Movie With Chapters

I have designed a Flash movie for a client that, now that the
project is near completion, has asked for a menu to appear at the
end of the entire movie that would allow for a viewer to jump back
to the introduction or any other chapter (principle 1-principle 9).
I have placed frame labels as markers at the correct locations, but
my issue is this...
Is there a easier way to add the menu with buttons that would
jump to these specific sections within the movie without having to
copy and paste the whole movie twice. (Did that make sense?) Should
I copy the entire movie and paste everything into a movie clip and
then dump the movie clip back in a separate scene with the menu on
top of it?
One of my main concerns is to not add a tremendous amount of
additional space or file size by doubling the movie and all of its
frames. One issue that stopped me from just adding the navigation
menu to the entire movie is that they want the viewer to watch the
entire movie without the menu in order to reveal the menu so that
they can jump back to a specific section or chapter.
Here is a link to where I am at so far... and no laughing at
the content. I had nothing to do with it! In advance, thanks for
everyones help!

Why not add a button at the bottom that says "view menu" that
is always
visible. When a user clicks on menu, the menu pops-up or
slides in. Sample:

  • Can I create a submenu in a movie with chapters?

I have a 1 hour instructional movie with 9 chapters. I want to add dozens of submenus. I know how to go back to FCE and make chapters, but how do I make dozens of sub menus from within idvd??
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Bob
Just to mention so You not get confused. (often asked question)
If You make a movie with chapters iDVD will give a menu:
    - Play full movie + Chapters (on sub-menu)
But when You select say chapter 3 - it will play this and then continue
with Ch4 and to the end.
This is the way iDVD works !!! To just play a separate Chapter You either have
to usa another program like DVD-Studio pro (at a high cost).
    or
    a. import full movie (with no chapters
    b. import each chapter as an individual movie and put them on a sub-menu
And this is the only solutions.

  • QT Movie with Chapters manually added does not import into iDVD 7

I have read several threads regarding the use of Chapters in iMovie and iDVD version 7. Since I do not own any of the pro applications I decided to create a test QT Movie with manually added chapters as described in the QT Pro Manual. I was able to create the chapters and save the movie. However, when I dropped the movie into iDVD 7 no chapters were created. I checked the iDVD Prefs and the "create chapters" option is turned on. I have read that people have been able to drop movies with chapters using one of the pro applications, but I have also read that iDVD does not always correctly encode the chapters.
Has anyone had success adding QT Movies with manually created Chapters into iDVD7?

For what it's worth, I tried manually adding chapter markers to my movies in QT Pro using those same instructions - didn't work for me (iDVD didn't recognize the chapters).
I found another application called Metadata Hootenanny (free) that easily adds chapter markers. When I did that, iDVD recognized them and automatically added a chapters sub-menu when I imported the movie. This was all in iDVD '06.
I've tried this quickly in iDVD version 7 (imported the same chapter-embedded QT movie as above) and it did the same thing (automatically added chapters sub-menu). Hope this helps.

  • How to export movie with chapters?

I'm finished my editing, and I added chapters to my project in Final cut Pro X, how do I export my movie with the chapters included.

Wow I didn't even know there was an Updated version, I am using 10.0.5.
I also realize while I was watching a Youtube video, in the export box, the person export box looked different to mine, he had After export and Includes drop down arrows, and I have Video Codec, Audio file format, and Open with drop down arrow
is this a update I have to pay for? how can I update it?

  • Controlling QT Movie with Chapters in KN 3.0.1

Has anyone experimented with QT movies that have chapter markers in KN 3.0.1?
We would like to be able to select the various chapters of a given QT movie while it is playing in a KN show - ideally with the pull down menu that appears in the controls area of a QT movie (or something like it), presumably on the "operator" screen (i.e. not visible on the projected "show" screen)
I am aware this may be a tall order but even if we had the ability to just jump to the next chapter heading in the movie that would still be quite helpful.
I am aware that I could just cut the QT into separate movies and put them on individual slides but that would not edit from one video section to the next as instantaneously as simply jumping to the next chapter marker (whether by just using the "tab" key or something similar or by actually pulling down on a chapter menu somewhere on the presenter's screen.)
While I'm at it, shouldn't there be an easier (more Mac-like) way of putting chapters in a QT movie. The procedure outlined on the Mac site is at best cumbersome and seems to be a bit buggy and is certainly overly involved for something that should be an intuitive point-and-click kind of operation. I have also tried the premaid applescripts for this purpose but was unable to get them to work. May well be my screw-up but like I said, the prospect of adding a couple of chapter markers to a QT should take seconds and be done from a pull-down in QT Pro - I can't understand why it's so complicated.
    Much Thanks.

