Movies to Web Gallery from email

I've looked around and there are some posts on this matter but nothing that can seem to answer my particular question.
I have a G4 PowerBook so iMovie 08 won't work with me. I understand that if I enable email uploads to my Web Gallery I may be able to email a movie to it. I have a 7mb movie but it won't go. The attachment allowance is now 20mb on the email. Is there a maximum size for Web Gallery? Or is the maximum size only an issue if the move is emailed?
Alternatively, is there another way to achieve what I want to do? I have heard that it's possible to upload it straight from iPhoto, is this true? I can't try yet as I'm in work and need to wait until I get home.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

It's not really an iWeb issue.

I am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

A few more details might help, if nobody else recognizes this.
What happens when you try to open the links?
Can you post an example of a link that doesn't work?
Is there any particular source for the mail with the (bad) links, or is mail from all sources failing?
If you happen to know it, what's the format of the mail message?  (Maybe the message is an image?)
Do the embedded links work as expected from an OS X system running Mail.app, or some system and some other other mail client?
To view the link in iOS: if you press on and hold your finger on an embedded link in most contexts, iOS will show a pop-up with the link contents, and will offer to copy it.  You can use that to acquire and post the link.  If pressing and holding on the link doesn't offer the pop-up, the format of the link itself may not be valid, or it might not really be a link.

  • Playing movies in web gallery

When playing a movie in web gallery I have to wait until the line below the movie slowly crosses to the following side. It is as though the movie is being downloaded before you can play it through. Is this normal, or am I missing out a step before clicking on the play icon?

This depends on the size of your movie file and the speed of your internet connection.
You can either cut the size of the movie file or give your viewers a description of the move to read while it downloads. The latter also gives the Google spiders something to report about your web page as they can't watch the movie!

  • Web Gallery from iPhoto - Help

I have published 3 albums through web gallery from iPhoto. For a few days, I would see in the left panel, under "Web Gallery", the name of each gallery, and the status, sync, being sync, etc. Suddenly, this bar only displays one, the other two are still accessible through .mac, I can see them, I also can see them in the preference area under web gallery, but again, they are not being displayed on the left organizer bar, so I cannot drag and drop, or see the pics there and edit when I want.
I do not know why would one published album be displayed, and the other don't..
    Any clues??
    Thanks

In the tab "web gallery" in the iPhoto preferences I can see the title of all three albums. In fact, I tell it to check for new photos, and for few second you can see them reappear in the organizer bar on the left, with the circling wheel like it is being synchronized, but they disappear fast, and forever gone!!. Again, I can see in the copy of iDisk in my desktop that the galleries are there, and in the .mac website, I can see them. But not in iPhoto.

  • Web Gallery from iPhoto

Is anyone having the problem of creating a web gallery from an Event in iPhoto but not getting a picture for that gallery and inability to scroll through images in gallery? When I click on the gallery I get all the images, I am just not getting the one image to represent each gallery. I am publishing a web gallery from an iPhoto event and getting a gray image with a lock in the right lower corner. Why am I not getting a photo from the album, one that you can scroll like I am suppose to? Please help.

  • Can you create a web gallery from Stacks?

    Hi.
I have several stacks totalling 108 images.
How do I create a web gallery that shows the images, not the picks from Stacks? Is that even possible?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I would keyword the stacks in question then build either an Album or a Project from the keyworded images, and a web gallery from that.

  • Problems Emailing to Web Gallery From Camera Phone

I have a Sony Ericcson camera phone that has a mail client which I have set up to use GMail for both incoming and outgoing mail. I can't seem to get Web Gallery to accept the picture emails I send from the phone. The only thing I can conclude is that the server accepting the emails has problems parsing the message. I can use my desktop computer to send the image to Web Gallery, so it's there's nothing wrong with the image itself. I've also tried configuring my phone to use an AT&T mail server to send the picture, but have the same problems, so it's not the mail servers. I've also sent a full sized image (2 megapixels) as well as a small version (640x480) to see if it's related to file size, but they fail as well. Interestingly enough, I can send videos that I take from my phone to Web Gallery and it gets posted, so I figure it's not the phone.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've included the failure notice email I get back from the Web Gallery mail servers below if it can help diagnose the problem. Thanks.

After many trial and errors, I figured out that the web gallery mail servers were choking because the filenames my phone gives photos have capital ".JPG" extensions. If I change them to lowercase, the pictures get posted. Unfortunately, I can't rename the files inside the phone and need to transfer them out to my mac via bluetooth before I can rename it. To solve the problem for myself, I created an email address on another hosted website that pipes mail to a script that rewrites the problematic portions before sending it to my web gallery. It's somewhat of a roundabout way of doing it, but it works for now.
Hopefully the web gallery mail servers will be corrected to handle this situation.

  • Delete Movie in web gallery

I created ab album in iphoto with pictures and movie. I publish the album to the web gallery and it worked fine. I deleted the album in iphoto, the pictures were deleted in web gallery but not the movie. How do I delete that ?

You may have to mount your iDisk and go to the Web/Sites/_gallery folder and delete the folder containing the movie.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Enabling Web Gallery from ,Mac

How do I enable the Web Gallery feature the .Mac website so I have publish some pictures from my iPhone?

