Movie Tools Convert to MP3 Error
I've been using the convert to MP3 movie tool regularly for 5 or 6 months to flatten the .mov file recordings I get from my skype call recorder program. Recently, the converter has been giving me the following errors for no apparent reason (NOTE: these were in separate pop-up windows)
"Sorry. There was an error trying to convert the file. File Macintosh HD:private:var.folders:sQ:sQu-28IJFAmlvC6ylNRsKE+TI:-Tmp-:-Tmp-:pathToFile wasn't found."
"Cannot Create MP3
Error:MP3 file was not created.
Error: -36"
Looking for a fix/recommendation to get it working again!
Thanks - Daryl
Began happening after years of use. Could it be related to an iTunes update?
Anyone found a workaround?

Convert to mp3 error --help!
I have aif and aifc files in my iTunes library that I created in a voice recording app on my iPod Touch. I want to convert them to mp3. However, when I right-click the aif/aifc files in the iTunes library and choose "Create mp3 version" it gives me this error: "Error occurred while converting the file. The disk could not be read from or written to." I have tried several of these files and all do the same thing. How do I resolve this??? THANKS!!!!
I personally do not know of any program that will test for corruption but usually if it is corrupt (Not in all cases but some) they will play in windows media player/winamp but you will notice a loud pop, scraching sounds, in short just what i call "Garbage" noise and the beginning or end of the song.
If they are corrupt, it could of been caused by anything. Could of been a program on the system that damaged them, could be on a bad sector on the harddrive, malware could of caused it ect ect the list goes on and on.
Since you say you have an ipod, the short way of fixing it (Long as there on ipod and play) is to just delete them all, clear there listing in iTUnes, then use a third party program to copy them from iPod like yamipod (Recommened by most here and free) http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ and reading this artivcal at iLounge (They talk about a shareware program PodUtil but you can use the trail version for free to do a basic copy and have it list them in iTunes) http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/ -
Unknown error when converting to mp3
I am trying to convert a track I just downloaded from the itunes store to an mp3. I have done this many times and I know how to do it. Except now when I select to convert to mp3, I get "Itunes Unknown Error (-3)". When I try to convert to one of the other options, it just gives me the first 15 seconds. But what I really need is the mp3.
StefanI too have been getting this error when attempting to convert a newly purchased song to mp3. This has only started happnning recently in iTunes 10.6.3.25. It turns out that this happens when the newly purchased songs are not complete. The real problem seems to be with downloading new songs form iTunes Store. iTunes reports a successful and complete download, but when I go to play the song, only 30 seconds to a minute of audio exist. It has been occurring so frequently, that I will not purchase another song until the problem is fixed.

I have two pictures in expert mode in editor. I go to "Move tool", click on picture but I am unable to move and drop in second picture. I do not get the dashed lines around the picture, and if I move cursor to
move picture, I get the following message " This operation cannot be performed on the locked background layer. Do you want to convert the locked background layer into an editable layer?" I have no idea
what I need to check or uncheck to make it work., I am following a lesson plan in a "Infinite Skills" training course. I talked to them, but was unable to come up with a answer. Help, please I have been
trying to do this move for over a week. tks rdfWe don't know whether this tutorial was written for Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, more specifically for which version of PSE. There are differences. Be sure to have the layers palette open.
Try this instead
Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.
To unlock the background layer, double click on it in the layers palette. Perhaps your tutorial will guide you through the process. -
iTunes 11 is rapidly becoming a disaster for me. I have a dedicated Windows 7 machine running iTunes to service 3 Apple TV's, 2iPhones, 2iPods, and an iPad. Itunes 11 is very sluggish with my large library and has now started 'losing' files to the cloud. This means that music I purchased in 2005 is being removed from my library and subsequently seems to become available as a ne cloud download. This may well be because I convert all ACC files to MP3 and delete the ACC (my ears are too old to care about the reduction in quality). Either way, it's detrsoying my playlists and means I have to re-download files.
Does anyone know how to stop this? I have no interest in the cloud (my library is too big and contains hundreds of ripped CD's and Vinyl records that can't be matched).
ThanksBecause back in the early days very few devices supported AAC so converting to MP3 allowed me to use iTunes and other devices (like a $1000 dollar MP3 player with a 3.5" hard disk drive that pre-dated iPods ) as well as my gen 1 and 2 iPods. I can't hear the difference (I'm old...) so the files being smaller is still an advantage (even though I have 64Gb iPods and iPhones these days. Anyway, the major issue is iTunes deleting the MP3's and messing up my playlists because the file it downloads just goes in the library - not the original playlists. The secondary issue is how do I know it's truly replacing all the files it deletes. It's just scary and I don't like it.
BTW, I'm not anti-cloud and in fact use iCloud extensively with my iPhones/Apple TV's for photo sharing/backups but iCloud is useless for media sharing. I have just over 2tb of media data shared on my iTunes server (and remotely accessible on my iPhone/iPad using WebDav to my home server).
...and none of my media is pirated. I have crates of vinyl, CD's,DVD's, and Blu-Rays along with thousands of iTunes store receipts! -
Adobe Photoshop CS4/5 Crashes when using the Move Tool
Hello. I'm here because I'm having an issue with Photoshop.
I was trying out CS5 when it started to crash every time I tried to use the Move Tool. It was the generic error message: "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working.
A problem has caused Adobe Photoshop CS4 to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Thinking that it was a CS5 issue, I went back to my copy of CS4, only to find the same thing happening there (I also downgraded because CS5 was also crashing at other random times for some reason, but that's an issue for another time).
This puzzles me because both were working fine before. Granted, I hadn't opened them for a while, but it was a sudden thing.
My first impulse was to uninstall and reinstall CS4. No luck. So then, I uninstalled all third-party plugins, thinking that might be it. Still, the same problem. I started looking around on Google for solutions and found the instructions on resetting the Tool preferences (I chose to reset the preferences for ALL of the tools). When that didn't work, I tried deleting the preferences file outright, which said instructions recommended. Nothing.
I should note that Photoshop crashes when using the Move Tool to move an object without ant lines around it, i.e., a layer. I'll move the object, and after two to three seconds, the mentioned error message will appear and Windows will close Photoshop. This, however, only seems to happen after selecting, copying, and pasting part of a large object with some variation of the Marqee Tool (thus making that part a new layer by default) while working at a zoom of 100%. So, in short, working with a large image like <a href=http://www.wallpaper4me.com/images/wallpapers/ergo_proxy_267_1280-862301.jpeg>This</a> at 100% zoom. The image linked is the image that I was using and am currently using to reproduce the problem. It is 1280x1024 pixels. I have tested this with somewhat smaller, yet comparable images too. Same problem. I have never had this problem working with large images before, and I wonder if anyone has any suggestions short of formatting my hard drive.

Photoshop Version: CS4 Extended 11.0.2Even a decent RAM upgrade is usually only a few hundred dollars nowadays, but it's not a trivially simple process. That said, with a little research and care you can do it. Alternatively, you can hire people (e.g., "Geek Squad") to do such an upgrade.
First, you'll need to know what your operating system capacity is. For example, a 32 bit Windows system can really only use up to a bit more than 3 GB of RAM, while a 64 bit Windows system can use all the RAM you can find a place to plug in. What version of Windows are you running?
Then you'll need to determine what RAM you have installed and what your computer's maximum RAM capacity is - usually you can do this through internet research, either by visiting your computer manufacturer's web site or doing google searches. There are even RAM manufacturer web sites that will tell you what kind of RAM your computer needs and suggest sources, for example:
http://www.kingston.com/
It may be that you can just plug additional chips into currently empty sockets, or it is possible you'll need to replace the RAM chips you have installed in your computer to make room for an upgrade. Every computer is different.
If you list your computer model and current RAM that you have installed here, it may be that someone can help with more specific advice.

Adobe Photoshop cs6 problem - it closes after ''move tool'' button
After I push Move Tool button I cannot use any of the buttons bellow in that tool bar, when I try any button after it on closes the program with windows error ''adobe photoshop cs6 has stopped working''
os: win 7 64bits.
other adobe installed : adobe dreamweaver cs6OK, it seems to have been narrowed down to the video driver, or to its settings.
What make and model video card do you have?
What is the number and date of the installed driver?
For OpenGL, what are your performance settings?

Photoshop CS4 Crashes when using shift and the move tool
Please help!
Everytime I click on a layer with the move tool while holding the shift button (so I can constrain the movement), photoshop crashes. I get a message that says, "Could not use the move tool because of a program error". And then photoshop just shuts down.
Now I can use the move tool without holding shift, but as soon as I hit the shift button and try them together . . . crash!
What is going on?
I'm wondering if it has something to do with an updated video driver that I installed yesterday. It wasn't doing this before that.
Suggestions anyone? Please Please Please Help!Have you tried rolling back the driver to see if the fault disappears?
You could also try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
(A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.) -
CS5 keeps crashing when using the move tool
Hi there
This issue is intermitent, sometimes I can work with Photoshop for a whole day without any issues. However, this morning and other times, when I try to do a simple task, Photoshop just crashes instantly.
For example, the latest crash happened with I did the following:
1. Opened up a JPEG file with a file size of 258kb, nothing out of the ordinary.
2. Opened a new document, with the dimensions 1280x1024
3. Copied the JPEG image.
4. Pasted the JPEG image into the new blank document.
5. Ctrl+T to resize the image.
6. Click the move tool to move the image, and crash, "Photoshop has stopped responding...Sent Error Report" dialog box.
There is no other programs running, only Photoshop CS5, all Adobe products are updated.
Please if you could give me any guidence as to a way of fixing this asap, as I am currently not able to do any work.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
SteveHi Chris
I added a Photoshop exception to UltraMon like you said and I thought that fixed it, until today, I ran into the same issue.
I have attached the new crash dump, as before.
Let me know your thoughts, would be great if this can be solved
Cheers

