Movies not saved in Keynote file problem

I created a new Keynote presentation on Tuesday on my iMac at home. It had a slide with 4 movies overlapping on the same slide, the next slide had two animated GIFs, the next slide had one of the animated GIFs from the previous slide repeated on it. The check box for copy audio and movies into document was checked.
Here's the weird thing—when I transfered the Keynote file to my laptop to take to school and projected it in class the next day, one of the movie files (from the slide with four) could not be found, Keynote warned me that both animated GIFs could not be found, and the repeated GIF could not be found (according to the warning at the startup of the presentation. However, when played, the slide show had all four movies showing and playing, both GIF files were playing on the first slide, but the duplicate GIF one the next slide was missing. I was thoroughly confused as to what was going on.
When I control clicked the Keynote file to look at its embedded contents, all the movies and GIFs were present, but there was no way to locate them for Keynote at the beginning of the show.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any idea how to "cure" it?
Thanks, this one sure has me stumped!

What you're looking for is startup.xml, which will be in the
application data directory for the current user. On my Vista
machine, the path looks like this:
Drive:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Media
Encoder\startup.xml
that's where all of the current UI settings are stored. So
you know, startup.xml is UTF-16 encoded and it needs to stay that
way, and (for some reason) there needs to be a blank line at the
end of the file.
Hope it helps

  • Why is Photoshop Elements 8 not saving a psd file as a pdf now that I purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?

Why is Adobe Elements 8 not saving a psd file as a pdf after I started using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro instead of my CS3 Pro? Both Adobe software is up to date and before I switched to Acrobat XI Pro, it worked fine. Help please...

You aren't talking to Adobe here. But still...Is it by any chance asking for a QUALIFYING product? If so, you purchased an UPGRADE and now need to give the serial number of the OLDER product (Acrobat 9 or X) which you must own to be able to use the upgrade. Simples.

  • Keynote 2.0.2 eWill Not Open a Keynote File

HELP!! i'm desperate! A keynote file i worked on last night will not open today. The file size is 74MB, with pix, graphics, etc. Does anyone know how to get through the back door so that i can, at the minimum, print out the slides? URGENT - prsentation is tomorrow!!

I've tried what you have suggested, and still couldn't get the file to open. Strange how not all the pictures in the power point not found in the Show Package Contents.
What i think happened was that i had the file open for two weeks, adding data, saving, so when i finally had a computer crash, the file didn't launch. Could be a jpg or tiff, but can't locate all of them.
Is there a way to get the text entered into KeyNote? What file holds the text? Once i have that, i can recontruct.
    Thanks again!

  • IPhoto 11 not saving edits to file

Hi - I'm using iPhoto 11 on my iMac (new user) and I can make changes to photos (crop/rotate etc) which are reflected in iPhoto but then they are not saved in the original files in the Pictures folder.  I have tried to delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist file as some other forums have directed but it makes no difference. This is a problem if I am then trying to upload them to Truprint or editting them for posterity.
    All help appreciated, thanks

I can make changes to photos (crop/rotate etc) which are reflected in iPhoto but then they are not saved in the original files in the Pictures folder.
Of course not. Iphoto is designe to always preserve your original file. It never does anything to it. Your edits are ll carried out on a copy of the originls file.
Further, iPhoto is a database and you never, ever access the files via the Finder.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Keynote 6.2.2 will not open a keynote file created in 6.2.2

I was sent a keynote file by a work colleague and we both have Keynote 6.2.2 on our MacBook Pro's. My MacBook will not open the file sent by my colleague even though it was created in version 6.2.2 I get an error message saying I need to download the latest version from the App store. Even after trying for a later version the App store says I already have the latest version installed... any advice please?

Tried this and is did not work.  Created the file in 6.5.2 yesterday.  Keynote will not open it from 6.5.2.  will not open from 5.1.1.  Zipped it, sent to myself.  Uncompress - will not open.  Sent to different email address - will not open.  Tried everything in this forum.  Went to app store, would not let my purchase because current version is latest.  Think I purchased some version for Iphone and Ipad in desperation - doesn't seem to have been downloaded but waws charged for it.  Really really frustrated with the new Apple - where nothing works - If I can't get this file open - another 14 hours of work and then what - have to leave open forever? - never able to use except on my imac?  Please help.

