Does anyone else have the problem, or at least the annoyance, of watching a movie in safari/flash movie/game in the background, and it delaying a few seconds?
for example when watching a flash video in safari, and i click the desktop background, the video isnt smooth; it kind of jumps every 1/2 second, then once i click back on safari, it goes to being smooth and watchable.
is this a setting that i can change, or just the way the video card is?
Do the intel macs do this (i have a 20'' PPC Imac G5 w/ iSight)
-- i forgot to add the fact that flip4mac WMV installed - a program that plays WMV and other formats in quicktime player. i dont know if thatll do it, because it still wouldnt explain why it effects flash movies

Looks to me as standard WebKit (Safari) behavior. When in the background, WebKit halves the amount of CPU it requests for any Flash movie it is currently displaying. Perhaps to keep de rest of the apps responsive when you are visiting sites with lots of Flash banners, etc.
Firefox and Camino do not display this behavior (while they use the same Flash plugin). So it's not a bandwidth issue.

Move Flash Form Preloader

I have a 2200px hight form. I would like the Preloader and
error message window to display in the center of the
viewport(browser) but instead displays in the center of the form
which is not in the users view at all times.
Does anyone know how to move these elements?

mailing forms, but I remember when I started, I had this problem
too.

Flash movie "Flashes"

Whenever I go to a web page that has a flash movie on it the
contents of the movie has random parts of the movie flickering on
and off. The movie does show but it is extremely annoying having
this flashing on so many pages.
This is in Windows 2000.
I have installed an updated video driver.
I have installed a new video card.
I have re-installed the flash player.

Move Flash Settings to AppData\Roaming instead of Local?

I have a Network site license for Adobe CS4 Flash. However, my users Settings KEEP deleting because they are stored in AppData\Local instead of AppData\Roaming (Windows 7) or Local Settings\Application Data instead of just Application Data (XP).
In a Network, local settings are deleted on logoff.
WHY on EARTH would Adobe Change this? We have been running Adobe Flash (Macromedia before that) for 10 years and we never had issues with MX, Flash 8, Flash 9 or CS3 but in CS4 all the settings move to the ONE folder that deletes on logoff?
The weird thing is that Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4, Fireworks CS4 ALL store their settings in the Application Data folder, not the Local one.
It is JUST Flash that is being annoying.
I have upgraded to 10.0.2 and it hasn't made a difference.
I need to figure out the hack to fix this asap as it is driving my users crazy.

With Flash CS3 it stored it in the AppData\Roaming. In fact ALL the Adobe products still do, except Flash.
Here is the documentation on where they have designated the Preferences to save. Note the "local settings" for XP and the Local for Windows 7.
Kind of very dumb because the Local Settings deletes on logoff..

Movies flash problem - Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 8.1 Preview)

Hi.
I've got a problem with a flash content in IE v. 11 on Windows 8.1 preview. I'm unable to watch any movies requires flash (ex. movies on starwars.com or the movie on the Adobe test page) neither on Metro mode nor desktop mode. Hope u'll help me find solution.

Besides that, please also try to reset your Internet Explorer to check if it helps:
1.Close all Internet Explorer windows that are currently open.
2.Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. Changing your settings will affect both Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for the desktop.
3.Tap or click the Tools button, and then tap or click Internet options.
4.Tap or Click the Advanced tab, and then tap or click Reset.
5.In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, tap or click Reset.
6.When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, tap or click Close, and then tap or click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

How to move Flash cs 5 professional to new computer

I have adobe flash cs 5.5 professional installed on my laptop (student version) I originally boughtthis online and downloaded it to my laptop and have no CD.
I am buying a new computer and need to know how to get everything reinstalled on the new computer and transfer the registration.
Any help will be appreciated as I have absolutely no clue what do.

Using those same search terms, or other similar ones, you should be able to find sufficient information to get you thru the process.
While the one linked above has "CS6" written throughout it, chances are it is equally applicable to preceding versions. The link itself indicates it was probably just a quick edit to change it from CS5 to CS6.

