Moving all files back to Google Drive due to lack of response

Due to the utter lack of response to my syncing issues with Creative Cloud Desktop, I am now forced to move all of my files back to a more reliable solution (Google Drive).  I have given your company every opportunity to respond to this issue before I posted this message, but the complete dismay of this known syncing issue has left me no other choice.
As a long term client of Adobe and Macromedia for over 15 years, I cannot believe that you have chosen not to respond to this issue.  I felt brushed off from your live chat department, considering I spent over two hours trying to resolve the issue with them and they just kept passing me to different departments.  To make matters worse, the last individual I spoke to advised that the issue would be escalated because it is a known issue and there was no resolution.  I then received an email stating that my issue was resolved and therefore the case was closed.  This was completely untrue.  I cannot still sync files from my desktop to the cloud.   It appears the live chat operator just didn't want to have an open case (which would look bad for him), so he closed the case after we ended the chat.   I still receive several error messages that I have repeated to your team multiple times.
I then re-opened the case and filled out a survey expecting a response.  No response at all!  I have now posted three messages in this message board and no response at all.
I am sorry that I have to post this message, but I have given your company every opportunity to respond, but nothing.
With that said, I now will be moved my team's files back to Google Drive.

Gcoiro, I am also very disappointed with the live chat service. I spent over 2 hours trying to communicate with a live chat rep, and it became evident that the rep wasn't even reading my responses and questions during the conversation. Rather than try to make robots seem more human... let's try and make our humans seem less robotic, Adobe.

  • Moved all files to bigger hard drive - now chaos in lightroom!

After transferring all original files to different disk lightroom shows questionmarks on all folders as expected! Is there a shortcut to get lightroom back to understand where the originals are now or do I have to handle each folder seperately?

In the Lightroom Folder panel, right-click on the top-level folder and then select Update Folder Location.

  • I moved all my music from c: drive(because it was full) to an external harddrive and now itunes can't find any of my music. Is there a way to get Itunes to find music on external drive without having to place all the music back onto the c: drive? Thanks

Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

  • I moved itunes file to external hard drive and want to move the file on my pc to recycle bin. When I move i get an error message that it cannot delete ituneshelper.dll access is denied. Can I move that file to the recycle bin?

I am trying to free up space on my pc and moving itunes files to external hard drive. I have followed instructions and believe I have file copied to new drive, but I am having trouble moving file to recycle bin as the instructions say. I am getting the following error message: cannot delete ituneshelper.dll:access denied, make sure disk is not full or write protected and file not in use. I know the file is not in use when trying to move. Any help would be most appreciated. I am on Windows XP.

Yes. And you should not have moved that folder. Put it back. To move your iTunes library move the folder from User's Music.

Trying to download photos from IPHONE, IPAD to IPHOTO in IMAC after installing new hard drive.
How did you import the photos to iPad and iPhone?
If the photos have been synced to the iPhone and iPad using iTunes, you cannot sync them back.
    See this document:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
If your photos are not in the Camera Roll on your devices, save them to the Camera Roll, share them to the Photo Stream, mail the photos, or, if you have iPhoto on the devices, use iTunes Photo Sharing.
    http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnkee26bc1
Save photos to your computer using iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Tap a photo, album, event, web journal, or slideshow and tap Share> iTunes.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save (if you are saving a slideshow skip to step 4):
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap one or more photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
In iTunes, click the button for your device and click Apps at the top of the window.
Below File Sharing, select iPhoto (in Apps).
Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the items.
To view your photos, go to the Finder and look in the location you selected above.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • I have to extract all files from a hard drive of a macbook pro that is no longer working. All I have to access the hard drive is a PC, is this possible, and if so how?

I have to extract all files from a hard drive of a macbook pro that is no longer working. All I have to access the hard drive is a PC, is this possible, and if so how?

You could try Paragon HFS+ for Windows. That would allow you to read and write files from a Mac-formatted drive.

  • Moving iPhoto files to external hard-drive

    Hi everyone,
I've seen versions of this question asked many times but felt the need to ask myself before I go into the Genius bar to have someone help me. I take A LOT of high quality photos and they are currently taking up 60GB on my tiny 150GB hard drive. I need to move these files off my hard drive to free up space because the computer is prompting me to delete things, the hard drive is full! I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager a few months ago and created a back up copy of my library and put it on an external hard drive. But now - I want to move all of them OFF my hard-drive. I know how to make a copy... But how can I move all of these files so they are just on the external hard drive?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • Moved my files to external hard drive, now files not found.  Help?

