Movie transfer between computers

Hi All,
I sometimes download rental movies from the itunes store to my intel imac, but then I want to transfer that movie to my mac mini which is hooked up to my flat screen. Is there an easy way to do it directly and within itunes? BTW, everything's wireless and authorized. Thanks, mj.

"Can I play my rental on more than one device?
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer."

I can see and play my husbands lirary and he can see and play mine but we can't transfer between computers.  How can we do that

Add another e-mail account to your messages, so people could reach you on that e-mail from messages. As soon as you are online (if you have wifi only iPad) you are able to send and receive messages. i.e. your son can send you a messages from his iPhone addressing it to your (that additional) e-mail address.

  • Aperture File Transfer between Computers.

How can I transfer files from the Aperture Library (or individual projects/folders/image files) from my field laptop (MacBook Pro) to my main Aperture Library, which is located on a 2 Terabyte Buffalo external hard drive connected by USB 2.0 to Aperture on my iMac Desktop. My computers communicate on a wireless network. I would like to make adjustments in Aperture on the laptop prior to transfer. Therefore, I need to preserve the XMP sidecar data along with the master file. On my wireless network, I can open the Picture folder on the laptop from my iMac. Is there a way to import the contents of the laptop Aperture Library directly into my active Aperture library on the iMac?

Thanks, RWB and WL. The program exporet, transfer, and import worked perfectly. Just had to turn Airport off on the laptop before importing the .approgram file into Aperture on the desktop, since I have used the same copy of Aperture on both computers. Apple license allows primary owner to install and register their copy of Aperture on 1 desktop and 1 laptop. However, Aperture cannot be active simultaneously on both computers on the same network, since Apple detects the same serial number and locks the .approgram file.

  • Move clips between computers

I have a desktop and laptop, and wish to be able to move clips and projects between the machines as i work on them.
Ideally i would like ot have them on my NAS but really struggling with the interface, i cannot even find a way to export anything unless its a project.
Problem is iwhile i am away i download to my laptop, but want to work on the projects on my desktop.
I am using version 10.0.1, which is confusing as i believe its the latest version but there is much on here about imovie 11!
I am fairly new to mac, and completely new to imovie,

The phrasing of your last sentence suggests you did not install FCE from a DVD. If you didn't it is highly likely that it is incorrectly installed.
If this is so, run http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm to completely remove all traces before reinstalling properly.

  • A droplet to move file between computers on different networks?

    Hey all!
I have a Mac Mini working as the media server for my TV. I use the same Mini to download all my torrents, since it's connected directly to my router.
I was wondering if anyone can think of a way to create a droplet (or something else with similar functionality) so that I can use my Macbook Pro remotely from work to initiate torrent downloads on my Mini at home. I understand how it'd be possible to do so with VNC, but I'm more interested in something simpler (like a droplet between my laptop and my Mini).
    Thanks geniuses!

The only seamless way to control your mac mini remotely would be to use screen sharing (VNC). The other way would be to use ssh to remotely log in, but that would only give you command-line accessibility to the Mac Mini. There may be a couple of other options, however.
For one, it sounds like you might want to initiate a torrent download remotely, using a torrent file that you have remotely. There are some torrent programs that have the ability to "watch" a given folder for new torrent files and then immediately start up the transfer when new torrents are detected in that folder. As such, you could share that folder and then access it remotely using AFP. All you'd need to know is your home ip address and then you'd use the command-K key sequence to "connect to" and then enter the ip address. After logging in you could then drag the torrent you ahve on your Macbook to the shared folder on your Mini and after the transfer the torrent program running on your Mini would automatically start up the transfer.
You could then make an alias on your Macbook of the mounted shared folder, so it will be easier to access in the future; however, this would require the ip address to be static (most home internet accounts dont have static ip addresses).

  • 'My Rating' Transfer Between Computers

    Good day...
I have a 20GB IPod and a 120GB of Tunes on a External Hard drive. This HD attached to two computers (work and home), I know that one of you will know how to keep 'My Rating' (Stars) up to date on both comuters? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

      Windows XP

There is no particularly easy way.
You can modify the registries on both machines to relocate your "My Music" folder to a location on the external hard drive as well. You can use TweakUI to do this a bit more easily.
This will force iTunes to put its library files in that new location on the drive. If you point this to the same location on both machines, then the library itself, ratings and all, will live on the external drive along with the music.
For this to work, the drive must have the same drive letter on both machines, meaning you need to manually assign it a drive letter if it's not already the same. And doing that will break the existing iTunes library locations as they currently are. Meaning that you may need to rebuild the library from scratch to do this.
You can use my SaveRatings script to keep the ratings when building a new library. You could also use it to just copy ratings between your home and work machines every so often, but that's more manual and it's a bit slow too.

