Movies in iTunes to be viewed via Apple TV

I have currently 29 movies in iTunes with a total length of 10 hours and wanted to add another one. But it will not let me add a new one but replace another film.
Is there a limit of how many films I can have in iTunes?
I have plenty of room on the storage disc.
Thanks for a reply.

it concerns projects from iMovie (iM11) and they play on QuickTime. It concerns two movies, part one and part 2, different titles. The list in iMovie indicates that both films were released to iTunes, but in iTunes one erases the other and one of them will not show up in the list or on AppleTV. I have no idea why, all other projects sent to iTunes are fine.
Thanks for any help (gerne auch direkt).

  • Can you download movies into iTunes then watch them via airplay without an internet connection?  We want to be able to watch them in our RV that does have an internet connection always.

Can you download movies into iTunes and watch them via airplay without an internet connection?  We want to be able to watch downloaded movies in our RV.

If you want to watch on your iPad screen, you don't even need airplay.
If you want to watch on a television screen, you need an AppleTV.
    In both cases...
If the movies are purchased, there is no need for an Internet connection to the outside world.  If they're rented, you need an Internet connection for the first minute or so that Apple knows that you're watching the movie.  I do not know if a rented movie can be stopped and restarted without an Internet connection.

  • HT204053 Can't find the movie in iTunes that I purchased on Apple TV.

Purchased a move via Apple TV. The Apple TV shows it's in the cloud, but I can't find it in iTunes to download onto my Mac.

If you rented it on your iPad then it should have downloaded into its Videos app - if it hasn't completed downloading then it might still show in the iTunes app in a Downloads tab in it (Downloads only shows if there are downloads happening), the iTunes app on your iPad is just the store.
If it doesn't show in Videos then does it show via the iPad's spotlight search screen : pull down the centre of the homescreen (not from the very top of the screen, that will open Notification Centre) ?
If you rented it on your computer's iTunes then you will have to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and use its Movies tab to move it over to the iPad - rentals are a one-time only download, so won't show on your iPad for redownloading.
If you can't find it on the device/computer that you rented it on then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

  • ITunes U not available via Apple TV?

Why is none of the iTunes U content available via the Apple TV? It is basically podcast material, whether audio or video, but I cannot find a way to listen/view it with my Apple TV. Any suggestions?

Michael, not relevant information for most people here.
    Paderichu, you're correct.
    FYI:
As I posted above, I've experience the same issue: iTunes Match cuts out at 25 seconds. All other functions on Apple TV are fine. All firmware is up-to-date. Have reset the Apple TV device. Spoke with Apple Support for abourt 20 minutes. No issues with my network. Went to Apple store and received a new Apple TV2 device. Result after all of this: iTunes Match cuts out at 25 seconds.
Update: An Apple product specialist suggested it might be an issue with one of the ports that Apple TV requires from ISPs. I called Comcast/Xfinity, they checked the aforementioned ports and told me everything is OK on their end.
    The problem remains.

  • New Home Movies from iTunes not showing up on Apple TV

I edit a lot of home movies in Final Cut. When I am done I use "Compressor" to convert the uncompressed movie files to an Apple TV format. The problem I am having now is that after I import them into iTunes they aren't showing up on either of my two Apple TVs when i use Home Sharing on my local network. I am able to play the movies in iTune and play them on my Apple TV by using AirPlay, but I would prefer not having to do this.
    A few things to note:
    1. Software is up to date on Apple TV
    2. I have "Share my library on my local network" checked and "Share my entire library" selected under SHARING in my iTunes preferences
    3. I am using Compressor 4.07. The preset option I use is " 1080 for Apple Devices (10Mbps)- Compatible with Apple TV (3rd gen.) and iPad (3rd Gen.)

Are the files in the library?
I notice that music and movie categories exist, and I can watch the movies I have converted using handbrake, and iMovie for home movies that we're added to my iTunes library....but... I want to sort this into kid movies, parent movies, and home video categories.  Apple TV will be so much more useful if I don't have to use my iPad to air play my home movies.  Browsing a single list of video that includes these 3 distinct functional categories is pretty lame.   Where is my apple freedom here?
I expect this fixed or more easily configured with the new Yosemite and iOS update. I hope there is an Apple TV update to make this better too.

