Moving Apps/Music/Cover Art to new compuyer

Hello all.
Due to the years of junk that is on my computer, I have decided to start fresh. Before I do however, I want to be sure that I save off my apps/music/ basically all my iTunes stuff, which includes about $50 paid for apps. I do not want to lose these.
Has anyone done this? Basically saved off all your iTunes stuff somewhere so I do not lose it between the PC transfer?
Thanks.

Actually, its not necessarily in the same folder. I have iTunes set to automatically consolidate my imported items and my iTunes Music folder set to an additional drive. It stores all my music and movies on my additional drive, but my apps are stored on my boot drive.
Odds are he hasn't changed his storage folder but it cant be assumed that they are in the same place.

  • New iPod Touch 4g music/cover art problems.

I just got my new iPod Touch on Monday and I was syncing music onto it (manually) today and all of a sudden, the cover art on most of my albums/songs were erased. Should I get a new iPod or is there any way to fix it? I really don't want to restore it already when I can just go get a new one if I'll have problems with this one in the future. Also, on my 2g iPod Touch, I could manually add lyrics, cover art, and other things within the iPod music list itself. Now, the cover art doesn't show up when I edit from there. Any suggestions as to what's going on and what I should do?

i hope i'm not late but AFTER SO LONG OF SEARCHING EVERYWHERE ( i had this problem)  i myself tried an experiment
and i finally found what works
you're not alone in this LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ****** PROBLEM  because of iOS 5
anyways here is what you have to do (  it's kind of hard to understand so i hope you do )
go to your device ( in itunes) and mark off the sync music tab then click apply or sync ( this will wipe out all of your music)
then you click the box again & you click sync ( this will put the  music back into your ipod )
    NOW we're not done yet
quickly go to music ( in your itunes library) and just go around each song , like just clicking each song ( even twice if u want) and this will make the album covers appear onyour ipod ( u have to hurry before it stops syncing)
so a faster way to do it is to just go to music in your library and the arrows ( in your computer's keyboard)
ya know the arrows that are like up & down, left & right
well.. quickly go over each album cover or song cover with the left and right arrows
and if some of the covers don't go tru just click enter as if you were going to listen to them
I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS BECAUSE IT HELPED ME and i know how annoying this is and i want people to do this because it really works
    best of luck .xx

  • Cover art in New Zealand?

Does anyone know if it is possible to view cover art in countries that don't yet have the iTunes Music Store (such as New Zealand)?
I was able to use CoverFlow (where the cover art came from Amazon or Google or drag-and-drop).
I'm surprised that I can't use this feature because there is no Music Store here.
    Thanks,
    Galen

This has been resolved with the introduction of Apple New Zealand and the iTunes New Zealand music store a few months ago.

  • Music cover art problem

I just recently got a new computer and new iPod touch, I am getting messages stating that iTunes cannot find the cover art for over half of my albums, and another quarter of those that it does, gets the wrong cover art. For example, Disney's Enchanted doesn't get any cover art, and the soundtrack for "A Walk to Remember" gets the cover to "Top Gun". The soundtracks for both Blues Brothers movies gets covers from Aretha Franklin music and iTunes cannot find cover art for any of the Star Trek movies.
Since this is with a completely new computer, new iPod, and first time creation of an iTunes library, I am at a loss to find how to correct this.
Any ideas what can be done?

I would like to bump this since I'm having the same problems. iTunes 7 got them all but the new is messing up simple stuff, like Weezer's Blue and Green albums.

  • Ooops...I manually moved iTunes music folder to my new external hard drive

So I thought I was smart and manually moved my iTunes music folder to my new external hard drive. I've changed the location in Preferences but can't locate my music through iTunes. What do I do now? My library is on my external hard drive, but I read I should have done this through iTunes. Any advice?