  • Some settings not saved in Presets file

I'd like to setup my fme environment with preset Xml files
(and with some dirty scripting hacks, we make the app load them
    automatically).
Unfortunately, not all the Device settings are saved. There
is a tuner specific Settings tab whose settings are not saved. So
if I want to change the actual TV channel I have to use the GUI.
Other settings (like crossbar_input) are found in the XML file.
Is there a way to set entries that are not saved by the GUI
directly in the XML presets file and make fme use them?

  • Edited RAW files not saved as .JPEG files

Before I updated to iPhoto8, when I edited my RAW files they were saved to JPEG files automatically. From the Help documentation, I believe that this should still be happening..... but it isn't.
Do I have a setting wrong? Anyone know?
    Thanks.

Check the entry "About nondestructive editing" in iPhoto Help. With iPhoto '08 you will not see the "save" progress bar unless the photo was previously edited in iPhoto 6. Here is a portion of the text:
Nondestructive editing allows you to try different adjustments and effects at will⎯there’s no danger that successive edits and saves will degrade your photo’s quality. You’re never more than one version away from your original photo. Instead of saving a new version over the previous one every time you edit a photo, iPhoto ’08 simply remembers all your changes as an edit list.
When you reopen your edited photo to view or do more work, iPhoto then reapplies those edits to the original version. You’ll see where you left off, so you can make incremental changes from there.
IMPORTANT: For photos imported to earlier versions of iPhoto and never edited, nondestructive editing will apply in iPhoto ’08.
However, for photos imported to earlier versions and edited either in iPhoto or in a separate application such as Photoshop, nondestructive editing does not apply.

  • Outlook 13 mail id is not saved in nk2 file

    Dear Team,
I have recently upgraded outlook-7 to outlook-13, But after importing old NK2 file from outlook-7 to outlook-13,
i can see all my old NK2 file contacts.
But the problem is after importing old NK2 file, it is not adding  any new contacts to the old one .
if am clearing everything by command  (Outlook.Exe /cleanautocompletecache) and freshly saving any contacts it is happening.
    need your suggestion on this.....
    Regards,
    Rahulsama

Outlook 2013 no longer uses the nk2-file for caching recently emailed contacts (neither did Outlook 2010). Instead, it is storing this cache within the mailbox itself.

  • Excel not saving or open files

I recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and after I installed all programs again include Office 2004, I've been having problem opening and saving files in excel. When I try to save a document it gives this message "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file 'user:Documents'. And when I try to open a document it says " 'user document.xls' cannot be accessed." I removed the office twice and reinstalled it again.
I have no idea how to fix this problem.

Sounds like a permissions issue. Run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Otherwise, since this forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office, you should really consider posting issues with Office on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products as they would be focused more toward the issue than an Apple forum and there are Microsoft appointed MVPs there to assist.

  • Lion not saving settings, library privileges problem?

Yesterday I did a clean install off Lion after running the last 3 developer previews without any big problems.
After the clean install I started restoring data and setting back, but only what I needed !!
    For example:
I restored the e-mail settings and two folders and opened the mail app.
After putting in all the password of the accounts I edit the new mail sound.
The sound would not work, also some settings in the e-mail accounts I edited would not save.
Only after I opened mail and removed the settings file and closed mail it was saved and it looks like it's saving every time.
Just now I setup iStat menus 3 and made everything as I like it in the menu bar.
But after restarting to complete a other installation the normal clock was back and the objects from iStat menus wore gone.
The are also some finder settings that will not save.
Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it ??

    Hi,
You may have solved your issues by now, but I have similar issues with iStat Menus ver 3.18. It is suppose to be Lion Compatible, but I'm finding it very buggy. I get some console errors, mainly relating to menucracker which they use. Searching around the web so other users with similar issues. The problem (at least as I understand it) is that it fails to save changes to the pref file. Most errors are seen on clean Lion installations. If you upgrade from SL, it will generally work. I've sent them some error reports, but have heard nothing back.

  • Audio does not embed in keynote file

Added audio to an existing Keynote presentation sometimes fails to 'stick' although embedding has been set in Preferences. It works as long as the .key file does not move relative to the source music but does not if I send it to the notebook I take for doing shows.

Am having perhaps a related issue. When I record narration and share to QT or even iWed, GarageBand won't take the Keynote with the narration, iWeb won't take it when you tell it to either copy sound, or mix sound. iWeb takes it only if there is no audio.

  • IMac will not boot, hard drive file problem? Can't install OS in 2nd part.

