Moving a Network shared drive to WD Mycloud EX4 accessed by 80-100 users

So I'm using the Connection Manager Administration Kit to deploy settings clients can use to setup the Windows VPN at their homes. I'm using a Certificate for the SSTP that I got from GoDaddy. So I was testing the Connection Manager package that I created on a laptop we have here and it turns out the GoDaddy intermediate certificate is not in the cert store.. so I'm assuming the same thing will be true for people at home.So in CMAK I added the cert file (the cert is a p7b file) And I made a Custom Action to run certutil -addstore CA .\cert.p7bBut that didn't add the cert.So then I made a batch file to create a folder C:\certvpn and copy the cert there and run certutil. The batch files creates the folder but doesn't copy the file. I guess my problem is the batch file isnt' running from the folder that its in, and I will never know what...

  • Copying files from Mac to PC network shared drives.

Copying files from Mac to PC network shared drives.
We have shared mounted drives in AIX Fusion that we can pull files from and copy to the mac, however we can not copy files from the mac to the drives.
“Error in user parameter list (-50)” With MS DOS-Formatted Volume.”
The drives are mapped on the mac using SMB. We can go to the files on the mac and use “save as” and this works and saves them on the shared drives.
We can not drag and copy them to the shared drives. Every time it fails and we get the above error. We can create folders but not move any files.
When we look up the error, it is referring to certain characters that can but used in a Max OS X filename and are not allowed in MS-DOS filenames. We are not using any of the characters not allowed.
The drives have all the basic set up in AIX, RWC. All the PC's we have can drag files to and from all our shared drives.

Either install software which enables the Mac to write to NTFS drives, or MacDrive on the PC, or reformat any drives you'll be using to share files between the computers as either FAT32 or exFAT.

  • Network shared drive hang

My office use a file server that host network shared drive (mapped on all workstation). The server OS is Windows Server 2008 SP 2, and all clients on Windows 7.
For the past 6 months the network shared drive sometimes hang, but lately becoming more and more frequent.
I cant really put my finger on it, as I checked on the server Event viewer, I can't really find anything related (or it could be I missed it).
I notice many users work online with their office documents (excel, words), they open and save directly to the shared drive, is this also contribute to the shared drive hang?
    Help! thanks

    Hi,
you should check using resourece monitor and perfmon whether you are running into resource depletion issues.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.08.pulse.aspx
Office documents surely use resources, but a far more common culprit is storing outlook .pst and . ost files on a networkdrive. Aside for being not supported, it is a real fileserver killer. You will have events in system event log indicating issues in such
    case.
Especially look for events regarding Srv, SMB, MrxSMB or the server service as all are closely related to fileshares.
Also pretty common, is antivirus doing realtime scan both server as client side, possibly combined with some other filter drivers. (like described in:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822219
there is a nice guide 'performance tuning for fileservers'  on Microsoft download.i recommend you take a look.
    MCP/MCSA/MCTS/MCITP
ok, I will try to monitor those points you recommended. Thank you.

    Hello sirs,
I have one client that having the file saving issue into the shared drive from outlook 2013.

I have tested with .xlsx & .dcsx but no error saving those files. only for this particular extension that facing this slowness problem. • Possible to locate Event & Project Libraries on Network Shared Drives?

My iMovie is running on a Mac Mini.. but I have all my media (iTunes, iPhoto, wish to have iMovie too) stored on large drives attached to a G5 via eSATA and shared on the network over Gigabit Ethernet.
The drives on the G5 show up on iMovie Event Library but not on Project Library.. cannot drag any events into the shared drives from within iMovie (have little yellow triangle with exclamations on them)
The internal drive and any USB drives directly attached to the Mac Mini do allow dragging to though.
is this the limitation.. are the only drives the eligible to locate Event and Project Libraries internal and drives directly attached to the computer running iMovies? That would be a shame.. the eSATA drive shared over GigE have a much higher transfer rate than any USB 2.0 drives that are attached to my Mac Mini..
    any help will be appreciated..

    Got my answer..
NOTE: To use an external hard disk with iMovie, it must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). *iMovie doesn’t support network-attached storage* or external flash memory drives.

  • Can't write to network shared drive from PC

I have been using a network drive shared via samba for almost a year.  The drive is shared from a PC and it is a ntfs fromatted drive.  I have never had a problem writing to the drive before.  Today, I did a fresh install of Win7 and all of a sudden I can't write to the drive any more.  I have windows sharing the drive with all permissions enabled.  I know I am missing something, but I don't know what.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I made a mistake.  When I enabled permissins to read/write on Win7, I must have forgotten to "apply" and save, because I just checked the settigns and permissions were not what I thought they were.  I went back through, hit apply and then saved the settings and everything works as it should.

  • Time Machine Backup to network shared drive.

    Hi All,
I'm a relatively new Mac user (only had my MacBook Air (2010) since about Oct/Nov. I've been trying to get Time machine up and running so that it backs up to a shared 2TB drive on my wife's Windows Desktop Computer, but have only been partially successful.
Theese are the instructions I used: http://safalra.com/other/time-machine-network-drive/
Everything went super smooth and I was rewarded with a Time Machine Backup of about 94GB in progress when I went to sleep last night. However, when I woke up this morning I saw the error that something went wrong (same error I always see) and that I should try again later.
I restarted the backup on the Time Machine to see a backup progress of "43K of 32GB". It seems to be staying right there though. This seems to happen every time I try this. Has anyone had any success doing a Time Machine backup to a Windows Network drive?

The most recent error was along the lines of C3: ". . . an error occurred while copying files to the backup volume".
"The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk. The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. if the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk.:

  • How to access a file in the network shared drive

    Hi,
I have a pdf file in a netwoek share drive which opeates on windows platform. I want to access this file. the path to the file looks something like this
    acddfd\sap\sapdir\myfile.pdf
I have tried gui_upload , gui_download , ws_upload and ws_download FM. But I am getting file_read error. Is therey any settings i need to made.
I can access the above path from windows menu start->run.
    points guarnateed.
    Thanks

GUI_UPLOAD / DOWNLOAD is the way to go. If you can access the directory/file that doesn't mean necessarily that the R/3 system can 'see' it as well. Your local frontend is connected to that share, but I would check with your basis that the application servers where R/3 is running do have access to that share as well.
Also does the R/3 user you are using have the same access right to the network as your Windows Network user?
We had a similar problem and eventually it was just an authorization issue with the R/3 user.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

    - MacMini sees my MBP und my GFs MB
    - MBP is able to see my GFs MB, but not my MacMini

  • Airport Express Crashes when backing up to a network shared drive

I have an iMac with a 1TB external drive which it has been using to do time machine backups. I recently decided to backup my Macbook to the same drive using the same disk over the network.
It starts fine and then after 20-40 minutes or so the Airport Express stops working and it needs to be unplugged to get it to work again.
Any thoughts on why this might be happening and what I could do to fix the problem?
    iMac G4 with 1TB external Drive 10.5.8
    Macbook White with 10.6.2
    Airport Exress with 6.2 firmware
    Thanks!

please clarify if your external drive is connected to an Airport Express. if so, an Airport Express does not work with external HDs - its USB port supports printers ! if you mean an Airport Extreme, please be advised that Apple does not officially support this setup (even though some users have reported that it works for them).

  • Networking\Sharing: Drive resourse with Imac and Windows PCs

May question start with how dose a person share an IMac external USB drives\resourses with a windows systems.

    Hi Dennis,
I tried the steps provided but when I attempted to connect the two computers my iMac said it had to shutdown and had a series of error codes it wanted me to send to apple.
If I follow these steps successfully will I be able to copy or pull files from the windows machine onto the iMac? We have lots of pictures and word files that I'd like to transfer onto the iMac and into programs like iPhoto and Word for Mac.
Is there any other programs required to get the two machines to share files other than what is on both computers?
    Thanks, Roger

  • Pages creates all these folders on network shared drives

Our office has a ton of Macs all hardwired into gigabit ethernet. For years we've used worked with Pages, Numbers and Keynote files directly off a central server and it's always done a great job. Since upgrading to Pages 5.x every single time we open any Pages file it creates a folder with an idential name plus ".pages" next to each file. This folder seems to contain usless data that neither Pages 5 nor Pages 4 recognizes, and deleting the folders doesn't affect the original file at all they still open fine. This is really SUPER annoying and is flooding our servers with all kinds of usless data.
What is going on here and how can this be fixed? Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks in advance...

Pages ’08 and Pages v5+ documents are special Package bundle file objects. When they reside on the Mac, they appear in Finder as ordinary files. When they reside on external storage, they will appear as directories. Pages ’09 documents also appear as regular files, but are in fact a compressed zip of a folder.
Your Mac server is likely running an older version of OS X than Maverick, and does not understand the exclusive new Pages v5 document format, or its proper presentation to end users, as would Mavericks.
    Choices:
    Export all Pages v5 documents to Pages ’09 v4.3 document format.Resume use /Applications/iWork ’09/Pages
Before saving Pages v5 documents to server, compress them first.
Right-click on the .pages document on your machine, then select Compress menu item.
Creates foo.pages.zip which appears on remote server as this name
Upgrade OS X Server to Mavericks Server
Despite its progressive version number, Pages v5+ lacks substantial functionality from its Pages ’09 v4.3 antecedent, including an entire incompatible document format with other versions of Pages. You should consider it early beta software, and not a viable production release (as Apple marketing would have you believe).

  • Suddenly can't access shared drives on LAN but can access shared folders

This just happened this past week.  Prior to last Monday everything had been working fine for over a year.  Here's the scenario:
I have a LAN with a Tower Computer, a Desktop and a Laptop.  The tower computer has two external 2-bay cabinets connected via e-SATA.  One cabinet has two drives configured as Raid 1 (i.e. 1 mirrored logical drive and has the 'shared
name' "Raid1-Array and the drive letter of Z: ), which is a repository for data that must be available to all computers on the LAN.  The other cabinet has two individual drives used for backup (stored offsite and only installed once
a week).  One of the latter is for backup of the "local" Tower (Drive G: - not shared), and the other is shared for LAN backup of the Laptop ('shared name' "LT-Backup" and Drive F:).
Suddenly this week, the laptop can no longer access the shared repository (Z:) nor its shared backup drive (F:) on the Tower.  As a temporary solution for the backup, I shared the laptop's backup folders of F:, and
for some unknown reason the laptop can access those, but not the F: drive itself.  When I try to access Z: or F: using File Explorer I get an error message saying:
"Windows cannot access \\TOWER-755\LT-Backup  You do not have permission to access
\\TOWER-755\LT-Backup.  Contact your network administrator to request access"
All of the computers are in the same "WORKGROUP" and the same "HomeGroup", and I've gone through all the Help & Support texts and have run every diagnostic that I could find, but all to no avail.
Another creepy thing is that the desktop (the third computer on the LAN/WORKGROUP/HomeGroup) CAN access the drives, but that computer is only here temporarily while I'm working on it.  In light of this I'm assuming that the problem lies with the
Laptop, but for the life of me I can't figure out what/how.
I'd be very grateful for any/all help to resolve this mystery.
    Capt. Dinosaur

any changes before this issue happen? any other device connected and facing same issue
did you check folder share permission setting?
how about you re-edit the setting for user name password

  • Styles being dropped on network shared folder files in Dreamweaver CS5.5

Hello, apoligies if this has already been solved but I could not find anything similar. Recently we have upgraded our staff from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS5.5 and are having some issues with pages dropping the stylesheets which are linked relatively. The relative files are located on a shared network drive which is mapped in Windows 7 as a drive (e.g. My Computer shows the drive as R:).
In Dreamweaver design view up the top it reads:
    Address: file:///R|/acrrm/tinnitus/course_content/001.html
and there is a yellow bar up the top which reads:
'common_styles.css' is a remote file and cannot be edited.
We never had this issue before so I was wondering if it was a new limitation of CS5.5 or if there was something I should look out for in the site definition.
Interestingly enough I was able to fix this on one machine by randomly toggling the live code/view buttons, havent had any luck doing that to other machines though.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Here are the specs:
    O.S: Windows 7
    Version: Dreamweaver CS5.5
    Site Definition: Network shared drive

Interestingly enough I was able to fix this on one machine by randomly toggling the live code/view buttons, havent had any luck doing that to other machines though.
I would have to say that this operation could not possibly fix anything.  I suspect that simply waiting the same amount of time as this operation required would have returned the same result, and it sounds like there is some latency in your network.
Your site is entirely contained on a network shared drive, right?  Or is it that only SOME files are on the network shared drive (R:)?  Also, where is it you are seeing this?
    Address: file:///R|/acrrm/tinnitus/course_content/001.html