My Itunes folder having outgrown my memory, I moved all the files to my external hard drive, following the directions in Itunes. I was able to play the songs as long as the hard drive was connected. However, I opened Itunes mistakenly without the E: Drive connected, and it opened blank, with no files in place. I closed, hooked up the hard drive, and opened Itunes again, holding down the shift key and choosing the library on E: (the xmp file). The files now show up, but when I try to play them, I get a message indicating that the file isn't found, do I want to find it? I can, but I don't want to go through 5000 files and add each one individually. If I try adding or importing the folder again, the file is simply in itunes twice. I can always import everything again, but I don't want to lose all my ratings, last-played, etc. It took a lot of time to listen to and rate all those songs. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I moved my itunes library to an external drive to free up the space on my notebook and now I "get files not found do you want to search" If I search I can find the song in Windows but have to find each song individually, I have 2600 songs I burned from my CD collection, it would take way too long. I have tried copying the file to the same drive, I have reintalled itunes multiple times. I have checked Apple and my computer is "authorized". Is there any way out of this? Otherwise I will be limited to just having the music I already have on my ipod and being unable to add any more, and if that ever bocomes compromised I would be unable to restore it. None of my music is purchased from itunes, it is all burned from my CD's.

  • Itunes exclamations moved mp3 files to new hard drive

    hi
i recently bought a new computer (quad) and the new hardive is big enough to put all my mp3s onto one hardrive. so i put all 80gigs worth into one folder called "mp3s" and then i have sub folders to categorize them as latin etc...obviously itunes will display ! on every song now that they arent in their original location...so i went to advanced tab and made the "mp3s" folder the default music folder and assumed itunes would be smart enough to reestablish links to every song in my playlists...but no!!!...i tried one posts suggestions which worked the best (creating xml file etc)..but most all of the songs in my playlists still didnt show up...and every song in playlist is located in the "mp3s" folder so i assume it couldnt handle 80gigs worth of songs?
my complaint with itunes is i use to use some mp3 player on OS 9 that was smart enough to reestablish links to multiple playlists by simply selecting one song in the playlist and selecting the new location of the file, then it would automatically see any other mp3 contained in any subfolders and reestablish links to it....simple...why cant itunes on OS X do this.
    any help appreciated
    thanks

after reading many posts on apple, talking to apple tech support and googling nothing solved my problem completely...however i figured out a way to get it to work for me
    MY SCENARIO:
before i had two different drives with 20gigs of mp3s on each drive and itunes on another drive...my files are organized by genre not artist so having itunes oraganize my mp3s is a no go and i have alot of playlists that i spent alot of time organizing so i didnt want to loose them.....when i got my G5 i finally had enough room to put all mp3s in one MP3 folder and thats what i wanted to do.
    STEPS I TOOK:
    1. I exported every playlist in the itunes on my old computer by going to file/export song list. then saved as .xml file. heres a link to apples directions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763
    2. I trashed all itunes prefs in user/home/library/preferences and all files in the user/home/music/itunes folder on my new computer...then i opened itunes and it goes thru standard steps and opens to an empty library.
    3. I copied all my mp3s to my new computer and placed them into one folder called MP3's ( you can copy or move to any drive(s) or folder (s)you want)
    4. then i went to itunes/file/add to library and selected the MP3s folder and itunes added every mp3 to the itunes library. (if you have mp3s on multiple drives simply continue to select the folders containing the mp3s and add them to the library)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301509
    5. import the .xml song lists in step 1...as it imports some will import instantly, others you might see a progress bar as it searches...if some mp3 files in the playlist are missing it wont display them in the playlist.
    6. all mp3s should now be in the library and all playlists connected to the songs no more exclamation points.
    3. also afterwards or even in step 4 go to the advanced tab in the preferences and select the folder you want itunes to point to if you put all mp3s in one folder on one drive...make sure the "keep itunes folder organized" and "copy files to itunes music folder" are unchecked.
    FINAL THOUGHTS
eventhough this wasnt that tough, this process could be made simplier by apple making itunes smart enough to locate broken linked files. i forget the name of an mp3 player i used on OS 9 but if i decided to move my mp3s to any other folder or hardrive, and reopen the mp3 app, it would show the files couldnt be found in the playlist, then when i clicked on one missing song the app was smart enough to scan that folder for any other mp3s in the apps playlists and automaticallly reconnect to them.

  • Can I create a full backup on google drive by moving my user folders to Google Drive Folder?

Can I create a full backup on google drive? Google suggested I simply move my folders (Pictures, Music, Downloads, Documents, etc) into the google drive folder. But these seem to be automated files involved with Mac's organization... will this create problems for my computer? Ie. if I import new photos, or download music, will my computer know where to put it if its in google drive?
If this is a problem, how else could I possibly create a full backup of personal data on google drive (or any similar syncing service, for that matter).  iCloud is prohibitively expensive, and programs like crash plan and carbonate run so slowly and bog down my computer so much that they are not worth it. Google drive seems simplest and most competitive in price, but I am worried about moving my folders.
    Help?

Google Drive also installs a client--a google drive folder on my hard drive that is programmed to sync changes automatically to the cloud--that allows me to drag and drop.  I suppose my original concern was about dragging files from my hard drive (such as "pictures" that would contain my iPhoto library, etc) into it.  Would that mess up Mac's internal organizational system? If I drag and drop my pictures folder, music folder, etc. into the google drive client folder in Finder, will those applications still function correctly?  Will my mac still be able to figure out where to put photos I import from my camera, etc?
I am only as tech savvy as I have to be to survive professionally as a traveling teacher, so I am looking for something pretty straightforward that will free up some of my brain waves for other activities, rather than remembering which folders I have made changes in and need to sync.

