Movies Purchased in HD are now in iTunes as SD only

Several HD movies I've purchased in the past are now downloaded in iTunes as SD with no option to re-download the HD version. I've never purchased an SD movie in iTunes if there was an HD option
This just happened recently as I've updated iTunes several times
I checked the email receipts from the purchases and they were in the $15 range several years ago, clearly an HD purchase. How can I get the HD version ?

Here is how you do it and it may be confusing so just try it.
In iTunes,on your computer, go the Itunes store main page. On the right, click on purchases and then click on movies. On the bottom right, there will be a check box that says download HD when Available. Uncehck that box.
Now, in the movies above, simply click on one and download it. The SD copy will now download.
Connect the iPad to iTunes. When the iPad shows up in the left pane, click on it. In the summary tab, make sure that the box for prefer standard definition videos is checked. Then at the top of the screen, click on movies and sync whatever movies you want to sync to the iPad.

I purchased songs that are now labeled as "not authorized on this computer" and won't be sync'd to my iPod. I then go to the store icon, click on authorize this computer and am told that it is already authorized. I have another 169 or so songs I have purchased and have no problem with those. Anyone know what might be happening? I'm not really a "technocrat" so I hope there is an easy answer.

The apps you have purchased for your mobile device will not work on a computer. You will need to download the appropriate versions on your Mac from the Mac apps store.

Apple TV movie purchase doesn't sync back to iTunes

I'd recently purchased a movie directly from within Apple TV but it is not synchronizing back to iTunes. The content on my computer synchronizes correctly to the Apple TV but my purchases and rentals are not synchronizing back the other way.
I've tried removing the synchronization settings from both the computer and the Apple TV and then setting it back up again. My music synchronizes over but -- again -- my movie sits happily on the Apple TV but not in iTunes.
When I look at the movie on the Apple TV, it has the little trash can indicator next to it.
I'm using Apple TV 2.1 and iTunes 7.7.1 (on a MacBook Pro).
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I have a similar issue. Just got an Apple TV and synced it to iTunes on MacBook Pro and everything worked fine - got about 7gb of photo and music content synced to ATV without any issues.
However, when I purchased a TV episode on ATV, the whole setup is stuck. Every time I start a sync on iTunes, it tries to sync the purchased file (about 500mb) from ATV to iTunes first, before getting to the photos and music sync in the other direction. The problem is that iTunes completely hangs in about 20-30% into the copy process, with the coloured wheel mouse cursor running infinitely.
I've now upgraded the software components (ATV to 2.2, iTunes to 8.0.1), tried removing the ATV relationship to computer and adding it back again, restarting both ATV and MBP in the process, also removed com.apple.itunes.plist as some forum suggested. Nothing, it ends still in the same place. I am yet to do a full reset to ATV, as I'd prefer not to loose the purchased file, which I do not have any copies of outside the ATV.
Through the attempts the ATV now is empty of any photos/music that were synced to there before, there is just the one sad little purchased episode. And I can not add anything back, as iTunes always starts with the purchase sync... which fails.
One thing some sites are hinting to but I haven't quite understood is the notion of primary and secondary iTunes Store authorizations. The iTunes account I use was created on a separate PC version of iTunes. However, the MBP is authorized too and I've used it to add credit, etc.
Any thoughts?

Movies purchased directly to Apple TV through Itunes - question

I have three of the original Apple TV units that I have previously used just for my kids shows they like to watch over and over. Well, we are now downloading movies. The hard part is this: The Apple TV unit we downloaded several movies to (purchases, not rentals) does not update to Itunes. Itunes wants to charge us for the movie again if we try to download it there. The Apple TV unit that we downloaded these movies does not update to the Itunes library. I have looked and looked through topics here and have not found how to copy or back up movies that are downloaded on the apple tv unit directly. What am I missing? I want to be able to use them on any of my apple tv units and view them on iPhone and itouch.

Songs I have purchased on iTunes are not showing up in my Purchased playlist but are in my iTunes library

This has only been happening since updating my iPhone 5 to the new IOS 7.0.2 software and it has duplicated a new purchased playlist on my iTunes library. I have tried syncing the iPhone to my computer but still no luck they are not showing up in my purchased playlist.
In saying that, some songs I purchase do show up in the playlist but others don't or only half of an album shows even though I have downloaded the whole thing. It is driving me crazy!! Has anyone else got this problem and what did they do to sort it?

I'm not sure how the Purchased Playlist decides what to put into it, but if you want to see all of your purchased items, then you need to go to the iTunes Store, and on the right side, under Quick Links, click on Purchased.
Then, click on the Music (or whatever other purchased items tab you want to look at). If you are looking at Music, click on All Songs, and then on "All" or "Not on this Computer" (depending on what you want to see).

The iCloud page on Apple website states that movies purchased in itumes are automatically transferred to the cloud. I can't find the movies unless I sync my devices via a cord. I am interested in purchasing Apple TV but want to make sure I will be able to access movies purchased.

Movies are not stored in icloud. They are on the cloud - yes, but what Apple means, is that you can redownload the movies via the iTunes Store, where all movies are stored (the itunes cloud).

OK. In iTunes on the computer, since you have the ringtones there, one simple method to try would be to drag them to the desktop, and then directly from the desktop to your phone in the Devices menu in iTunes.

You still have to create the ringtones. Yes, even though you thought you were buying ready made ringtones.
There are several ways to do this. Google will find them.
I prefer Garageband. It is quick and simple.

Highlight the movie, go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select create iPad and AppleTV version.

For a couple months now, every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad giving me the error: "some of the items in the iTunes library, including were not copied to the iPad because you are not authorized for them on this computer". I have read many forums about deleting, reinstalling, de-authorizing and authorizing my iMac through the iTunes store. Many suggestions don't work except to rename the movie to *.MP4 in Finder under the iTunes movie directory. I imagine this is a setting or a bug somewhere... any suggestions on how to bypass having to rename the files in Finder? My research into Google suggests this problem dates back to 2007 or so but it is now more prevalent than ever.

2) When I upgraded my iPhone 3gs, to the latest version 5.0.1 (9A405), is when I noticed that i couldn’t update my applications. There are two names/accounts on the phone and prior to the update there was just the one. I have tried entering every conceivable password that I have ever used and get the incorrect password error every time. The apps on the iPhone are apparently associated with several/different accounts. I just want to get everything back to the way it was. One id and one password with purchases associated with just one account that can be updated on my computer as well as my iPhone.

You cannot redownload audiobooks.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.. Copy them from your backup copy of your comptuer.

Music I purchased on I Tunes is not available when I open ITunes in I Movie. I Movie says those files are "protected" and not accessible. What does that mean and can I change them to "unprotected" so I can use them in IMovie?

Most of the music that I purchased on I Tunes I bought and downloaded on my old I Mac which I replaced with this I Mac about 9 months ago. When I"m using I Movie on this I Mac and try to open I Tunes tab in I Movie, most of the files are not accessible because I Movie says those fields are protected. Your older iTunes music purchases included DRM software to prevent sharing.
