Movies and TV shows in the cloud playback keeps quitting

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me with this strange and very frustrating problem we have encountered recently...
I'm running a Mac Mini (latest model that comes with Server, Mavericks, 16GB RAM). We have fibre broadband with Virgin Media and get speeds of a steady 80mb down and about 9mb up. I connect wirelessly to an apple timecapsule which has very good signal.  Our Movies and TV shows are stored in the cloud rather than locally.
Until recently we could stream the shows/movies without any interruption. Lately however we are finding that without exception, playback will simply stop and we are dumped back to the mavericks desktop - usually within the first few minutes of starting to watch something.
I have also noticed the following perhaps related issues:
1. If I try to download a local copy from the cloud it takes me many attempts as the download regularly quits (with a 3253 error message I think);
2. Once it is downloaded we can watch the local copy without any problems
3.  We have an second gen Apple TV which also connects wirelessly to the same timecapsule. The Apple TV does not encounter any playback issues.
4.  Bizarrely i often note that even though I have all 8 seasons of 24 purchased through itunes, and although Itunes says there are 8 seasons available - I can often only see one episode. If I go to the iTunes Store find the relevant 24 season, it seems to trigger my copy of itunes to 'remember' that I should have access to it.
I have even gone so far as to do a full clean reinstall of mavericks to try and resolve the problem but it's still there.
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks
Kris

Same thing is happening to me on my iPhone. I tried signing out of my account and signing back in, but still nothing. Hope someone has an answer out there.

Are you sure you bought and not rented them?  Renting lets you to access the video for up to 48 hours.

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both.  If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time.  Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.
    I hope this helps!

  • Unable to View Movies or TV Shows In the Cloud

    Hello Community,
I have a problem that's driving me a little crazy.  Any help I can get would be appreciated.
Let me get my system information and versions out of the way first:
    MacBook Air 13", Early 2014
    8GB RAM, 1.4GHz i5 Processor, and 128GB SSD
63.69GB of 121GB free on the HD
    Yosemite 10.10.1
    iTunes 12.0.1.26
I've been an iTunes Match subscriber for a couple years and all my other devices including my 2 Apple TV's, iPhone 6, iPad Air, and PC work without issue.  However, my MacBook Air cannot see my Movie or TV content in iCloud thru iTunes.  In fact, even when I go into the iTunes Store and select 'Purchased' to see all the Movies and Shows I own I can see them but cannot download them.  The cloud with the download arrow is in the upper right-hand corner but when I select one to download it won't download, it doesn't do anything.
When looking at Movies or TV Shows within iTunes they just show up blank.  Like I don't own any content.  My music shows up fine and doesn't seem to be having any issues.  I've tried signing out of iTunes Store and signing back in, PRAM reset, SMC reset, removed the iTunes and App Store .plist, erased and installed the OS, made sure I'm fully updated, and everything else I can imagine.  I have a ton of experience with Apple and PC and this is the first time I've dealt with this.
I don't have any trouble downloading or purchasing from iTunes Store or Mac App Store aside from the Movies and TV shows.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Josh

I was having the same issue.  It may be a check box in iTunes that is not activated.
Go to iTunes Preferences and choose the Store tab.  In the middle of the window is an option to "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases".  Make sure this is checked.  Your movies should now appear in the 'My Movies' folder of iTunes.  Hope this helps.

  • I got note saying "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies, and TV shows on the ipod will be removed"  what is wrong?

I can't get my manual i got in itunes to come up in ibooks on my ipod touch (4th Generation). I can't find any answer to what is happening here. I do have music in the ipod and don't want to lose it. I hope someone can help me with this.
I can see the manual in iTunes with my device selected and looking in Books. They are shown in grey, ( 2 manuals i have downloaded). " All Books" is selected under Sync Books. Sync Books is not selected because this is where the note above pops up if I check mark this.

  • I'm missing movies and TV shows on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV

I've purchased a significant number of movies and TV shows over the last few years. When available in HD, I always purchase titles in HD, whether they're TV shows or movies. I have iCloud enabled on all of my devices, and am also an iTunes Match subscriber. I very much enjoy having all of my content available, whether I'm at home or on the road. As long as I have an internet connection, my content is available.
Unfortunately, it would seem I'm missing random items from iCloud -- movies and TV shows. For example, I purchased both Cars and Cars 2 (Disney/Pixar) in HD, but only Cars shows up on our iPads, my iPhone and our Apple TV. Cars 2 is missing. Likewise with several episodes of the Big Bang Theory--none of my Season 1 episodes show up on the iPads, iPhone or Apple TV, but purchases from Seasons 4, 5 and 6 do.
The items are all downloaded on my MacBook, so they all appear there. If I go to the iMac, Cars 2 and the Season 1 Big Bang Theory episodes don't show up as available iCloud downloads. However, if I go into the iTunes Store and select these items to purchase again, iTunes tells me I already purchased the item and downloads it to me for free. So if iTunes knows I purchased it, why doesn't it show up in iCloud?
If this were an issue of studio rules/copyright, I would expect this problem to be specific to movies/shows from certain studios. In the case of Cars and Cars 2, these are both Disney/Pixar films, so why would Cars be in iCloud but not Cars 2?
Another movie that DOES show up in my iCloud is Gran Torino, one that I redeemed as a Digital Copy.
There are other TV shows and movies that have this same problem--they don't appear in iCloud but if I search for them in the iTunes Store, I can re-download them at no charge if I already purchased them.
Does anyone know how I can get the "missing" items to appear in iCloud if I legitimately purchased them or redeemed them via a promo code?

