  I'm running iOS 5 on my ipad.  I just don't want this to happen again to me.  Any advice as to what happened??

I had the same problem too! I downloaded 7 rental movies for a week's fishing trip in France (NO internet connection for the week). Started playing the 1st one on the first night there, and it seemed just fine. Stopped the film halfway through, and when trying to start it again later that evening, got the dreaded "cannot open" message! Tried all the other films (including the one I'd already started to watch), and got the same "cannot open" message. None of them worked for the entire trip. When I got home the following week and connected to WiFi, they all started playing just fine. Turned the iPad to airplane mode, and started getting the error message again.
I opened a case with Apple Support (who have refunded the payments for all 7 movies) and they're trying to tell me it's a download issue! I'm not so sure - I think the movies are all downloaded just fine - but it seems to be some sort of validation issue requiring internet connection (though, if that's the case, I don't know why the one I'd already started to watch was giving the same error message when I went back to complete it!??)
On their latest support email, they've said the following....
"when you download more than 2 movie rentals at a time they will not be completely downloaded and will not play completely and will show the message "cannot open", therefore I advise you to whenever you download movie rentals always download one at a time"
I'll try this next time, as I did download all 7 rentals at the same time, but I'm still dubious that it's a download issue as I've definitely downloaded multiple rentals previously, and not suffered this problem before

  • Movie Rentals and Purchases on IPad - What's wrong with this?

Bought my very first Apple product...(IPad 64G WiFi only) last week.
I intended to use it just to keep me busy reading, watching movies, playing games, on all the long flights to Europe and Asia that I take.
So yesterday I excitedly set up an ITunes account, and downloaded 4 movie rentals, and purchased one other movie (Angels and Demons). All HD. I just figure I'd let it run all night and I'd see the movies the next morning.
The rentals all appear to have downloaded, and they show up in the videos section. HOWEVER, they are ALL marked "Expires in 17 hours". Never started watching any of them, why are they already set to expire? The rental info section of Itunes says I have 30 days to start watching, then 24 hours after that til they expire.
As for the purchased movie, th it appeared stuck on the "tap to retry" icon, which I did several times, with repeated errors, until the download icon simply disappeared and no sign of the dowload status or the actual movie anywhere.
I DID get billed for all of these. This is like 40 bucks worth of stuff.
Everyone who uses MAC stuff always brags about how great it is, how excellent customer service is, how things just "work", etc.
Color me WAY not impressed. No answers to my emails sent through ITunes help (yes, I checked spam folder) and no movies for my flight to China this weekend.
Any suggestions on things to change to make it work better next time? OR just buy a **** portable DVD player for 400 bucks less than an Ipad?

    Check the iTunes box.
    Click OK.
You can report problems to Apple via the iTunes store. Launch iTunes. Select iTunes Store on the left. On the right side of that window select your account name. In the next window click: Purchase History then click: Report a Problem.

  • TS1717 iTunes movie rental stops playing on ipad

iTunes movie rental keeps freezing at same point in rental is there anything I can do?

I have the same problem. At first I got this message:
This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
I have a brand new macbook pro 15" with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 and 8GB of ram. I have purchased numerous TV episodes in both HD & SD and have no issues. i rented this movie yesterday and could only play it via my Apple TV. I haven't installed the latest OS update but my itunes is up to date and like I mentioned I can play everything else.
I just tried again after changing the setting to switch displays to save power. Now every time I try to play the movie it asks me to authorize my computer, then tells me its already authozied, then gives me a black screen in play mode with no movement on the play indicator.

  • Movie rental issues on iPad

Anyone else having issues renting movies where rentals either downloaded directly to an ipad or downloaded to a Mac and then transferred to an ipad disappear? This has happened to me at least half a dozen times. Anyone else have a similar experience? To be clear, the initial transfer from Mac to ipad generally goes fine, but at some point along the way before i have a chance to watch it, the movie disappears as a rental. Looks like the HD space is still occupied (at least judging by free space on the ipad), but the movie isn't recognized / available.