The iMac will not boot. The Apple displays on the screen, the cursor spins for awhile, and then it loops into a reboot effort.
Last night, I was doing a lot of custom file sharing settings using the include enclosed folders option at the bottom of the Get Info window.
Question 1: Could that file sharing process have messed things up?
In an effort to get things going........ A few weeks back, I used Disk Utility to create a 2nd partition, with the intent of installing Ubuntu Linux there. I never attempted the install, as far as I can remember, while playing with the Ubuntu Live CD. So, I thought I would install 10.5.6 from the CD in the 2nd partition. But I get an error message that says "The installer could not create the folder "/Volumes/Ubuntu 9.10/BaseSystem.pkg.161nDNDdQ.""
Question 2: I also shared that partition, could that have caused the OS install failure?
Question 3: If I understand the book correctly, I can try to install the OS from the CD on the 1st partition, and not lose my data, correct? Unfortunately, I don't have any backup for the data, as I don't own any drives large enough yet to accommodate the data on the drive.
Question 4: Anyone have any other thoughts as to what ent wrong?

    Hi, Grant.
Sometimes, it just pays to think on a problem. I awoke thinking, if it will boot the OS X install CD, it ought to boot my Ubuntu Live CD. And then, maybe I can change permissions on the first partition. As soon as I thought that, it occurred to me, if the problems are with the permissions, what if I used the OS X disk, and erased (formatted) the Ubuntu partition. That should set all the permissions on that partition back to default. Would OS X install then to the Ubuntu partition?
You better believe it did!! I'm typing this from the Mac after updating my 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 in the 2nd partition, and I'm booting from the 2nd partition.
I then did as you suggested, and from the Mac, I repaired the permissions to the first partition. But, the result was the same, there are a few permissions that do not match, and Disk Utility cannot, does not, or will not correct them.
I'm currently downloading the 10.5.8 combo update .dmg file. My thought is to burn that to a disk, and then install it over the version in partition 1. And trust that the current installation on partition 1 does not have any cross linked files that will destroy some data.
I do have some old ATA IDE drives I can hook externally to the Mac, and copy some of the information I have from the Mac to those drives before doing the 10.5.8 install.
Can you think of a better solution?

  • My Word docs are NOT saving as PDF files.

I go to "File, Print, PDF, Save as PDF, save doc to my desktop, click Save"...it "processes" then chimes alerting me it's completed, but the PDF is NO WHERE on my desktop (or anywhere on my laptop for that matter!!)
The interesting thing about this problem ONLY happens when I CREATE that particular Word document. If someone emails me a Word doc and I download it and then open it up in Word, I am then ABLE to save it as a PDF. Soo, I tried emailing the file I created to myself...downloaded it, and tried to save as a PDF, same thing happens as before....no where to be found.
Helpppp. I am SO frustrated. THANKS

Okay - could be a bad file or a document with a goofy format, size, or table of contents snafu.
I had issues with Acrobat 9.x with Word 2010 (Windows).  I stopped using Acrobat and just started doing what you're doing - saving direct from Word > PDF - and haven't had an issue since (other than bloated file sizes even saving as "minimum").
So my advice is to look at your document.  It could be a TOC thing, or a large image, or something else messing up the engine.
Remember, Office 2007, 2010, and 2011 all save DOCX as XML files.  So the "converter" (save-as-PDF) is rendering XML > PDF.

  • Downloaded album art not saved in mp3 file?

When I use iTunes to download missing album art, that art is not being saved in the MP3 file. I verified this behavior by checking that the file timestamp and size didn't change after the art was successfully downloaded and displayed within iTunes. As a second check, I also deleted the music from my library and re-added it, and the art work is missing again.
Only if I drag the jpg image to the blank artwork window does it seem to "stick".
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, if you download album art through iTunes and then later manually add art to the tag, the downloaded version is replaced. I think it still remains in the folder on your computer, but it does get replaced in the native song file. What I'll do is download the artwork from iTunes, then copy it and paste it directly into the tag for a permanent "attachment" to the song.

  • Lyrics Not Saving on iTunes files on AirDisk

I've got my music files on an external hard drive connected to my Airport Extreme via the USB AirDisk. I haven't been able to get iTunes to save any of the lyrics when I add the lyrics in the "Get Info --> Lyrics" area. Any clues why not or how to fix this?

Hmm I've just noticed this as well. Anything you enter in the Lyrics panel of a song's Info is gone as soon as you close the Info Pane or move to another song. Songs that had lyrics attached prior to me moving my library have retained them. No issue with Artwork or other tags that I can tell.
I have my iTunes library on a Time Capsule.