Photoshop CC crashing on move tool
So I've recently downloaded the new CC stuff, most of which is AWESOME! ...However, now I've got a major problem. I try to use photoshop CC and it crashed EVERY single time I click the move tool, no matter what document I have open. I haven't been able to do much else with it to see if it crashes in other places or not. It crashes on both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
I have windows 7, 64 bit. I have an AMDHD 7700 graphics card and I also use the integrated Intel 2500 graphics for more monitors.
I have 16gb of ram. I have just updated both of my video card drivers to try and correct the problem, but it has not fixed the problem.
I also get the "Photoshop has detected an error in your display driver" when I go into the performance tab in preferences. I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I just thought I'd point that out.
I need some help. I've just un-installed my CS4 package and needless to say, photoshop is pretty useless without being able to use the move tool... I was going to pay for the plan to upgrade at the end of this month, but without photoshop working I'm not so sure.. Can anyone help me?Adobe link http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html#id_97496
Are you using more than one video card?
Multiple video adapters can cause problems with GPU-accelerated or enabled features in Photoshop. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model.
Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.
Note: Using more than one video adapter does not enhance Photoshop's performance -
Can't convert to MP3 with itunes music
I have downloaded some music but I am not able to convert my purchased itunes songs to MP3 so that I can put it into a personal movie maker project that I am doing. When I try to convert the song, I get this message: "Amazing Grace" could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats. How can I get this into my Windows Movie Maker?
Di5,
The protected tracks sold in the iTunes Music Store are not mp3s, and under the terms of the ITMS license cannot be legally converted to mp3 format. iTunes does not provide a way to do the conversion, and if you are a rocket scientist and figure it out, you would not (as Paul correctly notes) be allowed to discuss it in this Forum.
To get mp3s, you need to look elsewhere, such as (1) rip from CD (2) purchase from an online store that sells songs in mp3 format, such as audiolunchbox.com, or (3) purchase from an online store that allows format conversion. On the last item, puretracks.com states that "When Puretracks files are burned to a CD through Windows Media Player 9, these music CDs will be recognized and can be ripped by iTunes."
Hope this helps.

Move tool not working correctly, will not move individual layers only only groups.
Everytime I try to move a layer within a group it moves the entire group OR if it is not in a group it moves every single layer.
The only way this does not happen is if I use the transform tool to move. This stinks for work-flow.
Im not sure if I accidently made a change somewhere OR this is a bug ? Any fixes or suggestions?Move tool in what program?
This forum is actually about the Cloud, not about using individual programs
Once your program downloads and installs with no errors, you need the program forum
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll -
Anyone can teach me how to convert my MP3 song into Ringtone on my iPhone 5
Anyone could teach me how to convert my MP3 music in my iPhone 5 into Ringtone?
You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

So, I have recently been using the "convert to mp3" tool in iTunes, but sometimes there is a problem. I will try to change a whole album at a time, and some songs will, once converted, be shortened to 4:01. Even when the song is 6 minutes long or so, it will stop at 4:01. I can retry the conversion sometimes, and it will work perfectly, and other times it will ALWAYS cut it short. The reason I have been doing this was because it was the only solution to another problem I was having. New songs put in my library would play on my laptop, but not my ipod. If anyone can help with that, please tell me, but the conversion seemed to help. Until now :/
I don't know why this is happening, because the songs are much longer than 4:01, but they just stop at the time with some of the conversions.Export (now under the "Share" menu) your song to iTunes.
In the iTunes preferences (Advanced > Importing) select MP3 (at the bit rate of your choice, though MySpace may have file-size limits).
Then, in iTunes, select the AIFF of the the song you exported from GB, and choose "Convert to MP3" from the pull-down or contextual menu.
When uploading to MySpace, you'll have to drill down through your iTunes music folders to find the Artist>Album folder in which the MP3 is stored.
Shouldn't be too hard -- I've slung a few of my GarageBand recordings onto a Myspace page.
Cheers,
Carl