There may not be a way unless you restore. I did a search and found threads with no real answer like this one:

  • Movie rental issues

Ok looking for some assistance on this one since I cannot figure out, I have searched and no one has really come up with a good easy to understand English like explanation on how to resolve it since I have attempted all those that are out there as well as those wonderful little tidbits from Apple, who have no real explanation on how to resolve it as well.  Ok - diatribe over - here is the issue.
I have rented several movies over the last couple of months and I continually receive errors on the downloads that vary to network connectivity, which are bogus, to not having enough access privileges, to failing on the download due to the infamous Error -50 which seems so descriptive.
So now if that wasn't frustrating enough, I was finally able to get one movie downloaded and then I could not transfer it to my iPad said it was already sync'd to another device, ugh!!!  so being a loyal customer I attempted to try this again and wow go figure I went back down the same path but now the original movies that I wanted continue to appear in my downloads and I cannot get them to go away so every download is continually slowed because they keep reappearing.
So hopefully I have entertained some of you and not wasted your time, I am looking for some assistance for those wonderful geniuses out there that speak a little known language known as English and can explain as to how I can resolve this wonderful little quandry, that from what I can tell from a simple Google search seems to be happening to many of us out there, resolve this.  Appreciate your interest and patience in this rant and thanks in advance.

The section in this article pertaining to Specific Conditions and Alert Messages offers troubleshooting for Error -50 when downloading content from the iTunes Store:

With regards to those items that are stuck in your account's download queue, I regret to inform you that it is not possible to delete files from your iTunes Store account's download queue as a customer. This feature is an iTunes failsafe in place to protect against the accidental deletion of files prior to download completion. iTunes Store Customer Support will have to assist you with this. You can contact them via:

  • HT201667 Moving movie rental from computer to ipad 2 in Canada?

I have rented a movie from itunes Canda onto my laptop. Can I move it onto my ipad 2? If so, how?  Does having Cloud storage available help?

In the U.S.A., it's possible to transfer the movie from your computer to another device (that's the only move that's allowed).  I don't have any rentals right now so I can't tell you the exact command.  Open up iTunes on your computer and display the movies page from the library.  As I recall, the command is obvious.

  • Moved a movie rental from PC to IPad but now cannot find it on IPad

The longer version of the problem is that for some reason I am unable to rent a movie on the iPad.  The "rent" button is not lit.  So I rented the
movie on my PC and then moved it to the iPad.  When you look at the iPad in iTunes on my PC it shows that the rental is there.  But, it is no where to
be found on the iPad--not in Videos app or under iTunes.

    Did you set any restrictions?

  • Movie rentals disappear on my ipad

I have had several movies that I have rented on my Macbook Air and then transfer to my Ipad...they just disapear when I go back a couple of days later...not an expiration issue as it is within the 30 days...very strange and very frustrating...do not understand why it keeps happening...

Same here... I rented Cowboys vs. Aliens on my iMac, tried to pass it to my Apple TV, nothing... Tried to pass it to my iPad, and it's gone... Nowhere the movie... I haven't even start watching it yet...

  • How to transfer iTunes Movie rental? - PC to iPad

My boss's wife rented a movie from iTunes and dropped it onto her PC (her first mistake, lol!) and now she can't figure out how to transfer it from the PC onto her iPad 1.  She says she knows how to sync her iPad but that she can't get the movie to transfer. She said something about a screen popping up and asking her to agree to "Terms & Conditions" but says that when she clicks on that, she's taken to a 'legalese' page with terms and conditions for every different country - not sure what all this is about, do you know what's happening?
She has not opened the movie so it should still be able to be transferred to her iPad.
Are there any simple instructions I can point her to?  Are there any pitfalls, or tricks, she needs to look out for?
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated!
    Nick

The iTunes Store may be asking for her to accept new terms for use of the Store, which get published from time to time. She should just accept the terms as presented.
As to transferring the movie, see:

  • Movie rental issue

I rented an HD movie and it doesn't play right on my laptop for whatever reason. So, I went to my iTunes on my other computer, opened up the rental folder and saw my rental there, BUT iTunes will not play it since it is authorized to play on another device or computer. How can I fix this?
