Moving an images in a pages document to iphoto...how?

How do you get an image in pages into iphoto? The image name is Signature Blue Color.gif? I am not sure where the original is, but I have it in a pages document.
How do you use an image in pages as an Inspector, fill, image fill without moving it to iphoto first? I don't think you can.
thanks

It would help if you gave us a few breadcrumbs of information.
Such as which template you are referring to.
Select the graphic:
+Inspector > Metrics > File Info > drag the file's icon to your desktop+

  • Adding images to a Pages document

I've tried a few different things to add images to a pages document. I can get them in the document, but when I save as Word Doc. and open in Word on a PC, all images are gone. What's the best way to import images and make sure they're there regardless of the file type or platform they're going to be opened in?

I have no trouble exporting Page's documents to Word that contain jpg, png, eps, or objects inserted by Pages itself. I don't recall trying pdf files. Graphics placed inline or floating both work. I've dragged pictures from the desktop, copy pasted, used the Insert>Choose command and even dragged them from one application to another with success. Now the Word document didn't always have the same formatting as the Pages document, but the pictures were there.
It would be useful to know what type of graphic image(s) you've inserted.

    Danny,
Sure you csn. Don't be afraid to try this kind of stuff for yourself. If things don't work out, just Command-Z your way back to the previous state. In this case it should work just great. Once your multiple selection appears in Pages, click off the selected new objects to de-select them, then select them one at a time for positioning.

  • How do I export Pages document into iPhoto

How do I export Pages document into iPhoto?

    Hi PhilipFG and FoxFifth,
I've been using the same process Pages > PDF > iPhoto.  However, when it gets to iPhoto there's a lot of waiting around time for it to allow me to do anything i.e. cropping, enhancing.  The little coloured ball is just turning and turning. It's not happy to be there!  There is a big difference (it appears) in the resolution when it ends up in iPhoto using this process.  The images have shadows.  My business partner has an older Mac and can export directly to iPhoto from Pages without having to create a PDF first.  Perhaps this is just an option on the older one but she now can't open the pages file I send to her either.  Besides the fact that she clearly needs a new Mac...has anyone any further updates on what else can be done to export directly to iPhoto?  TIA

  • Move image in Pages document to iPhoto

I received some photos that were imbedded in a Word document as images. I want to transfer the photos to iPhoto to use in a slideshow. How can I transfer them from Word or Pages to iPhoto?
The person that sent them to me is a newbie and deleted the original jpg's, so the ones in the Word document are the only copies we have. I'm sure there has to be a way! Thanks for your help!

If the resolution of a photo is not high to begin, then it would not have been high resolution no matter what... even if it could have been "pulled off" the pages document as originally hoped. The question did not state whether the photos were of high quality or not. I do not think that was the original question. I believe the question was asking how to capture the photos that were still available.
You get the exact image with the highest available resolution and quality if you drag the file's icon from the Metrics pallette.
It is easy enough to change a png into a JPEG while using iPhoto just by highlighting the photo and clicking on e-mail. THEN, the photo can be dragged off the e-mail as a JPEG into a folder, or wherever. Multiple photos can be changed from png to JPEG through use of e-mail.
You can directly change any image into any other format using Preview by simply resaving it.
Converting an image to JPEG degrades it. JPEG is a lossy format, it works by throwing away some of the information in the image and clustering the pixels in a way that forms artifacts.
I do think that using a screenshot offers a viable solution to the question, when no other option is available to salvage an original picture from a pages document.
Except dragging the original file (which is stored inside the document bundle) is the way to get at the image. The point is that your method is like using your home video camera to record a movie from a TV screen instead of directly from the DVD.

  • Cannot add an image to a pages document.

I have a 7 page document that has 10 images included. They are small screen shots about 300 x 500 px. When I try to add another image, I get the resize handles displayed, but no image. I've tried adding the image from the Media Browser and finder. I ended up saving the document, and starting another from where I left off. I'll combine them in Acrobat. Any ideas? if apple would like the file to examine, let me know.
I had another image issue with a newsletter I generated using one of the Pages templates. After running pages for a while, the Media Browser would refuse to open or open very slowly. I figured it was a memory issue, and used the finder window instead.
I'm really trying to leave Word behind. So any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks Woody

Apple is fair enough to deliver a well done "Pages User Guide" with the application.
Those who took care to open it are aware of that:

  • What is the best image format to use for importing images into a Pages document?

