Movie to TV Show disappears

This week I upgraded to iOS5 on my iPad1 and iTunes 10.5 on Windows.  I have iTunes set for me to manually manage my music and movies.
If I copy an *.mp4 file to the iPad, as before it shows up as a movie and plays fine on the iPad.  But episodes of a tv show all show up individually when left as a movie.  If I change the media kind to TV Show, things look fine on iTunes, but on the iPad when I switch to the TV Show listing, the episode is gone.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

I swear I searched before I posted and came up empty.  But after posting, the "More Like This" area had some relevant posts.  In one thread, the OP had suggested that he could do a search and find the tv show even though it wasn't listed when he browsed the video app.
I just tried searching, and found my missing tv shows.  When I attempt to play any episode, I can see that the metadata tags have become hosed.  For instance, when attempting to play one of the episodes, it actually brings up the movie summary screen, with the following metadata
- on the title line it says:  (null), Season 6
- Length, Domensions, and Size are all correct
- Released: Unknown (which is probably correct)
- Codecs: -
I'm thinking that the metadata that the video application uses to present tv show information has gotten screwed up.  I have yet to successfully add a tv show since moving to iOS5 and iTunes 10.5.  I don't know whether this is an iTunes problem or an iOS problem, but one or the other is just messing up the metadata.
For now, I'll just leave the episodes as movies until Apple figures out there's a problem...

  • Anyone missing Movies and TV Shows menus during nor'easter?

When I first woke up the Apple TV today (installed latest version of OS yesterday: iOS 4.4), all main menus were present. Suddenly movies and TV Shows disappeared and all that works is Internet (but I can't get past YouTube), Computer, and settings.
Anyone else?  Did Apple's TV server go down?

    Excellent! Thanks!
As far as I'm concerned Apple TV is not a device, but a service and should be supported for its lifetime.

  • Movies and TV shows sync with Itunes. TV shows disappear.

    OK-
PLEASE be gentle. I am, new to the Ipad3 and even newer to Apple/Itunes in general.
I have a TON of TV shows that i already personally own. I want to load these on my Ipad. OK, seems simple enough. NOPE.
If i just drag them over to the "MOVIES" tab under my device in Itunes, the shows load fine and I can watch them on my Ipad. However, The Ipad will only play 1 title and then stop. Thats pretty stupid, especially because I am using the Ipad on a business trip hooked up to my hotel TV for when i go to sleep. I have to get up every 20 minutes ti press play again.
So i read a tutorial to highlight all of the TV Shows and RIGHT click them and change them (meida kind) from movie to "tv show." Great, i do that, they change to TV SHOWS and they show up in Itunes under my device, under TV shows. BUT- where the heck are these TV shows on my IPAD?? I click "VIDEOS" and all i get are the MOVIES that i uploaded to the ipad. I do NOT see any of the TV shows. Where the HECK to i go to watch TV shows on the IPAD???
Thanks in advance for any help. And remember, please be gente. Dumb this down to a lifetime Microsoft user. lol.
    -Marc

    Hi Johnathan-
I appreciate your reply. Thank You.
I *dont* have another category under videos.
When I click the "VIDEOS" icon on the main screen, It just brings me to a list of my movies. There is no other option other than VIDEOS. I see *no* "TV shows" option anywhere.
Am i really THIS dumb? and why does Itunes have Soooooo many freaking restrictions? Itunes alone is making me regret the purchase and return the Ipad. Every time i plug this thing in somewhere Itunes warns me that it is going to sync and erase whats on my ipad with whats on my computer (or vice versa). Its getting a little silly.
Anyway, for the life of me, I can not get this thing to recognize TV SHOWS. If i load the TV shows into the MOVIES folder, fine. all is great. TV shows show up and i can play them. but when the TV shows go into the TV shows tab they disappear.

  • Personal video and movies no longer showing after Apple TV Update

Since I updated my Apple TV (second gen), all my personal videos seem to have vanished. This includes videos I may have created and/or digitized myself that are present in iTunes on my Mac. Now all I see are movies I purchased thorugh iTunes. I am connecting via my lcoal network to my Mac.
How do I get all my video to show again as it did with the last version of the software?

I believe it depends on licensing rights for movies which rotate from time to time. For example you can usually predict what movies are going to disappear based on their premiering (or re-premiering) on cable channels. My guess is that whatever movies you had on your wishlist probably just premiered on HBO or one of the pay cable channels. Eventually their licensing rights will expire and the movie will return to ATV.

