Movie start times consistency

Is anyone else out there having a bug with movie start times in 7.1? I've loaded a movie, set the start time on the movie window, and then, whenever I load the song file again, I find that the start time has changed. I'm pretty sure this is a bug, but wanted to see if anyone else out there has experiened this, or if I'm doing something wrong.
Josh Roach

yes, I experience this with every cue I write. It is the reason I've gotten into the habbit of making timing notes for myself. This is definitely a bug and I hipe it is fixed soon.

Does anyone else seem to not be able to type in their movie start time anymore? Every time I type it in and press enter, I get a completely unrelated TC start instead.

Doese the Movie have an embedded TC?
What are your Project settings for Synchronization? Have you entered the correct starting time for Logic (e.g. bar 1 1 1 1 starts at 00:00:00:00) and have you entered an offset (e.g. bar 1 1 1 1 displays at SMPTE 10:00:00:00)?

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen - Won't use iTunes Movie Start Time

I've went into the info options under a movie in my iTunes library, and changed the start time. But when playing back on my Apple TV from the beginning, it does not start at that time? Is this functionality not transferred to the Apple TV? I have a 3rd gen, and I would like to know a way I can either chop the beginning to this film off without re-encoding, or if there is a way my Apple TV will recognize my start position set up for specific iTunes movies..?

AFAIK? is that iTunes conversion? I tried earlier to create an Apple TV format video from the video source in iTunes and had a set in point, it did not clip the beginning...
I do know that if you do this same process with audio it will clip the beginning, I do this for ringtones... If anyone finds a solution besides having to re-export, would be great!
I love my Apple TV I just wish it all worked more fluidly, has some glitches here and there and these things should go both ways..

  • Movie Audio After Changing Start Time

I've searched the forum and I can't find any info about this.
If I change the "Bar Position plays at SMPTE" setting in Song Settings-Synchronization, I can make bar one start at the appropriate place in the movie.... but the audio track I exported to the arrange window is now out of sync. Other than dragging that long track around for every cue, is there an easy way to have the audio re-sync?
I tried re-exporting the audio, but it didn't work. It will slide the audio back to measure -8 but no further, so I have to trim the front-end of the region then slide the region back until it is eventually in sync with the movie.
Any info on some shortcuts to this process?
    Thanks,
    Richard

You are doing everything right. Unfortunately, Logic isn't "smart" enough to extract audio from the QT movie based on where your movie start time is set.
And you really, really don't want to be working in the negative bar areas of Logic. This is a sure way to develop a corrupt song.
The best way to get audio in sync is as follows:
Disable the "hide windows of inactive songs" pref.
Create a new song and load up the movie.
Set the correct frame rate for the song file.
Ensure you're at the proper sample rate (usually 48).
Turn off contiguous sync (accessible in the movie window -- click/hold).
If your movie starts with a timecode burn on the very first frame of the movie file (not first picture, but the very top of the file, even if the file starts with academy leader), set the movie start time and SMPTE start time to agree with that very first frame of the movie).
If your movie starts in the black with no timecode burn, adjust your movie start and SMPTE start to a point where Logic's timecode display is in agreement with the picture's timecode, but ensure that when you're at bar 1 1 1 1 that you're seeing the very very very very first frame in that movie file.
Next, extract the audio to the arrange window. SMPTE-lock the region (a safety precaution) and save this song. It will become your master audio reference.
Now, if you're working on a cue where your movie start time needs to be set to a point other than the very start of the film you're going to get the audio from this reference file each time. And to do so with absolute precision requires the following steps:
    1. Determine the first frame of picture that you will be working to in your cue. Make absolutely sure that you've adjusted your movie start time in this file so that bar 1 1 1 1 starts on the leading frame of the picture. Not in the middle of the frame, not at the end, but the very start (this is done by adjusting the bits value until your 'target frame' changes to the previous frame. Then you move the bits value in the other direction until your target frame appears. Rock the bits value back and forth a bit to ensure, within no more than +/- 2 bits that you're setting movie start to = the leading edge of the frame).
    2. Write down that timecode number (or copy it to the buffer). DO NOT MOVE THE SPL or do anything else at this point other than...
    3. Open your audio reference file. Your cue file will go to the background.
Scroll to that location in that song (or copy the timecode location into Logic's locator from the value you copied into the buffer and hit RETURN). Rock the bits value IN THE LOCATOR (not movie start) to ensure that you're at the leading edge of that frame. Click on (select) the extracted audio region and SMPTE-unlock it if you've locked it previously. Use the SPLIT REGIONS by SONG POSITION command to cut the file.
    4. Select the part of the file to the right of the cut and CMD-C copy. Close your audio reference (save it if you want, cuz if you mess up you won't have to do the whole thing over again).
    5. With that song closed you will now be seeing your actual cue song file. Select a new audio track and CMD-V paste.

