Movies on a new 80gb ipod

does anyone know when i can download movies on my new 80gb ipod. The uk website says it not available yet, the american website won't let me
Any ideas?

they haven't opened the UK movie store yet.. i think i heard its coming around christmas maybe even later? somebody will have to clarify that though..
so for now you'll only be able to get things you already own on dvd and rip them to your computer.. or you can find them somewhere else online, but then you will probably have to convert them to mp4..

Can dock connector from older iPod be used with new 80GB iPod?

I just purchased a new 80GB iPod after my old one (scroll wheel, 4 buttons) finally gave up the ghost. I know that I can't sync using the Firewire cable but I'm wondering if the original dock connector will work if connected to the new USB cable. Will I be able to use it just as a charging stand or will it allow me to sync as well?

The dock will work fine for both charging and syncing with the new USB cable, all the dock does is work as a souped up extension to the dock connector, as well as giving you line out of course. You may have a little trouble fitting your new iPod into the dock.
Despite being pretty much the same size as my 4th generation 20gb iPod, the dock connector was slightly further towards the front of my new 80gb one, so I couldn't get it in, and the squarer corners on the front didn't help either. At the moment I am using the dock adaptor supplied, balanced on the dock which does the trick, albeit slightly unelegantly. I haven't got around to looking for the 40gb dock cover that came with it, though I'm hoping this will be deep enough to fit in.
You'll need to use a (very) slim screwdriver or similar to prise the original fitting off the dock, but it can be done without damaging either if you take it slowly and carefully. There are clips of about 1cm in the centre of each side except the back. On the back there are clips of about 4mm either side of the slot that the cable goes into.

Does the new 80GB iPod scratch just as easily ast the 60GB?

Brand New 80GB Ipod connects on and off with my usb cable

hi, i just got a new 80gb ipod for xmas, and when i plug the usb cable to my ipod, it connects sometimes, and sometimes doesnt, and when it does, it disconnects sometimes too, i usually have to keep moving into different usb ports and one will work, then not work again, then work again later. i even tried my friends cable and its the same thing, i think somethings wrong with the port in the ipod, can anyone help ?

Turn it off. If it got wet somehow, you may try drying your ipod off. The slow method would be a sunny window sill. You could use a hair dryer on LOW, pointing it at the contacts. When it drys out, charge itand try a hard-reset. If it still doesn't function properly.... ?

Unable to register new 80GB ipod

I just bought a new 80GB ipod. Believe it or not, but when I try to register it, it tells me "The postal code you entered is not valid for [?]."
I kid you not. This is despite the fact that the postal code is correct and I've tried it with and without spaces. No go.
Also, after hooking it up to the USB 2 card on my Win 2000 PC, Windows wanted to reboot after loading a driver. However, the Ipod displayed a message saying "Do not disconnect." I decided to reboot.
I mistakenly decided to let the Ipod autosynch with my Itunes library, which exceeds the 74 GB capacity of the ipod. It gave a message saying that the Itunes collection exceeded the storage capacity of the ipod but that it would load it up to full capacity.
According to Windows Explorer, the Ipod now has something like 72.6 GB of data on it, yet it still tells me "Do not disconnect." It's been on and connected to my computer for about 20 hours now.
I also bought the 2-year extended warranty. How do I get documentation from Apple, proving that I have this extra warranty?

I don't know if it's a known problem, but there were 2 others yesterday who ran into the same issue. One ended up just registering the product using this link rather than doing it via iTunes.

New 80GB iPod Classic Reboot Loop.... With A Twist??

First of all, let me just say that I've searched for hours upon hours trying to find the answer to this questions before making this post, so please bare with me
So, I have the 80GB iPod Classic, and was really happy with it. I had to get it because my 5th Gen iPod was stolen, and found that I really like all the features it has, yadda yadda. So basically, I had zero problems.
Then a few days ago, it started acting funny. It would just stop at the beginning of random songs and stop playing. I couldn't figure out why, so would just skip the song and listen to the next one. This was all fine and dandy until the next time I plugged my iPod into my laptop.
It has started on the coveted reboot loop, showing the Apple logo, starting to start up, but then failing, then starting the cycle over again.
Reading other posts, the way to fix this is to plug the iPod into the computer, put it into disk mode, then reformat.
My problem is that it won't reformat! I have no problem losing the music at this time, I can get it all back on there, but the stupid thing won't actually reformat itself!
When I plug it into the computer it says different things. If I plug it in while it is already in disk mode, it says "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod." If I plug it into the computer while it is still going through the reboot cycle it comes up with the message, "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "MELISSA'S I". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings." Then it shows up in iTunes, but only under the name "iPod" instead of "Melissa's iPod", says n/a for the capacity, but then still has the correct software version (1.0.3) and serial number. I can then click restore, and the computer does its thing, then tells me it has be reformatted and to leave it plugged into the computer, then it will show back up in iTunes once it has restarted. The problem lies in that it never makes it through the restart to become listed in iTunes again until I put it into disk mode again. It seems that everyone else's problem is solved when they put it into disk mode, but that's just not working for me....
I have honestly tried everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, tried another computer, charged it with a wall charger, went through all the iPod properties, turned the iPod service off and on, did resets, went through everything possible in the Apple help, and all I want to do is listen to my music!!!
Any suggestions, or am I resigned to spending hours on the phone with Apple, or sending it back to them?

