Moving a photo book created in iphoto from a laptop to a desktop

Any idea how to move a photo book created in iphoto from a laptop to a desktop in order to do some editing before submitting to apple for purchase? Iphoto on laptop is version 4.0 or 5.0. Desktop version has 8.0.
Any suggestions appreciated.

There's only one way to do it.
iPhoto stores your books etc within the main database file. There is no way to transfer this to another library. You'll need to copy the entire library to bring it to a machine with an internet connection.
Here's a tip: duplicate the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder. Then, hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue select 'Choose Library' and open the Copy library. From these, delete any pics not in a book etc - put them in the iPhoto trash and empty it (iPhoto menu -> Empty Trash). That way you'll only bring the minimum you need with you to the machine with the internet connection.
However, beware - there's no guarantee the the book template you're using in v4 (or v5) is the same - or even available - in v7 (iLife 08)

  • Need to reprint photo book created with iPhoto & My Publisher

I created two photo books in December of 2006 via iPhoto and used the My Publisher plugin to use that service for output. Anyway, I gave the book as a gift and now I would like to make a copy for myself. The problem is that My Publisher cannot reprint these books... this was verified today by one source at MP.
So, what are my options, I strongly prefer the MP option (that's not available) because I wanted an exact copy and the price is right (about half of what Apple charges last I checked).
BTW: These two books were created with two different versions of iPhoto... maybe v5 & v6.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    So, what are my options,
If My Published will not reprint for you then that is not a choice
So your choices are to order from Apple or redo the book for some other source of your choice

I get this pop up when trying to create a photo book through the iPhoto store.
"Some or all of the photos you selected were downloaded from your published albums. You can only view these photos. To use them in an album or a slideshow or project, you must import them to your photo library."
The photos I have selected have already been imported so how and why do I do it all over again?
What do they mean by published albums?  I categorize them into photo albums for organizational purposes after I import them from my camera or phone. So why can't I put them into a book now?
I have over 400 photos selected for a photo book for my child's graduation gift so how can I tell which photos I have to do this to?
Please help. Any insight wouyld be appreciated.
    Confused and frustrated...

Give this a try:  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

  • How can I print (into a physical book) a photo journal created by iPhoto using iPad?

How can I print (into a physical book) a photo journal created by iPhoto using iPad?

I think I worked out a clunky but workable way to do this.  There is an app for iPad called PhotoSync.  It is not free for the iPad but free for computers you want to sync with.  Install it.  When you edit photos in iPhoto on your iPad make sure to save them to Camera Roll.  PhotoSync will take the edited pictures from your iPad that have been saved into Camera Roll and will move them to your computer in batch (so long as it is on the same wireless network) where you merely import them into iPhoto or whatever software you use, and you can build a book for print.  The secret is to save the pictures into Camera Roll as you edit them, there is no batching function into camera roll, so doing it afterwards is tedious.  It actually works quite simply and because PhotoSync is free for computers, you can transfer photos to any computer that has downloaded the free software that is on the same wireless network - works great to get pictures to kids' or spouses computers.

  • How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09?

How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09? I can zoom in or out, but I can't figure out how to make a photo smaller. Is this just because I am working in a Contemporary book format, using a 2 photos per page layout? I'd like to work with maximum flexibility, like starting from the blank template in iWeb, where I can add any number of photos, text, and change all the sizes. Is this possible? Thanks.

You resize the photo by clicking on it and zooming
You can not resize the photo frame

No they all work the same - see Liz Castro's page - http://www.lizcastro.com/iphotobookthemes/ - for a detailed description of iPhoto '08 layouts - all of those carry forward to iPhoto '09 plus there are new ones that she has not documented yet

Not in iWeb but you can do pages in any page layout program (word, pagemaker, pages, etc) and print to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option to create a totally custom page - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 - http://web.mac.com/toad.hall/OldToadsTutorials/No._19.html - for directions

when i attempt to buy a book created on iphoto, it says i can't because all of the photo spaces are not filled with pics.  when i go back and review the book, all spaces are filled.... any ideas

That is correct - you must have a photo in every photo frame to order

  • How to recover a book created with iphoto

Hi!!! I need all your help instructing me on where I can find and how I can recover manually from a Time Machine backup a book created in iphoto....??? Thanks!!!

you can not "recover a book" - a book is just entries in the iPhoto database and you ahve to recover the entire iPhoto database that has the book in it
launch TM and go back to the time you want to recover and click recover - it generally is best to select the option to keep both versions so you do not overwrite your current library
You can switch between libaries by doing an option-launch and using the select library option

  • Moving iPhoto photobook from a laptop to a desktop

I created an iPhoto picture book on my 2007 Macbook laptop. I have a new 2009 iMac desktop and would like to transfer the file from my laptop to my desktop. How do I do it? Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You have to transfer the entire library and run it from the new iMac. Books are virtual entities that are stored in the library's database file and can't be copied from one library to another. So copy the library from the laptop to the Desktop of the iMac, rename it "Book Library" and put it in the Pictures folder.

  • Can a photo book created in i photo be saved in pdf format or shared online with a customer before printing?

Can a photo book created in i photo be saved as a pdf or shared online in any way with a customer before printing?

Sure - once you make a PDF you can e-mail or share it as you want - although they can be large so you need a share capability for large file

I've transferred photos to my ipod classic from my laptop. But how can I transfer JPEG images to ipod?

    Hello, Blondet787.
JPEG photos are compatible with your device.  As long as these images are in the same folder as your pictures, then they should sync.  Below, I have included a couple articles that show you how to sync this data to your iPod.

  • Can I transfer updates from my laptop to my desktop computer?

Due to the slow internet available in my area and the cost of Verizon service, can I transfer updates from my laptop to my desktop?  I use the library forupdates as their speed is much faster and I can carry the laptop.
    Robert

If you download the updates from the Apple Support site, instead of with Software Update, you can transfer them.

  • Can I change my Photoshop from my laptop to my desktop?

Is it possible to switch photoshop from my laptop to my desktop.

You are allowed two installations, But for YOUR personal use. If you don't want to use your second installation then it will be necessary for you to deactivate the installation on your laptop. Then you can go ahead and install on your desktop computer. What OS? What version of Photoshop?