  • Start time error in EC50E (Move-in creation)

    Dear all,
We are working on ISU Upgrade project, earlier ISU version was 4.6c and now we are moving to ECC 6.
Now while integration testing in ECC 6, we are facing a error (message) while creating a move-in (EC50E)for a given BP on Premise level. This occurs only when BP has Communication details populated (like phone, email etc).
Message "For start times, the time 00:00:00 has to be transmitted, not 00:00:0
Message no. AM615" appears with green tick when value for all the required fields are already provided and we try to save to complete move-in. it doesn't allows to do any further proccessing also. Also on Addresses Tab of EC50E if you press enter the same message is display blocking all further process.
message is of class AM and message no is 615
if communication details are not present at BP level move-in gets saved and created correctly. Earlier version has no such issue when same testing data set is used.
    Awaiting your valuable inputs

SAP Note 981691works for it (also check for related notes mentioned)

  • Start/stop QT movie multiple times on same slide

    hi all,
is it possible to start/pause, start/pause a QT mov multiple times on the same slide without going on t the next slide?
    thx!

It's possible if you have cursor control (that is, if you are not using a remote, but using the mouse). Hover the cursor over the movie, and you will see controls pop up at the bottom. You can use these to pause, replay, etc.

  • Quick Time Movies start halting after 20 minutes

I have a lot of movies in my presentations, most 30 minutes or so. After 20 minutes the Quick Time movies start halting, as if there's only 10 frames per second played, audio has no problem. The movies are made in FCP and exported as Quick Time movies. Anybody else has the same problem?

I found out that if you stretch the moviescreen too much Quick Time can't handle it any more ( stretching and playing) and after about 20 minutes it starts halting ( as if it only plays 10 frames per second).
I play the movies on a big screen with 500 x400 pix, that works fine!

  • Sound.Play() start time not consistent

When I play an audio and give it a start time, eg sound.play(3366), it doesn't always play at that position.  I'm working on an application that is dependent on the soundChannel position, but after I start the sound, it sometimes doesn't start at the exact position I tell it too.  Sometimes the position starts at something like 3365.986394557823. I found a workaround of just using Math.ceil, but I still wonder why the position isn't true to the start parameter.  Anyone know why that is?

yes?? The song is Paper Walls by Yellowcard. You can listen to it yourself, but to explain it they play this intro of the song (which I dislike) and then it pauses for a couple of seconds and then the actual song starts. listen to the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjENnmGf-Jc

  • How to set a specific starting time for the falling snow code snippet

    Hi everyone
I want to use the falling snow code snipet but I don't want it it to start as soon the movie starts.
So how to set a specific time to start the falling snow?
    Thanks
    Patricia

put the code (that's not in a function body and excluding variable declarations and import statements) in a function body and call it using the timer class.

  • Does anyone know how to set the starting time for an audio book?

I am trying to restart a burn in iTunes that failed for an audiobook. I need to set the start time so it will not have to reburn the disks that were already completed. I cannot find out how to do that in version 11 if the book consists of more than one file. Anyone have an idea how to do this? Apple wants me to pay $20 for something that should be in the help menu.

    UCCX 5.0(2)SR02 is the version
I attached a screenshot of what I am trying to use but I am not sure what to put as the value?  I tried using "now" and "null" but no success.

