Moving a Pin in Maps??

I was doing a search for my business location using Maps, and the Pin dropped about a block away from my actual location. Is there a way to 'move' the pin to the correct location? It's not even on the right side of the street!

Visit Google Maps on a computer and find your location. They offer a way to update information on the Web.
The Map application just pulls from Googles database. So work with Google to get their database up to date. They have links for Business owners to further provide more details about their place of business (requires proving you own the business).

  • I want to delete a pin in Maps

I've created some pins in Maps that I want to remove, but this is no longer possible. I've Googled it several times, but none of the answers apply. I guess this has been changed yet again in iOS8. I'm gathering that Apple doesn't want it's users to just be able to do something basic that should be simple, and maybe even stay the same way over time, but what would be the challenge in that?

Some of both, I think. The ones that are bugging me right now are the ones you see when you do a Search listed as potential places, probably based on a previous search. But I'd like to be able to remove any kind of pin that is no longer useful. I googled and one suggested that I go to a place and click on "Recents",  but the only recents I see are the list that automatically appears when I start a search, which are not labeled, just listed. The other method suggested I click on the "blue arrow" somewhere, which I didn't see when I went there. I gather that this procedure has changed many times, probably with every update of Maps, which is making it more difficult than it should be. I'm using 8.02 right now.
If you know of a way to do this, I would be most appreciative.

  • How do I remove locations and/or pins from maps on iphone 5

How can I remove locations and/or pins from MAPS?

A purple pin is a dropped pin. You access that from the "back" of the map, but touching the lower right corner of the map. It is a pin that is dropped in the center of the map you happen to be looking at at the time. If there is no description of the pin, touch the pin and it should show a label, and on the right side of the label there is a blue arrowhead. Touch that and it will provide an address/description of the pin's location and there should be other options, such as directions to here, from here, etc., and then one to remove the pin. Touch that and it should disappear.

  • Trying to remove red pin from Maps, there is no button to remove it, folks . . .

Have had my iphone 4 for eight months. Updated to iOS 5 recently. Didn't have this problem before but I am UNABLE to remove the red pin from Maps.
Turned my phone off completely, and it seemed to remove the red pin on turning it back on. But this is not a convenient maneuver.  I was able to drop a purple pin and remove it. But once a red pin is down, THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO REMOVE IT. I'm certain that there is a bug here that needs to be fixed.
Option 1 under  "Directions", tap on the red pin, tap on the blue arrowhead, tap "remove pin" - - - but there is no such button to "remove pin".
Option 2, under "Directions", tap on "edit", I thought there used to be a blue "clear" button to remove everything, but there is none.
Instead under "Directions", tap "edit", tap the grey circle with a "x" inside to remove the address, but it does not make it go away, and the red pin always comes back. The blue cancel button on upper left hand corner also does not remove the red pin.
Please help. I already read multiple postings on this. I have not found the correct answer for my question. Thx.

There's no way to remove it.  Either ignore it or update.

  • How do I label dropped pins in Maps?

How do I label dropped pins in Maps?  It would really be helpful to be able to label a dropped pin on a map with something like "Elk Hunting Spot".  I can't find how to do that.

When you drop a pin it should create a label for you.

how do i remove red pin on map app,im talking about red pin not the blue pin?

The label that is with the pin. Touch the blue arrow to the side of it and then touch where it says Remove Pin.
EDIT: I just re-read what you said. If it is a red pin, it is from a searched address. In that one, you have to cancel the search and the pin will go away.

  • I want to see multiple pins on Maps app.  Is this possible?

Basically, I would love to be able to click on Maps app on my iphone, and depending on where I am, see the map and any bookmarks I have saved in my phone.  For example, if I wanted to pin all my contacts on a map and see pins on where they are, but ALWAYS stay there.  It's also usefull for places you want to remember, that you walk by, for example.  I want the pins to stay there..even if I exit the map.  Let's say for example I have errands to run.  So I look up the 6 places I need to go to on my bike, then make pins for them so the next day I can open up my maps app and, voila, there they are.
I've tried bookmarking pins, but this doesn't work.  After a while the pins disappear.  Does anyone know of a way to do this?
    Thanks!

I would LOVE a solution that allowed to see, perhaps greenish pins? that pull from your bookmarks. I usually drop a pin when i find a handy wifey. SSID+Street & Street

  • How to remove text box that appears with a red pin in maps?

In Apple maps, when I type in an address, it comes up on the map with the address in a text box and a red pin below it.  I've read that you need to delete the address in search to get rid of the red pin.  I want to get rid of the text box so I can see the map around the address I am searching. The text box blocks a lot of the area if you are trying to discern where on a street this address is, etc.   How can I do this?
    thank you,
    Michelle

Thanks for the idea.  I did it as far as it would go and it is actually covering the area I'm trying to see.
Knowing that if I clear the search, the area is visible.  However, when I tried it and did some adjustments to the app, changing they view, it jumped back to my home address so I had to start over.  I assumed there was a way to keep the pin so I don't lose my location and clear the text box as we don't need to keep seeing it as it is up in the info bar.  It sounds like this is not designed into the app.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

  • IPad: How do I delete a drop pin on maps?

New user & have too many drop pins. I would like to delete some of them. Please help!

Tap on the pin. Then tap on the circled i. Thee may be an option to remove the pin. However, the pin may be associated with an address in your contact app and I think that you have to remove the address to remove the pin for a contact address. Also, you can associate a pin with a Map app bookmark. To remove those pins yo have to delete the Map bookmark.

  • Moving itune library to mapped drive.

first of all my laptop is getting full with my music, so i bought an external 250g usb hard drive that is connectted to my networked home pc. i have the drive mapped in my laptop and am now in the process of trying to move my library to this mapped drive. how do i do this, and is it possiable to from now on store my files on the mapped drive and run i tunes from the c drive with no problems. also i read some forums putting down usb 2.0 external hd's saying they r not reliable, which kinds of scares me because i want to store my pics on there 2. is there any truth to those drives being unreliable because of the usb i/o input and output

I am afraid I found your last post difficult to follow.
If I understand you correctly your music is NOT all in your iTunes Music folder.
Do you want to keep your current folder structure?
If you do, life is difficult. The problem is that the iTunes library stores the full path to music files and if this changes, it can no longer find the files. It can cope with the iTunes Music folder being moved, but not other music folders.
The simplest thing is to just copy everything onto the external drive and start a new library, then add the folders to the new library. This loses all meta data and playlists.
Another alternative is to edit the iTunes Music Library.xml file to correct the paths with a text editor using search and replace. Then rebuild the library from the xml file. If this works, you keep playlists but still lose metadata.
It would be better to move everything into the iTunes folder on the external drive and let iTunes organise it. The way to do this is to follow my instruction for moving the iTunes folder. Then go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General and make sure "Keep iTunes Music folder Organised" is checked. Then consolidate your library, which is an option on the advanced menu.
This will copy all the music on your c: drive that was in you library but not in your iTunes Music folder into your iTunes Music folder on the extrenal drive. This way you keep all your meta data but lose control of how your files are organised. iTunes uses a basic Artist/Album arrangment.
Finally something to consider, if you are using a network drive, you might be better off keeping your library files on your internal drive and just moving the music files to the network drive from a performance point of view.
If you want to do that, the procedure is very simple but you have to sacrifice your folder structure and allow iTunes to organise your music. This Apple article tells you how:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748
If you want others to have access to your music it needs to be in a shared folder which all users can access.

  • Using pins in maps

Hi, is there a way to get the iphone to drop a pin on all your contacts on maps in one go? also every time i have added a pin it vanishes when i cut out of maps, any reason why this may be? would appreciate any help.

    Hey Pilsbury1981,
You can select a contact from the address book to pull up their location on Maps without typing it in, but there is no way to pull up locations for all contacts or a group of contacts.
You can request this feature added to the iPhone online here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
