  • When syncing iTunes with Apple TV (1st gen) some songs and movies will not sync..

I get the message that these songs and movies are not authorized to play on this computer. The computer is authorized and the songs and movies will play on the computer but will not sync to Apple TV
    Any advice is aproeciated.

    Thanks for the reply WC
    Yes they do.
They origialnally played just fine. I moved my entire iTunes library to a new computer and now only 62 songs, out of over 2000, and two of four movies won't sync. All songs and movies are in same folders and same format.
I already selected "keep iTunes media folder organized" and "copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library"
using iTunes 10.7 and OSX 10.8.2

  • Movie content will not sync with Apple TV (1st Gen)

I have some iTunes purchased movies which refuse to be sync'd with my Apple TV (1st Gen).  Storage for the ATV is external using FireCore (latest release), and I have added content since this issue began, but the same movies still will not sync.
I have tried syncing as 'Playlists' - my preferred, also ticking the 'boxes' for these items within the 'Movie List' on iTunes, finally selecting 'All Movies' - none work.
My iTunes Library lists 98 items.  Apple TV lists 90 items.  Both include iTunes Extras
This question/problem is also listed (incorrectly) under Apple TV and Photo's

I am also experiencing major sync issues with my recently purchased Apple TV which will NOT transfer any content (purchased or otherwise) over from my iMac (27" 2.66 GHz Intel i5 Core). I am running iTunes 9.03, and Apple TV OS 3.02.
All content plays on my Apple TV fine and I've had no trouble transferring purchased TV shows back to the iMac.
I was on the phone with Apple support for well over an hour about this yesterday: failed solutions included factory restores and direct iMac-ATV Ethernet connection. They decided that the Apple TV might be defective, so it was returned and exchanged. New Apple TV=same problem.
Incidentally, the first Apple TV was initially synced with a Windows XP machine running iTunes 9.01. No problems with syncing content from the PC.
I spoke with Apple support again this morning: we tried 2 factory restores, but could not get any content to sync from the iMac to ATV.
I also tried to sync from an older iMac G3 (OS X 10.4 and iTunes 9.03) with the same unsuccessful result.
Still waiting for Apple support to call back with more ideas. In the meantime, I've synced the ATV back to iTunes 9.01 running on Windows XP without any problems.
Very frustrating: there must be a major ATV sync issue that affects Macs running iTunes 9.03. I hope that Apple will address the problem and offer a fix.

  • Videos/movies will not sync

So I have about 6 or 7 videos in my Itunes, I know one for usre is :Itunes" compatible as I downloaded it in that format, however they will not sync to my 120gb Ipod. I've re-set my ipod, I've removed the vids and put them back in. but they will not work. Any ideas?

    Hello BigSky132,
So some of these videos were purchased from the iTunes store and others were imported into your library from elsewhere correct?
For the imported videos, have you tried using the iTunes built in converter to convert the videos to the most iPod friendly format? To do this locate the videos in iTunes, highlight them, and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version" from the Advanced drop down menu. Once the videos have finished converting, try resyncing the newly converted version to your iPod to see if that helps.
For the downloaded video, are you sure you aren't trying to sync the HD version instead of the SD one? Is it an actual movie, tv show, or some other type of video?
How do you have your iPod set up to sync videos? Do you have the option ticked to have your iPod set up to sync all checked songs and videos from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes? If so, make sure these videos have tick marks next to them in iTunes.

  • My rented movies will not sync with ipod

I rented movies in itunes and they will not sync with ipod. They show u in library as rental but i am unable to get them into ipod

ipod shuffle does not play movies.  It has no screen.

  • Imported Movies will not Sync

I have imported many movies to my iTunes and have not had any trouble syncing them to my ipod and watching them. They are all .mp4 types. I do, however, have two movies that will not sync to my ipod and I can not see any reason for this. If anyone has any ideas, I would certainly like to hear them.
    thanks,
    Charles

while the iPod is connected to itunes, control-click on its name in the source list on the left. click Reset Warnings. try another sync with the movies you want selected. you should get a warning that says either something like this: "There is not enough room on the iPod to sync all selected material. please remove some items." or something like this: "the format of the videos is not supported by the iPod" if it says the first one, do option 1. if it is the second one, do option 2. if it is neither of them, i don't have any ideas.
1.The iPod doesn't have enough space on it to fit all of the video. you have to take someting off the ipod to put anything more on.
    2. you need to select the movies in iTunes, then go to the advanced menu and click Create iPod/iPhone Version, or Convert for iPod or iPhone, whichever appears. that will make a copy of the videos in a format that the ipod can read. you can remove the original copy from your library. you can keep the files if you want. now just select the new ones and sync them. everything should work.

  • Movies will not sync with new 1.1.2 version

Has anyone had this trouble? I installed the latest update 2 days ago and now none of the movies I have converted will sync. It will start to sync the movie, then i get a Windows error message asking if I want to report the error. When I click yes or no it shuts down iTunes. All of the movies sync'ed perfectly fine until I updated to the latest version for my iPod Classic 160 GB. Now I can't get any of my movies to sync. All of my movies were on DVD and decrypted with DVD Decrypter and converted with either Jodix or Videora. I have updated to the latest version of videora but still the same problem. Everything else works and syncs fine. Also, I can play all of the movies in iTunes without a problem. Any advise would be appreciated?