  • Movie start points in a session

In addition to my previous post, i have a problem with Movie start points and tempo changes as well. Please correct me if i am wrong but in Logic 7 it was possible to set a movie smpte point (say 10.20.17.22) as Bar 1 of the arrangement thus meaning you could write a piece for a 2 min extract of movie without having to lay the whole movie in place and skip to the point you were writing for (after all, that is the sole point of having a SMPTE time start function). In 7, when a tempo change or curve was applied, the arrange would take the SMPTE set at bar 1 as the start of the movie and thus the movie would not slip (i.e 10.20.17.22 = bar 1 period). However, trying to achieve the same function in Logic 8 doesn't seem to work. Any tempo changes to an arrangement slips the whole movie against the time line regardless of bar 1 position, it seems that Logic is taking into account the negative bars at the start of the arrangement (i.e @120bpm bar 1 = 10.20.17.22 but @140bpm bar 1 would become a different SMPTE point in the movie). I am slightly worried by this problem as it is one of the main functions i carry out professionally. If i can't a) write to picture accurately and b)change tempo without slipping an entire movie file then the whole function seems a bit of a waste of time.

Select all songs in the list, do Get Info, look at the bottom of the window and set Remember Position to No. Say OK.

  • How to edit the starting time for clips in properties?

    Hello there ,
I’m testing the CS5 Audition right now and find it great except for one thing:
In the properties for each clip there is a starting time. But it just can’t be edited!
I can change the starting time of the whole session – yes.
But not the ones of the individual clips. Only by moving them around and that is not very precise.
Is there a way to edit this starting times for the clips by typing in numbers?
    Thank you :).

    AAUser777 wrote:
    But wasn't that easier before?
Do I have to save any time I make a change?
As far as I'm aware, you've always had to save changes to metadata to make them permanent!
    One more please:
Can't I group Clips and move them together anymore?
    One more thing please:
Many people say that CS5 is worse than 3.
Why are all those people bothered?
No you can't group clips in CS5.5. And the reason that a lot of people are bothered is - because you can't group clips in CS5.5.
There are a few other reasons cited too, but I think that the lack of clip grouping may be at the top of the list, judging from the number of comments about it. If you look around the forum you will find a lot of discussion about this.

  • Changing Start time of Set Analysis

    Post Author: izhar
CA Forum: Performance Management and Dashboards
Hi all group members working on BOXI R2, I have to ask that, How to change the "Period Start" time for sets while creating it. The data i have in repository on previous years whereas while creating "set's application is picking up current date as a "Period Start" date.
Can anyone tell, how to change it so that i can view the data under the "Membership" tab of Set AnalysisRegards Izhar

Add it "Scaled" to a Selection (Edit menu).
Open the .png file, select all and Copy.
Switch to the video, create a selection (i and o keys set in/out points). You can move one frame at a time by using the arrow keys.

  • Change the start time of track 1

Hi, fairly new with waveburner but spent about 2 hours going through all the windows so i've got a good idea about the layout and where everything is.
Goal - to remove the 4 second silence at the beginning of the cd. There is a 2 second pause, and 2 seconds before the audio kicks in.
I recorded a dj mix and imported from logic into waveform. I made my track edits, titled all my tracks, added my efx and automation adjustments and just burned my master cd. After further review there is a 5 second delay before the first track.
I zoom into the timeline and it appears the audio sample is located and starts at 4 seconds. There is by default a 2 second pause for the first track. I have tried to change the start time on track 1, move the entire sample, and create a new track on the 5 second marker and delete the first track but i can't move get the first track to start at the 4 second point.
    Here is a screenshot - http://kennygrant.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kenny-screenshot.gif
totally frustrated as the file i bounced did not have a 4 seconds of silence, so i'm totally confused.

What I ended up doing John is just simply deleting the original events from iCal then I went in to Outlook and manually changed the start/stop times of each event then went into the IMAP Calendar folder, clicked on that event and added it to my iCal. Thats sort of the process I use for getting my events to from Exchange to iCal anyway (can't wait for Snow Leopard) but that did the trick for me for these few items that were off. Fortunately I don't expect any changes from the author.
    Thanks for responding!
