Movies from iCloud

I purchased movies from iTunes before but some movies don't show up from the iCloud now. Any help?

Same here - bought my daughter an iPad instead of a laptop and it filled up immediately with films. So I accepted the prompt to buy iCloud space and it hasn't worked. Can't place on my computers as back up as I have a different apple id. Very frustrating, feeling mis-sold and resentful that paid full whack for so many films only to never be able to view them.

I Can never watch a movie on the plane unless I move it first!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
All you need to do is enable contacts in system preferences > iCloud on your Mac. Once you do this a sync will commence and your contacts application will be populated with your contacts from iCloud.

How do I delete movies from iCloud on my iPad

That's a big fat lie, I have 10 movies via digital copy and takes 0 space from my icloud backup. & we have 5 devices backup to my icloud account AND I have my backup storage to basic 5GIGS. So right there you say to make you pay more storage is a BIG FAT LIE. Our devices contains 8-64GB's and everything fits in a 5gigs space.
You might as add well the apps accounts for space to. WRONG!!
Those apps are in your account but not in your storage, the iTunes App Store part, doesn't even add to your icloud storage. Your backup contains the save files, network routers you connected in the past plus the small layout how you customized it over your home page.
That part takes small kb of space needed to save all that.
Movies on your device will take storage but if it's NOT on your device, IT WONT!
Like I said, once it's added to the account via key from the case to your account, stays tie to your account & will NOT take space from your icloud backup storage.
And don't even forgt that I have 5 device from my family with 10 digital copies on one storage with 5gigs and have 800's MB left. We use our photo/videos we took from camera to a remote secure site onto our computers.
Simple as that, if you don't listen to that then I feel sorry for you not listening.
But your not gonna get any other answers besides logging out what I said months back. GOOD DAY!
Ps. If there were, you've been already got an answer besides mine. Go ahead and waist your life lookn for an answer which doesn't have an answer to other than that what I said.
And yes, that's what I meant JJorvath. Hide it but will not get off your account bc it's not part of icloud backup.

  • When I try to share a project to theater I get the message Your Theater could not be opened. There was a problem reading your movies from iCloud and the project does not share. Can anyone help?

When I try to share a project to theater I get the message Your Theater could not be opened. There was a problem reading your movies from iCloud and the project does not share. Can anyone help?

Set up iMovie Theater and iCloud
In order to take full advantage of the capabilities of iMovie Theater, you must be signed in to iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, movies and trailers shared to iMovie Theater are automatically uploaded to iCloud. You can also turn off automatic uploading, and upload just the movies and trailers you want, or delete individual movies and trailers from iCloud. For more information about the Theater, see iMovie Theater overview.
If you sign out of your iCloud account on your Mac, all iCloud movies disappear from the Theater, but they are not deleted; the movies reappear when you sign in again. If you ever run out of space in iCloud, an alert icon appears in the top-right corner of your movie, indicating that you can’t upload new movies. For more information, click the icon. After you upgrade your iCloud storage or clear space, your movies automatically appear in iCloud again.
    Hide
    Set up automatic iCloud uploading
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and click iCloud.
Make sure you’re signed in, and then select the Documents & Data checkbox.
Click the Options button next to Documents & Data.
Make sure the iMovie checkbox is selected.
In iMovie, choose iMovie > Preferences.
Select the “Automatically upload content to iCloud” checkbox.
To turn off automatic uploading, deselect the checkbox.

  • Why does watching movies from iCloud fill up storage? And why do I have to reset to clean storage?

i watch movies from iCloud. some how it fills up my storage, but I can't clear it without resetting. What am I doing wrong?

If you are talking about the movies that have the cloud icon next to them, you are not actually streaming them. You are downloading them from the cloud. If you completely download the movie, then you will be able to delete them as John Galt is describing above.
This isn't made every clear by Apple, IMO. Most people assume that they are streaming, but when you tap the cloud icon, you start downloading the movie and it can't be deleted until it is fully downloaded. I have been down this road a few times myself.

  • HT4915 How to permanently delete a movie from iCloud, so that it can no longer be accessed (not simply hidden)?

I am looking to remove items from the hidden folder in my iTunes account.
There is a solution for deleting music, however, a different prompt screen when deleting a movie does not provide the same solution.
Following is the prompt when deleting a movies
1st - "Are you sure you want to delete the selected movie from your iTunes library?"
This movie will also be deleted from any iPod, iPhone, or iPad which synchronizes with your iTunes library. ( - ) Do not ask me again.
2nd - "Do you want to move the selected movie (which was downloaded from the iTunes Store) to the Trash, or keep it in the iTunes Media folder?"
Only files in the iTunes Media folder will be moved to the Trash. (Keep File) (Move to Trash)

Movies are not stored in iCloud. That's the reason you get a different prompt.
When you delete a movie from iTunes the 1st. option above is on instances where you have the same movie in other mobile devices.
2nd. option allow you to delete the movie either from iTunes list (Keep File) only or remove from your computer completely (Move to Trash) and from the iTunes too.
Now, if you purchase a movie from iTune Store you can safetely delete it from your computer (Move to Trash option) and stream it later. (Check this link for how to: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.)
Let me know if this help to answer your question.