Hi guys! I was having the same syncing problems. Here’s what I did.
iTunes was running when I completed the following steps.
First, go to your Home folder under your account.
When you get there double-click on the "Library" folder. Inside of the "Library" folder, double-click on "Preferences" folder. Inside of the "Preferences" folder find and delete the following files.
    1. com.apple.iPod.plist
    2. com.apple.isync.plist
    3. com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
    4. com.apple.iTunes.plist
    5. com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
Empty your trash to make sure they are gone.
Next open up the window, which represents the main hard drive. You can double-click on the icon on the desktop, or click once on the left-hand side panel in any window.
Now, go the "Library" folder in this window and double-click. Inside of the "Library" folder double-click on "Preferences". Inside of "Preferences" find and delete the following file:
    1. com.apple.iPod.plist.
The next group of files I found and deleted was by sheer luck. I was doing an Spotlight search for any other files or folders that had anything to do with iTunes or iPod.
Here is a list of files and folders I found and deleted:
    iPod Games (folder)
    iPodInfo.plist (file)
iPod.framework (folder – was listed twice in the Spotlight search)
iPodSync.framework (folder – also was listed twice)
    iPod (file)
    iPodSync (file)
To be honest I am not quite sure where the **** these files were. I took a partial screen shot of the window, but did not get the pathway in the shot. Idiot!
Anyway, here is where I think these files live.
Start by double-clicking on your main hard drive icon on the desk top. Then in this order double-click your way through the following series of folders:
    1. Developer
    2. SDKs
    3. MacOS10.5.sdk
    4. System
    5. Library
    6. Frameworks
    7. Kernel.framework
    8. Versions
    9. A
    10. Headers
    11. IOKit
    12. usb
I believe the files are either in the "IOKit" folder or the "usb". I deleted them all, and emptied the trash.
Next, I went back to iTunes, which had been running this whole time.
Click on your iPod icon, and go to the Summary tab. Click the “Restore” button. This will of course remove all of your songs, movies, TV-shows, everything from your iPod, but it will not destroy any files in your Music folder. Movies files by the way are inside of Music folder of your iPod library.
After you iPod restores, quit iTunes. Restart your computer (just to be sure).
Done! All but three of my movies now sync; all songs sync; all TV shows sync. My iPod is running great and so is my Mac.
Do I recommend all of this? No way! I don’t even know what I was thinking! All I can say for sure is that I tried it and it worked for me. Good luck!!

  • My iTunes purchased movies will not sync to the New iPad(3) even though I have an HD version and an SD version. Are there specs somewhere for media files?

I have purchased a few movies in iTunes on the MacBook Pro and after dowloading, I am not able to sync them to my new iPad. I look at the contents of the download and I have an HD file and an SD file, I assumed it would sync the SD file automatically if it cannot handle the HD on the device (although it should be able to).
What are the different reasons a movie won't sync to iPad (frame rate, file size, definition, etc.) and what are the options to make these files compatable with my iPad? Can I rip them again or run them through a conversion utility? Is there a setting in iTunes somewhere I am missing?
Is there a post somewhere thatr already covers this? If so, I can't find it. Would be great to have a baseline of what can be handled by device so I can figure out how to make my media compatable.

the spcs page on this site state which video formats the ipad supports
I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

  • Recent HD Movies will not play to Apple TV 2 on authorized computer

The Pirates: Band of Misfits (HD) will not play - get error message that it needs authorized computer - computer is the one used to purchase and is authorized and plays all other movies through AppleTV

This is definitely something to do with Apple TV, as my iTunes account is acting the way it should. I can even rent movies from my computer through iTunes. The problem lies in the AppleTV, they should allow me to atleast type in my credit card through the AppleTV just in case people run into a situation where they don't have a Mac lying around.
I know they are trying to simplify everything, but it's not always a good thing. Atleast give me the option to fix this through the device, instead of relying on it to auto-refresh.

  • Rental movies will not load to apple TV.  Problem is just within last10 days or so.

Last week I was going to watch a rental that was close to expiration.  Well to my surprise it would not load.  Well now that I have selected it it needs to be watched with the next 24 hours.  So I set to attempt to solve the problem.  iTunes and Apple TV software are current.  Apple TV is getting good signal strength from WiFi network.  Restarted AppleTV.  Purchased movies load fine from both computers.  Netflix loads fine.  Where is the problem

That will reset the connection. If it happens again then it is likely a network issue, doing a test on Apple TV will not be a good indication, and it will require troubleshooting of the network.

  • Movies will not sync back to iphone

I recently purchased movies on my iphone4 and before I upgraded the software I transfered purchases to my mac.  After the phone went through the upgrade and restored all my information to my phone, all of the recent movies I purchased on the phone would say "url error" when I tried to play them.  I deleted them from the phone and tried to re sync from my computer.  They will not transfer.  I can see them and play them on my mac, but they will not transfer to the phone
    Thanks for any help!!

  • Movies will not sync up with Apple TV

Just hooked up this apple tv and am connnected to my wireless connection. I see the device in ITUNES an can select my DVD movies in ITUNES but when selecting sync, nothing happens??

I see the device in ITUNES an can select my DVD movies in ITUNES but when selecting sync, nothing happens?Basically, there are three things that may prevent syncing:
    1) iTunes settings
    2) Content is in the wrong compression format or uses the wrong profile specifications
    3) There is a network problem (signal, settings, or hardware)

  • My Music from iTunes Match will not sync on Apple TV

I cannot seem to get my iTune Match to sync to my Apple TV.
Selected MyMusic and get the message that it will take a few minutes depending on library size and internet speed.
Library size is big and speed is quick yet I have left this buffering for a whole day on a number of occasions and it is still buffering hours later.
ANy any help would be most appreciated.

I had the same problem. I "Reset" (not just restarted) my Apple TV and when I reconnected to iTunes Match it successfully connected and I'm able to play songs through iTunes Match. Not sure if it matters but I'm using a wired connection.
