  • Itunes 7.0.2 won't update my ipod 2nd gen. software

I purchased an ipod silver 2gb and it came with ipod software 1.1.1. I downloaded and installed itunes 7.0.2 and the it won't update my ipod to the 1.2 or greater version required for nike+.
I tried the updates but it only says that the itunes 7.0.2 version is the latest version. The summary of the ipod indicates that the ipod software installed in the ipod is version 1.1.1.
If tried download ipod software version 1.3 but the download at the apple websit only provide for the free download of itunes version 7.0.2.
What can I do to update my ipod software and be able to instal nike+?

did you consult and troubleshoot with any of the many helpful information here.
    http://www.apple.com/support/nikeplus/
Try connecting your ipod to the itunes and see if it recognizes nikeplus there. If not then you can also try the 5 r's
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
Then if that doesnt work then go to your ipod settings and select about and see what firmware version your using on the ipod.

  • Hi all i won't update my iPod touch 4 generation to ios 5 but there are win the download end its showing a massage (the network connection timed out)

Hi all i won't update my iPod touch 4 generation to ios 5 but there are win the download end its showing a massage (the network connection timed out)

Okay. I've tried syncing it first, resetting it first, downloading the firmware, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, I've checked my connections and ports and everything, run all kinds of diagnostics, and nothing is working. Every time it says it's backing it up, my iPod resets and then it's back to square one. I'm going to restore it and see if that helps. What a pain in the butt, especially since it wouldn't back it up.... >.<

  • First Video won't import onto ipod...

I got my first video ever and downloaded just fine and all, but it won't import onto my ipod. Every time it will act like it's doing it and the load bar moves to the end, but then a message shows after it's finished.
    This is what it says:
Attempting to copy to the disk,(ipods name)failed. Can not be read from or written to.
If you could please help me out. I'm not sure what is wrong and I think that my free apple phone support has expired?

  • TV Shows and .mov won't sinc to ipod touch

Some TV shows I bought (from itunes store) for ipod video won't sinc with ipod touch 32g. Also, some .mov files (I made) won't transfer to touch. I've tried every logical thing I can think of to make this work but to no avail. Does Apple have a fix for this?
    Thanks

I'm not trying to sound bad, but did you make sure you have the option checked in iTunes to sync movies/videos? I had this same "problem" and freaked out for a good hour before I noticed the default in itunes is set to NOT sync anything but music. Double check that you have the box checked to sync videos and that the files are in itunes.

  • Movie won't sync to ipod nano because it "cannot be played on this ipod"

I got a movie via digital copy and it is HD, I kept it in the cloud since I didn't have time to download it, later I uncheked the box that says download in HD when available and downloaded the movie, but it is still in HD and won't sync because it is not playble on this device, said device is a 3rd gen (2008) iPod nano. Is there a way to downscale or resize the movie to fit on my ipod?

iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1497 - incompatible format for devices.
I don't know if this applies to digital downloads too:
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209 - "When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page."  Other details about which formats are downloaded and when.  To download as SD uncheck "Download HD when available"

  • IPod Classic 120GB - iTunes Won't update my iPod software to version 2.1

I have a 120GB iPod classic with software version 2.0.1 bought in 2009.
I want to upgrade the software to version 2.1 so I can have the voice memo feature on my iPod.
I am running iTunes version 10.0.1
When I ask iTunes to check for a software update for my ipod it says, "This version of the iPod software (2.0.1) is the current version."
    This is obviously not true.
I've tried to download the software update directly from apple.com ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120229 ) but it gives me a full download of iTunes 10.0.1 which I already have installed.
I don't understand why iTunes will not update my iPod's software. I don't understand why the iPod didn't come with the 2.1 version already installed. According to the download page, this version was released in 2003.
Can anyone please explain to me why or more importantly, HOW I can get the ipod software updated when iTunes fails to do it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello BookofSplendors,
    And welcome to  Discussions!
Sorry, but that firmware update is for a different model iPod, which would explain why its release date was from 2003 and not something more recent. The firmware on your 120 GB iPod is actually the most up to date version already.

  • Itunes 5.0 won't update my ipod

Have been suffering through vers 5 like most of us. It has installed ok and looks ok but will not update my ipod. It recognises it is plugged in and it tells me it is doing it but nothing happens. I have installed the latest quicktime and ipod updater and even tried changing the drive letter of the ipod.. But now I can't change the drive letter back as it only lists the ipod drive when it is pretending to update it and of course I'm not quick enough to change it back even if it would let me. Anyone got any ideas? Please.

Because you really have a 2G iod. Those can only go to 4.2.1.  If yours is an 8or 16 GB one it is a 2G Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPOds. A 32 GB one can be either. To identify yours see:
    Identifying iPod models
You use the model number on the back to tell a 2G from a 3G.

  • 15.47gb movie won't go onto a 64gb memory stick?

I have a 64gb memory stick that has 37gb available storage left. The Quicktime movie won't copy over and I get a message that says 'it is too large for the volume's format' and then it doesn't copy over. This is very frustrating as I don't have a lot of storage left on my MacBook and the extra 15gb would be useful. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. I don't want to have to restore the memory stick because I have other files on there that I don't have saved anywhere else. Thank you.

The key part of the error message is "for the volume's format" (as opposed to "for the space available"). Sounds like the memory stick is in the "FAT32" file system format, which limits the size of a single file to just under 4GB.
More modern file systems (including HFS+ on Macs, NTFS on Windows, and exFAT) support larger files, but changing the file system format for your memory stick would destroy the 27GB of files already on it, as you noted.
Your best solution would be to acquire another memory stick and format it as HFS+ if you plan to use it only on Macs or exFAT is you also want to access it from Windows systems. Better still, get two and use one to make backup copies of this movie file and the files on your old memory stick that you say you don't have saved anywhere else.

I updated my ipad 2 to ios5 and now apps won't open they just blink.  What should i do?
Just updated iphone4 to ios5, now apps won't open, they blink once but won't run
When you look at the storage usage of the iPod in iTunes (the colored bargraph) , how much is in the "other" category? If very large yu will have to restore you riPod to get it down to is normal less than about 1/2 GB.

  • Movies won't load onto iTunes! Please help me, desperately seeking advice

    Hey all.
I just bought a new macbook and new 60g iPod and can't watch movies on my pod.
I try to move them into iTunes and nothing happens, won't drag and drop, won't work if I try import or try to crtl click open with. Just zero happens. I have also tried converting them with iSquint into ipod compatible movies and still nothing. They just won't go anywhere near iTunes. It simply acts as though nothing has happened.
However, my friend was able to put videos onto my ipod from his old iBook.
So frustrating, i bought this new computer so things would work properly and so far not so good.
I have iTunes 7.0.1 and current ipod updater installed on iTunes
Could someone please help me before I tear my hair out!!

What you need to do is download a movie file converter to convert your movies to mp4 which is the ipod format. I use one called "ipodvideoconverter" just google it and you'll find one that works. Just a heads up though... it usually takes 3-5 hours to convert a 2 hour movie.

  • Movie won't load to iPod

I have converted many of my DVD's using Handbrake and put them on iTunes and my iPod. The last movie I converted will play on iTunes, but will not load onto my iPod. I have my preferences set to put all movies on my iPod. In the iPod Update summary/movies it doesn't even list the movie, if I were to select the option to only upload selected movies.
The only difference between this new movie and all the others is that this is the first movie I've converted and tried to upload to my iPod since upgrading to Leopard.

    wrong thread sorry

  • ITunes-purchased movie won't sync to iPod

OK I'm going insane trying to find a solution to this problem - I recently purchased a movie from iTunes store, and it works fine on iTunes, but when I try to sync it to my 5th-gen iPod I get an error message saying that it can't be synced because it can't be played on my iPod. Obviously it is the correct format, because I bought it from iTunes, but to verify I checked all the formatting against 2 other iTunes purchased movies that DO work on my iPod - they are identical, the only difference being the 'Fairplay' version (the ones that work are version 2, the one that won't sync is version 3). I've trying resetting, restoring, reauthorizing... nothing works, I still get the same error message. Yes, it's a purchase, not a rental, and no it isn't HD. And of course there's space on the iPod and all the sync settings are correct, and the iTunes and iPod software are all updated. I tried mailing the iTunes support, but they just sent me a link to the article on the Support pages about syncing movies, which is completely useless for iTunes purchases because it just says they should all work.
Please tell me someone knows a solution to this problem!

Which version of the firmware do you have on your iPod? Is it the latest (1.3), or earlier? I ask because of the information regarding Fairplay version 2 versus Fairplay version 3 on this website:
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=231582
"1.3 firmware has bug fixes and also an updated bit of code to play anything from the iTunes store that has a fairplay version 3. Most stuff on iTunes has Fairplay version 2, but some more recent videos have version 3. If you arent' downloading a lot of DRM'd content from iTunes, it likely isn't critical, but there have been no major complaints about the 1.3 update. At least compared to other updates. for instance 1.2 WAS a shoddy update. They pulled it. 1.2.1 fixed it... But nothing much else added to 1.3 if you are having no problems currently and don't have any fairplay 3 items in your library."
