Moving Audio by a subframe

I'm trying to sync up two audio tracks in FCE 3.5.
They are very close, but are about 1/2 frame apart. I cannot figure out how to move one of the audio tracks by less than a frame.
Is there any way to do this?
Thanks,
DJ

You can mark In points down to 1/100th of a second. Open the clip into the viewer, zoom into the In point. Hold the Shift key, grab the In point marker and drag it. That will slip the audio content of the clip.

  • IMovie moving audio clips when transitions are added

iMovie moving audio clips when transitions are addedI have some video clips that need simple fades to black added at the end. However, whenever I add the fade out transition, iMovie does something insane. Instead of the last two seconds of video fading to black and the last two seconds of audio fading out, it seems that a random two seconds of audio from elsewhere in the clip is tacked onto the end and faded. This problem is nuts and I am having no luck finding a solution. Does anyone have one? This has happened with other transitions, but I’d settle for just getting a fade to black to work properly. Is this only a problem with Intel machines?

The problem that you describe has come up frequently on this forum. There are lots of things people have tried, but no solution has been found, other than the workaround of extracting the audio, as Klaus 1 mentions, and manually adjusting the fade out. Some feel that it is an intel machine problem, but that is not clear.

  • Trouble Moving Audio With Video In Timeline

I'm new to Premiere Pro CS3, coming from Final Cut Pro 4.5 and am having trouble finding the following in the Help File:
-When I grab  a clip in the timeline, and try to move it up and over to a different  spot in the timeline, only the video portion moves up.  The Audio  portion stays on the same track and superimposes itself onto other audio  clips as I drag.  In Final Cut Pro, the video rises to a differnet  track and the audio lowers to a differnet track so there's no collisions.  Is ther a way to do this that I'm missing?
    Gracias.

For PrPro CS3, this post should be in THIS forum. I feel that the MOD's will be moving it for you, so you will know where to find it, once they do.
Now, for the Audio issue, what is the channel-count of the Audio Stream? In PrPro, Audio will ONLY go to an Audio Track, that matches the channel-count of the file, i.e. mono only to 1-channel Audio Tracks, stereo to 2-channel Audio Tracks, etc. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.
Now, when one brings a Clip w/ Audio onto the Timeline, from the Project Panel, the Audio will only go to the appropriate Audio Track, but if one does not exist, PrPro will create one of the appropriate channel-count, and it will be located just above the Master.
If one has the Clip on the Timeline, and they move it, its Audio will ONLY go to an Audio Track with the appropriate channel-count. If, for instance, you have a mono Audio Stream (1-channel) and only oen mono (1-channel) Audio Track, that is where it will go. If you need it elsewhere, because the now location already has Audio on that one Track, you just need to create another mono Audio Track.
One can also Lock Tracks, both Audio & Video, to keep the Clips on those Tracks "safe."
Hope that this helps, and good luck,

  • I'm Having Trouble moving Audio Track one

Hello, per the screen shot below, I would like to have audio track one moved over so that it is flush with the beginning of the film, immediately above Audio Track 2 below it.
I have Toggle Synch off, but just can't seem to make it happen.  I've tried moving the entire track leftwards, ripple delete.   I'm missing something basic here.  Any thoughts?

  • Moving audio region mutes entire project

I don't know what I've done but I have a project where moving any audio region along the time line or between tracks results in no sound being produced. The entire project is silent until I Command/Z the region back to its original place. Then, sound is restored and all's right with the world. Can someone tell me how I can fix this so that I can do some basic arranging in this project?
    Thanks,

    it is very strange issue...
the project seems to be corrupted...
you need to export all tracks as audio files... save the channel strips setting and import audio files in a new project

  • Moving audio files

Ok, so on my computer I have a 40 GB hard drive and have recently filled up. I decided to go buy a 160 GB hard drive and knowing that I'm going to get more music and videos want to move all my audio and video files to the new hard drive to have them all in one place. With out having to do some long steps like importing the music all over again is there some way that I could just change the location of the iTunes folder or anything like that?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Moving audio files around that are not in the iTunes library

    Hi,
Can someone please confirm some behaviour for me. This is regarding iTunes (on OS X naturally) and moving files around that aren't located within the iTunes library.
Most of the files I use are located within the iTunes library, they are fine. However i do maintain a number of files outside of the iTunes library which i primarily use as a DJ. I would like to keep these files seperate, however I do move them occasionally, especially as I classify new music into categories and such.
On my previous powerbook, I noticed that I could move these files and iTunes would still be able to find them, without my manually notifying iTunes where to find them. I did notice a hiccup though, and once when I was recovering from a backup, a bunch of files that i moved weren't found by iTunes.
on my lovely new macbook pro I'm experimenting with the same thing, but it hasn't seemed to been working so far.
my question: Does OS X track where files get moved to? Does iTunes for Mac automatically fix it's library after some period of time through the OS?
I'd really like to confirm this behaviour and see what I can / can't count on.
    thanks,
    conrad

I dont think you can rely on itunes to keep track of your files consistently if you move them around all the time. One solution would be to make a "smart folder" in finder/file/new smart folder. You could call this smart folder "chicago hard house set" and set it to find the tag "chicago hard house set" Then in itunes when you find a track or loop you want to use in that set just add the tag "chicago hard house set" to the composer line under "get info". the smart folder will find the tag in itunes and put a the file in the smart folder, if you keep the smart folder on your desktop (or wherever) Ableton will see the folder and let you access all the files in it. So you can preview all your sound files in itunes and tag them to a specific set and they will show up in that sets smart folder. I use the smart folders to keep track of multiple tracks when recording with Digital Performer onto multiple hard drives at one time.

  • Moving Audio Clip less then 1 frame in Premiere

Is it possible to move an audio clip less then one frame in premiere CS4.  I recorded and then remixed in Audition 3.  Live concert was also recorded in HDV on a Canon hv30.  I want to use the remixed audio with the video footage in place of the camera audio.  It was recorded hdv 30P so one frame is a significant amount of time from the audios point of view.  The audio and video are about half a frame apart.  The only thing I can think of is take the audio back into audition and shorten the lead in by the required amount.  I was hoping for a easier way.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Ken

    Ken,
Glad that it did work for you. Now, there are still some frame-specific things that can and cannot be done, as PrPro is frame-based, but for your need, it sounded like a good solution.
    Thanks for reporting success,

  • Keyboard Shortcut for moving audio

Is there a keyboard shortcut to move an audio track the smallest increment?  I am trying to sync audio with video and when I use the mouse to drag the audio left of right along the timeline, it jumps more than the minimum allowable increment.
    Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to the forum.
Neale has given you the "trick," that you need. Just do not forget to hit the S key again, to toggle Snap back on, when you go to do other editing, or things will not work as before.
    Good luck,

  • Moving audio 1/2 frame

Is it possible to move an audio track in the timeline one-half frame? It was recorded at 1080i 60i. I am using multicameras and wish to use one camera for the entire audio track. It was sent by the recording engineer to one camera but I guess there was a slight (1/2 frame) delay to the camera.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    David Perry

send the track in question to soundtrack pro, turn snapping off, drag to where you want it, export the selected track to your scratch drive as an aiff. import into FCP and drop it in the sequence.

  • Moving audio with video clip

i tried to paste audio at playhead, but when i add a new video clip to the movie, the audio does not move with it. does anyone know how to help me!!!! please

When you lock the audio clip to the playhead, it won't move from the video point it was placed at. You need to UNLOCK those audio clips to allow them to move now. Really, you should get your video work in place first and then move/place your audio clips where you need them. That's the simpler way to approach this.
Re-reading your post again, it seems you haven't locked the audio to the playhead because adding video ahead should move everything together. Did you highlight the audio clips you wanted locked before clicking on "Lock to Playhead"? Play with it some more, you'll get it, or do what I suggest about adding the audio after.

  • Moving Audio and Jam Pack Content to second hard drive

I recently installed Logic Studio and all the content onto my startup hard drive (250 GB). I have a second internal hard drive (80 GB) that is wiped clean.
Can I safely move all the Audio and Jam Pack Content (contained originally on the 6 DVDs) from the startup hard drive to the second hard drive? Or do I have to go through the whole installation process again? If so, where is all the content located on my startup drive?
Thanks for help and advice on this newbie question.

Thanks. I found this which was helpful

I decided to move them to the external hard drive and not use an alias. I haven't even opened Logic yet so the Logic library should be ok.

  • Moving audio tracks and edits together

If I have to move the location of a piece of audio forward and backward is there also a way to move the volume edits I've made on that track with it.
Every time I move a piece of audio I end up having to move the edits separately and realign everything. It's a real pain in the butt.
    Any tips on this.
    Thanks,
    Ray

It is a pain, and there is no solution, volume curves belong to the track, not the region B-(>
The only tip, incase you didn't know, is that you can select multi points on the curve and drag them together. Shift click or Drag Select.
The workflow to avoid this in GB is that you have to do all your editing and arranging of regions before you add volume and/or pan curves
Sorry I don't have better news for you

  • Moving audio tracks to on 2nd layer synch with video clip on first layer

Hi all; greetings to Tom, Ian B and Piero - and many thanks to all for your help in the past. My question is I want to overlay a video clip as a second layer in FCE and sync up the sound with the first. The first layer is a video of a song, the second layer I want to add has different video - 3 short clips as 3 short .MOV files - but same sound track. So I need to EXACTLY match the sound of the second to the lips of the singer in the first. Can any one help me to figure out how can I slip the audio track left and right easily and precisely. I have done it in iMovie by dragging the sound bar but need to use FCE this time. Many thanks to all as always.

Unlink the audio and video tracks.
Select the track/s you want to move and hit the + or - key.
A box appears under the Timeline Ruler, type in a value to move the track/s forward or back then hit Enter/Return to activate the change.
eg. +1 is one frame forward.
Note: The clips won't move if there are other clips in the way preventing movement.
