Moving apps from 4th gen to 2nd gen?

First time poster and iPod ignoramus here.  Thanks in advance for your patience.
My 8 year old and my 4 year old were sharing a 4th generation iPod touch.
My 16 year old gave his old 2nd gen iPod touch to the 4 year old as a Christmas gift.
Now we want to move the 4 year old's apps from the 4th gen to the 2nd gen.
Is this possible?  If so, how?
thanks again

Just note what Anonymous1221 said. Most of the popular apps have been updated and the updated apps an no longer compatibe with the the 2G iPod.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

If you want to transfer app dat you need to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod.  Restoring from backup will result in your new iPod being just like your old iPOd except you will have to reenter keychain items like passwords since those only get restore to the same device upon a restore.

  • Moving apps from one page to another

I am a new iPod Touch user and have accidentatlly moved one of my apps to a page of its own and want to move it back to the previous page of apps.
How do I move an app from one iPod Touch (2nd Generation) page to another page?

You can customize the layout of icons on the Home screen—including the Dock
icons along the bottom of the screen. If you want, arrange them over multiple Home
    screens.
    Rearrange icons:
1 Touch and hold any Home screen icon until the icons begin to wiggle.
2 Arrange the icons by dragging them.
3 Press the Home button to save your arrangement.
You can also add links to your favorite webpages on the Home screen. See “Web
    Clips” on page 58.
Create additional Home screens: While arranging icons, drag an icon to the right
edge of the screen until a new screen appears. You can flick to return to the original
screen and drag more icons to the new screen.

  • What is this? (From 4th Gen iPod Touch dock connector)

I recently bought a 5th Gen iPod Touch which is great. My 4th gen broke a year ago and wouldn't charge. This morning I decided I'd see what's wrong with it. I shone my flashlight in the dock connector and I realised this thing wasn't connected to anything and was kind of just... sitting there. What is it?

    After charging overnight
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Questions regarding upgrade from 4th gen to 5th gen iPod

I recently received a new 80 gig 5th gen iPod and had 2 questions regarding it and my old 40 gig 4th gen. PC meets minimun requirements and is running XP Pro.
    1) Do I need to do anything before synching the new 5th gen iPod with my existing Library (i.e. uninstall iPod Updater for 4th gen)?
    2) If I don't need to uninstall the 4th gen Updater, can I run both iPods off the same Library, same user (obviously not simultaneously)?

    Hey, joggy!
    1) No, I don't believe you do. Be sure to disconnect the 4th gen iPod before connecting the 5th generation iPod to the computer.
    2) Yes, you can.
There are basically two methods with managing muleiple iPods on one computer:
Method 1 - Create different Windows users accounts for each resgistered iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod.
To make Method 2 work, connect one of your iPods, and click on it in the left-source panel.
Under the "Music" tab, and set your option for a specific playlist(s) under the "Sync Music" option.
Do the same with your other iPod; not connected at the same time, though.

    I hope that helps you.

  • Moving Apps from One Account to Another

When I moved to my new job I got a new phone.  Not being sure what to do I set up a new BB Id with my new e-mail.  Now I can't get my apps from my old account.  How can I move those apps from my old account to my new one without having to pay for them again?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It is a matter of using that old BB ID...apps cannot transfer between BB IDs, but BB IDs can transfer between devices, carrying along their purchase records.
To re-install your apps, please see this KB:
KB17625 How to install or transfer previously purchased applications from BlackBerry App World to a BlackBerry smartphone
Given that you've already created a new BB ID on the new device, you may also need this KB:
KB26694 How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone
I'm sorry that the process will be so cumbersome, but it is what it is.

  • Moving app from one screen to another fails very often

I'm using the feature to manually move apps from one screen to another on iPhones. It works very smooth without any problem on these devices.
On my iPad 3 I've some trouble with that feature. 1 out of 20 tries works. It makes no difference if moved slow, fast or concentrated - it fails too often.
Spoken with other people using iPad leads to the results the problem also exists on iPad 2. So what happens? You switch to edit mode by holding the "Home" button and wait until the apps are vibrating. Now you put a finger over an app, hold them and move them to the right or left display border. Instead of switching to the next screen the icon jumps back to it's original position. Different people tried it on my iPad and all of them failed in the given rate.
Workaround is to use the shortcut bar on the bottom or to use iTunes from Mac or PC. I've also noticed that most of the time a "close" request of an application (by hitting the "-" sign on an app icon) failed if the app is on the border of the display. This happens randomly and you feel you missed the "-" sign so repeating the operation. But if you concentrate on it you will notice it doesn't respond properly.
As a result my impression is the touchscreen functionality is not as good as on iPhone. Where I have no problem at all with both operations. As other people also suffer from this issues it must be related to the iPad screen.

Yes by restoring the iPhone from the backup of the Pod.  The app has to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore.

  • Problems moving app from tomcat 321 to 4.0

I have serious problems moving an old app from tomcat 321 to 4.0. I tried just moving the entire webapps/<myApp> to the new server, and also using a war-file, but I get a message saying that one of my Beans doesn't exist.
Its a bean in the /WEB-INF/classes subdir, so its in an annonymous package. The jsp-page accessing it uses the
    <jsp:useBean id="dateBean" class="DateBean" scope="session" />
    tag.
Error message from jsp-page says: org.apache.jsp.DateBean not found.
Seems my tomcat4 doesnt use the web-inf/classes in its classpath???
    regards
    Markus

I don't believe the current Servlet specs allow for anonymous packages. Try moving your class into its own package (under WEB-INF/classes/packagename/) and see if that fixes the problem. Also be sure to change the <jsp:useBean> tag to give the full classname in the class attribute.

  • Moving Apps from PC to PC OS9

Have a question for everyone here, I have a MAC Quciksliver that has OS 9 and I want to move some of the Apps from that PC to a 2nd PC with a newly installed dual boot with OS 9 and OS X Tiger.
Some of the apps I want to move are Photoshop Illustrator and few more I can't think of, since I got the PC's used I don't have the install discs.
Can I just stick in a flash drive and copy the folders of the apps from the OS 9 app folder on the old pc and paste in the orther PC and expect it work?
    Thanks for any help!

You'd need to  move the preferences from the System Folder as well, and you could run into permissions problems with that.
OS 9 does not use permissions, hence no permissions problems.
In addition to prefs files... - though rare, some apps have extensions associated with them, and it is necessary to also move those.

Can I move paid apps from one iPad to another?

Yes. Follow the instructions here or here; using the first set of instructions then requires syncing the new device with the iTunes library containing the content.

  • Having Trouble Moving Apps From One Page to Another

I can easily move apps around on the same page. But I can't seem to move an app from one page to another. They stop at the side of the screen and won't move to the next page. Is there a secret to this or does it take fancy dexterity?

It takes a little dexterity but if you have 9 pAges of apps then it takes pure magic to move any to the
Tenth page. I still haven't been able to do it. I've discovered how to delete those pesky defAult apps though. You put them on the ninth page then drag another app onto page nine and push the other one right off. Disappears forever

  • Moving app from one device to another

Can I move the textnow app from an itouch to an iphone so she can keep the textnow number?

Yes by restoring the iPhone from the backup of the Pod.  The app has to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore.

  • Moving apps from screen to screen in iTunes 11.1

I have always used iTunes to arrange my many apps on my iPhone screens.  Now I updated to IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 - and I can only move my apps from screen to screen in the iPhone - by holding down the app and sliding it off the screen.  In iTunes 11.1 all the apps are "locked" to the screens and I can't re-arrange them by dragging them from screen to screen.
    I hate it!
Is this broken -- or a new "feature" from Apple?

I agree with everyone that this is now awkward, but if you double-click a screen page to make it bigger, you can click and drag the icon you want to move out of there to another page. Once you mouse over another page, that page will enlarge and allow you to drop it on there. If the page is not visible (as someone mentioned earlier), you can hold the clicked icon toward the bottom of the area with the screens - and not on a page - and it will scroll. Once you see the page you want, you can drop it on there.
Obviously it was not intuitive to me or else I would not have stumbled upon this discussion! Thanks everyone for your advice and help!

I also want to reset my first gen touch- so that nothing ins on it except the default apps, so I can sell it.
How do I transfer my paid apps to the new ipod touch?

Connect the original iPod touch to iTunes, select it, choose Transfer Purchases from the File menu, and then sync them to the new one. Click here and follow the instructions to erase the original iPod touch.