  • Moving Lossless files to an external drive

How do I move Apple Lossless files to an external drive & still have iTunes know about them?
When I started ripping my CD collection I encoded them with Apple Lossless. Then I converted each track to AAC.
Why? Well, on the basis that I wanted to have a high quality version of each track (you never know when it might be useful). Of course, I wanted the AAC version for my iPod.
Now my internal drive is getting full so I want to be able to move all the Lossless files to my Lacie Drive BUT not loose them from my iTunes library.
Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

I think I've figured out how to do what you want. Here are some steps. The following assume that you don't use the "part of a compilation" option or don't care if this option gets reset.
    1. Move all of your music to the external drive. To do this:
1.a. Open iTunes preferences, Advanced panel. Make sure "copy music into itunes library" and "keep itunes library organized" are checked.
1.b. Still in iTunes preferences, change the location of your iTunes Music Library (under Advanced) to the folder on the external drive where you will eventually want to store all of your lossless files.
1.c. Choose Advanced|Consolidate library, and wait while iTunes copies all of your music to the external drive.
    2. In iTunes, select all of your lossy files (i.e. the files you want on your internal drive). Press Command-I to get info about these songs and then check the "Part of a Compilation" option. Press "ok". (iTunes may take some time to complete this step.)
    3. In iTunes, select all of your lossless files, and un-check the "Part of a Compilation" option.
    4. Re-open iTunes preferences, and change your iTunes library location back to the place (probably on your internal drive) where you'd like to keep your lossy files. If it asks you something about copying files to be consistent with your options, choose "no".
    5. Now, open finder and find the folder you specified in step 1. Open it and the "iTunes Library" folder inside it. You should now have a folder for every artist in your iTunes library. There should also be a folder entitled "Compilations". Drag this folder into the "Library" icon in your iTunes window. Wait while iTunes copies all of your lossy songs back onto your internal drive.
    6. If the "Compilations" folder you dragged in step 5 still exists, you should be able to delete it, as all of its contents should now be in a similar "compilations" folder in the folder you specified in step 4. (Check this before deleting, though!!!)
You're done. All of your lossless files are on the external drive. All of your lossy files are on the internal drive and you shouldn't have lost your ratings, etc. (At least, these steps worked for me, using the latest version of iTunes.) You can even change the "part of a compilation" settings as much as you please.
    Good luck!

  • Moving media files to networked hard drive

I just moved my media files to a hard drive connected to my time capsule. I thought I did it the way we're supposed to: specifying a new library location, and then organizing the library so that all of the files get copied to the new location. That worked fine, but when I start itunes (10) and do a command-I on a song, the file location is still the old one. I changed the directory name of the old media folder, and even moved the folder outside of the itunes folder, and every time I start itunes it still points to the old library. When I check my settings, the new library location is listed as the default library, but it seems as if the itunes library file is still looking for the old media folder. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks!

I am having the same issue as well...

  • IMac Core 2 Duo running 10.4.8 not finding all files in network hard drive

I've got >12,300 songs on a Buffalo LinkStation (NAS) that is set to allow both Macs and Windows computers read it. My Wndows XP computers recognize all the files, but my iMac 2GHz Core Duo with 10.4.8 doesn't. I consolidated all my music using iTunes on my Windows XP laptop and then returned the folder to my NAS. No improvement. My iMac still won't see all the music. What's more, it seems to be totally arbitrary. It will see all files from Michael Jackson's Thriller except "Wanna be startin' somethin'" and then will see only one of three songs by Kenny Rogers, the two unrecognized being "Lucille" and "The Gambler." Don't even get me started on my U2 folder or any of my Rap albums. Is it an index problem? How do I fix this?
iMac with 2Ghz Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Lee: I have no idea whether this is the problem, but I am recently aware of my own issues with a Buffalo Linkstation and they relate to the NAS drive's not being able to read file names with certain characters like "/" "|" "*" and the like. I was testing out a backup program (Synk, Standard Ed.) to back up various files and got a huge number of error messages, apparently resulting from "illegal" file names. This is apparently because the Linkstation's kernel is Linux and these special characters mean something special to the OS. Why Buffalo claims that the product is mac-compatible is another matter.
    Anyway, I hope this helps.

  • All files from x hard drive or mp3 disc have a "!" symbol  in front of the song titles in my library, and i cant find them on my ipod

all files from an external hard drive or mp3 disc imported to my itunes library have  a "!" symbol in front of the song and i cant locate them in my ipod.

The exclamation point means iTunes cannot locate these tracks/files in the location you originally imported them from.  Meaning either they were deleted or moved to another location.  Right->click on any track and select Get Info. Then under the Summary tab look to see the location where iTunes is looking for the track.
If nothing else, removed all your missing tracks and re-import them.
