Moving arbitration mailbox in coexistence initial deployment

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/exdeploy2013/Checklist?state=2419-W-EABEAgAAQAAAAQECAQAAAAg~
So I'm about to do this, but the guide doesn't mention 2010 really, will the move affect any 2010 functionality? I will likely need months to migrate all users from 2010 to 2013 and am nowhere near ready configuring Exchange 2013 to start receiving emails
(I publish Exchange in TMG), does that need to be configured prior to moving this mailbox as well?

Moving the three Arbitration Mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, will not affect any functionality in Exchange 2010 at all. This is something you should do so that eDiscovery and Admin Auditlog works just as it says in the Deployment Assistant.
And no, you don't need to change the email routing or your namespace before you do it.

  • Moving Arbitration Mailbox growing size, taking hours

I am following the instructions in the deployment assistant to migrate an in-place Exchange 2010 setup to a new Exchange 2013 server.  I have reached the stage of migrating the arbitration mailbox from its original server to a database on the new one.
This process has now been running for 7 hours and as far as I can see the migrated mailbox size is larger than the database which used to house it.  The deployment assistant estimates this stage as requiring 10 minutes to complete.
Is there a problem and if so what can I do to resolve the issue?

    Thanks for your response.
    I'm moving one arbitration mailbox.
    The first command shows that
    DisplayName                                    Status
    TargetDatabase
    Microsoft Exchange                             InProgress
    Mailbox Database 0761821460
The second one, run on all the existing mailbox databases shows historical moves but nothing about this one.
I could be wrong about the database from which I'm moving the arbitration mailbox, but to the present time the details on the move show
    Data migrated:
    2.395 GB (2,571,811,149 bytes
The task has been running for 11 hours.
This is of concern for a task which is described as taking 10 minutes to complete.  Obviously if this is normal  and the deployment assistant is wrong in it's time estimate then I'll just let it run through.
    Thanks again

  • First exchange 2013 server install in coexistence: Recreating arbitration mailboxes first

    Hi
We have exchange 2010 servers and I want to introduce the first exchange 2013 server.
Some of our arbitration mailboxes currently in 2010 have become corrupt and my initial exchange 2013 installation failed.
Question: Can I remove existing exchange 2010 arbitration mailboxes and recreate them using EXCHANGE 2013 "SETUP /PrepareAD"????????  Afterall there are no 2013 servers in the environment yet
I wonder if it will fail due to version incompatibilities
    Thanks

    Hi,
Agree with DJ Grijalva. Exchange 2013 /prepareAD will create the arbitration mailboxes for Exchange 2013. And the arbitration mailboxes between Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 are different. So I recommend you use the 2010 /prepareAD to recreate the arbitration
    mailboxes for 2010.
Hope my clarification is helpful to you.

  • Database Deleted that had all the Arbitration Mailboxes, AD accounts still exist.

So in doing a little house cleaning on Exchange 2010 in a new environment I'm noticing that the Arbitration Mailboxes do not exist but the accounts exist in AD.
I ran the below command and got that output.
Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Ft Name, Database
    Name
    Database
    SystemMailbox{1f05a927-7ba6-4008-81eb-7c42e5be81f5}         Old-Database
    SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}         Old-Database
    FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042         Old-Database
"Old-Database" does not exist in my DAG nor do any of the associated files are listed in any of the Exchange Volumes.  In AD Users I see all three AD accounts.  I've tried to move requests, knowing of course that a mailbox doesn't exist
so might not work but just giving it a try, and of course it failed.  I've tried to enable the mailbox for the account, which I think would be the closest solution but I think it is trying to recreate the account in the old database that doesn't exist.
So I guess what I'm trying to do is enable all the mailboxes but have it recreated in a different database.
Unless my thought process is entirely wrong I'm was hoping for assistance with next steps or the powershell command to accomplish what I'm doing.  I did read this in another post though and to run this command.  I'm hesitant as the poster seemed
    hesitant initially.

  • Arbitration Mailbox Alia

    Hi All
I am in the process of migrating from Exchange 2010 to 2013 and the next step is to move the arbitration mailbox.  The deployment assistant states that it should have a display name of Microsoft Exchange and an email alias of SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}.
I have gone to move the mailbox but noticed that the alias is actually msexchdiscoverye0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9.  Is this an issue I need to resolve or normal behaviour?
    Thanks

    Hi,
In Exchange 2010, when we run the get-mailbox -Arbitration | fl name, displayname, alias cmdlet, we can get the following result.
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>get-mailbox -Arbitration | fl name, displayname, alias
    Name        : SystemMailbox{1f05a927-caae-49ed-90a1-a380325f7dea}
DisplayName : Microsoft Exchange Approval Assistant
    Alias       : SystemMailbox{1f05a927-caae-49ed-90a1-a380325f7dea}
    Name        : SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}
    DisplayName : Microsoft Exchange
    Alias       : SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}
    Name        : FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042
DisplayName : Microsoft Exchange Federation Mailbox
    Alias       : FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042
Do you mean the alias for the second arbitration mailbox is "msexchdiscoverye0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9"?
    The right should be "SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}".
I recommend you recreate this system mailbox to check the result.