I did a little bit more research, and if I go into iTunes and choose to display TV Shows and Movies as a List, I get a nice, sortable list of movies and shows to which I can add columns. A column that you can add is called "iCloud Status."
This column shows either Purchased or Ineligible for all of the titles. And this is where things get really confusing.
Sure enough, the items that are "missing" from the iPads, iPhone, Apple TV, etc. are the Ineligible items, but that's not the confusing part. What IS confusing is which items are Ineligible.
A good example is my Deadliest Catch collection -- I own the entire season 3 and 4 of DC; season 3 is Purchased and Season 4 is Ineligible. Back to the Big Bang Theory, I have five episodes from Season 4 -- 3 are Ineligible and 2 are Purchased.
It makes absolutely no sense that episodes from the same season of the same show would be a mix of Purchased and Ineligible!

  • How do I delete items (movies and TV Shows) that are on my iPad that I have moved back to the cloud permanently from the cloud?

Anyone out there who can help me permantly delete movies and TV Shows from my iCloud that I moved to the Cloud from my iPad Air to the Cloud?

You can't delete them from iCloud because they aren't stored in your personal account (and don't use any of your storage).  You are only seeing download links so they can be redownloaded from the iTunes store.  You can't delete anything from this list of previously purchased media, but if you don't want to see them on your device you can hide them in iTunes on your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.  After hiding them, you won't see them on your device unless you unhide them again.

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

    Much love

  • Audio and video tracks in movies and tv shows purchased at the itunes store do not play in sync on my desktop PC - can anybody help?

    Any thoughts?

Purchased movies from iTunes are automatically available on Apple's cloud, but not as part of your purchased storage; purchased movies are stored free, since you can redownload them any time (unless the movies are no longer available).
    From Apple:
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .....
    What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails

  • Germany: Can't redownload purchased movies/TV shows from the cloud

iTunes in the cloud for movies and TV shows launched yesterday in Germany. Everything purchased appears online in the purchased items section of the iTunes Store, but when I want to redownload somehting I get the error "This item is temporarily unavailable."(Mac OS) or "The item you tried to buy is no longer available."(iOS). This happens with all previously purchased movies and TV shows. I checked that they are really available in the iTunes Store, rebooted, deleted the iTunes Store cache, logged out and back in in the iTunes Store and this issue still exists for me (and other people I talked to). Has someboy an idea how to solve this problem?

After over 24 hours this issue seems now to have been resolved But not exactly the smooth feature rollout you would expect from Apple...

  • I cannot connect to Home Sharing on iTunes, so that I can send movies and TV shows to another computer.  The other "library" does not come up in the box on the upper right side of the iTunes screen.  I tried disconnecting each computer from Home Sharing.

I cannot connet to Home Sharing on iTunes, so that I can send movies and TV shows to another computer.  I cannot find the name of the other computer in the "Library" box on the upper right side of the iTunes screen.  Do I need to have the other computer connected to the Cloud?

Mkae sure you have enabled Home Sharing using the same AppleID on both computers.

  • I am missing the iTunes Store Tabs for Music, Movies, and TV Shows.  How do I add them?

I am missing the iTunes Store Tabs for Music, Movies, and TV shows.  How do I add them?
It is very strange especially not having the Music Tab.  I desperately want to download music...
Please help, anyone please, thank you.

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
To go back to your question; you cannot merge accounts, but perhaps using one account for iCloud and the other for iTunes will resolve the majority of the reasons you needed to merge to begin with.

  • How do you move just your movies and tv shows to an external hard drive and have iTunes recognize that that is where that media is (keeping music on the internal hard drive itself and putting only movies and tv shows on an external hard drive)?

I'm not sure about how to get iTunes to recognize that my music is in one location (on my MacBook's internal hard drive) and my movies and tv shows are in another (on an external hard drive I purchased).  I know how to make iTunes recognize that all of my iTunes files are on an external hard drive, but not only some of them.  Please help me out.  Thanks.

While you can do that, it is not a feature of iTunes.  Put your movies on the external drive, then add them to iTunes by dragging the files to iTunes while holding the option (alt) key down so it leaves the files where they are located.  There are other ways to move them if they are already added but they can be more involved and tricky.  If it's just one or two try:  http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected
