Moving a divided shape(s) with one transition?

hello forumers.
ok i might be asking much,but im just curious.is it possible since ive devided this square shape into 4 seperate shapes to move them all at once moving away from each other?i know its easy to do it with 4 divided squares.but what about when we want to divide an uneven shape and its divided into 20 seperate shapes.it would be tidious to manage each shape seperate.

Not really but you can sort of do it in two steps
you use the transform each and scale it say 125% in both directions then hit the exclude icon on the pathfinder panel

I do not think this works with a circle. and distributing other shapes you would use two bends or two transform effects.

You can also turn OFF Split Keyboard
Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>OFF

Just moved from microsoft word, struggling with one thing . . the view

I've just recently started using pages rather then microsoft word.
It seems great, but there is one thing that I'm struggling with, the page view
No Matter what I do I can't seem to show the pages left border (from the perspective of looking at the computer screen)
In word you can see the entire page, then there is space where it finished and around the sides.
I can't seem to get the view to show the space around the top of the first page and the left border of all the pages.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What about the view - one up option? I see it in the help but I don't see it in my document. When I click on View, I don't see one up as an option.
Anyone know if there's a way to see one page above/below the other, rather than spread out side by side?
It's not in the View menu. One-up & two-up is in the percentage box at the bottom left of the document.

Beginner Illustrator issues dealing with dividing shape- frustrated?

Ok, so I'm trying to learn how to use Illustrator for specifically fashion.
I'm following this book to learn the basics and i'm going through each step.
I made this basic shaped dress, added a neckline with a dashed line..then moved on to make a straight line at the waist. We are then told to marquee over a piece of the dress and the path line we just made for the waist..and then divide.
Once you divide, the fill box should have a question mark, it says. After that we can ungroup and the top of the dress and bottom should separate.
Well it doesn't and it's really irritating me. The pathline for the waist blends in with the fill color of the dress so it turns from a black thin line to blending in with the pink dress. [The book, at this step, has the waist line still as black].
Then when i try to ungroup...ungroup option doesn't show. It just says 'group'. So basically when i try to move the dress in hopes that it still divided, the dress moves and the only thing that remains is the neckline that i mentioned previously.

[even when i change the view to outline vs preview it doesn't even show up. only the outline of the dress and the neckline. its as if the pathline for the waist just erased]. I also don't understand why an ungroup option doesn't appear. uggh.

A comparison:
I just tried with 5 target rectangles, some of them crossing one another, and an open cutting path crossing them. With Object>Path>Divide Objects Below I got 10/40 ungrouped rectangles as expected, without their messing with one another. With Pathfinder>Divide I got (in this case) 18/100 grouped rectangles, everything being cut to pieces.
Correspondingly, with a sixth cutting rectangle I got 15/60 ungrouped rectangles, and 29/144 grouped ones.
As it appears, if you only want the top object to cut anything, Pathfinder will make a mess.
Two other comparisons:
A rectangle and an open path that cuts into it from one side: One 7 point path in both cases.
A rectangle and an open path that cuts through it: Two 4 point paths, ungrouped/grouped.
As mentionned earlier, in all cases, only the cutting path needs to be selected with Object>Path>Divide.
There may be some difference in behaviour, depending on her age/maturity.

It's in AirPort Utility, AirPort panel, Wireless tab.
When I'm within the range of the base station I connect normally, but further away the connection drops despite the fact that the other Airport is very close and light is green. Interestingly, my PB Pro has signal almost everywhere in the house, but my iPhone and Mac Mini don't. Most likely just a hardware difference?
In AirPort Utility with the second Express, in the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, have you checked "Allow wireless clients"?
The second AP does show an IP address: 10.0.1.3.
With a "Configure IPv4" setting of "Using DHCP", that suggests that the second Express really is connecting to the first Express. In that case I have no other explanation of your your problem.

I also recommend to use Boot Camp, which allows you to install windows on a partition of your internal hard drive. This has many benefits. First, you can restart your computer and start up in windows. This makes your Mac device a complete windows machine and you gain the most from your hardware when working in Windows. Second, if a problem occures to your Mac OS X, you can restart your machine in Windows and prevent your data from getting lost. Third, you can import the Windows installed on the boot camp partition in to the Mac OS X using VMWare Fusion and work with it as a virtual machine. In this situation, VMWare enables you to work directly with your Windows in the boot camp partition. So it does not create a file package for the virtual machine in OS X.
Regarding the data safety and reliablity, I strongly recommend using Time Machine. You can also set it up to back up your virtual machines or not. This is possible to set up in the Virtual Machine Preferences Page in VMWare Fusion, or in the Time Machine preferences page in the System Preferences app of OS X.

Help with some transitions

Hello, i'm trying to do add some transitions to my video. I want to do a intro like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBPV0f6c56s
I have already written the swords, the texts and the central anime minecraft guy with Anime Studio, but i need to do this 3 things:
1. Am expanding cirle opening
2. A light/flash as transition between the first animation and the next logo
(I have another question, but more difficult: I want to do a sun rays effect from an angle)
All of these effects-transitions are in the youtube video that i linked.
Can someone help me with one of these questions?

The circle wipe is just that, a transition. Look in Effects>Transition. I'll give you a clue, a circle has a radius... It's there along with some more interesting effects.
You can also do a circle transition with a simple animated mask, use a scaled round layer as a track matte or about a hundred other combinations.
The light burst effect can be done with a simple masked white solid blend mode set to add and opacity keyframes or by searching your effects and pre-sets for light b. You'll find it. Just add it to a solid between your layers, set the blend mode to add and use an animated mask and opacity to bring in the effect. (the yellow thing in the middle is the animated mask that makes CC light burst interesting.
Same thing can be used for your sun rays. It's just a matter of layering and the shape of your mask.
Here again, there are dozens of ways to achieve this effect.
If you're completely lost then start here. This is basic enough AE that you shouldn't really need a step by step tutorial to pull it off.
Or as dave suggested, get Anime Studio.

Syncing and backing up in iTunes can be accomplished with multiple devices. They identify the devices based on the phone number, phone name, etc. The only way you would have an issue is if you were using different calendar contacts on the computer. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495

It was totally separate. I just now went back to a previous email from Apple to that secondary address which urged me to transition to iCloud. I followed the link and it prompted me thru the process and the address is now able to send/receive emails. Thanks.

On a Mac, can you navigate menus with one handed key strokes like Windows?

On a Mac, is there anyway to navigate menus with one handed keyboard strokes like you can in Windows? My girlfriend is a graphic designer and switched from Windows to Mac. She misses being able to use the Alt key and make menu selections. On Windows she can press "Alt" and then move through menus and submenus with one hand on the keyboard. When you press "Alt" the first letter of every menu is highlighted. When she presses a certain letter the menu drops down, and the first letter of every submenu is then highlighted. She can then navigate through all the submenus until she hits the selection she wants, all using the left hand on the keyboard. It's very fast and efficient. Can you do something similar to this on a Mac?
The reason she wants to do this is because when she is in Photoshop, she likes to use her right hand on the mouse with the cursor inside the canvas (sketching, moving layers around) while she makes menu commands with the left hand. It is 10 times faster this way than using the mouse for everything. Hot keys are not the same because you must have those memorized. With the "Alt" key function, you can open a drop down menu, see the choices, and make your selection.
I have been a Mac person my whole life, and I have to say, it's a pretty awesome function. I really want the Mac to have something similar.

I would, however, encourage Derek Doublin1's girlfriend to learn the direct keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop. On Mac or PC, for me pressing Command-Option-I is much faster than either the mouse or using the keyboard to drop the Image menu and walk down to the Image Size command.

Is there any way to get embedded video within pdf - once placed in InDesign - to export (either swf or xfl) creating a booklet-type publication with page transitions (curl/ page-flip) with the videos playable?

Only Adobe Acrobat or Reader can show those PDFs (and many others) correctly. Are you sure that the PDF was opened in one of these 2 applications and not in Apple Preview or Ghostviewer or something else?
Only Adobe Reader 9 and X and Acrobat 9 and X can show PDFs with Flash content correctly. If you have an older version, let us say Version 8 or older, you are not able to see Flash content at all. If you have a newer version, that is Reader XI or Acrobat XI you need additional Adobe Flash player have installed on that computer and allow access to your PDFs. Can you check, if these substantial requirement are fulfilled?

HT201342 I have not been able to upgrade to a new computer. So I am running an old OS 10.5.8 in a Powerbook Pro 15¨. I recently have had some e-mail problems. I would like to know if this is related with all transitional process from @mac to @icloud.

I have just starting having problems with my @mac.com account because I still have an old computer. Un fortunatelly so many years this is my main account and no option to send e-mail are possible.
Is this related with the transitional process from moving to an @icloud.com account?

iCloud mail is a standard Imap account, any version of OSX (or Windows) with an Imap compatible mail client can use it.

Exporting Keynote presentation with ALL transitions to download to DVD

Hi guys... I have a keynote presentation that I want to burn to DVD. The transitions are quite tricky (set to music) but when I exported it to iDVD, only the basic (cube) transitions transferred and not the other ones (timing). Is it possible to download these presentation EXACTLY as seen in the program?

I am not sure... I think I tried BOTH. I am basically putting photos in the presentation to fit with the music. As this particular piece has some really fast bits in it, I have a selection of photos with minimal transitions (really fast) within the rest of the photos that have the cube transition (set at about 8 seconds each). Only the cube transitions exported.