  • Loosing Sync Purchased Movies and TV Shows (ATV 2.4 & iTunes 8.2.1 )

Had my 160gb ATV for about 6 months now with now problems. Have my entire audio library synced, movies, tv, shows etc. All my music is DRM free. All my TV shows are purchased from Apple. My movies are a mixture of ones purchased from apple and some of my converted DVD's via handbrake. Music videos from apple.
Within the last day, my ATV isn't showing all my movie and tv shows I've purchased.
About 2 weeks ago, my ATV upgraded to 2.4 (I do have the latest Boxee running on it). And earlier this week, I upgraded my PC with iTunes to 8.2.1.
Now shows just started disappearing from the ATV.
I "disconnected" my ATV from my PC with iTunes (of course I rebooted both my PC (WinXP) and ATV).
Next I reconnected my ATV to my PC with my iTunes libaray. It is going through a long resynch process.
But it still looks like it is only resynching certain items. Music all look OK (all drm free). Music videos moving over. Only some movies and no TV shows (again).
One thing I noticed is that all none DRM items seem to be resynching. Also DRM items that have Fairplay 2 seem to be resynching. But anything that has fairplay 3 doesn't seem to be moving to the ATV.
I just purchased season 2 of burn notice. It downloads to my PC OK, but none of these new shows are syncing to the ATV either.
Could it be something with particular versions of fairplay?
    Any other suggestions?
This is killing me, as I was trying to catch up on some TV shows this summer.
    Thanks
    Greg

Oh alright -- I manage to resolve my own stupidity quite abruptly, actually.
Shortly after posting this, I annoying took another gander at iTunes Store settings. To my own idiocy, I must have unchecked "Show iTunes purchases in the cloud" at some point. In my defense, though, the availability of songs in iCloud threw me off quite a lot.
Ha ha -- anyways, if anyone else is having the same problem, check there.

  • Movies do not show up on AppleTV but they are in iTunes

I have around 220 movies in iTunes.  Most all were purchased through Apple.  I am having an issue where several of my movies are not showing up on my Apple TV.  The movies that do not show up were all purchased and watched on my Apple TV but once it synced to my iTunes library they no longer show up.. I have reset and restored everything including my entire iTunes library, took almost an entire day, but still have the same issue.  My apple TV is a 1st gen. The ones that do not show up are a mix between HD and SD so that is not the issue.  The only common thread between these movies is that they were all purchased and watched initially through my apple TV. HELP please!

As far as the resolution, I do not have the exact info but they were all purchased through iTunes via my AppleTV.
    Examples:
    - Journey to the Center of the Earth HD and SD
    - Tranformers HD and SD
    - Journey 2: The Mysterious Island SD
    - Sherlock Holmes SD
Thats just a few of the movies that do not show up on my AppleTV but are in iTunes and can be played on my Laptop or synced to my iPad, iPod, iPhone and iTouch.
I have tried syncing these movies to my AppleTV and it shows syncing but completes way too quickly and the movies are not on my AppleTV.  When I look at my AppleTV via iTunes the movies are checked off so as to sync.  No exclamation point or any error for that matter ever occurs.

  • When I click on any of my movie or TV shows in Itunes I immediately get an error message that says Itunes has stopped working and closes the program. I can sync the movies and shows to my phone okay but I can't watch on Itunes. Can anyone help?

  • My Apple TV is no longer showing any of my purchased movies or TV shows

My Apple TV is not showing any of the movies or TV shows that I purchased.  They used to be there under the "Purchased" section of movies and TV shows, but now the list is empty.  How can I get them to show up again?

    Hey taraannie,
You may want to make sure that your device is still associated with your Apple ID:
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
You may want to also sign out of your Apple ID in the settings of your Apple TV, then sign back in to make sure that you are connected with your Apple ID. Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes somehow thinks that 2 computers equals 5 and I can't authorize my movies and TV shows because of it.  What should I do?

I tried authorizing movies and TV shows on my new iMac that I have authorized on one or two computers/devices total, but when I click to authorize, it says that they've already been authorized on 5 computers.  It's quite a bother, and I can't even find how to contact Apple directly to be able to complain to them about their problem.  What should I do?

It is possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."
If that does not fix it for you, you can "deauthorize all" your computers. This will solve your problem, but you may only do this once per year.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.

  • Iphone 6 tells me that "Item not available" in my country UK, when i click on the itunes store icon for the app to open the music, movies or tv shows section of the app. is this a bug?

