Movies on iWeb

I just uploaded a short video onto a movie page in iWeb. The video plays full screen in edit mode on iWeb, but the screen is half the size when viewed after publishing to my site.
Anyone have this problem or know the answer to fix it?
TIA
dolphin

iWeb writes page code to display QuickTime content inside a browser window. To play at full screen would require either a QuickTime Media Link (.qtl) and a "link to file" setting or to use "Poster Movie" style page.
An example of a Media Link file:
http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/.Public/Tiny_Movie.qtl
A Poster Movie is a method of "hiding" the true source movie so that it doesn't play (and download) until a viewer "clicks" on a QuickTime image that launches the QuickTime Player (not the browser plug-in). Using the QuickTime Player allows "Presentation" of the file. Presentation properties allow full screen playback be stored right in the QuickTime file.

Where are you looking?
Here:
User>Library>Application Support>iWeb
Keep in mind that your Library folder is hidden by default in Mountain Lion.
To find it, hold down the option key and choose the Go menu in the Finder.
You might also want to try posting your question over in the iWeb area.

There is no license required for iWeb. Just do a Wyodor suggested and you'll be ready to go. If you're running Lion however, consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

• Quicktime 7 Screen movie in iWeb '09

Is there a way to include a Quictime 7 Screen Movie in iWeb '09?
I tried dragging the file onto the page I want it to appear and exported the changes but on the actual page it just shows the "Q" marker.
I then tried uploading the actual movie file to the directory that goes with the page and even the root of the site. Neither would allow me to view the site from the site.
Any ideas?

• Can one post movies via iWeb which cannot be saved by the viewer?

Does anyone know of a way to make movies on iWeb "view only" and not savable by the viewer of the website? This would enable me to post movies which I want to show but don't want them to have to have access to the file to use as they please.

If someone wants a video, he gets the video...
There's no full protection... One way or another you get all you want... And there are also many tools out there to grab stuff from websites and so on...
However using flash is better than using quicktime under this aspect too...
(Quicktime you just have to save as source and that's it...)
I don't know any way sorry...

• Quicktime Movies and iWEB

Anyone having problems posting movies in iWEB. I
posted a few nad when I launch the site it won't
platback.
I have. I posted a topic on it and haven't gotten any suggestions. Movies, audio and video will work fine on the .Mac site, but won't work on the non-mac site. 1.01 worked fine on both but since upgranding I haven't been able to figure out the problem. Here are the addresses:
http://www.salemcityfire.com
http://web.mac.com/jpelura3
the "Test" page is a small audio file. The "Movies" page is a rather large file. The Fire Calls page has some audio too, that's more like a podcast.
I would appreciate any help and am not sure if the OP is publishing to .Mac or another site.

• Can someone tell me how to move an iweb file from one mac to another?

I was told by a mac genius a year ago but I can't remember how it was done.

On one computer, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ as the path, and move the Domain item inside to the corresponding location on the other computer.

• How do I move my iweb site to another account?

I have built my wife a web site on my computer on my .mac account using iweb. But I want to move it over to my wife's .mac account on her computer. Essentially to have it live on her computer and not mine. How do I do this? HELP!
Thanks a million.

All the information for iWeb is stored under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb and then it is the domain.sites file that you want.
If you want to manage your site on another computer, then you need to copy this file. Make sure that you don't delete this file. If you do, you have lost your website and will have to re-build as iWeb cannot import anything from your published site on iDisk.
Copy this file over and then as Mireille said, you can create another user account on your wife's machine if you need to under System Preferences Accounts.
If it is your wife's machine however, then you won't need another account. All you do is place the copy of the domain.sites file in the same place on her computer i.e. User/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Then all you need to do is log into her .Mac account on her computer. Just go to System Preferences and .Mac and enter her .Mac account details and it will be logged into her account. When you then publish, it will publish to her .Mac account on her computer.

• No video when embedding a QT movie in iWeb 08

Subject says it. When I drag a QT movie to the "Movie" page of iWeb 08 I see no video, but it plays the audio just fine. If I copy that movie and then paste it back into QT player it plays just fine. I did trash the iWeb prefs and reinstalled to no avail.
I have posted this question on the iWeb 08 forum but got no reply. What's up with this? It makes iWeb 08 useless.
Using QT 7.2.