Alright, so I finally decided to just call Apple and see what was going on. I got talking to someone and explained my problem, about how the iPod wouldn't reformat and such, and he told me that something was wrong with the connections or something inside the iPod. Which in short means my iPod is dead, lol. Since it's only 2 months old though they're going to replace it, so they're sending me a box to ship my iPod back in, then once they recieve my iPod they're just going to send me a brand new one (and yes, a new one, not a refurbished one, I asked) and not even bother trying to just repair my old one, which leads me to believe that he's heard this problem already multiple times....
So basically I should be getting a new iPod in 10 days he said. Now I get to spend my break reimporting all my cd's.... score. This will be my 4th iPod... you'd think I'd have learned by now.. but no... lol.

New 80gb ipod resets over and over

My 2 day old 80gb ipod will only run with itunes 7 or higher.
I loaded my library & plugged the thing in to synch.
Half an hour later, when it finishes, the pod just goes into a reset loop (logo appears, goes off....)
I tried all the Rs as advised by this site, but none worked at all.
I tried retro updating to itunes 6 & an earlier updater, again, nothing.
It isn't the pod, as the same happened with my 2gb nano.
The only way to avoid it is to stop the updating (click on the little x) before ejecting it.
But then you need to wait until it is updating the last few songs (hopefully not ones you want to listen to)to do it.
What can I do to use my device correctly?

Have you looked at the troubleshooting document? "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod
Considering your iPod is very new, if the problem continues I'd advise you contact Apple or your retailer about a replacement.

Is it safe to buy a new 80GB Ipod?

I currently have a Nano, but plan to buy an 80GB Ipod. does anyone know if you have to have Itunes 7 for the new Ipod to work. With all the problems I've read about regarding Itunes 7 - i'm a bit wary of upgrading from Itunes 6 and losing all my music and podcasts i have stored.
Will I be wasting my time buying the new Ipod right now and finding that it won't work?

Get winamp and when you are installing uncheck device support.
Then go and download mlipod (a plugin for winamp). No more iTunes yay!

New 80GB ipod keeps crashing Vista!! Help

I've tried looking for this problem in the forum to no avail.
Basically I ahve just bought a new PC with Windows Vista. iTunes 7.0 worked fine since install. When i tried to sync the new 80GB 5th Gen ipod that i have just bought it crashed Vista. I then downloaded itunes 7.1 to solve the problem but alas it is still happeneing.
When ipod is plugged in it begins to sync, but then freezes everything in vista, and turns toa blue screen informing me that there is a hardware problem and windows is going to restart.
I would really appreciate any help, from anyone in regard to this, as I am a loss what to do.

hmmm. rather a lot of different things can cause that one on XP:
Troubleshooting "Stop 0x00000077" or "KERNELSTACK_INPAGEERROR"
but the fact that you're getting it on Vista is a bit of a wild card.
okay, let's try getting a minidump of the crash to the Apple Engineers for a look. (that may help with identifying which driver/file on the system is causing the crash.)
let's also capture a minidump of the crash and send it to someone who can interpret minidumps.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
- A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
- The username you are using in the thread

New 80GB iPOD mounts and then spinning ball on dismount :(

Brand new ipod for my MBPro. Plug it in and works fine and then when I try and eject, about 50% of the time it hangs and I get the spining ball and everything basically is screwed.
Doesn't happen on my other machine (Macbook) or with other ipods I own.
All software is up to date.

New 80gb ipod classic. Can't get itunes to sync music at all. HELP!

I have a brand new ipod classic. It is fully charged and is connected to the computer. When the screen to register my ipod came up i clicked register later. Then the ipod software license agreement came up, so i read it, checked the box and clicked save. After clicking save, i figured it would go to a new screen like it did with my old ipod, but it still just stays on the license agreement screen. i have saved the license agreeement at least 5 times and the screen never changes. i have tried ejecting and reconnecting my ipod, switching the plug to another usb outlet and even restarting my computer. I checked for updates on the softwares to make sure i was up to date and i am. I don't know if this is an itunes or ipod issue. This is my second ipod, so i thought i knew how to troubleshoot and get around pretty much everything, but in this case i'm totally lost! Any ideas?

I should've been more clear...it's not a monitor problem...i just can't get the software license agreement page to go away. After i check the box and click save and save it to my computer the screen won't change to the main page thing for my ipod so i can't even start syncing music until i can get that page to show up. I know how to sync my music once i get to that page, but i just don't know how many more times i have to save that stupid license agreement.

How do I add Videos to my NEW 80GB iPod? HELP! I've been trying for days!!!

I purchased a music video and two TV episodes from iTunes. It a long time to download and after it was finished, it disappeared from iTunes. It wasn't found in iTunes or on my iPod. I also downloaded videos from a third party website, got the videos on my iPod but when I went to play them, it played as an audio file with no video showing. How do I resolve this?

Since you have a new computer, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
Now select Music in the source list on the left side of the iTunes window. If your purchase isn't there, go back to the menu bar click Store / Check for Available Downloads.
Connect your iPod to your computer. You should be able to sync your iTunes media.

New 80GB iPod, New PowerBook - HELP transfer songs

OK - I feel like someone has to have an answer to this. Here's the deal. I just got a PowerBook G4 and a new iPod. I have been using a Dell PC laptop and have an iPod mini that I've been using for a coupul years now.
Question: How do I get all the songs on my PC/Mini onto my PowerBook/new iPod???
I've read that I can't go from PC to mac with one iPod - I think I can transfer all the songs I burned easily but it's the ones I bought I'm freakin out about...