If you will search the iPhoto-Camera/Pictures forum, there are a number of threads outlining the steps.
    In summary:
    1) When viewing a picture on your iPhone, click the bottom left button (send button) and make sure you have the Send To Gallery button available
This button will ONLY be available if you have a .mac email account setup on your phone PRIOR to downloading the 1.0.1 iPhone update
    2) Make sure you have the iPhoto 08 update installed (web galleries will not work without the update)
3)Launch iPhoto, select a few photos, and click the Web Gallery button at bottom; Choose all the options include allow upload to Gallery, publish the gallery (if you don't choose allow upload, you will not be able to upload from the Iphone)
    4) Choose picture on iPhone, click bottom left send button, choose Web Gallery and send.
Again, there are MANY threads on this topic on the iPhone-Photos forum. This question does not involve iWeb in any way!

  • Can I publish to Web-Gallery from several Macs?

We have several Macs in the (extended) family, all running iPhoto (iLife08 and Leopard). I have ONE .Mac account (family account; i.e. for 5 people).
Here are a few related questions:
    1. Can each person publish to this one Web Gallery account?
    2. Is each "publisher" the owner of this specific Album on the Gallery? Or is there a "master" owner?
    3. How do I then control the sequence of the published albums?
    4. I published a series of albums on the Web Gallery; then I had to switch iLibraries (because a single one became to big) with (commercially available) iPoto Libary Manager, now the once published series is no longer visible on the web.
    Thanks for any pointers/answers/suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Veit

    Velt:
1 -You can setup a web gallery so others can add photos to via a web browser and by email. Also they can subscribe to the gallery, i.e. download the photos to their library.
2 -You would be the controller of the gallery.
3 -You control the sequence of the published albums by arranging them in iPhoto in the order you want - in the left hand pane under Web Gallery. If you want just your extended family to have access then you can password/user name protect the galleries.
4 - the galleries should not be removed from online just because you opened a different library. Open the original library, go to the web gallery and bookmark it in your browser for access regardless of which library you're running. You can confirm that the galleries are still online by going to your iDisk/Web/Sites/-gallery folder and checking for the gallery folders there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. • How to restore a Web Gallery from my backu

I noticed today that one of my Web Galleries was gone. I'm sure I didn't delete it. I entered into Time Machine while still in iPhoto '08 and stepped back in time until the missing Web Gallery showed up. Apparently it got "deleted" a few days ago but it's there in the backup. Trying to restore the web gallery attempts to restore the actual photo files which is Not what I need. I need to restore the little Gallery "playlist" thing in the Source Pane on the left.
I dug through my backups on my time machine disk and found the backed up iPhoto Library when the gallery still existed and after opening the package contents and looking through the AlbumData.xml file in Text Edit I could see that, yes, the code for my missing Web Gallery is there.
Here's my problem... How do I get that back into iPhoto???
I tried cutting and pasting the relevant code into today's current .xml file and then re-opening iPhoto. No go. In fact the code I pasted in is removed again by iPhoto.
Next I tried replacing the entire .xml file with the back up version. No go. iPhoto again removes the code for the missing Web Gallery.
    I'm at a loss.
And I'm a little worried that a web gallery can just up and go missing. And that there is no way to get it back from a backup.
    What can I do??
    -Don

    Don:
Time machine will not restore just the database file. You will have to restore the entire library. BUT you can have it keep the current library (it is renamed iPhoto Library (original). Then take the Library6.iPhoto file out of the restored library, put it in the original library (make sure you've not imported or deleted any photos since that backed up version was made) and use the original library again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. • How do you automatically update a Web Gallery from a Smart Album?

I just installed iPhoto '08, and like the new features. I have published several Web Galleries, which are great for people who don't have Macs. I am publishing a smart album of all of the photos taken in the last month (Date is in the last 1 Month). However, when I add new photos, they show up automatically in the Smart Album, but they don't show up automatically in the Web Gallery. Is there a way to do this in iPhoto '08? Is there a way to do this with Automator? Thanks for your help.

    TeeJay6:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No you can't because the web gallery is a separate entity from the smart album. Once the gallery is created in iPhoto you have to add photos to it manually and then click on the icon to update it online.
    Do you Twango?

  • Movies in Web Gallery

iPhoto or .Mac for web gallery questions? I'll try here:
Running iPhoto 7.01 and uploaded a web gallery of my niece's wedding. My camera takes QT movies as well and allows you to select movies and even sends a thumbnail with a movie icon on it. But when try and play them you get an generic 'QuickTime is unable to play this movie. Please try again.' and the Gallery entry in iphoto has one of the triangle '!' signs after it as if it ran into problems.
    So is it:
a bug in delivery and Gallery doesn't really support QT movies (and should warn you if some are selected or just ignore them)
it only supports certain types of QT movies (though I don't think they got sent)
Or some other problem? No mention of movies that are supported by iPhoto in the database in any Gallery help or notice I can find.

Why is this thread marked as 'Answered?' Is the 'solution' that, while iPhoto 'seems' to be able to upload videos it lists and plays to Web Gallery, videos don't play.
Is that the answer? Has anyone been able to have videos uploaded to a web gallery via iPhoto actually run in a Web Gallery. If so, which format was it in?
    (ANSWER/Workaround below.)
For me, My camera's MPEG1 Muxed, 640 x 480 pixels movies are copied to and list fine in iPhoto and are listed with an icon in a Web Gallery, but throws up an error message.
Movies exported to finder by iMovie 08 (.m4v, mpeg4 using H.264) is not even accepted as a valid format by iPhoto, so I can't say if it will run in the Web Gallery. Likewise, exporting a movie to the Media Browser does little, as iPhoto can't access the Media Browser. (Is that true? Am I missing something?)
Video encoded as MPEG4 Decompressor (libavcodec), 640 x 480, Millions AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz (.mp4) is accepted as a valid format and is uploaded to the Web Gallery. It is also played in Web Gallery.
So, Non-H.264 compressed mpeg4 movie clips will play in Web Gallery.