Hey, QTKirk,
Interestingly, the video can be seen on the published site. It's only within iWeb that the video doesn't appear. Oh, and BTW, the iWeb 2.0.1 didn't fix it.
The site is at http://web.mac.com/heuring/Site/MovieTest.html
Whether the problem is within QT or iWeb remains unknown. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

• Having trouble with html snippets and movies in iweb 09

Hi I have built a site iweb2.0.4 and recently moved it onto my new machine with iweb 09 on. Basically I have been putting in videos that I have exported for web out of Quicktime. In the past I have simply added an html snippet code like this in <iframe src="http://evileducation.org/stammuraifinalcomp/ReadMe.html" style="width: 340px; height: 285px"; scrolling="no" controller="true" frameborder="0">
I edit the ReadMe.html based on a tutorial I saw and it loads the movie after pressing the "Click to play" button. Now in 09 when I put the code in to the snippet it just shows a Quicktime symbol with a question mark. if you check the link below you can see the videos with the best I have managed to do so far which is get the new movies on but they both autoplay (I have linked in this instance to the 4kb .mov in each folder rather than the readme.html.). I don't want to just drag a video in I would like the options to view on phone or on computer etc and not for them to autoplay. Is there a new/ different way to do this now. Surely it shouldn't be this hard to get the export for web in Quicktime and iWeb to work together? The frustrating thing is if you check the link below the old movies work fine still it's just the 2 new ones. Soz for the long one!

• Movies in iWeb not working

Exported iMovie to the desktop using "Share to Web" selection. Then ran it through Lillipot to set the "Fast Start" option. Dragged the movie into a new iWeb page & posted. But, alas it does not play until the entire movie is downloaded (Fast Start" not working). The same movie is on my old Homepage on .Mac & works as expected. Any ideas?
Homepage link is:

iWeb link is:

Over on the top right side of this page there's an area where you can search the discussions. Type "Auto Play Movies" in the search area and it will post results of any discussion with those words included. Narrow your search to just the iWeb forum and you'll surely find your answer.
Hover over the "Auto-Play" link I provided in my first post. It will send you to a page just the same as if you typed "auto Play Movies" in the search located on the right side of this page, restricted to the iWeb forum.
Go a step further and try it on Google

• Movies on iWeb 09

I just finish creating my first iWeb 09 web and after getting through the learning curve, I found it to be a good & simple intro tool to creating websites.
But, I did run into two problems:
1) all hyperlink colors changed from page to page, even though I was consistent in assigning the colors with each page, and within each page.
2) one web page, started with a elagent blank page, has three simple movies/animation. They work fine in the iWeb 09 application, but when published to my local drive, I have a problem. Viewing the local publication on Safari, I see only one working movie. The other two have an icon indicating the file did not load. Yet, if I right click the icons I can download the file to by system.
Is there a limit of number of movies per page? what about podcasts?
suggestions? and No I have not published it to my GoDaddy account yet.

Here is the setup of the url for the movie file
//><!--

• Using movies on iWeb

I am still trying out .mac, seeing if it will work for me. I bought iLife 08, but found out that the new iMovie will not ruu on non-intel machines.
I see the demos that people can have these amazing videos on their site. I made a 2 minute movie and exported it "for web" in imovie. I dropped it into my iweb page and
1) the 2 minute movie ended up being 4.2 mb.. Isn't there a way to get this smaller? I use Flash encoder for my other sites, but it seems like this would be more efficient.
2) I try to hit the "play" button in quicktime, but the movie doesn't play in either Firefox or Safari, although I see it loading on the screen

Your link for browserweb.org gives me a blank page. If the PCs have Quicktime installed they should be able to view the movie. Also there's a lot more about an iWeb page that PCs running IE will have problems with.
Roddy has gathered a number of tips on making iWeb more compliant with IE.
"Basically, iWeb is way too sophisticated for Internet Explorer to handle.
You have to "build down" your site for the World's Worst Browser.
Use web safe fonts.
Don't convert text to graphics.
Optimize all your images.
Don't use drop shadows, reflections etc.
Keep your page file sizes down to a minimum.
Run your files through an optimizing application"
The site I've used is http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/. I don't know how accurate it is though.