  • How to remove a movie from iCloud and iMovie Theater?

So I figured out how to publish a movie from iMovie 10 to the Apple TV channel iMovie Theater> by using the iCloud button. But now once it's there how can I remove it? Or is this a new way for Apple to get me to purchase more space in iCloud?

There is a another solution as in my case. I was tired of all my lousy movies and so I deleted my entire iMove libary in my user folder. That "stranded" some movies in the Theater cloud which showed up on my Apple TV.
What I did was go to System Preferences and chose "iCloud". Then under iCloud Storage I clicked "Manage...". Here you can go under Documents, etc and delete what is "backed up" in the cloud.

Content like music, apps, movies, tv shows, doen't count against your iCloud storage capacity. Please see this website which explains what actually uses your iCloud storage: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • "Cannot open" error when downloaded *purchased* movie from icloud?

This had happened multiple times and I cannot believe it hasn't been fixed when I see issues with rentals from years ago!  I fully downloaded a movie I purchased a year ago to my iPhone. It successfully downloaded, processed, etc. Shows the dot next to it as fully unwatched. Plenty of room on phone. Have watched movie on our Apple TV - no problem.
WHen I go to watch, annoying "cannot open" message. :-(
Do they seriously expect me to ONLY download movies to a computer with a hardwire connection and transfer them? I can't travel with an iMac desktop, obviously! What's the point of icloud then?!!!!! It's ridiculous!
ANY tricks to get this movie to play? Anyone have any luck in this situation?
    Thanks.

    Hi kfrau13,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you were not able to view the rented movie, you may want to report the issue with your purchase:

  • Deleting SD movies from iCloud to purchase HD

Hi. I purchased all of the Harry Potter movies a long time ago on iTunes when they were only available in SD. Now I have the new Apple TV, so I want to play them in full 1080p HD. I see that full HD is available. But here's the problem. iCloud recognizes that I have purchased the older SD versions. So when I go to the Movies app on Appl TV it only gives me the option to play the SD version. It won't give me the option to purchase or rent the HD version. Does anyone know how to get rid of this issue? I deleted the physical files from my iTunes on my Mac. But that doesn't seem to be taking it out of iCloud.
In fact, none of my movies are showing up from iTunes as being in the movie "iCloud," however the ones I have purchased do show up on Apple TV as being in the purchased section. Any advice would be great.

There's nothing in your user folder > Music > iTunes > iTunes media > movies?
    Emptied the trash?

  • Downloading movies from icloud

I can see my icloud movies in my PC iTunes account, but can't get any to download.  Anyone have suggestions?

No.  Photo stream only includes photos added to your camera roll, not videos.  You can only add short (5 min. or less) videos to a shared stream, not to your photo stream.  This explains how to create a shared stream: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.
Note: don't make the mistake of adding your videos to a shared stream and then deleting them from your device.  At the present time, you can only view videos in a shared stream; you can't download them.  If you were to add videos to a shared stream and then delete them from your device, you would not be able to redownload them.

  • Can't download movies from icloud

Hi there.  I'm having a real problem with iCloud.  I can't download to iTunes the movies I've purchased in iCloud (Apple TV, other Computers with my Account, etc.)
I'm not sure if I'm just not doing it right or if there's somethign wrong, but when I go to the movie, and click the little cloud to try to download, nothing happens: I can see it in my Library (with the little cloud icon), but I can't play it, I can't download it, I can't do anything!
    SO frustrating.  Please help.  THanks.
    Colin.

Some simple things to take try:
    1. Sign out and sign back into your Apple ID on iTunes: Menu Bar > Store > Sign Out (wait for iTunes to Delete Genius Results if any exist); then, Menu Bar > Store > Sign In > Enter credentials (use your Apple ID used to make those purchases)
    2. (Re)Authorize / Deauthorize-Authorize the computer to download and play past purchases
         a. Windows Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12511
         b. Mac Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12303
    3. Instead of clicking on the past purchased item's "Cloud" button in your library try an alternate download area within the iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12491
    4. If you wish to have the purchases on your device in the end... a work around, download direct on your device:
         a. Open iTunes App > (iPad) Tap "Purchased on the bottom bar or (iPhone/iPod Touch) Tap "More" then tap "Purchased" > Select your category of media (Music/Movies/TV Shows) > Browse to the purchase alphabetically > Tap the "Cloud" button and wait for download to finish > Progress can be seen by tapping "Downloads" button on bottom bar of iTunes App (any device).

  • Missing movies from iCloud

Certain movies I've purchased don't appear in iCloud. Are there some studios that don't allow it?  The most recent is This means War... I downloaded it on my iPad but can only play on the apple tv, etc through AirPlay. I did check for it on a couple apple tvs and 2 iPhones, and reconnected to the store to refresh views and such.  I'd like to know if there is a method to knowing this or if it is permanent. I'm missing several others, like the most recent in the Narnia series. ICloud is my primary backup for these movies and if it's incomplete I need to develop a different strategy.
    Thanks much,

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Yes, the ability to re-download movies is currently a trial, it is taking place in the US only, and only a handful of movie studios have agreed to participate.
