Movie thumbnails are blank on webpage but play okay

I am using iWeb 08 and am very pleased except for one thing. My movie thumbnails are blank. They have a little icon in the corner and they play okay but there is no picture (except on one of them)
Here's the link: http://web.mac.com/dregerfamily/Site/HomeMovies/HomeMovies.html
I have tried deleting them, making a new page, etc but still nothing. Please help.
Thanks!

Thanks! I realized the thumbnail was black because almost all of my movies started with a black screen. Your suggestion was perfect!!
One thing though, it seems like the movies load slower now. Could that have had any effect or am I just imagining it?
Thanks again.

• After importing photos from a digital camera the thumbnails are blank.

I purchased a new iMac a few months ago and had no problem with transferring (and viewing) my iPhoto library onto the new computer. However, now when I import photos from my iPhone or camera, the thumbnails are blanks (with little dotted lines around them). In order to view the picture I must double-click on the image. This makes it a difficult to locate photos! Help me please.

I just got the iPod Classic and I don't see anywhere in the manual that I can still do this. Is it still possible to import my photos from the camera to the iPod?
No, the new iPods do not have a camera adaptor able to do this. Why Apple have decided not to make a suitable adaptor available (the old one won't work with the Classic), I have no idea.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

• IPhoto thumbnails are blank, but maximized photo shows up.

I had to power of my iMac while iPhoto was uploading some photographs. When I turned it back on, iPhoto prompted me to restore the library. I said yes. Now the thumbnails aren't appearing, and when you double click a photo to maximize it, it briefly shows up with the grey yeild "!" icon and then the photo shows up, but the thumbnails are still grey. Is there a fix for this?

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #2, Rebuild Thumbnails.  It could take more than one pass to get the job done.

• Keynote video thumbnails are blank.

I have placed video clips into my slides, but the tiles are blank. How can I get a thumbnail scene to give me a visual representation of the video I'm about to play?  I've loaded the mp4 files into the library and then synced through the Photos tab in iTunes. I have inserted and sized them with the media option. They play fine, but there is no thumbnail visible on the slide, so I am shooting in the dark. Any suggestions?  Thanks

Are you trying to view Silverlight or WMV content? If so, you need the appropriate internet plugin: Silverlight or something called "Flip4Mac."

• Some input dialogs are blank - no cursor, but chrome ok - why?

I am trying to set dialogs in a JomSocial profile edit page. Some dialogs are editable, and others are blank and apparently don't accept input. When this is done using Chrome, there is no problem.

Can you try in safe mode?
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

• ATV2 Rented Movies: Can't Connect To Store, But Plays Using Preview...???

I recently rented the movies RED and Let Me In, opting to watch both later (thus hitting Menu rather than Play when each was queued and ready to play).
So I go to watch one of them, and I select the movie's icon where rentals get listed. The ATV2 then tells me "The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." Both movies give this error. I unplug, etc. etc., but that's all that happens.
So on a whim, I go to where you can view a preview and rent these flicks, and the Play button is enabled since I already rented them.
BOOM -- both movies play just fine. BUT, I still cannot play them from the main screen's interface, as it still gives me the "unavailable" error.
Anyone have any ideas about what's going on with this?

No, that's not all that matters.
you got to watch the movies that you paid for though, so at the end of the day you haven't lost out on anything.
there may be an issue somewhere with the itunes store, thus the error you are seeing.
one piece of advice though would be to not rent 2 movies at the same time. as you might find that 1 starts to overwrite the other in the temporary cache storage, and you would need to re-download it again.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

• Thumbnails are blank when opening a new tab.

I have tried all the suggestions to get the graphics to show in the thumbnails when I open a new tab. Nothing changes. The panels are there for the thumbnail, the name of the website shows, but there is no graphic or "picture" of the page in the thumbnail. They show up on all my other pcs, and my iMac, but not on this laptop.

This question was asked here also, hope it helps!

• New tab page thumbnails are blank - always blank

I've updated to FF 13.0 (Linux) and was keen to have a look at the Opera-like tthumbnails when opening a new page from the tab bar.
I open the page that should have small renderings of recently visited sites and I'm presented with empty squares with text labels to indicate what page they link to.
I've tried the "click on the blank square and wait for the page to completely load solution but that doesn't work.
What should I try next?