I started to answer a while back and safari crashed so I gave up.
There's no way to get Keynote to see the chapters, but to answer your other question...
    try this:
    http://www.feelorium.com/
I think their Textation app lets you add chapter tracks.
I usually use Final Cut Pro to make chapters, then once I've run my final DV movie through compression those get stripped out. A few simple steps and you can graft the chapter file from your original DV file into the web versions (we do this every week at my church).

  • Quicktime movies with chapters

Has anyone found a way to get Front Row to recognise chapter markers in movies?
I've created movies where both Quicktime player and iTunes recognise the chapters, but Front Row can't skip ahead (although it will play the movie).
I'm in the process of ripping various DVDs onto my new Mini, and while I can deal with X Files episodes that don't have markers, I'm not sure how I should tackle concert DVDs. I don't want the whole show to be one file where I can't move around, and creating a file per chapter is useless too, since a) AFAIK I can't use video playlists and b) video files in folders are listed alphabetically, and only played one at a time.
Any ideas? If any Apple engineers are reading this, is it possible to add support for this in a (not too far off) future revision?
    Thanks,

  • How can i ripple delete the movie with chapters included?

    Hi,
I like to remove certain movieparts by the razor tool or ripple delete. However, the 50 chapters I created don't move together with the moviepart. Any way I can leave out movieparts and all the chapters follow the ripple delete command?
Any feedback on this would be great :)

Chapters are associated with the timeline, not clips.
You'll have to do this by hand.

  • Homemade movies with chapters question? I have numerous VHS movies converted to DVD and then are converting the DVDs into MP4 via HandBrake.  I am now trying to find the chapters within the converted DVDS with no luck using QuickTime 7.  Help plz.

How do I find the chapters within a Homemade DVD when it has been converted via Handbrake to MP4 and editing ready on Quicktime Player.  I want to get chapters only out of the movie that has 23 chapters so I can edit one chapter at a time. .  Found it once when it said divide into chapters (or something like this) , but can't find it again.  Thanks for the help.

How do I find the chapters within a Homemade DVD when it has been converted via Handbrake to MP4 and editing ready on Quicktime Player.
If you included the chapter information originally contained on the DVD as part of your HandBrake conversion, then it will be located in the "Text" track of your converted file. Did you actually check the "Chapters" tab in HandBrake before converting the DVD content to ensure the chapters were to be included in final export? I.e., not all HandBrake presets automatically include a "Text" (Chapter) track.

  • How to create iPad-ready movie with chapters In PP & media encoder

Is there a tutorial to do this?  I've seen it mentioned a number of times related to the "end of life" for Encore, but can't find anything in my Media Encoder nor Premier Pro CC to indicate how to do it.
    Thx...jw

Which version of Premiere? CC does not include Encore, but you can download the Encore CS6 from your account. As it is part of Premiere CS6, I believe you would need to download and install Premiere/Encore CS6, and then you can uninstall Premiere CS6, leaving Encore CS6 installed.
If you have Premiere CS6, then you already have Encore CS6. In either case, from Premiere, use File > Export > Media to open Media Encoder. For FORMAT, choose "MPEG-2 DVD", then choose an appropriate preset from the list. For instance, if editing with 1080i, then you might choose NTSC Widescreen High Quality. For 1080p, then use the Progressive version, etc.
What is your source video format? If starting with HD, then check the box at the bottom of AME for Max Render Quality, it helps with the scaling.
Hit EXPORT at bottom and it exports two files, an .m2v for video and .wav for audio. Open Encore, start a New DVD project, and then File > Import > As Timeline and grab both those files for import. From there, I recommend finding an Encore tutorial, too involved for me to type it all out here.
Hope this gets you going at least, but search online for tutorials, there is plenty of good, free stuff out there
    Thanks

  • Combine several Quicktime (.mov) files into a DVD with chapters

I made several Quicktime movie segments (.mov) that I periodically upload to Youtube. Now I have a collection of these short 30 secs to 5 minute videos that I want to incorporate into 1 DVD.
How do I burn it with chapters to represent each videos?

I was experimenting on different formats (they are converted to mp4, m4v and mov files before uploading to Youtube) at the beginning before I settled on .mov files. My Macbook only have 80 gigs so I want to preserve all of the clips I did in DVDs before I erase them from the hard drive before importing/starting a new tape. All of them were captured using a Sony Digital 8 camcorder.

  • How do I divide a movie into chapters with different duration?