I am based in the UK and have just got a new iphone 6, everything works well except when i try to turn on the itunes store app -  i can do a search and buy music etc that way, within the app, however, if i go to Music, Movies or the TV shows section within the Store app, i get a message come up saying "Item Not Available" - This item you've requested is not currently available in the UK Store, but it is available in the US store. Tap Change Store to view this item".   I therefore cannot browse the music, movies or tv shows sections at all, nothing shows up except that message.  All my previous itunes purchases have downloaded ok, and i can access them. My apple ID works fine and restrictions on the iphone are turned OFF. The App Store app works normally. Connection etc is all fine and I can access itunes  in the normal way on my ipad and laptop, so this is just an iphone problem. Any ideas? is this a bug? I cant find anyone else with exactly the same problem. By the way, the same message comes up when i click on the red Music icon, on the iphone (situated next to the Safari icon) and then go to the "Store" via that app.  my playlists are in tact, but as soon as i click that Store button, I am told that the Item is unavailable - not that i have chosen any Item lol, I just want to access the store in the normal way. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can give

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • Purchased movies and tv shows won't show up in iTunes on my Macbook Air

So, I have recently begun purchasing movies and TV shows through iTunes in an attempt to further enrich my Apple ecosystem (and to have awesome movies to watch on a 5.5" screen ). I have had mixed experiences with this transition and am still having issues. For example, my Apple TV worked fine with all my purchases instantly -- no problem there. My Mac Mini takes a bit but it sorts itself out in no time. My iPhone 6 Plus, however, has failed at showing new purchases in the cloud in the videos app (for example, I purchased Doctor Who Series 8 and wanted to watch an episode the other day but was disappointed to find out that it wasn't available in the cloud). My Macbook Air though.. absolutely no movies or tv shows show up in iTunes. I can download them from the purchased section of the iTunes store, but at 2-3 GBs an episode, and the limited memory of a Macbook, I have only condoned a desire to stream them through iCloud.
Yet I can't figure it out. Why aren't my shows and movies showing up at all in iTunes? All of my iTunes match songs show up just fine. I have checked and nothing is hidden, so I am literally stumped.
If anyone could help me understand why, that would be great. And if anybody knows what is going on with my iPhone's video app, that would be awesome too.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dylan

  • Can not transfer Movies or TV Shows from iTunes to Apple TV any more

    Hi,
I've been having syncing problems lately, but this latest one I can't solve. My iMac is running 10.6.3 with iTunes 9.1.1 (11). When I sync between the Mac and the Apple TV, everything (music, photos, podcasts, playlists) gets copied except movies and TV shows I've purchased through iTunes.
I've tried automatic sync, custom sync with the movies and TV shows selected. I've tried 'Transfer Purchases', but all I ever get is the "Syncing Apple TV" message with the 'busy' bar, and no actual progress.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try? I've been through the solutions in this forum already, and nothing has worked

  • As of the Yosemite upgrade, I can't watch movies or tv shows using iTunes or Safari.

As of Yosemite upgrade, I can't watch any movies or tv shows using iTunes or Safari.  I have not previously had this problem before, and I have not changed anything with the monitor.  Here is what I get...  (This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP)  However, I can still watch Netflix using Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, but not with Safari.   (Using a Mini Mac with an LG Monitor Display)  Using HDMI to DVI Apple adapter.  I also tried a straight HDMI cable connection, which made no difference. My Apple TV plays just fine on this monitor.  LG Monitor Model #DM2350D

Never mind i guess. The iTunes parental controls changed randomly to restricted certain ratings even though i've never touched those in my life. fix your **** apple.

  • How do I add movies or TV shows in iTunes? HELP !!!

I am a newbie for iTunes. I got my iPhone a few weeks ago. I have trouble adding TV shows / movies into my iTunes and thus into my iPhone. I just download the iTunes software on my windows 7
    Problem one;
My iTunes showed this weird notification as I click TV Shows. It showed
    TV Shows
The TV shows you download from iTunes will be appear in your iTunes library .....
The thing is I COULDN'T add any files into the TV shows library... WHY?
    Same goes to movies.
It shows notifications and I tried to add a movie into the library but failed.
    problem two;
I cannot get album artwork from iTunes. I clicked the advanced button on the tab. But it says no artwork found...
PLEASE HELP ME OUT! I REALLY WANTED MOVIES, TV SHOWS AND ALBUM ARTWORK IN MY LOVELY IPHONE 4
    thanks

What movies and tv shows are you trying to add?
Where did you get the movies and tv shows?

  • No sound when watching full-screen movies or TV shows in iTunes after update to 11.1

After updating to iTunes 11.1, any full-screen movies or TV shows I try to play on my Thunderbolt display with my MacBook Pro have no audio. If I plug in speakers or headphones, I get audio, just not from the Thunderbolt display. Audio works fine from MBP.
Weird thing is, if I plug in other speakers or headphones and then *unplug* them, the Thunderbolt display's speakers start working again. Every time you start a new show or movie, though, you have to do this again after the full-screen video opens on the display.
Really weird. I obviously suspect i has something to do with the 11.1 update to iTunes 'cause audio works just fine through the display for iTunes music and other content and for the web and all other apps and games, whether they're in full-screen mode or not.
Keep checking Software Update hoping to see that "1" badge pop up on the App Store, lol.
    Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks allen222! I've been banging my head against this issue as well - glad to hear it's fixed in Mavericks - was planning to upgrade shortly.