  • Why rented movie on iTunes cannot be moved to Apple TV

I recently rented an HD movie using iTunes on my Mac. I waited for the complete download and then tried to move it to Apple TV. I tried this using iTunes, accessing Apple TV device and moving the icon of the movie to apple TV. iTunes does it and start sync but after a few seconds the icon moves back to the left and I do not see the movie in the Apple TV list.
I have to point out that also buying or renting directly from Apple TV doesn't work: it always asks to go to my computer to confirm payment...
I removed Apple TV from the device list on iTunes, and than syncronized it again, but nothing has changed (except for a few hours less in my life I could have spent better)...
    Thanks for any suggestions

    PS: iTunes version 11.1.3 (8)
    OS X version 10.8.5

Well yes I rented in HD, as many times it is stated on Apple website that Apple TV can display and show movies in HD. It is this the issue?
I have to rent it in SD?

Does anyone know how to import or copy my DVD movies to itunes? I am trying to import or copy them into itunes so I can watch them on my apple tv?

  • Rented Movies from iTunes won't transfer to Apple Tv

    Hey guys,
I'm on a pc...I know it's a swear word hear but I'm trying so hard to talk the wife into an iMac...getting close..LOL. Anyway, I've rented a couple movies via iTunes on my pc (running vista...cough cough..hack hack!!) and can't transfer them to my apple tv. When I click on the apple tv in the device column I only get summary and photo tabs. All the software for iTunes and Apple Tv are up to date and I have also deauthorized and reauthorized my itunes libary. Can anyone offer some help to get these to my apple tv. I really don't want to watch them on my computer screen.
    Thanks
    Stephan

    Morning athos441,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The black unit is the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV.
The 1st gen Apple TV (silver) is the one that you can move things over to the internal HD on the Apple TV.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:

  • Purchased Movie on iTunes won't sync to Apple TV (Gen 1)

I recently purchased (via a code from the BluRay box) Thor: The Dark World.  It plays fine on my Apple TV (without the Harddrive), but when I try to get it to sync to my original ATV (with a Harddrive) it will not sync.  Other movies work fine.  I've tried deleting it from iTunes and then re-downloading, but it still will not sync.  I can check the box for it to sync, but when I hit sync, I see it briefly state that it is syncing, then nothing happens and it is not on my ATV.  Any ideas on how to get this to sync?

maybe it's because the movie is in 1080P and the 1g appletv don't support that
if possible try converting it to 720P using handbrake (free converter tool)

  • TS2972 Why don't all the movies in iTunes library show up on Apple TV?

I have five movies that I purchase from the iTunes Store in my iTunes library.  They all show up on Apple TV except for "Fantastic Mr. Fox" which does not.  Any guesses why not?

If this is a silver AppleTV ensure the checkbox next to the Movie in the main library media categories is ticked.
If not, could it have been purchased under a different AppleID?

  • Movies in Itunes not showing up on Apple TV

I am finding that some movies which I have added to Itunes and play fine on my Mac, do not appear on my Apple TV.  They are mpeg4 with the H.264 codec, which is what all my videos are.  I have tried rebooting the ATV and also restarting Itunes on my Mac, but still the same thing.  I have a category which contains 7 items, but only 5 of them appear on the ATV.  It's driving me a bit crazy!  Hope someone has an idea about what to do.
    Thanks!

RogerOut makes some good points and this feels to me like a ham fisted attempt by Apple to take control of my media in a way that I don't want.  The stuff it is choosing to call "home movie" is 100% legit movies, but not ones I bought through the itunes store.  So I load a movie and then it mysteriously does not show up in my Apple TV because it has defaulted to "home movie".
What I still fail to understand is what the heck is the purpose of this apart from annoying users who's stuff now does not appear on ATV without explanation or warning.  So glad to have this forum to help me, but why should I have to do this to figure out how to overcome a stupid thing that Itunes is doing to my movie (it is a movie!)?
As I say though, what possible benefit is it for a users media to be labelled in this way and anyway, why does calling it a home movie make it unreadable in ATV?

  • Bought movie on iTunes can't AirPlay to Apple tv Sound but no picture

    Hi
I have bought an apple tv today for the main use of buying movies.  I have it all connected and soon find out I can only rent not buy from the tv.  So I decided to buy from iTunes on my new iPad - the HD movie, with the intention of air playing it to my tv. This works with utube so shouldn't be an issue.
Unfortunately I only get the sound no pictures come up at all.  How do I fix this?

This seemed odd, since I rented the movie from the itunes store. And, in fact, once the downloading finished (it takes a long time on this old ipad( I tried again and the movie -audio and video - both appeared on my tv.

  • Playing Purchased Movies from iTunes to my iPhone via Homesharing

When I try to play movies purchased from the iTunes Store on my iPhone 3GS via Homesharing, I get  message saying the movie is loading - but it never does. However, when I play movies encoded with HandBreak, the play without any problems.
    Any ideas?

Sorry... bumping this as I'm still having the same problem.
