Movies and not music videos
I just bought a ipod video. I thought I was buying an Ipod Nano video since that is what the sales guy called it. it about the same width as the ipod but very thin like a nano.
Anyway, my question pertains to what the sales guy said. He said that I could save my movie DVDs on my computer hard drive and download them to my ipod to watch them just like a on a very smalll portable DVD player. My Ipod does have a place for music, videos, and movies...sepearatley. There fore I tend to believe him...the real question is...How??!!! I cannot find anything about movies on the apple website or in the adobe files that came with my ipod.
can someone help me please?

I just wanted to add that I found converters online to put DVD movies on my Ipod, but I think that they only work for Mac and I have a PC. Is there something out there for me? Do I really need a converter to put a movie on this Ipod??

You can, you just need to make sure that your videos are in a Quicktime-compatible format (.m4v or .mp4 work best), then drag the files into your iTunes library. You can then find them in the Videos section and showing the information of the file will allow you to indicate that it is a music video (as opposed to a movie or TV show) and that will allow you to access the video in the music library.

Music + Video Kind is not 'Music Video' incompatible in smart playlists
When iTunes introduced [Videos], they started showing up in my [Smart Playlists] used to maintain [Music] (too many to list). I was able to correct this by adding:
[Playlist] is [Music]
...to all playlists.
However, [Music Videos] still show up in my music playlists. This is particularly a problem because, using [Rivet], every playlist that has any video of any kind gets added to the folder tree on [Xbox]>iTunes>Videos which clutters it significantly. I expected that:
Match All
[Video Kind] is not [Music Video]
[Playlist] is [Music]
(and all other criteria)
...would fix this, but it doesn't; instead everything disappears-- I've tried the two in isolation too. I'm guessing as soon as you add [Video Kind] to a smart playlist, it dedicates that playlist to [Video] only making the criteria [Video Kind] is {...} AND [Playlist] is [Music] incompatible. However, in this case, these criteria should coexist IMO. Also, most of these playlists require "Match All" to be selected.
There are two workarounds if anyone has the same beef:
1) Change all music videos' [Media Kind] to [Video], and just store them there. Not the ideal use of iTunes library system, but doable.
2) Create another smart playlist called 'Music Videos' where [Video Kind] is [Music Video] and then add [Playlist] is not [Music Videos] to every music playlist.
Anyway, just thought I'd put it out there. Is the suggestion reasonable that these two criteria should be able to coexist? Am I using iTunes wrong or is there a better way to solve this problem?
Based on how I see it now, I hope someone at Apple will fix this. Add a [MEDIA Kind] criterion, ditch the [Video Kind] criterion, and make this aspect more intuitive (and consistent with the classification of library entries-- ie [Video Kind] doesn't exist anywhere in the scheme but [Media Kind] does). Either that or just make a way to choose an optional super criterion for every smart playlist's [Media Type], then we could use "Match All" vs "Match Any" much more effectively.
Thanks for listenin.Very cool- that worked, thank you! I didn't know that was even an option, and it must have popped up sometime after I bought my iPod Photo in 2005. And I would guess that the iPod Photo ignores that setting, since it worked just fine on that device, but nothing since then.
One question- I was able to bulk-edit my three Podcast groups by clicking on the group header and applying to all. But will each subsequent Podcast (I get at least 2 new ones each day) default back to Skip, and periodically I'll have to go back and re-edit the groups? Or since I edited at Group level, does iTunes make that setting sticky for that category?

Recently, I can no longer add songs in my itunes. I can delete it or move the songs into playlist but adding songs doesn't work anymore. I can still add photos and movies but not music. Please help me solve this issue.
I have a master iTunes file that contains all the music that I or my children have bought and then my own collection within the file. That song, 'Mercy, Mercy Me/I Want You' is gone from both lists
Nabitnak, Not sure what kind of master file you are keeping, but the song file is probably in your backup.
Why is that song not available on iTunes? I can get it on Amazon.
The iTunes Store, like any retailer, does not have 100% of all existing items. But anyway, if you can buy it on one store, it hardly matters why another store does not have it.
The coincidence of my missing song and iTune's missing the same song is beyond suspicious.
Maybe, although if you have a backup it should be there.
To address the other part of your question, "I can find it on You Tube, why not iTunes?": Youtube has content that is uploaded by users. Music retailers such as iTunes have content that they are licensed to sell as downloads. The two things have nothing to do with each other. -

1. Go into iTunes and right click on the media you want
2. Click on "Get Info"
3. Click on "Options"
4. Go to media kind and change it whatever you want music video etc.
5. Click "OK"

My iPad was mirroring the optimmum tv app but now it's just mirroring the audio and not the video.....What do I do to correct this?!!!

When I go to download tunes and/or music videos, each attempt concludes with a "Session Timed Out" message, asking me to "try again." I do -- and the same thing happens.
I am working with iTunes 10.4.1 on an iMac with OS 10.4.11.

Remove the check mark next to Sync Movies from under your iPod's Movies tab. Then configure your iPod to sync whatever content you wish from under its Music tab. Then apply the changes to your iPod/resync it.

I do a movie whith iMovie. I finalize the project and I pass it to iDvd. Then I do a little menu and I burn my DVD. When I play my DVD on a computer or in my TV it ALWAYS begins directly with the movie and not with the menu... PLEASE HELP!!!!
Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty. That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.

When you converted the original files via MPEG Streamclip, what did you convert them to?
Have you tried trashing your preferences in FCP? Trashing FCP prefs is usually the first step when FCP is performing strangely.

Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos from iCloud not showing up in Videos app
So I just did a reset on my iPhone because the movie artwork for the movie Love Actually was a picture of Adele's album artwork and it really bothered me. All the other movies in the Videos app was fine, they all matched to their respective titles. So I did a reset hoping that would fix that tiny minor issue but after doing the reset and restoring, None of the movies I've purchased in the past are showing up. All it says is "No Content. You can download videos from the iTunes Store." And I did go into the Videos settings to make sure "Show All Videos" is being set to on (green) but it still did nothing, none of my movies, tv shows, or music videos are showing up in the cloud. This really irritates me because I had one small issue that I was hoping to fix but now a new problem has risen and it's going to bug the **** out of me more than the original problem did. I tried turning it off and turining it back on, signing in and out of iTunes account, and pressing the power button and the home button at the same time, but still nothing from iCloud has appeared, Is anybody else having this issue? FYI, I also have the latest update 7.0.4 but I don't think that should have caused this issue. If anybody knows a solution, please let me know because as you can see, I'm very OCD about this, I like to see all my videos in the Videos app.
This was driving me nuts, but I figured it out. Here's how to fix:
1) Create (or find) a thumbnail image that represents the series to you (I put text over a screenshot) in Photoshop or whatever you like to use, and put it on the clipboard
2) In iTunes, select all the episodes from your series in the TV Shows view, right click, and select "Get Info"
3) On the first tab ("Info") click in the artwork field, then paste in the thumbnail
4) THIS IS THE KEY STEP - With your iPad plugged into your Mac, go to the TV shows tab and uncheck "Sync TV Shows" and then apply the new settings, and say okay when it tells you all your TV shows will be removed from your iPad
5) After the sync is complete, check to make sure all your TV shows are gone (in the video app, there shouldn't even be a tab for TV Shows)
6) In iTunes, check Sync TV Shows again, then apply
Once the sync is complete, your TV Shows will hopefully show up with good thumbnails.
The issue seems to be that once a file has been copied over, updating the thumbnail image in iTunes will NOT force an update on the iPad, and in the TV Shows view there are no captions on the main screen. You have to delete all the files to wipe the DB on the iPad. -

In iTunes, you need to pay attention to mark/unmark the fields properly to everything runs well.
Syncing your device with iTunes, open your device. In the Resume Tab, if you have marked "Just sync Music and Videos selected" and/or have unmarked "Manage Music and Videos manually", they mean you need manage which music/videos you want in your device.
Go to Videos Tab, check if the video is there, but probably it is unmarked or something like this. Mark the blanked field and sync with your device again to see what happen.
If sitll not working out, check how iTunes Match works. You maybe need to have an account in iTunes Match to share the video with other devices you have.

You can't, Anh. That's what people are telling you. At this time there's no way to get out of recovery mode. You're playing around with beta software and this is what you get.
Tell your "developer friend" he needs to talk to other developers to see if this can be fixed, or have him replace your devices that you should never have let him play with to begin with. -
Why does iTunes send music via iCloud to my ipad and iPhone, but not music videos
When I get music via itunes, icloud pushes them to my ios devices, but music videos do not.
Were the music videos purchased with a different Apple ID than the one you are using for iTunes Match? If so, I don't believe they are eligible (same is true if the music video was not purchased from the iTunes Store).

First off, its not the printer. Everything else (from pages to pictures to html etc) prints with no problems. Whenever I print a pdf (either self created or sent to me by someone else) it prints out very blurry. or if there is any sort of watermark