  • Move files between computers

I have a new macbook air and a 5 year old iMac. I want to move some files from the iMac to the air. What's the easiest way to do it? I thought I could network the two together with my modem/router. They can see each other but file sharing doesn't seem to be working even though I'm trying to enable it. Do I need another piece of hardware such as an Airport base station?

    Thanks useless,
This would work, I think. I don't have the Thuderbolt/Firewire connection I would need, although I could buy the required converter.  I was hoping to do it wirelessly. Can I do the same thing wirelessly through my modem/router?

  • Move pictures between computers

How can i get older pictues from my mac book to my desktop?  Can I use an Ipod?

You can network the PowerBook and the Macbook with an ethernet cable. That's how I move most stuff among our five active Macs. See this for instructions on network file sharing:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1549
BTW, you have a PowerBook and a MacBook but your post ended up in teh forum for pre-2006 iMacs. I'll ask theHosts to move it to an appropriate forum.

  • File transfer between computers?

    1) When I transfer stuff by FireWire & Migration Assistant from one computer to another, does it all go in a folder, or is it scattered throughout the recipient computer?
I have not found this answer so far in Apple Support.
Also, there seem to be slightly differing instructions in Apple Support regarding how to transfer files this way.
This is to be just a temporary transfer while I change out (add) memory in my very-disturbed iMac.
    2) Does this process remove everything from my source computer, or does it just make a copy of it all?
    Thanks for the help.
    Txgrandmater

Migration Assistant transfers to the same location as the data reside on the other computer.  MA is not intended to be used as a way to sync files from one computer to another.  It also isn't a backup utility.  Given what you intend a better choice would be a backup utility that can transfer selected files and folders across a network connection.  Possible candidates are:
    1. Transfer the data manually by drag and drop.
    2. Deja Vu
    3. SilverKeeper
    4. Tri-Backup
    5. Synk (Standard or Pro)
Look for the above at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.

  • Album Information Transfer between Computers Elements 12

I have elements 12 installed on a new and old computer. I have re-imported the images into the organiser on the new computer and tag information has been transferred, but the Album structure has not. I have not changed the image storage area. They are in the same location on the same external hard drive.

    Re-importing is never the answer.
The answer is to use the Backup Catalog/Restore Catalog procedure

  • Keyword Sets - transfer between computers possible?

I have moved my Lightroom data from a PC to a new iMac - all is well except that the keyword sets on the PC have not been transferred to the iMac.  Any suggestions on how to do this?
    Thanks.

If johnbeardy's suggestion should not work either there is another workaround: export from your old catalog images which are tagged with all keywords (maybe create one such image artificially).
Then import-from-catalog, which will update your keyword list on your new machine with the ones coming along with the image, hierarchy of keywords included.

  • How do i move adobe licences between computers

I need to move adobe versions between computers, can I uninstall and re install on the computers I need using the same serial numbers?
Also Can I also have a record from adobe of what our organisation has purchased?

You will have to manually transfer the files from one computer to the other using whatever method is easiest for you. (network, DVD, CD, hard drive) Or, put files on network drive. That's what I do.

  • Suddenly slow transfer of files between computers over LAN

All, I have the following: HP Desktop, XP Pro, SP3, with Maxtor external HD Dell Laptop, VISTA Business, SP2 Both 32 bit Both running Norton Internet Security 2011, including firewall Linksys WRT54GL router V1.1, connected to DSL The external HD is configured to share over the network. I use it to move files between the twp computers, and to access the Internet. It has been working fine for about 3 years. Everything is still working, except that the speed of transfer, either direction, between the laptop and the external HD has dropped to nearly zero. Files that used to take a minute or so to transfer now literally take hours, and depending on the software, may time out. The problem is not so much the speed over the network, but that the data is only sent in short bursts, with long, many seconds, delays between. As the file progresses, the process gets worse. Typically, it takes as long to send the last 10 % as the first 90%. In the past, the data was sent in a continuous stream. The access between the laptop and the Internet is still fine. I am in a rural area, and have verified that there is no other WiFi to interfere. Using my backup program, I have rolled both my computers back to a time when everything was working. The problem still exists. That seems to point to the router. I have flashed the most recent firmware and reconfigured, but not help. Google turns up lots of hits, but nothing that fits this. Any suggestions on what to do next? For now, I am just swapping the USB drive physically. Alan

Try to reset the router and reconfigure it.
Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
Change the MTU size to 1365. Save the settings.
Go to Wireless tab and click on Advanced wireless settings. Change the Beacon Interval to 75, RTS and fragmentation threshold to 2304. Save the settings. Power cycle the router and see if that helps you.
Disable or turn OFF the firewall or Anti-virus software on your computer.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)
What am I doing wrong ?

  • How to transfer and share songs between computers and IPhone 4

Simple - sync with iTunes as you are supposed to.
