Under iOS6, movies not purchased via iTunes would appear in content list and could be played. Under
iOS7, the same movie appears in the "on my phone" list in iTunes, takes space on my phone (iPhone4 running 7.02),
but the Apple's video report "no content". Additionally, TV shows appear in the video app eventhough
I did not check the "Sync TV movies" section in iTunes. Is my only option to run VLC on these
movies (non-iTunes)? Also, how do you remove TV shows from the iPhone.

Does the count in Settings > General > About > Videos indicate that they are on the iPad ?
Have you tried closing the Videos app completely and seeing if they show when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

iTunes tells me I've already rented the movies but I can't find them anywhere on my iPad.

A long shot, but try restarting your iPad (hold down the Sleep button until you get the red "swipe to power off" button, do so, and start it back up). That sometimes gets the files to appear. If not, and no one else here has other suggestions, go here:
iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

Movie not playing in Videos app

Hi!
I bought a movie on the iTunes store (Monthy Python's +Life of Brian+, even though I'm not sure that might be helpful to know) and synced it to my iPod touch (2nd G). Up to then, everything seems fine, the space taken up by the movie appears on the barline at the bottom of the iPod screen on iTunes. But when I get into the Videos app on the iPod, it says I have no videos at all. I've tried restarting the iPod, restauring it too, uninstalling the video and reinstalling it, but nothing works.
For what I read, such a movie (.m4v, video format H.264) should be read properly, shouldn't it? It was downloaded from the iTunes store! Can somebody help me there?

even if it's an HD, there should have been another video, the standard one, is downloaded so that the video you bought can be played in your ipod touch. HD is for PC's, and apple tv's.
I have almost the same problem. It's just that the movie i bought from itunes is shown in the videos, but everytime i try to watch it, "This movie could not be played." pops up.
I tried everything. nothing happend. restore, deauthorize/authorize, delete it from my ipod, then put it back again, turn my ipod off for one day.

Im just guessing but it seems like you would have to get your movie into the correct folder on a computer then use iTunes to sync it to your iPad. If you've synced to a computer and have movies then on your computer should be a folder with the movie in it. You could export your iMovie to something like Dropbox then download from Dropbox to the folder you think it needs to be in the sync your iPad again. Again this is just a guess. Others may have a better answer.

If it is from the iTunes store you can watch it from iCloud on ATV. If it is not from the iTunes store the next best option is to add it to your local copy of iTunes and have ATV play it from there. You can always do it from AirPlay but that is a very error prone and degrages the quality.

You are trying to download the apps again in the purchased tab of the App Store and you are using the same Apple ID - correct?
If the apps show as being installed - but you can't tap on the cloud icon to download them again - Try restarting and/or rebooting the iPad and then see if you can download the apps again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that still doesn't work then try this.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to download again.
Also - make sure that you do not have restrictions enable - Settings>General>Restrictions. You could have installing apps turned off.

I wanted to do the opposite. Put a music video in movies. The original purchase had the option greyed out but I had gone to the advanced menu to create an iphone/ipod version. Then both were showing on my iphone. I was able to change the new version to movie and now I have it both places in itunes but only one version on my iphone. I had to do this because my iphone kept re-downloading it as though it were a new item. We'll see if this fixes that issue but I thought it was strange that I could not change the original copy. The altered copy has a lower bit rate but it looks and sounds the same to me.

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com). so, your browser must also accept cookies to enable these downloads.

The latest episode in it is 23 July: the later episodes haven't made it into the feed so either the connection to Feedburner has failed or there is something about the recent episodes which is causing them not to make it into the feed. It's not obvious from looking at the web page what this might be.

Apps downloaded in the iTunes Store (either as updates to existing apps or as new) do not appear under the 'Apps' tab in iTunes.
iTunes requests my Apple ID and password and the files will download afterward. However, they do not appear in the 'Apps' tab. This is confirmed by right-clicking >> Get Info. No update to the version and new apps do not appear.
Of note, I am running Lion an iMac 3.06 Core 2 Duo w/ iTunes 10.7.
My iTunes Library is located on a Mac Mini Server running Lion Server. I've checked permissions and every folder and library file is set to 'Read & Write' so it doesn't appear to be a permissions issue.
Any ideas?

Also, I've tried individually downloading an app flagged for update in iTunes without any luck.

I think the setting you're looking for is within the iWork apps; for example, Settings>Pages>Use iCloud>On. Also be sure to set Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data to On.

Movie not appearing in the Videos App

So I started to download a movie on my iPad, I had to pause the download for a while and when I started it again it acted as if I hadn't downloaded anything at all. I then tried to restart the entire download so i deleted part of the movie from the Videos app then it said I didn't have enough room so i deleted other things on my iPad. It then started to download. However the movie has not even appeared in the Videos app even though it is still downloading. i have done a search for the movie on my iPad to see where it is being downloaded to but nothing appears. How do I get the movie to show up in the Videos app?

Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.
I've set preferences in Mail for 'Inbox Only' and 'All Mailboxes', sent test mail from ISP webmail and Google (Mail is not setup to receive from this account) - still no notifications.
I had previously used Growl (v1.4) and GrowlMail very successfully (with 10.7), but while upgrading to Mountain Lion I was informed that GrowlMail was incompatible so I deleted it.
While testing this problem of not receiving Mail Notifications I have disabled Growl and rebooted.

Home video not appearing in Videos/Movies after syncing with first generation iPad.

Why is my home video in Shared Libraries but not Movies after syncing with first generation iPad? It appears in Movies on iPad2 and iPad3. I've already changed Media Kind to "Movie." I didn't have this problem 1 month ago when syncing a new video. Is there a software update issue? iPad says software is up-to-date.

The video app has 4 tabs across the top. If they are not hiding in one of the tabs, i suspect they are missing the type identifier and the app doesnt know where to show them. Glas that at least you can find them.
Next time you sync, take a look in i tunes, and see if they are fully labeled there. I would not be surprised if one the i tunes fields is the key for the pad video app to know which tab to put the, under.