Is it still possible for you to temporarily return the iTunes Music folder to its original location?
If so you should be able to see your music in iTunes again and then follow the instructions in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

  • Moving apps from old machine to new Mac

My current MacBook belongs to my employer and I must return it. My new employer will purchase a new Mac for me. I will zero out the drive before I hand in the old machine, but what happens to the apps I have on my current machine? Obviously I don't want to have to purchase them again.
    1. Will the apps automatically migrate to my new Mac based on my Apple ID?
    2. What steps must I take to re-install when the time comes?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

A lot depends on the individual apps...some will be in the app store under Purchases and can be downloaded again.  Some may not run with the new operating system, if they are legacy apps that required Rosetta, i.e., those that ran under Snow Leopard and older versions of Mac OS X.  Those that ran on Lion should be ok.
To re-download you will have to login to the Mac App Store with the same AppleID and password as you used to purchase the apps.  They are tied to the AppleID.
You might want to get an external hard drive and just clone the current internal drive so you have a good, bootable backup copy you can then use to migrate to the new machine.  That would be the safest way to ensure the apps are available to you.

  • Itunes hasnt moved my music over to my new pc

I got a new laptop last year for university, when I installed iTunes onto my laptop it automatically moved all my music over without me having to plug in my ipod. I've just had to get a new harddrive for the same laptop and obviously had to re install everything. but this time, my music hasn't been moved over. I don't want to plug in my ipod cause I know it will get wiped, so what should I do? some of my music is stuff I haven't got on any other device because it's old CD's, or its stuff I've borrowed previously.

  • Moving apps from old citrus to new Phone

I am upgrading from a Motorola Citrus to a Samsung Stratosphere, which is supposed to arrive tomorrow,
I already use BackupAssistant to back up contacts, but what about my apps? I have many.
How do I get then from old phone to new?

Your apps are all connected to your Gmail account.  Once you sign in they are supposed to re-install automatically on the new phone (though that doesn't always happen).  If it doesn't happen, you have two options, you can either access the Play Store on your computer here: https://play.google.com/store and click on My Android Apps (top right), then go through them and click install on each one (make sure your new phone is signed into your Gmail account, and open the Play Store on your phone at least once) and they will be pushed to your phone.  Or, you can open the Play Store, then press menu>my apps, then swipe to the right.  This will give you a list of every app you have ever installed, and you can pick which ones to re-install.  I find the computer method to be easier, but hopefully they get pushed to your phone automagically.

  • Screen saver - album cover art?

I just setup my Gen 3 ATV and I noticed while setting up my screen saver that I didn't have the option to use my album cover art for the saver like I was able to do with my GEN 1 ATV.
Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

Just figured out how to do this...Go into Screen Saver and select "Floating (covers)" or "Cascade (covers)" and then your music cover art will become your screen saver on your GEN 3 ATV using your iTunes library.

  • Moving iTunes Music to external drive

If I move my iTunes music folder to an external hard-drive because I'm running out of space on my PC's internal drive, can I then just go to preferences in iTunes and change the folder location and carry on as normal or do I have to act like I'm moving my music to a completely new computer and copy my music to a folder on my Ipod then copy it back to the external drive? Hope this makes sense...
    Thanks for your help.

  • I am a PC user using 3 PCs w/ iTunes Match. 2 of my PCs sync fine, but my new PC (used to remove duplicates, cover art, update playlists) does not sync with Match. Whats the problem?