I was having this issue too. Changing my privacy settings allowed the thumbnails to appear.
# Go to Edit > Preferences > Privacy.
# Under Privacy there's a checkbox for Clear history when Firefox closes and to the right a Settings button.
# Click the Settings button and uncheck Browsing History and Cache.
# Restart FF.
# The thumbnails appear after you revisit sites.
The text "Clear history when Firefox closes" seems misleading, since it is affecting behavior before FF closes. I guess these setting aren't just for clearing history but writing history too. Is that a bug? I'm on Ubuntu with FF 13.0.1.

• Some video files only display a blank black screen but plays audio

I am having a problem playing some of my videos in iTunes. After an update, some of my video files play and others do not. They are all in mpeg-4 video format so I don't know that is the difference except the videos that are not playing are larger files and different sizes than the ones playing. The shorter videos play fine and are 480x320 H.264 Codec but the larger files are 640x352, MPEG-4 Codec. Any ideas? My quicktime is up to date and I'm using iTunes 9.1 (79). Before updates I was able to view the videos without a problem and I cannot remember exactly which update caused the problem but I always update...so it is probably the last update.
I tried playing the video files in quicktime but now it says that quicktime maybe needs another component to play this video. It is strange because before updating I could watch the videos without a problem. Any ideas as to what has happened?

For the Quicktime issue try:
[Perian codecs for Quicktime|http://www.perian.org] - plugins to add functionality to Quicktime for playing additional audio and video formats
[Quicktime audio problems, Perian, VLC|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9013669] - read note about uninstalling prior DIVX support before installing Perian.
I'm not sure if this works with iTunes. I don't use itunes to watch video, I use [VLC media player|http://www.videolan.org/vlc> - general media player that plays just about anything.

• Ff4 tab group/panorama thumbnails are blank and I can't get to my tab sets!

I have four app tabs and then five sets of tabs. I opened FF with these groups. When I click the tab group icon, it brings up my groups. Each page in each group is blank. Until I click on it, there is no label. When I click, a white box comes up then contracts, back in to place. When it's back in place, the page title is listed, but the 'preview' is missing.
In no case can I get to a page that's not in the primary group.
I switched to FF4 so I wouldn't use my tabs, yet here I am losing tabs again.
Help

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
If the problem is gone;
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager.
Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions.
Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause
Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until
the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue.
Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the
others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective

• Some Songs are not on iTunes but play on my iPod! HELP!

I have lost random songs of iTunes and it says it can nt locate the song file. But i can play all my songs on my iPod! Please help as i need to listen to my songs though my computer! Thanks!

I've had that problem, too ><; Check your iTunes...Did it make duplicates of certain songs as well? That's what happened to me: I lost random songs because they were replaced with other songs, so I got duplicates O_o;

• Some app thumbnails are blank

How can I get the picture back in the thumbnail that has gone blank on the main menu page?

I don't have the answer, I just have the same problem (I think) your linked screen is all black. I have white icons, that have no description. They used to be fine. It seems like it was the 4.2 update if you ask me. they used to be fine. I was hoping to find an answer here too.

• MPEG-2 file with AC3 5.1 audio: no audio (neither in current video playback, nor after encode), but plays okay in QuickTime X

Mavericks 10.9.3
Latest Mac Mini, 8GB RAM, two 256GB SSD
Compressor 4.1.1
I have an MPEG-2 file with AC3 5.1 audio which plays in QuickTime X as expected.
I have a second MacBook Pro with Compressor 4.1.1, where the audio is fine - both as current video playback of the source, and post-encode using Apple Devices HD (best quality) setting.
However in the Mac Mini Compressor there is no audio (neither in current video playback of the source, nor after encode using Apple Devices HD (best quality) setting).
Troubleshooting
- main difference between machines is the Mac Mini has Elgato software (EyeTV and Game Capture HD)
- I've checked the QuickTime components are same on both machines, except for EyeTV audio component on Mac Mini
- there are no plug-in audio components
- I've repaired permissions using Disk Utility
- I moved Compressor to trash, deleted compressor plist files, and reinstalled