Image quality is good in photoshop. I am currenlty saving as .tiff at 300 dpi but when I import the image in the resolution diminishes radically.

I like to use .png or .pdf.

  • Part of page "image" overlaps the page when printed.  How do I fix this?

When printing from Acrobat 10.1.5, part of the contents of the page prints on top of the page itself.  In my most recent case, the page is landscape.  The portion of the page that overprinted is from the bottom center about 1 inch wide and 4 inches tall.  It ended up on the top right of my page.
Portrait example - a similar sized "piece" from the middle of the 8.5" length, about 1 inch tall and 4 inches wide printed on the top left of my portrait page.
I have tried the quick fix - print as image - but that doesn't change anything.  Help!

    Hi Casey ,
You can check the properties of that calender option and if there is an option of opening the calender in the same page ,then please select that.
Or is it with the help of button option you have created the calender?

  • How to batch convert tiff images to jpeg in Pages document

I have a large (about 1Gig) Pages 5 Package document with hundreds of images, mostly in tiff format. Since the software became nearly unresponsive, I need to convert image files in jpeg (though I wonder why unresponsiveness in the Package mode). Reducing file size is not an option since it decreases resolution.
Is there a script, perhaps, that would convert all images in a Pages document to jpeg?

    What version of Pages?
    Not to my knowledge.
You may be able to create an AppleScript, a very long shot, but it will not use Pages to do the conversion and will take longer to do than simply correcting all the images and reimporting them.
Preview.app can convert from one format to another and there are Automator workflows that will convert image formats. You will lose some detail because jpegs are a lossey format whilst tiff is not. Have you looked at reserving the images as compressed tiff files?
How did you get into this position? You must have known the file would be huge with so many large images in it. Pages 5 is particularly bad, increasing file size exponentially.

As Sagesse notes, AppleWorks can't open Pages documents because it was released/updated years before Pages was made available. Apple does not claim that AppleWorks can open Pages documents.
Pages does not perfectly convert every document to a Word format. Nothing but Word does this.
But, plain text is plain text. It has no formatting, fonts, styles, etc. That's why it's called plain text and why your formatting, etc is 'screwed up'.
Regarding Peggy's advice that AppleWorks cannot open Pages documents converted to RTF. This is generally true, but not technically true. In any case, it's easy to work around.
AppleWorks, Pages and Word can all open RTF files. However, if you include an image in a RTF file, it becomes a RTFD file. So because most Pages documents contain images, these files will be exported to a RTFD file format. AppleWorks and Word cannot handle a RTFD file. To work around this either: don't add images to your Pages documents, or open the the RTFD file (it's really just a folder containing a RTF file and the images) so you can open the RTF file in AppleWorks or Word.
HTML is a poor format to rely on for word processing documents they look different from browser to browser.
AppleWorks can only import PDF files, page-by-page, as images.
Before you consider purchasing MS Office, first download NeoOffice/J. It's a free clone of MS Office that does an almost perfect job at Office file translation.
    Cheers.

  • Moving an image; where are resize handles?

I'm moving (move tool) some significantly larger images into a smaller image. I remember watching a video some where that said if you hold down the ___ key, that you'll automatically get the resize handles. Anyone know what that key is?
Also, is there a way to move the image in to the smaller image, and not have it be so huge, without having to change the resolution size before moving it? (Ideally I'd like to move the image in at about 1/20th the original size, making it fit into the 2nd image)
    Thanks!

    Hello!
Hitting the V key will show you the transform controls, IF the relevant option is selected for the move tool in the option bar AND if View>View Extras (Command+H) is activated.
Command+T will show you the transform handles, no matter what option is set for the move tool.
I need more info for your second question: what are you trying to do? Do you do that on a routine basis?
If yes, you could set up an action that moves the image to an other document (all depends how many images are open at a given time), then scales the newly pasted layer to 5% its original size.

  • Exporting Pages document to HTML

When I export to HTML a pages document created with my own template, the HTLM document shown images not in the original document.
My question is how do I correct the problem if I can NOT see the images in the pages document? are they hideen behind the text? The images probably came from my trial and error of creating image placeholders however they no longer appear in the pages template or document.
    Please help.

    Welcome to the discussions.
Save yourself grief, time, and torn out hair. Don't try to create HTML in Pages. Use an HTML editor instead. If you want a WYSIWYG program, try iweb, nvu/seamonkey, sandvox, rapidweaver, shutterbug, freeway, dreamweaver.