Using Idvd, I want to divide a movie into chapters using with different duration. I´m trying to do a viedo dvd and I want each song to be a chapter, but the lengh of the songs is different

    Hi
Has to be done in a movie editor like iMovie or FinalCut. And if You want a DVD as the result You should use
    • iMovie HD6 - or -
    • FinalCut any version
    To get best possibly quality
    • iMovie'08 to 11 - doesn't deliver full interlaced video over to iDVD - so there will be a quality loss
And here You can set Chapters - but there are some important things
    • Do not set any Chapter mark in very beginning - as iDVD want's to set  this by it self and get's confused
    • No Chapter mark in any transition or within 2 sec from one - This can be worked around by from Video editor Export out as Full Quality QuickTime .mov and re-import this new file - Here You can set Chapter marks wherever You want except at very beginning.
    • Titles in Chapters must not contain strange letters only A to Z and 0 to 9 are OK.

  • Synching Movie with 30GB

When trying to sync a movie i just downloaded the snyc began and a few seconds in a received the error message "Attempting to copy to the disk "Ipod" failed. THe disk could not be read from or written to"
My first attempt was to try again, and the same error message appeared. I then went through the 5 r's and the problem still persisted.
Next i went on to the troubleshooting topic and went through those fixes and used them. The only one i could not get to work was repairing the disk drive, and because i'm a windows user i had to use the chkdsk command and it did not work properly, or i did not format it properly.
Anyway that still did not help and i went so far as to copy the movie file to a different folder, delete the original and then import it back in. Still the movie will not sync with the ipod. My best guess is the lack of USB 2.0 drives, in which case i would have to install a hub. But i would prefer another way out if possible. Any help would be appreciated

    Hi
May be You mean this ?
Play all resp one chapter at a time
    Play All Button
    1. There are NO - Play All - button in any version of iDVD
    2. It can be faked in several ways
    • Easiest and most fault proof way is to make a doublet movie containing All and with
Chapters set to match. It will take up x2 space but is easy to understand and produce.
Cons: Tried this in iMovie’11 by Exporting out each part as a full Quality QT.mov then Importing back into new events and putting these into a new project (Play All project). Resulting DVD had Audio that was OK (as parts) - BUT the picture was very bad and standing photo were cut of in hight. So the Play All movie has to be created from same material and exactly in the same way as the individual parts + then Chapters has to be set to match.
    • It's said that one can put all movies into a Photo/SlideShow and this will also
give the function of a Play All button - Tested - and ONE HAS TO un-cheque - Scale pictures to TV-Safe area else it will be a black frame all around and a small picture !

You might be able to get close to what you want by using a slideshow in iDVD. (It's not widely known, but you can put videos in a slideshow.) If you set the slide duration to manual, playback will pause after each movie/slide, and you can continue with the 'next' button.
    3. Using another program to do this e.g.. Roxio Toast™ where there is a Play All button option.
    Summary
    a. Making a Play All movie with same care as the individual Part movies - gives a very Good Result
    b. Using Roxio Toast™ - also an usable way to go

  • How can I Burn a Simple DVD with Chapters and Menus out of My Home Videos.

I created an iMovie (unsig iMovie 10.0.2) of my daughter's volleyball season.  I inserted markers separating each game day, hoping these would create chapters in my DVD.  Then I did some research about DVD burning apps and finally downloaded BURN.  With Burn I created a DVD, but this DVD did not have chapters and also did not have a customizable menu.  The whole movie ended up as one 2 hour long chapter.
I have hundresd of family vacation on a hard drive stored and would like to start making iMovies of them to put on DVD for easy watching and forbackup  storing.
What is a simple way I can burn my iMovie with chapters onto a DVD?
My macbook pro did not come with iDVD so I dont have it.
    Thanks.

MY source is HD i beleive. I shot videos with an iPad Mini.
I ventured into this because I offered this DVD to several team parents, so they are waiting for me to give them the DVD.  While I was making it, I added subtitles, showing the game dates, game scores and stats of each player, so it came out really nice.  However, not to concern about quality, i have burt the video in a dual layer dvd in SD.  I dont have a blue ray burner nor media.
This made me want to do the same with my family vacations vieeos, whic now are a bunch of files in a hard drive, sort them by vacation and add titles like lications to actualy be abel to watch them on a dvd someday.
I have apple tv in the family room, but do not use to watch these videos, will look into that. However, I would still want to make the DVD's.
It seems odd how this, basic feature, has been dropped. I guess apple does not want us to use any more discs.
Still hoping I can do this, if not, I will have to gie away the DVDs with the 2 hour long video in a single chapter.

  • Movie with special features won't play

My sister sent me a movie that she purchased on her iTunes account and it sent completely to my iTunes.  It is a movie with extended features.  When I opened it in my iTunes it goes to a page that says "play", "chapters", "features", "more".  I am able to click features and more and it shows me those features however it asks me to authorize using my apple ID (even though it was purchased on my sisters).  When I go over to play movie or even chapters it will not let me play the movie at all and it does not even give me the option to authorize the movie.  She does not have 5 computers authorized on her account so there is no reason it should not work on my computer
could anyone help with this problem?