  • Error when moving a mailbox from one database to another using the EMS

Error "The database is excluded from provisioning. Please Select a different target database for the move"
Above is the Error i get when moving a mailbox to another database on the same Exchange mailbox Server 2013 using the EMS

    Hi MikeVATX,
Using the EMS I ran the Command
    below,
    Get-MailboxDatabase DBName | select name,*provision*
The result displayed that the Parameter IsExcludedFromProvisioning was set to True which i had to set to false by running the command below as per your guide.
    Get-MailboxDatabase -Identity DBName | Set-MailboxDatabase -IsExcludedFromProvisioning
    $ False
Then i was able to move the mailboxes.
It now works fine. Thanks for that solution.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Arbitration mailboxes exist in root and child domains, which to delete?

    Hi,
I discovered a problem with my Arbitration Mailboxes when setting up a Moderated Distribution group. The moderator wasn't receiving an email from Exchange advising that there was a message that needed to be approved or declined. A bit of digging in Message
Tracking and the Event log (IDs 9214 & 9217) revealed that the email address for the MS Exchange Approval Assistant exists twice, in both our root and child domains.
The question is which to delete, the account in root or child? All of the users are in the child domain so presumably it's the account in root which I should delete, but I'm not 100% sure.
    Any pointers very welcome.
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Agree with Andy. The arbitration accounts are in the root domain by default. You should delete the account in child domain. Then you can use the Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | fl displayname command to check if you can get this system mailbox in child domain.
If you can't get this system mailbox in the child domain, you need to run the following command, so that the scope of the search is changed to the forest level.
    Set-ADServerSettings –ViewEntireForest $true

  • Exchange 2013 - Cannot remove DataBase due to Arbitration Mailboxes

    Dear Experts,
I'm running MS Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 R2.  I am cleaning/merging databases and have ran into a problem due to the arbitration mailboxes.  I am unable to delete a database because of the arbitration mailboxes.
First, I identified all the mailboxes in the DB I wanted to move (DB01)
    Get-Mailbox -Database "DB01" -Arbitration
I did the below to move the arbitration and user mailboxes to a different DB
    Get-Mailbox -Database "DB01" | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "DB02"
    Get-Mailbox -Database "DB01" - Arbitration | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "DB02"
The move was successful, but I was unable to delete DB01 because of an error related to the arbitration mailboxes when I attempted to delete it.
After researching this problem I used
    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Set-Mailbox -Arbitration -Database "DB02"
I have verified the active arbitration mailboxes are on DB02 by using
Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Ft Name, Database
Currently DB01 is dismounted and from what I can tell not doing anything except eating up a license.  Arbitration mailboxes still reside on DB01, but they are not active.  If anyone has any experience on how I can force the deletion of this database
or remove the arbitration mailboxes for good it would make my boss and I so happy.  Thanks to everyone in advance.

  • Moderation via Transport Rule and multiple Arbitration mailboxes

    Hello,
when using moderation using a Transport Rule (Transport Rule Action "forward the message to addresses for moderation") it is possible to moderate messages sent to recipients outside the exchange organization (Transport
Rule Predicate "Sent to Users Outside The Organization"). This all works perfect so far using a single arbitration mailbox.
Now I would like to add additional arbitration mailboxes for load balancing purposes. As far as I understand, different arbitration mailboxes can configured on the recipients objects which are moderated using the set-<MailEnabledObject> -ArbitrationMailbox
    'XYZ'
Now, for the described case above where the recipients are external (internet) and not available within the directory, is there a way to use multiple Arbitration mailboxes anyway and if yes, how ?
Any feedback welcome. Thanks in advance

  • CSA initial deployment

I'm new to CSA, and I'm currently in the middle of an install.  My plan is to deploy out to clients in about a week or so.  My question is this;  What are some best practices for doing a deployment in a live environment?  There are about 10 different, but small, sites that I will be deploying it to.  I do not want CSA to in any way prevent a user from performing daily job functions.  This needs to be completely managed centrally, and do not want the user to have to deal with csa prompts of any kind.  My concern with doing the deployment is that it will prevent execution of legitimate apps.  Please provide some insight into how I should go about do this.  Thanks, and you are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Thomas,
I did it, but still not working.
Please look at this document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-41390
Here they explain how to proceed with initial deployment.
During patch deployment, the BC deployment is triggered automatically as part of the activation process (“Data Update phase”).
So, as I’ve understand the Data Update don’t have to be triggered automatically when you upload the solution for the first time. In my case I have to do an initial deployment, but the Data Update is triggered after the activation automatically. Do you think it is correct?
    Thanks

  • Bcc- create Initial deployment is getting queued up.

    Hi All,
my initial bcc- create Initial deployment is getting queued up and is listed in plan. I have selected flag agents only deployment. Any pointers how can i start this deployment initiated. When i look into the DeploymentServer, i can see a snapshot initialised and Current statte : DONE_STOP.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alphonsa

First check if your agent is not having any errors and agent status is healthy. Assuming you have switching data-source deployment setup, you should also check the data-sources for all the agents in the Admin Console to see if they are pointing to the same data-source (switching A or switching B). In case you have just one agent then see if your deployment can proceed by changing the data-source form A to B or vice-versa. If you still face issue, try checking the logs for any errors related to DeploymentServer and DeploymentFulfiller.

  • Who moved the mailbox

In Exchange 2003, how to find the user account who moved the mailbox after its moved

    Hi,
You can look up the detail log files of the move mailbox operation, which is save in XML format into the
\My Documents\Exchange Task Wizard Logs folder. The XML log file is generated on the disk with the errors pertaining to each failed mailbox move operation. The log file contains mailboxes that failed with message ID, date of message and subject
    in the log.
Note that the XML report may not be viewable
on a machine that does not have the XML parser installed. And the XML parser is automatically installed whenever you install any Exchange 2003 binaries on a machine.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks
