Moving a sequence of clips in timeline and they part ways ... why? Can I avoid it?

Here is a timeline annoyance that is driving me nuts – are you guys experiencing this as well, and how do I avoid it? It seems like it might be something to do with how my secondary clips are connected to the main storyline, but it happens all the time in various bits of my film project.
Almost every time I drag a series of interconnected clips from above the main storyline – B-Roll material, as it were – the clips detach from one another and connect to the main storyline at different points, see below. I want to stress that Snapping (N) is not toggled, so I would assume my clips to drop right where I ask them to, but alas, see below:

Why the sudden juggling? Does anyone know the problem and have a solution?

As Tom and Andy have explained, because of this known bug the workaround to this is either place those clips in a storyline, which going of your screenshot that's your better option, or place them in a compound.
Storyline would be a 3x step process. Select/highlight your clips, right-click creat storyline, move your clips.
Compound would be a 4x step process. Select/highlight your clips, right-click new compound, move the clips, right-click break apart clip items.
The advantage using the compound workaround is when you have detached audio and B-Roll clips connected to the primary storyline and you need to move all those together. Also with compounds you can just about add anything in them, even connected Storylines with transitions.
The beauty I love about compounds is when you break apart clip items, everything falls into place exactly the way they were before you compounded them.
For now just use the storyline method, I too think that will work best for this particular instance.

To expand a little on John's questions and link, every clip and every sequence has its own frame dimensions (and pixel aspect ratio & frame rate). By default, Premiere preserves the dimensions (or "resolution") of a clip when you add it to a sequence. That means that if a clip's resolution is greater than that of the sequence, it will appear to be zoomed in on the frame. Conversely, if the clip is lower res than the sequence, it will appear shrunk, with black borders.
If all of your content is the same resolution (which is the ideal case), then you should use a sequence that matches. The easiest way to do so is the "New Item" method that John refers to--dragging a clip to the Project Panel's New Item button--or, in later releases of PPro CC, dragging it into an empty Timeline panel. If you're working with content of mixed resolution, then you have to pick your poison and scale smaller clips up or larger clips down. The latter option is generally preferred because the former--scaling clips up--often results in unacceptable pixelation. -
I want to start with audio on a timeline and add photos. Why is this not possible in the new confusing version of iMovie?

Unspeakably FrustratedYes, you can do this. Drag the music track to the background and start adding your pictures. A great way to do this is to use beat markers so your photos will change on the beat.
A really fast way to do this is to line up your photos in an iPhoto album in the order you want them. You can drag the whole album into iMovie at once.

Either:
iTunes is trying to protect you from the ugly side of the adult world
Your parents are trying to protect you from the ugly side of the adult world
You've turned on the Parental/Content Restrictions by mistake
Look in iTunes at Edit/Preferences/Parental>Content Restrictions>Restrict explicit content and make sure the tick is not in the checkbox.

Try a hard reset:- hold the home button AND the power switch - ignore the red "Slide to power off" and wait ubntil the iPhone powers down, and then restarts - at the Apple logo, release all the buttons and see if your contacts reappear.

Hi mzf35k,
CreatePDF would enable you to combine two files however you might not be able to delete from the existing file. You need to make modification(delete) in the source file.
Or you can purchase the full Acrobat or subscription for Acrobat to perform the desired task with PDFs.(Please visit the link)

You cannot. If someone else told you there is a way then they will need to show you. After Effects requires a 64-bit system and the latest release requires Mac OS X v10.8 or v10.9 minimum

I have a mac book, with office for mac and iStudio installed. When I try to create a document using either one of these; after inserting several photos, the computer locks up and the only way I can get it to unlock is to do a force quit. Why does it do this, and how can I get it to unlock without having to do a force quit?
Are you using versions of the software that are compatible with the version of OS X you have installed? Very often such lockups are caused by application incompatibility.
The problem may also come from trying to use both sets of applications at the same time while not having enough RAM installed. Adding more RAM may fix the problem.
The problem can arise from corrupted support files such as preference files or Application Support files or corrupted cache files.
The image files you are using may also be corrupt thus causing the problem.

For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Lion Cache Cleaner, CockTail, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):

Unless it has recently changed you can only watch rentals on the device or mac you rent them on.

Keynote and transfer of presentations why can't I copy and paste?

I've always been a Mac lover, but now....... I'm ready to do somethin'...... Very frustrated with update to new Mavericks and Keynote V.6. I have updated my presentations from the previous version of Keynote into the new version. I am trying to copy and paste elements from multiple seperates presentations into one presentation. When I paste the presentation into my "master", the font size changes, format changes. It's a pain in the (beep, boop, poop).
I get a message: OSX Spotlight search information was removed".
I'm really confused. Why can't one just copy and paste from one show to another when its in the same program!?If I understand correctly you want the title to appear on top of a later video clip so both title and clip are visible. The problem is the "whites" background which is both making the background opaque and stopping you from pasting it above another clip. If you just select and drag the title by itself, the background will be transparent so the video clip below will show through. You should also be able to copy and paste it directly above the clip you want.
If you want different parts of the title to have a special effect you will have to edit each instance after you have made and positioned the copies.

I can't get itunes to open from my desktop. When I click on the icon nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Why isn't itunes working??
On my PC I had a problem where the iTunes store would only display a blank white page, I managed to display my account settings, but nothing for music, etc
I treid this and it has immediately sorted it out...
start>programs>accessories> right click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator
then simply enter 'netsh winsock reset' and return
after restarting the PC and loading up iTunes the store was there fine ;-)