CS4 Mac - File Dialog Moves Flash Window Down

I have Flash CS4 10.0.1.545 Mac with OS X 10.5.6:
I have the standard Workspace and when I select Import to import an image, the open file dialog in OS X slides down from the top of the stage and the entire Flash window that is holding my timeline and stage moves down about 100 pixels. I then import, then I click the top of the window to move it back up and it snaps back instantly as soon as I click on it before I drag it up.
Anyone else getting this on the Mac?

The only way to avoid this is to resize the dialog so that it's so short it doesn't go down past the Dock. Since this dialog spawns at the top of the stage, putting the timeline at the bottom instead of the top helps.

QT movie flash frame

I'm in 8.5 and am seeing a flash frame (of nothing) when the
frame of my QT movies appears. This doesn't happen if I don't
choose direct to stage, but the video from my movie also doesn't
play (only audio)
Any suggestions?

This problem is fairly common. The easy solution that usually
works is
to set it up so that when the QT sprite 1st appears, have it
off the
stage for 1 frame. Then, move it into place. The flash will
now happen
when it can not be seen, and the video will appear to start
at the
beginning, since the viewer will only have missed the 1st
1/15th of a
second or so.

You can try one of the app/service combinations for playing Flash such as Skyfire , Puffin, or iSwifter. One of those might work for you, though they all have limitations.

Looping movie, Flash CS Professional

Hi all
I am in the process of building a site for a riding school
and they would like a 10 second bit of footage looping at the top
the page, the footage has been shot on a HDD camcorder in 520 x 480
I think.
The client would like the footage to across the top, 750ish
wide x about 250 high.
Is there anyway i can use Flash to get this to happen or will
I need to use a video editing program?

Generally any video or image that is resized inside of Flash
will not look
great. Ideally what you want to do is find a program that
will let you
resize the movie to the finished size. However, since you
want to exapnd the
widget from 520 to 750 you are increasing the size by 50% and
it may not
look very good blown up that much regardless of what software
you use. I
don't have any experience with "upsizing" video so someone
else might
suggest software that will do it correctly.
Also, keep in mind that if you take a 520x480 movie and make
it 750 wide it
will end up 692 high and you said your client wants it only
250 high. This
means you will either have to crop it from 692 to 250 so
you'll loose 65% of
your height. If the footage was not shot with this cropping
in mind it may
look very odd cropped this way.

I have a MC with a link to download a *.mov file (quicktime).
I've used getURL to point the target to download, but when I
click on
the link the .mov file opens in the web browser.
I'd like to make it go for download whithout play through the
browser!!

zip the mov file - if you point to the MOV then the browser
will open it with the appropriate
plugin. Zip the file and upload the zip and point to it
instead.

ITunes movie flashing during playback

Just rented my first movie on iTunes. It was fine for the first 30 mins then paused with no response from my iMac for about a minute, spinning wheel then playback resumed with either green or purple flashes/frames 2 or 3 times a second. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks

Although you don't state the version of iTunes you're using, your description indicates that you are probably encountering the playback issues that some (many?) users have encountered with the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1. There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of these playback issues (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer). The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using:" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8).
Another possible remedy relates to a potential clash between the 64-bit version of iTunes 12 and Google Chrome; some users have reported that uninstalling Chrome (not just not having it running) resolves the iTunes playback issues without having to install the alternative version referred to above.
Finally, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

H264.mov , Flash 9 - QT pro works, Compressor Doesn't???

Creating h.264 movies with QT Pro. Change extension, to .flv, they play fine in Flash 9 player. Use Compressor to make similar movie, change extension to .flv, it doesn't work.
I need to batch hundreds of movies as we update our websites, so repeatable, preset driven work flow is a must. Any idea why QT Pro works and Compressor doesn't?

How do I move Flash CS6 from an old computer to a new one?

I installed CC and CS6 on my computer when it was first introduced years ago. Now I need to upgrade to a new computer. The CC on the new computer does not show Flash CS6 support. I require AS2 since I have created many apps with it for my customers and need to continue to support them. I do not intend to switch to AS3 because I have too many old apps to change over.
How do I install Flash CS6 on my new computer so I can remove it from my old one and get rid of it?

You can install Flash CS6 on your new machine with your Creative Cloud subscription.
Sign in with your Adobe ID on the page https://creative.adobe.com/products/flash. You can then toggle the version from CC to CS6 and click the blue Download button. This will make the Creative Cloud app download and install the CS6 version.