So, to begin I own 3 PCs and the latest iPad/iPhone running iTunes on all 3 PCs. For simplicity, I will refer to the PCs as old, laptop, and new.
My laptop was my primary PC which i used to set up iTunes match. The old PC had all of my music files which have appeared to have been uploaded to Match. Note that I had already transferred most (if not all) of the music to my laptop but I enabled match so that I could download new files to my old PC. Note that I did quite a bit of cleaning, retagging, and ordering files and that I was told by Apple that Match would recognize duplicates, and as such, would not upload these files to the cloud in Match (this does not appear to be the case, however). My laptop PC (originally set up on Match) indicates there are alot of files in the clould (Match) to download. These seem to be duplicate files which were already cleaned on the Laptop and were uploaded on the old PC machine. Thus, it appears that Apples matching alogorythm is not strong enough to detect minor differences (i.e. cover art) in files and decides to upload them anyway (quite annonying if you ask me).
Now, to my problem; I purchased a new PC and have been removing the last duplicate songs, updating cover-art, playlists, among other things. My new PC (which I will refer to as "new") is not recognized by iTunes Match. I have tried uninstalling each app associated with iTunes, starting fresh with a new playlist and library to no avail.
Has anyone else had this problem? Apple Care does not seem to have much knowledge about Match, which is a bit frustrating. All I wish to do is tell Match that my New PC should be the primary PC which will be used to deliver playlists, music, etc since the other 2 machines have many duplicates and the playlists have errors within them. I thought about these solutions (none of which are no appealing) 1) using the laptop as my primary iTunes Match PC since this was the PC Match was created on (this would require rebuilding playlists and removing a massive amount of duplicates, again), 2) creating a new iTunes Match account based on my New PC (basically starting over), 3) forgetting Match all together and going back to the old school store & sync.
Anyone have better ideas or experiencing similar issues? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thx!

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

  • After "upgrading" to ios 7.02, why did I lose most cover art for music albums?

(ios 7.02 on iphone 4s, Windows 7 itunes) Happened on first synch after upgrade. Found no real solution searching through forum. What happened? How do I restore these - the artwork is still in itunes? The answer that I should delete more than 70 albums from itunes and reimport them is not a solution.

    Hi garobinson51,
I finally managed to solve this annoying issue on my iPad 3 with iOS 7 (7.0.2)
I tried editing the info of a song from within iTunes 11 with no luck. I also tried playing a song from an album or an entire album with no luck as well.
Finally, while I was "playing" with my iTunes library I added a new album to the iPad and it actually kept the right cover art. This led me to think that the root cause of the issue is with some metadata that the iPad keeps between iOS versions and is not even reset during a Settings->General->Reset->Reset all settings (I had to reset all settings to solve another annoying problem with the Music app where songs were not actually sorted).
At that point, from within iTunes, I tried removing a single artist from my iPad (I'm not synching the whole iTunes library, but only selected albums and artists), synching, adding it back and synching again. It actually worked.
Please note that you may have to close and reopen the Music app to see the cover art.
It may eventually help trying to remove all music from the iPad through Settings->General->Usage->Storage:Music (just swipe left on "All music" and select "Delete") and then synching the music back from your computer, but I've not tried it since the problem was solved with the other method.
I really think that this version of iOS 7 tried to preserve to many information and settings between installations and this led to an overall instability for the device/app. Moreover it also added confusion to the end user changing the way many things used to work (e.g. Music app layout, library sorting, artist pictures download from iTunes Match, etc) and letting many new features go undocumented (i.e. you'll learn them only through usage and practice. The manual doesn't cover them).
I really hope this helps you to fix your cover art issue. It didn't have to reimport all the albums, but simply cleaned their info from the iPad and added them back.

  • REMOTE app on iPhone does not display Cover Art

I use the Apple REMOTE App on my iPhone to control my iTunes music library on a Mac. The REMOTE App controls the iTunes playback properly. However, the Cover Art for each song does not display on the "song" screen - showing the song currently playing. Across my iPhone screen (where the Cover Art should appear) are the words containing album of the song). The name of the song and album correctly appear at the top of the screen.
What is interesting is that when I hit the back arrow (left side top on song screen), all of the Cover Art appears in small thumbnails. The Cover Art also appears in other displays (for example, the currently-playing Album) using REMOTE on my iPhone. This means that the cover art is being transmitted to my iPhone - HOWEVER IT DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE SONG SCREEN.
Can anyone kindly help me resolve this - because I would really like the Cover Art to display properly on the song screen.  Thank you.  Dale

Nezmo, This is really unbelievable.  I have suffered from the issue I described for SEVERAL YEARS.  Today, for some reason I decided to make this post on the Apple discussion board.  And, today the issue was fixed by Apple.  I just downloaded the update to the REMOTE app and the cover art now shows beautifully on my iPhone 6 plus.  Thanks.  Dale

  • I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?
